Problem clearing backlog when stress test fails

I have been trying to use a load runner to stress test WLI. I was running up against
the Customer Management sample and tried 1000 iterations. The app server crashed
and now I can't restart it. Apparently it has kept the backlog and is still trying
to process these requests unsuccessfully. Can you tell me how to restore the server
state?

Hello, Kay.
Thanks for your response.
I know the stogroups created in this database.
The problem is undoubtely caused by an homogeneous system copy.
These are our systems: productive = GEW, test = GEC.
I know stogroup GEWBTI does not exist in the test system, where it only exists GECBTI.
The problem is that in SE14 I changed the stogroup to GECBTI, but when creating the index it tries to create it in stogroup GEWBTI.
Help needed please...

  • SQL connection errors when stress testing mobile service: SQL failure after 3 attempts

I have created a Mobile Service (node.js), which has been running for a few months with 50-100k api calls per day with no issues.
The usage of the service will be scaled up soon, and it will receive much higher traffic, so I am running stress tests (on a staging deployment of the same service).
The api in question queries data from the sql database that is attached to the mobile service, but caches the resulting data in a redis database for 5 minutes, so each call with identical parameters will not access the SQL database, just the redis cache.
My first test never has any problems:
Run a single api calls as fast as possible using the program wrk (https://github.com/wg/wrk). This test never has a problem, and I have run it an hour continuously with a sustained rate of 200 req/s and very few timeout errors.
The second test always causes problems:
I created a list of 5 different api calls to the same service (same endpoint, but different parameters), and I run those randomly interweaved as fast as possible. I use the program locust (http://locust.io) for this, spawing 10.000 clients at a rate of 500
per second. For the first few seconds everything goes ok, but then connections start failing massively.
    I get mostly:
Error: SQL failure after 3 attempts. Error: [Microsoft][SQL Server Native Client 10.0]TCP Provider: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected
    host has failed to respond.
     (SqlState: 08001, Code: 10060)
And I see this in the http response:
ConnectionError(ProtocolError('Connection aborted.', gaierror(8, 'nodename nor servname provided, or not known')),)
The strange thing is that since I am running the same five calls repeatedly, only the very first of each call will actually access the sql database, every subsequent call will just return data directly from redis, and not try to access the sql database at
    all.
In the azure console for the sql database in question, I see 1860 successful connections and 11 failed connections, which does not explain the massive failure rate I am seeing.

Thanks for sharing your tips on this forum, as it will be useful for other users, that run into this issue.
Feedback like this will also help us improve error reporting in the next release, as missing class files in the packaged application is a common issue when developers are moving from the embeded oc4j instance packaged with JDewveloper to standalone instances.

  • Can anyone help, when I test my movie and when it is uploaded it comes out about 60% of the original size. how can I stop this?

When I test the movie or upload it to the server i comes out about 60% of the full size. I do not have it scaled with the window size and I have tried everything I can think of to get it to 100%. Why should it come out smaller? I am using an iMac and CS4 professional.

thank you for asking for more info.
The file I am loading is the SWF file plus the index.HTML file, but the problem still happens when I test the movie before uploading it.
I have not modified the HTML file.
shall I send you the file?

  • Application Server Control - Test Service asks to authenticate when Stress

    Hi,
    OAS 10.1.3.4
When we go to test a Web Service and then select the Stress Test Option we get asked to authenticate to the application server when the Invoke button is selected. If I perform a stress test from BPEL Console for the same BPEL process there is no issue and it runs fine. This seems to happen in ASC for BPEL, ESB and Java Web Services.
Same problems on different servers, so doesn't look like a particular install issue.
Has anyone experienced the same behaviour or know of a workaround as we need to stress test more than just BPEL processes?
    Thanks

I think this is a normal behavior if you are not using SSO, because for every applicaiton you access you will have to enter username and password, but for BPEL console you have been already entered this password so it doesn't ask for it again because is like an internal object, but for EM console, you are accessing and external object that needs authentification.

Toplink session is configured to use external transaction controller and data source. Application run on OC4J 9.0.4.1. Using jdbc debug options I wasn't able to find any causes. Has anyone faced this problem before?
    Regards
    Jarek

    Hi Jarek,
TopLink uses the datasource similar to any other java application would, so there are no additional restrictions. From the error, you can see that the datasource is attempting to create a new connection and that is what is causing the exception. All TopLink did was call getConnection on the datasource ( DriverManagerDataSource.getConnection ).
This could be a problem/glitch with the network or that the listener when down temporarily. Things to check would be:
    -how frequently this occurs
-if it occurs for all connections after this point
-the state of the database listener (can other applications connect to it, is it up, etc)
-how many connections to the DB are active at this point
-how many connections/sessions are active from this application
-the OC4J and JDBC versions. Latest patches are better with regards to connection pools.
What is strange though is that you have the min=max, so it should never create new connections after the first time the pool is accessed. Each connection should already have been created, which is why I suggest that you contact OC4J/JDBC support.
    Best Regards,
    Chris

Click on the  menu at top left of your screen, choose About This Mac and, in the panel that appears, note the Version no. in the form 10.n.n. Then update your product list so we can see what version of OS X you're running on the Mac — see this tutorial:

  • WRT54G ver 6, MTU test fails when trying to connect to Xbox360 live

MTU test fails when trying to connect wirelessly to Xbox360 live.  Firmware is current.   I have a WRT54G version #6, Motorola Surfboard SB5101 Cable Modem, running AOL HighSpeed Broadband through Time Warner Cable.  Changing the MTU setting does not work.  I have tried several other suggestions found on these boards but nothing seems to work.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

hi twhale.... If you had already tried the settings i posted ... in such case you can do one thing .... access router setup page ... under Security ... uncheck block wan request ... click save settings .... Under Applications & Gaming tab ... click port range forwarding .... forward ports 88 & 3074 for the static Ip of the X-BOX ... click save settings . Click save settings ... check X-BOX live test ... if still shows the same error ... upgrade/reflash the firmware ...

  • [svn] 3718: Make sure the server is stopped even when a unit test fails.

    Revision: 3718
    Author: [email protected]
    Date: 2008-10-17 13:03:17 -0700 (Fri, 17 Oct 2008)
    Log Message:
Make sure the server is stopped even when a unit test fails. Thanks to Alex for the fix.
    Modified Paths:
    blazeds/trunk/modules/core/build.xml

I had the same issue after upgrading from 10.7.2 to 10.7.3 and changing my main SSL cert.
The solution was to make sure the correct cert was listed in:
    /etc/openldap/slapd.conf
    as well as:
    /etc/openldap/slapd.d/cn=config.ldif
It looks as though the slapd.conf file gets updated properly when you select an SSL cert in the Server Admin app, but the cn=config.ldif does not. That is the one that was hanging my server up.
    Hope this helps!

  • BPEL test failed when calling same webserivce twice

Our BPEL calls same web service, same operation method twice with different parameter values.
There is only one copy of assert value we could provide in xml.
The BPEL test failed because one of the input value does not match the assert value.
    Is this supported at all?

    Fusion 11.1.1.3.0
You are right, if a wire has an assert, it appears all invokes will call the assertion. There is no distinction possible to test between 1st, and subsequent invokes at runtime. All invokes must look the same for the assert to be consistent.
My experience with the JDev 11g Test Suite shows me that the limitations are huge. 10g BPEL had abilities to test BPEL variables internally, we are waiting for the functionality to be ported.

  • VI Analyzer Front Panel Size and Postion Test fails

    Hi
We make a lot of use of the VI Analyser and I have been playing with the configuration settings to try and make it only fail the tests that matter to us and I have one test I do not understand correctly.
    From the LabVIEW help
Panel Size and Position—Checks that a front panel
completely resides within the bounds of the screen. The test also checks whether
the front panel is larger than the maximum specified width and height. If you
are using a multi-monitor system, the test fails if the panel does not reside
entirely within the bounds of the primary monitor. This test works only on
    standard, control, and global VIs.
I would like to apply this test, a simple check developers are not creating huge VI, it sounds simple enough, but I cannot seem to get this test to pass.
I am working with two monitors and this test fails when my VI is on either monitor with the message  "This VI's front panel does not reside entirely within the specified bounds (1280 x 1024)" my current screen resolutionis 1280 x 1024, so I assume as long as my VI front panel fits within one screen it should be a pass.
I can clearly see my that VI front panel (and block diagram for that matter) fits within the screen of either monitor. If I look at the VI properties of my VI the Window Size is 474 x 513, could anybody please suggest when why this might be failing.

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi Norbert,
Thanks for the prompt reply, my asking the question and your reply has made me play with this a little deeper and I have managed to solve my problem.
In case anyone else has a similar problem here are the details.
When you have two monitors and look at the Windows properites you see one monitor is identified as 1 and the other as 2, thses identities are based on the graphics card and the which monitor is plugged into which ouptput connector. You can then chose which monitor you wish to act as your primary monitor. You would suspect it would not matter once you have selected your primary monitor BUT IT DOES.
    My inital set-up
Left Hand Monitor    - idenity 2 selected to be primary monitor
Right Hand Monitor - identiy 1
With this set-up everything looks and acts as I expect it to task bar, icons etc on my primarry monitor.  However if you run the VI Analyser it will fail Panel Size and Position on BOTH the left and right hand monitors.
I crawlled under my desk and swapped the monitors cables round so now the set-up is
Left Hand Monitor    - idenity 1 selected to be primary monitor
Right Hand Monitor - identiy 2
Now the VI Analysers Panel Size & Position Tests will pass on the left hand monitor but fail on the right hand monitor, just as would expect.
It appears that LabVIEW is looking not only at the windows "Primary Monitor" setting but also the identies, this does not seem the behaviour I would expect nor the correct behaviour.
    cheers

  • Stress Test using em console in 11g results in lesser number of instances

    Hi All,
We are doing Stress/Load testing using em console in SOA Suite 11g. The problem we are encountering is, em fails to create as many instances as it should. Under "Additional Test Options", we check the "Enable Stress Test" checkbox and give different values for following parameters:
    Concurrent Threads     50
    Loops per Thread     20
    Delay in Milliseconds     1000
But instead of creating 1000 instances of this composite, em console create only 998 and fails to create 2 instances without giving any error in console logs or server logs.
    Similarly, with below setting:
    Concurrent Threads     50
    Loops per Thread     40
    Delay in Milliseconds     1000
Instead of creating 2000 instances it creates only 1991 and 9 instances fail without any error. Is this a known bug or we are missing something here? Any pointers will be helpful.
    Thanks,
    Akash

In case you have multiple instances running, whereas any instance has an unique value started as correlation, when the engine receives the messages for the intermediate receive operation it will be routed without problems to the right instance. In this case, it is not a problem if the engine creates a new composite instance for the intermediate messages.
We have this situation in Production without any problem.
Anyway should be simple to simulate the same situation in your development environment to make sure it works well in your scenario.

  • Weblogic server hangs during stress-testing -- possibly EJB deadlocks

    Hi
While running stress tests on our application, our WLS 4.5.1 hangs even at a
mere load of 20 users. We are running on a Solaris machine. Database: Oracle
8.1.5, running on the same machine. Using oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver as
the JDBC driver, and using JTS as the transaction manager.
When we did a thread dump (complete lis at the end of this post) and
basically we are seeing a bunch of our entity beans in a "locked" state. A
common pattern we see in the thread dumps is that
    [1] weblogic.ejb.internal.BaseEJBContext.lock(BaseEJBContext.java:180)
    [2] weblogic.ejb.internal.StatefulEJBCache.bind(StatefulEJBCache.java:250)
    [3]
    weblogic.ejb.internal.StatefulEJBObject.getContextForInvoke(StatefulEJBObjec
    t.java:88)
    [4] weblogic.ejb.internal.BaseEJBObject.preInvoke(BaseEJBObject.java:164)
    [5] com.nps.ers.ejb.organization.<Our Entiy Bean>EOImpl.<a get
    method>(ERSSystemConfigurationBeanEOImpl.java:1539)
    [6] com.nps.ers.ejb.awardnomination.<Our entity bean>.<some method>
After more thorough studying of EJB transactions, we changed the isolation
level of all our beans from TRANSACTION_SERIALIZED to
TRANSACTION_READ_COMMITTED and made sure all our beans say TX_REQUIRED for
their transactionAttribue. Still, this problem persists.
The basic scenario we are load testing is that of multiple users logging
into the system and trying to access a particular user's record, and right
now, this is causing deadlocks at 20 users.
What we fail to understand is that --
    (a) even if a method is attempting a read-only access to the data, why would
it try to obtain a lock? or why would it matter that the data is locked?
Some of the locks we are seeing are actually on a bean that is used for
    read-only purposes.
    (b) if 2 or more processes are trying to access the same record, based on
whichever process got their first, shouldn't one succeed, and the other go
    into a 'waiting' state?
We have also opened this issue with weblogic support, and the response so
far has been that there "may" be a bug in weblogic 4.5.1 itself that's
causing it, and they need to look into it further. Other similar posts in
the newsgroup haven't been resolved either -- hence this general plea for
help. Please advise if you've any suggestions. Thanks
    Sandeep

I know in the past when we ran into this type of problem, it took us a while
to think through and identify the problems.
    Thanks,
    Gary

Generally this indicates a deadlock in the order that you access your
entity beans. Please follow-up with [email protected]. There is
some instrumentation that you can turn on to help spot why this is
    occurring.

    Hi
While running stress tests on our application, our WLS 4.5.1 hangs even
    at a
mere load of 20 users. We are running on a Solaris machine. Database:Oracle
8.1.5, running on the same machine. Usingoracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver as
the JDBC driver, and using JTS as the transaction manager.
When we did a thread dump (complete lis at the end of this post) and
basically we are seeing a bunch of our entity beans in a "locked" state.A
common pattern we see in the thread dumps is that
    [1] weblogic.ejb.internal.BaseEJBContext.lock(BaseEJBContext.java:180)
    [2]weblogic.ejb.internal.StatefulEJBCache.bind(StatefulEJBCache.java:250)
    [3]
    weblogic.ejb.internal.StatefulEJBObject.getContextForInvoke(StatefulEJBObjec
    t.java:88)
    [4]weblogic.ejb.internal.BaseEJBObject.preInvoke(BaseEJBObject.java:164)
    [5] com.nps.ers.ejb.organization.<Our Entiy Bean>EOImpl.<a get
    method>(ERSSystemConfigurationBeanEOImpl.java:1539)
    [6] com.nps.ers.ejb.awardnomination.<Our entity bean>.<some method>
After more thorough studying of EJB transactions, we changed theisolation
level of all our beans from TRANSACTION_SERIALIZED to
TRANSACTION_READ_COMMITTED and made sure all our beans say TX_REQUIREDfor
their transactionAttribue. Still, this problem persists.
The basic scenario we are load testing is that of multiple users logging
into the system and trying to access a particular user's record, andright
now, this is causing deadlocks at 20 users.
What we fail to understand is that --
    (a) even if a method is attempting a read-only access to the data, whywould
it try to obtain a lock? or why would it matter that the data is locked?
Some of the locks we are seeing are actually on a bean that is used for
    read-only purposes.
    (b) if 2 or more processes are trying to access the same record, basedon
whichever process got their first, shouldn't one succeed, and the othergo
    into a 'waiting' state?
We have also opened this issue with weblogic support, and the responseso
far has been that there "may" be a bug in weblogic 4.5.1 itself that's
causing it, and they need to look into it further. Other similar postsin
the newsgroup haven't been resolved either -- hence this general pleafor
help. Please advise if you've any suggestions. Thanks
    Sandeep
