Problem I am having with StringTokenizer

Question

I have a .csv file that I am trying to parse and import.
Here is the layout of the file:
"Date Posted","Transaction Type","Check No.","Description","Transaction Amount"
"03/30/2006","DEBIT","","Chevron","-15.93"
"03/30/2006","DEBIT","","Somewhere Special","-10.00"
"03/30/2006","DEBIT","","123 Store 0330 S","-29.26"
My code looks like this:

        BufferedReader in = new BufferedReader(new FileReader(this.filePath));
        String inputLine;
        inputLine = in.readLine();  //<header line>

            StringTokenizer t = new StringTokenizer(inputLine, "\",\"");
            date = t.nextToken();   //date
            String temp = t.nextToken();    //transaction type (unused)
            String checkNum = t.nextToken();    //check number
            if(!checkNum.equals("") || !checkNum.equals(" ")) {
                checkNum = "CHECK #" + checkNum + " ";
            description = checkNum + t.nextToken();   //description
            amount = t.nextToken(); //amount
            memo = "";
            updateFiles();
        in.close();The problem is with the checkNumber. The token gets skipped over... I don't want it to do that. I want the check Number, if there is no value, to get assigned a blank string ("").
Is there any way around this? I can't figure out how to keep it from skipping that item.

StringTokenizer is a legacy class that is retained for compatibility reasons although its use is discouraged in new code. It is recommended that anyone seeking this functionality use the split method of String or the java.util.regex package instead.
