Problem in positioning of the Overall Result Row when using a hierarchy

Hello All,
i've built a query on a hierarchy and i want the 'Overall Result' to be displayed at the bottom.
I've made the following setting in the Query Designer
<b>Query Properties -> Display -> Results Position -> Bottom/Right</b>
but still, the 'Overall Result' is displayed at the top of the result rows.
Could some one please tell me if this is how the functionality is expected to work when a hierarchy is used for display ?
We are on BW3.1 SP 9
Best Regards,
Sanjay<b></b>

Hi Roberto,
could you please let me know if the following analysis of mine is correct.
The Overall Result will be dispalyed at the top if the 'Position of Lower-Level Nodes' is set to 'Down'(default setting) in the Hierarchy Properties of
the characteristic. If the 'Overall Result' is required to be at the bottom then 'Position of Lower-Level Nodes' has to be set to 'Up'. It is not possible to display the Overall Result at the bottom with the 'Position of Lower-Level Nodes' set to 'Down'
Will greatly appreciate your help !
Best Regards,
Sanjay

  • How to display Average, not Sum, in the "Overall Result" row of a report?

    Every report I look at or execute that has an Overall Result row always shows a total(sum) of all the cells in the column.  I recently came across one that shows the average of all the cells in the column and after looking at the query in BEx Query Designer 7.0 and BEx Analyzer 7.0 I cannot seem to find out where to set this.  All of the Key Figures are listed as "Nothing Defined" in the Calculations tab which is exactly what they should be, but where can I set that yellow-highlighted Overall Result row to calculate an average, not a sum?
    Example can be found in this picture:
    http://img87.imageshack.us/img87/6757/pic1yp.jpg
    Thanks for the help!

    My issue was that I was setting my KF's to 'Calculate Result As: Average' within the Query View that I was editing but the change was not showing on my screen when I have that View opened within the Analyzer.  Infact, it still is showing totals.  But when I execute my Web Template that references this Query View, the graph does display the result row using Averages.  Seems to just be a visibility bug, but it is now working.
    Thanks for the reminder about that property KP,

  • Overall Result Row is not the Sum of Individual Values!

    I am frustrated with a weird problem.  I have an expense report in which Expense1 is shown a value of 8,126.  If I drilldown by company code, the sum of the company codes is 8,235, but the "Overall Result" row is showing 8,126.
    I tried drilling down by GL accounts, cost centers, profit centers, material and even currency.  For all of these drilldowns the "Overall Result" row is 8,126 but the individual values sum out to be 8,235.
    First I thought it could be "Zero Suppression" that is hiding some values from the display.  But "Zero Suppression" was not active at all.  I have checked the LISTCUBE and saw that the Expense1 should be 8,235 and not 8,126.  The key figure properties "Calculate Result As" and "Calculate Single Values As" are set to "Nothing Defined" and "Use Default Direction".  But still for some strange reason, the "Overall Result" row is different than the sum of individual rows.  It's driving me crazy as I have ran out of ideas to figure out what's happening.  Could someone help me with this?  I would appreciate any input with points!

    Hi,
    Remove the 'Suppress Zero rows/columns' from the query definition and then check the values.
    Column A might have value, but for the same row column B might have zero, hence the row was not shown in the result set, but the overall result will include all such values as well, even thought it was not shown in the result set.
    HTH,
    regards,
    Nataraj.

  • Query with a condition - Overall results row is wrong

    Hello,
    I have a query that uses a condition.  The query gives me the top 10 brands according to the Net Sales.  The query itself runs fine.  I just noticed however that the Overall Result row isn't giving me the correct number.
    For example:
    <b>BRAND            NETSALES    MARGIN %</b>
    Brand1           $100        25%
    Brand2           $60         10%
    Brand3           $20         15%
    <b>OVERALL RESULT   $210        2%</b>
    As you can see it does not add up or average correctly.  This query has no macros or anything, it only uses a condition.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Nick

    A workaround I have found is the manual directions in this OSS note: 572910
    Anyone have any follow up?
    Thanks.

  • Query with a condition - Overall results row displays incorrect value

    Hi All,
    I have a bw query with top 40 conditions. However, The Overall Result Row Figures Do Not Equal The Sum of the Column Rows.
    Although the top condition is activated, the overall result still displays the overall result of the whole report.
    I have 3 columns in the report
    Selected Period
    Prior Period and
    Variance
    The formula for variance is (Selected Period/Prior Period)-1.
    Does anyone have an idea to fix this?
    Thank you so much in advance.
    Have a great day!

    Hi Gaurav,
    Thank you so much for your reply, however this does not solve fully the issue.
    Changing the properties to "Summation" will indeed provide me with the correct sum for the "selected period" and "Prior Period." However what I need in the Overall Result Row for the "Variance" column is not the total but instead the value when the total of Selected Period is divided by Prior Period then minus 1.
    Overall Variance = (Overall Selected Period/Overall Prior Period)-1
    Do you know a way to make this possible.
    Thank you so much.

  • How to get  the Overall result and Avg in Query

    Hi
    I am facing a problem to find Overall result and Avg for the keyfigure.
    Here is the scenario.
    I have a fiscalperiod ,qty in query column and material in row, when user enters the fiscalperiod(004.2006 to 006.2006)
    the output should come as
       0406 0506 0606  Avg
    M1  10  20   40     35
    M2  20  40   30     45
    res 30  60  70
    i can able to get the overall result not avg,
    if i change the properities of keyfigure 'Calicuate Result as 'Average of all values'',then i am loosing the overall result.
    eitherway i can able to get one result,not both.
    anybody can help.
    Thanks
    Madhu

    You have 2 key figures and you have put Material in the ROWS.
    Remove Material from ROWS and instead use 0FISCYEAR in the row selection.
    You can create 12 Key figures for each month and use either Filer or Free Characteristic using 0CALMONTH to restrict the month for the selection Variable.
    For the Key Figures use "Calculate Single Value as" Average.
    Create another formula as KF1KF2....+KF12 to get the sum of average.

  • Issue in the Overall Result

    Dear Experts
    I need your help to solve my problem. I have one BEx report base on a cube and in which I use Key Figure calculated, but when I execute the query, I have on the Overall Result line the result of the formula and not the total result of all items. To illustrate, I have a column with an exchange rate calculated and another column with a Net Value calculated with this exchange rate. If I run the query by displaying all the items, the result is correct, but when I display only the total, instead of the sum of all items, I have the total recalculated with the formulas. How to solve this problem?
    Thx in advance for your help!

    what i understand from your comment is irrespective of whether your drill down via items in report
    the calcuation ( exchange rate and netvalue should happen at each item level and aggregation .
    am i right???
    if yes then you need to create a formula variable on sales doc number and another one on  sales item no.
    definition of formula variable would be replacement path on corresponding infoobject mentioned above.
    and attribute value constant 1.
    mulitply both the formula variable in your CKF  netvalue .
    calculation would always happen at sales doc item level and then aggregation .
    another option is to use exception aggregation .

  • Using javascript to change the "Overall Result" cell in WAD

    Hi experts,
    I am trying to use javascript to change the text of the "Overall Result" cell in my web template using BI 7.0. I am not familiar with javascript, but I this is what I have done so far.
    I dragged the web item "Script" into my web template and I inserted the following code:
    function change_overall_result_to_average() {
    var cell = document.getElementsByTagName("TD");
    var cellText;
    for (i = 0; i < cell.length; i++)
          cellText = cell<i>.innerText;
               if (cellText == "Overall Result")
                     cell<i>.innerText = "Average";
    In the XHTML view I am using added the onload function to start the javascript every time the web template is loaded. The code works fine when the web template is first loaded and the cell text is changed to "Average". However, if I navigate in my web template, the javascript function is not triggered, and the cell is therefore changed back to "Overall Result". For example, this happens when I pick another selection from one of my dropdown boxes, such as changing the selection from year 2008 to year 2007.
    I don't really know how to solve this problem in an easy way, and the current solution is not good enough. I hope one of you guys can suggest an easy way of fixing this:-)
    Best Regards,
    Morten

    Woodstock apparently renders some Javascript/DOM with some homegrown widget framework which on its turn renders the HTML DOM tree instead of plain vanilla HTML. Correct me if I'm wrong, to confirm this, just view the generated HTML source of the page.
    After some Googling I found out that you need getProps() and setProps() to get and set element attributes respectively.
    [http://google.com/search?q=webuijsf+domnode+site:sun.com].
    If you stucks with this, I recommend you to post this question at a forum or mailinglist devoted to Woodstock, e.g at their own homepage at dev.java.net or the Netbeans forum at nabble.com. You're here at a Sun JSF forum, not at a Woodstock forum.

  • Problem regarding data function 'SUMGT' (Overall Result) in BEx query desig

    Hi,
    I have created one query where I want to see the inventory data month wise. That's why at first I have placed 0calmonth (with variable) in column, secondly kept all the key figures which I want to see month wise under one structure, then placed the structure under 0calmonth in column. Now in that structure I have one key figure like 'total stock' and another global calculated key figure '% of total inventory' (='total stock' <b>%A</b> <b>SUMGT</b> 'total stock').
    Now the problem is when ever I'm giving the value of month from 02.2006 to 05.2006, it is calculating the value of '% of total inventory' for every month with respect to the overall result of 'total stock' for month 05.2006.
    But I want to calculate the value of '% of total inventory' for each month with respect to the overall result of 'total stock' for corresponding month.
    Please suggest what I'll do now.
    Thanks,
    Arijit.

    Hi,
    now i got whats the issue is.
    Check aggregation properties of 'total stock'(RSD1>provide tech name of total stock>display-->aggragation tab)...
    Exception aggregation would have been set to <b>'Last Value'</b> with some time char as aggregation ref characteristic..
    That is the reason why  SUMGT (or %SUMGT) is calculating on Last value of the 0calmonth interval.
    i.e if you provide 02.2006 to 07.2006, %of total inventory for every month would be with respect to value of 07.2006...
    Hope this helps...
    Dont forget to reward if it helps!
    thanks

  • The overall result shows * instead of the value

    Dear Experts,
    In my report i've qty in columns and item in rows. The qty is in all Ea. (Each). So when i run the report i thought all the noumber would be added for qty and displayed in the overall result.
    But in the overall result it shows a * . However in the formula bar in excel it displays a number like 44000.
    I tried using nodim() and it worked, but my question is since the qty is in all Ea.'s shouldnt it add up the value to be displayed in the overall result.
    Can someone shed some light.
    Thank you...

    No Jr., i dont any record with a blank value.
    Wond, i agree with you. I thought i should see the total since all the items are in Ea.
    Is there anything else i can check.

  • Check complete. The overall result of this check is: Failed ASM ins

    Need steps to clean that plz
    Check complete. The overall result of this check is: Failed <<<<
    Problem: The installer has detected that you may have an Automatic Storage Management (ASM) instance improperly configured or one that was not properly cleaned up from a previous install.
    Recommendation: You must completely remove the ASM instance by deleting the entry for it from the oratab file, or you must configure it properly by ensuring that the oratab file is updated to point to a valid Oracle Home where ASM is configured.
    ========================================================

    Either remove the line in the /etc/oratab file for the ASM instance, or add it if it is missing.
    The file shows the proper format of the line.

    How do I get this result from PowerPivot.
    If I only use normal Excel Pivot I could use Calculated Field and get the wanted result in a snatch.

  • Count the no.of rows without using count function

    Hi,
    How to count the no.of rows without using the count function?
    Thanks,

    they won't be 100% accurate. You're correct, Bluefrog, but the same goes for doing a count(*) (depending on the size of the table, ofcourse):
    the table being queried might be under DML (deletes/inserts), and the next count(*) might give different results.
    Both approaches will never be 100% accurate.
    But simply selecting num_rows will be much much faster than doing a count(*).
    Counting the number of rows always reminds me of this ongoing discussion, by the way:
    http://asktom.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=100:11:0::::P11_QUESTION_ID:127412348064#14136093079164 ;)
    Usually knowing the number of records by approximatly is sufficient, imo. 1000000 or 1000007 records: I don't care, don't need to know that.
    I've never needed to know the exact number of records in a table in my code, or been given a requirement that forced me to.
