the noise happens whenever i turn on the player. it didnt make it when i first got it but after i listened to a couple songs it stopped and started making the clicking noise and now it wont play anything. it goes straight to the recovery screen and when i make a selection it spends anywhere from 30 to 90 minutes say that it is doing that selection. whenever i connect it to my computer my computer doesnt recognize that anything is plugged in. can anyone help me?

  • Random Problems with Zen Micro? Try a diff. USB cable

I know people have mentioned this in other posts, but I thought I would reiterate it here. Many people seem to be complaining that their player is not recognized, or only sometimes recognized, or recognized by Windows (as a USB device) but not by their Creative software, or songs won't transfer, etc. Well, I had some similar problems which ALL went away when I started using a different USB cable - the one that shipped with the Micro just doesn't seem to work consistently.
So, if you are having problems with your player that you can't seem to solve any other way, you may want to try a different USB cable. It worked for me.
Hope this helps - I am (now) loving my new Micro!

I tried a different USB cable also, I thought that it would help, but I still got the same problems. I can almost guarantee that although you think you may have solved your issues, they WILL come back.
I've also been experiencing the "Player Not Connected" problem with my Zen Micro.
I've also had the problem where the Zen Micro just freezes in the "Docked" screen even after it has been disconnected from the PC
I've noticed that these are common problems with Zen Micros with the new firmware (.0.03)
My old Zen Micro with the old, original firmware did NOT have this connectivity problem
Creative should investigate these issues associated with this new firmware, or maybe even making the old firmware available for download to see if this really is the source of all these problems.

  • Problems With Zen Touch Turn

After just recently purchasing a Zen Touch in December 2005, I already have problems with it.
I have never dropped it or hit it. I plugged it in to re-charge one day after using it and when it was done charging I turned it on, used it for 5 minutes then set it down. The next morning I went to turn it on to use it, and it wouldn't turn on. The blue light at the side on the power button was on, but the screen just wouldn't show up. Now the blue light won't turn off. I have read about these problems with Zen Micro freezing up and read about Zen Touch freezing up back in 2004 when it was released. I have phoned the number but couldn't seem to get through. Should I consider taking it in? Or is there an easier way?

Have you tried resetting it's Connect to the mains adapter and press the tiny recessed button on the side of the player. Don't use anything sharp to press it, a bent paper clip is best.

  • Frozen problem of ZEN Stone p

    Hi all,
I need your help with my ZEN Stone plus (2GB). It was bought last December. Recently, it always gets frozen?with the?showing of?"CREATIVE" letters?after I press the play button. I cannot get to?the menu. All the buttons lose their functions. I cannot even turn it off. In addition, my laptop doesn't recognize it'swhen I plug it into the USB portal.
When I plug it into my laptop, the light for recharging is always on. It never flashes even if it is out of battery.
I have?tried the "reset button". But it dosen't work at all. The same problem?repeats. Can anyone help me out? Thank you very much.

$Re: Frozen problem of ZEN Stone plus Have the same basic problem, slightly different symptoms.
Had just recharged my 2GB player (w/speaker) and added some songs and a podcast not half an hour before.
Was playing songs one at a time but got distracted. When I went to choose the next song pressed the button up top to bring the screen up. It came up but then winked out. Figured it timed out so I turned it back on again.
Showed the Creative screen, got to the "Zen Stone" screen and then just sat there and sat there. After what seemed like forever got onto the website and followed the directions about rebooting and restarted it. Same thing. Tried it again. No luck.
Thought to hook it up to the computer to see if that made a difference. The player came on automatically but stil stalled. And? the computer doesn't recognize it. No icon of any kind, nothing in "Safely Remove Hardware" or a sign of it anywhere else. Even opened Creative Media Lite and it says there's no player connected. So I've hit reboot and have left it turned off.
Thought about letting the battery run down but since I can't be certain it will recharge even though it lights up when connected to the USB - and there could be a solution but only if it has power - I'm not going to do that. There's nothing specific I can find in the Troubleshooting about "frozen log in".AND "computer won't recognize".
I don't care about the files. But I haven't had a moment of trouble from it until this happened - no computer interface issues, battery life problems, nothing. I love this little thing. People are always asking me about it when they see it clipped to my shirt collar when I'm out. Haven't had it long and can't afford to replace it right now.
Really hoping that it's something fixable.

  • Two problems with Zen Vision: M

Hi all. I'll give my player's specs before describing the problem(s):Zen Vision: M 30 GBVersion .40.02 Anyway, I've had my Zen for about 4 months now, and up until now, it's worked perfectly. Recently, for the first time, it froze on me. I figure it was because I was shuffling through songs on random too quickly, as I see other people have had this problem too. So I reset the player, but it only rebuilt halfway; on the "Rebuilding" screen, the green line stops about halfway through. Now, whereas I once had about 2600 songs I'm down to a little over 000. I didn't think it was that big of a problem; I've either got all my songs backed up on my computer or CD. But when I connected the Zen to my computer, my computer couldn't read the device. Sort of, that is. My Zen can still charge through my computer and when I plug it into the computer, a message will pop up asking me what I'd like to do with the MP3 device. However, when I go to Zen Vision: M Series Media Explorer, I get the message "Your player is not connected. Please connect your Zen Vision: M Series to the computer." I went through the FAQ at the top of the message board and tried basically every solution outside of trying the Zen on another computer. I'm thinking it's a problem with the player, not my computer. It still acts erratically at times- like, if I leave it off for an extended amount of time and turn it on, it'll go into rebuilding mode. Other than that, though, it's fine. Could the hard dri've be corrupted Any help would be appreciated.

I have the same problem. It all started yesterday when I was installing the cd drivers in my new computer. I have searched numerous forums and some people had to return the product. Please admins help on this issue as I understand it is very serious.

  • Problem with Zen Xt

I purchased a refurbished Zen Xtra back in May and had the player lock up on several occasions. It would eventually resolve if I let the batteries drain and then recharge. The last time it happened I came to these forums and learned how to enter recovery mode. I tried to do a firmware update which failed and now the player will only boot into recovery mode. When I attempt to do the firmware update I get the message player not connected. I can see the player connected in windows and can actuall browse the HD which is obviously now empty. How can this be resolved?

Re: Problem with ZEN MX >FYes, it's true. Creative Centrale is full of **bleep**.:robotmad: You can use it only to one thing. To convert films from your computer to their stupid format called "cmv". But even with this it's stil the same problem. This is crap, because sometimes you can do it, but sometimes not. Beside of this Creative Centrale doesn't have any good functions. For further users - don't install Creative Centrale! You will have more free space and do all things (without moving films to watch on your player) just from your computer and not this **bleep**.

  • Power and Sync problems with Zen Vision:M

)Power and Sync problems with Zen Vision:MX Lately, my Vision M is having problems that when I plug it into the USB port on any PC to charge it, it lights up for a moment and then goes blank.
When I unplug it and reseat the usb cable, nothing happens. When I try to turn it on, it's dead. This happens even though it's not fully depleted of battery energy.
Pressing the reset button does not do anything. The only thing that I've found that will work is to open it up and unplug the battery. But even that is starting to not work.
This doesn't happen every time I use it, but it is happening quite a bit. It's gotten to the point today that I can't even charge the battery at all.
Any suggestions? I don't think it's the battery, as it does charge when I don't have these issues, but I'm not really positi've of that either.

The connector on the motherboard check it . It may need to be resoldered. The last time I ran into those symptoms that was the solution.

  • Problems with Zen 16GB (and contacting customer suppo

I got some odd problems with my player.. I tried to contact customer support with that email whateverformthingy but it just always returned me to starting page of creative (the one where you choose region/language) when I clicked Submit.. No autoresponse either.
So, GJ with customer support. I hope, whatever the problem is, it will be fixed soon.
Anyway, here's what I tried to send to customer support:
    "Hey,
I got 6GB Zen at Christmas and its acting just plain weird at the moment:
    When connected through USB player
*keeps blinking full green battery&empty battery with lightning bolt over it
*reboots itself time to time. I was about to move files over and it just kept rebooting every 5~0 seconds until I un-plugged it and plugged to another USB port - after that it worked for couple minutes at started same behavior again. After I got the player it worked fine, no rebooting on it own as I moved couple GB music to it..
    When not connected
*player turns display on for couple seconds every ~hour~couple hours. It doesn't show any Creative or Zen logos, its just blacklight on with full brightness for couple seconds after which it turns off again
*the battery dies fast.. possibly because of the display blinking on all the time?
The player upgraded firmware on it own when I installed software, so it has been .20.02 all the time. Also tried reinstall firmware with the recovery tool.
Any help would be welcome before I start fix things with sledgehammer.
I'd guess that full green battery&lightning bolt over empty one means battery is critical? However, the player doesn't attempt to recharge battery. Unless I remember terribly wrong, the recharging animation is empty battery filling in blocks and getting empty again, if you understand what I mean.. Anyways. What really irritates me is the player rebooting itself when I try to recharge/move files to it and that blinking display on when I don't use it..
Any help? Someone go poke the guy who's supposed to keep customer support's emailform working?
    -Lanka
..or maybe email form didn't like me suggesting sledgehammer.

    Thanks.
Also apparently my first message did reach customer support through email form.. Suppose I was just expecting to see something like "Message sent" after I clicked Submit - not getting bounced back to region selection.
I'll continue this with customer support.
    -Lanka

  • Start-Up problems in Zen Nano 51

Greetings... I just bought?3 Zen?Nano players 2 months ago, everything was working perfectly but now I'm having problems with one of them, when I press the play button to power on my player, the screen shows the Creative logo but immediately it turns off, I've tried to format the player but when I connect it to the PC, the player indeed?appears as?a removeble dri've?in My PC but when I try to explore it, a message appears that says something about like: ...the device cannot be opened due to an I/O error... I'm using XP SP2, and I have tried to format the zen even in safe mode but no response at all, every time the player is detected but the system is unable to open it. I really hope that you can help me. Is there a way to reset physically this player?, I'm going to try updating the firmware but if the system isn?t able to access the device maybe this couldn?t be possible. I expect any comments about my problem, thanks again and have an excellent day. Regards.

    I would try [url="http://us.creative.com/support/downloads/download.asp?MainCategory=23&nRegionFK=&nCountryFK =&nLanguageFK=&sOSName=Windows+XP&region=&Product_ Name=ZEN+Nano+52MB&Product_ID=58&modelnumber=&driv erlang=033&OS=0&drivertype=0&x=29&y=8">reloading the Nano's firmware.[/url]
    Notes:
    * This firmware only works with Creative ZEN Nano players. Do not install this firmware for other players.
    * You will lose all content in your player when you install the firmware. Back up any audio or data files in your player to your computer before installing the firmware!
    * To install this firmware, do the following:
. Download the ZENNano_PCFW_LF__2_03.exe file into your local hard disk.
    2. Make sure your player is connected to your computer.
    3. Double-click the downloaded file.
    4. If you are prompted to reset your player, click OK.
    5. If the Find New Hardware dialog box appears on the computer screen, follow the instructions on the screen to complete the wizard.
    6. When the firmware download dialog box appears, click Start and follow the instructions on the screen.

  • Problems w/ Zen Xtra 3

    hello everyone!!!
i'm having trouble with my Zen Xtra... i opened Creative MediaSource Organizer to transfer my mp3's to the Zen Xtra from my Music Library... and it wouldn't let me do it, there is a msg about an error, it would say, "Error: Unable to create file. Restart player and try again." my mp3's are ok, they are not corrupted or anything, it plays into my computer... i restarted the player and its still has same result...
another problem is, i have like 000+ mp3 file stored on the Zen Xtra and i dont know what happened, but i lost everything. i lost every mp3 file... the thing is, i still have my playlist but there's no music stored on it, its all gone... this problem happened before i cant transfer mp3's in the player...
i even reset the player but it still has the same problem, it didnt solved it...
hope u guys could help me.... thank you...

I have a similar problem with my Zen Xtra 40GB, however I did not lose all of my music. I did lose all but one of my playlists however the mp3 files that were on those playlists are still in my music library. I also get the same error message "Error: Unable to create file. Restart player and try again." Is there ANY other way to get around this besides cleaning off my player and losing all of my music? I recently had to clean off my hard dri've and lost 60 gigs worth of files. I don't want to lose another 20 gigs (my player is only half full) of songs. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Sorry if I didn't follow the correct procedure by asking a different question than originally posted. I wasn't sure how this works so if need be I'll start a new thread with my question.

  • Strange problem with Zen Style 300

I got a Zen Style 300 for my birthday and it is given me some problems. I tried looking at this forum and on google, but so far haven't found anything like it. What happens is that during the sync process, some folders on my portable harddisk (which is where the music is located) get renamed into names with strange symbols and become unreadable. The strange thing is that it doesn't happen with all files and just as strange is that it does happen with files not related to the sync that are located in a completely different folder. You can imagine I got quite scared the first time, afraid of having lost my music collection, but on restart everything was fine again. Until I plugged in the ZEN again that is.
My second problem is probably related to it. Part of the files transfered to the player don't show up when I try to listen to them with the player. When I check they have been copied to the player correctly, yet somehow they don't show up.
I have Windows XP and tried syncing with the standard Creative software, MediaMonkey and iTunes but they all face the same problem. Although with the second problem it might happen that files copied one way don't show up, while the same files transfered with a different program do. All 3 cause the problem with my harddisk. I tried formatting the player and updating it. So anyone has any idea what might cause this?

I have a similar problem. It recognized and paired with a Sony Ericsson MW600 Hi-Fi Bluetooth Stereo Headset once. I lost connection, could no longer connect, and tried to re-pair it. Now it recognizes the the headset's name (MW600), but when you try to pair with it stays on a "Please wait..." message. It will stay that way forever until I press the back (left) arrow. Then the message says "Remote Device not responding" and pairing fails. This MW600 headset pairs with other devices (cell phone, PC) just fine, though, so it's not malfunctioning.
I suspect this might be a Bluetooth version compatibility issue? I say that because when I connect to a Jawbone Era (pretty new device, probably latest Bluetooth spec), everything goes fine.
Also, if I clear all devices, then try to pair to just the Sony Ericsson MW600, I can get the M300 in a state where it hangs and will not respond to anything. I then have to press the reset button using a paperclip to start over.

  • Posted these problems of Zen Micro bef

oh man, I posted this problem before, and I'll probably get the same answer, but anyways, I'm kinda mad because my Zen Micro is having soooo many problems right now. .battery drain when not on, and no, I do not have that one fimware that has that known problem. 2. if the headphone is not in just right, the sound when seem like it's far away. 3. If I touch the top of the jack of the headphones that goes into the Micro, the music will stop playing, until I ge the jack EXACTLY in the right place. that is all the problems I have right now......but anyways, It is very annoying to recharge your Micro overnight, take it school, only to have the battery dead cuz it said overnight after it was done charging........ I'll probably get the same answer I got last time, contact creative, but I was wondering if you think the place I bouught it at would take it back, (Circuit City)i'm gettin pretty mad Creative....... I bought this hoping I wouldnt have this many problems.....Message Edited by augi55 on 08-20-2005 09:3 AM

On account of it being a headphone jack problem, of which there are many, it's quite possible they'll cover it for free even if you're beyond the warranty period (Parts: year, Labor: 90 days). Normally you'll need your receipt for proof of purchase date, but again, with the issue being a headphone jack, it may not even be required.

  • Problem with zen-nano-plus!! please help

i have the zen-nano-plus 52mb. and i try to update the firmware with latest version but i don't delete the music files in it.
i have started the instalation and the program asked me to delete the files on zen. (i didn't care keeping the files, so i continue the instalation)

Go to Creative.com and click the Support link. Look for the firmware driver for your Zen Nano and follow the directions. I had to do this to fix my Zen Nano Plus, because it had the exact same problem that yours had.
    Good luck!

  • Problem with zen configured as alarm with speak

I decided to just hook it up to my altec computer speakers with subwoofer (wow! sounds great). the alarm worked fine. but using the sleep timer and alarm, it kept cutting out. i'm using a simple connector line from the zen to the subwoofer and the speakers are hooked to the woofer. if i disconnect the zen and touch the end of the connector, it "zaps" cause it's li've, i guess. but the zen will play and then cut out and stop then make a funny sound etc. am i hooked up right? don't wanna hurt the zen. also, i had the a/c power cord attached to the zen as well, but decided to disconnect it and run on battery in case that was causing some problem. So - long story and simple questions:
    is it connected ok
    should it be cutting out
    what should i do differently
the zen is fine when not hooked this way, no issues running thru my shure buds.
    thanks.

No, there's no sound when the zen is off...when the sleep timer shuts it down, a few seconds later the speaker/sub shut off. it's just that when it's on and connected to the zen, it fritzes out. stops and starts or just stops til i tap it. but not when on earbuds.
i don't know if it's something to do with the powered speaker system (subwoofer is powered) that's maybe too much for the zen? i'm gonna use some non-powered speakers i guess and try the same thing and see what happens.
anyone who knows about this stuff -- please help out :-)
    thanks for the reply, SSR..........
