Problem while accessing object in remote database
Hi All,
We have a procedure "UPDATE_CONV_DETAILS" created in the remote databse in the "apps" schema. The synonym for the procedure is created in the billing schema(present in the remote database). A dblink is created the local database through which we are tring to access the remote object "UPDATE_CONV_DETAILS".
Dblink script:
create public database link PRE_TO_CEL
connect to BILLING
identified by BILLING
using 'MAP1';
When trying to access the object from the local machine using the schema name.object_name it works fine:
SQL> DESC APPS.UPDATE_CONV_DETAILS@PRE_TO_CEL
PROCEDURE APPS.UPDATE_CONV_DETAILS@PRE_TO_CEL
Argument Name Type In/Out Default?
IN_MOBILE VARCHAR2 IN
IN_SERVICE_CODE VARCHAR2 IN
IN_STATUS VARCHAR2 IN
OUT_ERROR_CODE NUMBER OUT
But when trying the access the same object using the synonym_name it gives the error:
SQL> DESC UPDATE_CONV_DETAILS@PRE_TO_CEL
ERROR:
ORA-04043: object APPS.UPDATE_CONV_DETAILS does not exist
Regards,
Kirti
You have two schema.
apps
billing
both reside in remote database.
there on procedure and on procedure u create one synonym and u want to access it.
ur remote database name is "map1"
on ur local database ur create one dblink to access remote database.
ORA-04043: object string does not exist
Cause: An object name was specified that was not recognized by the system. There are several possible causes:
- An invalid name for a table, view, sequence, procedure, function, package, or package body was entered. Since the system could not recognize the invalid name, it responded with the message that the named object does not exist.
- An attempt was made to rename an index or a cluster, or some other object that cannot be renamed.
Action: Check the spelling of the named object and rerun the code. (Valid names of tables, views, functions, etc. can be listed by querying the data dictionary.)

I haven't seen the ora-03116 problem.
What version of Portal are you running? Are the databases at the same version? Does your table have longs or anything strange in it?
Can you query the table via the synonyms and link in sqlplus as the application schema? This is a good test because it eliminates Portal.
You should try setting up synonyms etc for the emp table. If you still get the problem then Oracle may be able to replicate it. If not, then there's sth funny about your table maybe.
I agree with Vishnu about creating everything in sqlplus. I create all my links and synonyms in sqlplus. They are all public. I have 2 synonyms: one takes you over the link the other takes you to the right schema. It's flexible and it works.
data database: D grants to P (local schema) on table T
public syn T = D.T (sys) (get the right schema)
portal dbase : public db link to data database connecting as P
public syn T = T@dblink (sys) (over the link)
P is a schema created in both databases.
Test is: P in portal dbase can "select * from T" and gets the right data.
I never, ever refer to a schema when defining a form. ie. never P.T or D.T or whatever. I always refer simply to a synonym. For the above my form would be defined simply on the table T.
Hope this helps

Memory leak problem while passing Object to stored procedure from C++ code
Hi,
I am facing memory leak problem while passing object to oracle stored procedure from C++ code.Here I am writing brief description of the code :
1) created objects in oracle with the help of "create or replace type as objects"
2) generated C++ classes corresponding to oracle objects with the help of OTT utility.
3) Instantiating classes in C++ code and assigning values.
4) calling oracle stored procedure and setting object in statement with the help of setObject function.
5) deleted objects.
this is all I am doing ,and getting memory leak , if you need the sample code then please write your e-mail id , so that I can attach files in reply.
TIA
Jagendrajust to correct my previous reply , adding delete statement
Hi,
I am using oracle 10.2.0.1 and compiling the code with Sun Studio 11, following is the brief dicription of my code :
1) create oracle object :
create or replace type TEST_OBJECT as object
( field1 number(10),
field2 number(10),
field3 number(10) )
2) create table :
create table TEST_TABLE (
f1 number(10),f2 number (10),f3 number (10))
3) create procedure :
CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE testProc
data IN test_object)
IS
BEGIN
insert into TEST_TABLE( f1,f2,f3) values ( data.field1,data.field2,data.field3);
commit;
end;
4) generate C++ classes along with map file for database object TEST_OBJECT by using Oracle OTT Utility
5) C++ code :
// include OTT generate files here and other required header files
int main()
int x = 0;
int y = 0;
int z =0;
Environment *env = Environment::createEnvironment(Environment::DEFAULT);
Connection* const pConn =
env->createConnection"stmprf","stmprf","spwtrgt3nms");
const string sqlStmt("BEGIN testProc(:1) END;");
Statement * pStmt = pConn->createStatement(sqlStmt);
while(1)
TEST_OBJECT* pObj = new TEST_OBJECT();
pObj->field1 = x++;
pObj->field2 = y++;
pObj->field3 = z++;
pStmt->setObject(1,pObj);
pStmt->executeUpdate();
pConn->commit();

<img width=700 height=700 src="/img/WB.gif"></img>This is one of the least satisfactory aspects of site management in Dreamweaver, and several developers, including myself, have been pressuring the Dreamweaver team for some years to improve this. Who knows? They might eventually take notice.
The only way to do this at the moment is to create two site definitions, one nested inside the other. Set up the site definition normally based on htdocs as your site root. Then create a new site definition based on site. Dreamweaver will nag you that it can cause problems, but it won't actually stop you from doing it. The only potential problem is with site synchronization.
The problem with using site as the only basis for your site definition is that Dreamweaver automatically puts things like the Connections, Scripts, and other folders in the site root. So, everything ends up at the wrong level of the site hierarchy. Quite frankly, the whole thing is a bit of a pain. Dynamic site development was added to Dreamweaver only in version 6 (Dreamweaver MX), and no one had really thought through the need to store files outside the site root. -

Thanks and Regards,
Velrajan T.For installing JSTL, all you need are the jar files in the web-inf/lib directory.
- No entries in web.xml
- no tld files lying around
- no problems!
I think you may have a versioning problem here.
What version of Tomcat are you using?
With JSP1.2 (eg Tomcat 4), you should be using JSTL1.0. <%@ taglib prefix="c" uri="http://java.sun.com/jstl/core" %>
With JSP2.0 (eg Tomcat 5), you should use JSTL1.1. <%@ taglib prefix="c" uri="http://java.sun.com/jsp/jstl/core" %>
Note the difference in the URIs. - the second one includes a /jsp
Currently you are using the URI for JSTL1.0, but you look to have the tld from JSTL1.1. If you are using a JSP1.2 container, I don't think it could read this tld file, hence the error.
Try installing the correct version of JSTL, properly (ie as they tell you in the readme file) and it should all work.
Cheers,

A problem while getting a EJB remote interface from SJSAS 9.0
I hava deployed a session bean in SJSAS 9.0
I wrote some codes to get the remote interface as follow:
Context ctx = null;
Hashtable env = new Hashtable();
env.put ("java.naming.factory.initial","com.sun.jndi.cosnaming.CNCtxFactory");
env.put("java.naming.provider.url","iiop://127.0.0.1:3700");
try {
ctx = new InitialContext(env);
} catch (NamingException ex) {
ex.printStackTrace();
try {
Object cs =ctx.lookup(ejb.MySessionBean);
} catch (NamingException ex) {
ex.printStackTrace();
A exception occured during the lookup operation.

Anyone can solve this problem for me???
Thanks a lotWe don't recommend explicitly instantiating the CosNaming provider within a stand-alone java client when accessing beans within the Java EE SDK. We have a simpler approach that involves just instantiating the no-arg InitialContext. Details are in our EJB FAQ :

Big problem with a select using remote database
Hi Guy.
I have a big problem with a simple query, but this is a scenario.
Actuallly I'm in Alexandria - Egypt with a server with Oracle 10.2.0.4 database 32 bit on linux Red Hat as 4.8. the server can connect to another database oracle but 9.2.0.6 installed on Red Hat As 4.5 placed in Milano Italy . Ttwo networks are connected via two adsl cisco router with firewall and Vpn functions. In Egypt there isn't a very good adsl.
In Alexandria, I'm trying to connect to database in Italy with sqlplus. The sqlplus connected I write.. select * from addetti and all work fine.
My problem is that when I try to make the same select on a table with many columns oracle database kill me a session.
My table (ic_lav) is long 174 colums 1924 byte for row. Well when I write a query with select * from ic_lav all oracle close my session.
So I began to change my query I start to
select field1 from ic_lav... and work
select field1,field2,field3,..........field50 from ic_lav and work
select field1,field2,field3,..........field70 from ic_lav and doesn't work
the select work with 68 columns
problem: the query with more then 1064 byte for row doesn't work.
I've tryed with anoter big table with the same problem, but the select fwork with 65 columns...
Iit is obvious that there is any problem with the limit of the query.
The same query (select * from ic_lav) in localMilano)l work fine.
The same query (select * from ic_lav) in vpn with a better adsl line and openvpn software (NO CISCO firewall) WORK FINE.
The same query connectetd in Milano with a vpn make with analogic modem and remote access by windows work fine.
the query (make on my laptop connectet with vpn by cisco doesn't work.
In cisco firewall we haven't any error (cisco man tell me so)
on database 9 I found :
*** 2009-06-12 09:49:45.509
*** SESSION ID:(66.44406) 2009-06-12 09:49:45.497

*** 2009-06-12 09:49:45.509
ksedmp: internal or fatal error
Current SQL statement for this session:
select * from ic_lis where ditta
----- Call Stack Trace -----
but I don't understand why the lost connection problem (bug 3816595 A processstate dump is produced for a lost connection (12152) ) is caused by len of row
Anybody have some idea ?
Thank youMy table (ic_lav) is long 174 colums 1924 byte for row. Well when I write a query with select * from ic_lav all oracle close my session.Do you get any error?
If the query length is a problem, you could create a view and query the view instead to see if this problem is resolved. -
Lock-ups while inserting to a remote database using a dblink
Our application runs across multiple instances of Oracle 8i - 8.1.6.
Throughout the day we run some batch processes to transfer data across these instances using dblinks. Ocassionally the process locks up and further investigation shows that the server from which we are pushing information out seems to have executed an insert statement on a remote instance (insert into test_table@tst_dblink select * from local_table) and is waiting for a return from the remote server while the remote instance seems to be hanging too. Oracle does not return any error but simply waits forever for the statement to finish.
If anybody has experienced this before can you please share any information you may have on 1. how to prevent this from happening or 2. How to make oracle give up on the transaction, roll it back and raise an error?
Thanks a lot....Well, certainly we need more info to fix the problem! couple of "system states" on both the machines when the job is hanging would help. couple of "stack trace" of the shadow process will also help. please call local oracle support with the system state and stack trace.
Sounds like the job is hanging on some resource (lock,enque,latch,io...). oracle doesn't give up for few resources, like waiting on ST,latch, io etc. we have to kill the offending process if we want!!
just my 2 cents :)

What did you deploy? an EAR? Are the connections configured correctly? Have you check other logs on the remote server?
Which jdev Version? Which remote server?
