Problem while opening an excel file

Hi
I am trying to open an excel file by clicking a link where it goes to action class and then sets the content type to excel and I am opning it from therebut the strange thing is that a file download opens with open/save/cancel but in the same window but it is showing a warning in the dailog box(windows warning which comes as an exclamatory mark) saying "This type of file could harm your computer if it conatins malicious code" and on cliking open it shows a dialog saying "Could not open http://localhost:8080/context/myaction.do?fileName=3.xls" .Dont know why its trying to opne my action url rather than it should look for 3.xls in my folder
Any clue on this would be helpful

Hi,
Try saving the file and then check if extension is xls. If you are not able to do anything (open, save), try to call the same application (file), from other machine, as sometimes browser gives the problem.
If still problem occurs, then copy paste the code for setting the content type here.
Best of luck,

  • Problem while opening the excel files

    Hi
In my system , i have excel reports in my server disk . And i am opening the excel files through an action class like /viewReport.do?id=23 .....and thus from the action class i open my excel file .
After opening one excel file , i try to open another excel by clicking that link , then my system often hangs else excel shows an error saying "a report with name viewReport.do is already open " even though both of these files are different on the server
How can i avoid this ??
The reason why i am opening the excel file through an action class is , i need to perform some operations before opening that excel report
    i tried by setting the
    response.setHeader("Content-disposition","attachment; filename=myWorksheet.xls");
and i kept on changing the names but that doesnt work
Can any one let me know how to go abt this ??

    Hi Sir,
I found you posted the issue in the
APS.NET forum, and you seems use some code to open the file. Have you tried the last link in the thread?
Then, let's do some test to narrow down the issue.
I notice that you are using Office 2010, does the issue occur only with 'Reachlocal.xlsx' or every existed file?
If every Excel file has the issue, please try the following methods:
    Open the file in
    safe mode.
    Repair Office 2010.
On the other hand, this problem might be caused by malware on the affected machine. There are now two known variants of malware which causes this problem: Win32/Crilock.A and
Win32/Buma!rts. They have both been identified as a new family of
    ransomware.

If you have any further assistance about code/program, I recommend you post the question to MSDN forum:

  • Microsoft Forms and Microsoft Visual Basic while opening the Excel file

    Hello,
I have issues with 2010 64 bit Office Pro Plus Excel. Whenever I open an Excel file (97-2003 worksheet) which has macros then I get below 2 errors in sequence.
Please note that all macro settings are enabled and below are my system configs.
    Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit,
MS Office Pro Plus 2010 64 bit with SP2.
Googled all and tried but in vein and also note that I dont have any .exd files under ../forms to delete. Please help.
Please note that for others with same system config/office versions and same 97-2003 worksheet it works so issues is only in my system.
    First Error
    Microsoft Forms
Could not load an object because it is not available on this machine.
    Second Error
    Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications
Compile error in hidden module:  MainUtilities2.
This error commonly occurs when code is incompatible with the version, platform, or architecture of this application.  Click "Help" for information on how to correct this error.
    Thanks.

Your macro's will not run in a Office 64 environment only in a 32bit environment. The 64bit environment has a whole different setup and macro's created in an earlier 32 bit environment will stop working.
So if you want to use them in a 64 Office environment you have to rewrite the macro's.

  • How to stop prompt while opening an excel file in new window

    hi all

in the url of the new page that you are opening add --> &RetainAM=Y at the end.
Following points should be useful :
Suppose ,you have to open a new window from your page by clicking on a link or a button and after opening, when you click on any button in the parent page, if you are getting a session out error… try the following solutions:
    1.     Add retainAM=Y in the destination URI of the button or link
    2.     If you have the back button handling in your code, ensure that…
if (!pageContext.isBackNavigationFired(true)) is written instead of
    if (!pageContext.isBackNavigationFired(false))
    3.     Also ensure that the trasaction name is exactly same in both startTransactionUnit and end TransactionUnit
    TransactionUnitHelper.startTransactionUnit(pageContext, "sameName");
    TransactionUnitHelper.endTransactionUnit(pageContext, " sameName ");

  • Can we avoid the message  while opening downloaded excel file.

    Hi,
    I have an interesting issue.
In my scenario I am downloading characteristics value from COID.
Through background job we are getting that report in our Out look mail box. Report format is XLS.
While opening the attached XLS file we are getting one message.
    The message is as follows
The file is not in a recognizable format
    •     If you know the file is from another program which is incompatible with Microsoft excel click cancel, then open this file in its original application. If you want to open the file later in Microsoft excel. Save it in a format that is compatible, such as text format.
    •     If you suspect the file is damaged, click help for more information about solving the problem.
    •     If you still want to see what text is contained in the file, click OK. Then click finish in the text import wizard
if we ok it the file is opening properly
So My question is Can we avoid this message ?

  • Problem with opening MS Excel files through Portal

    Hi All,
I have a user that is complaining about the behaviour of MS Excel files in the Portal. The MS Excel files do not match their behaviour at the windows level. The issue has to do with how MS Excel files never seem to open in a maximized sate when you open them from the portal. The same cannot be said about MS Word files. The behaviour of MS word files is consistent between windows and portal.
    Solutions will be REWARDED.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Krishnen Subramanian.

    Hi Hussain,
I hav uploaded the excel file into my KM contentafter that when i try to open it , it does not open as maximized.
    Let me explain:
I create a new excel file on my desktop:
    I open this file:
I maximize the workbook and save:
I close Excel and then open the file right back up:
I notice that Excel and the workbook open up maximized. I close Excel again.
I now upload the file to the portal:
I then open the file from here:
It is noticed that the Excel is not maximized. We would like for it to behave as it does from the desktop. In other words, if it is saved as maximized, it should open from the portal that way. If it is saved as half way open, it should open that way from the portal.
I have found that MS Word documents behave in the portal as they do on the desktop. I create an MS Word file on my desktop:
There appears to be something portal related that prevents MS Excel files from opening maximized.
Hope you will be abl to solve the message.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Krishnen Subramanian.

  • Error while opening an excel file via labview

i don't know why i get this message, then the excel won't open at all

It appears that the New Report .vi only accepts the .xlt template format and not .xltx as one would commonly expect. I am currently working to determine for sure that this is the case, but it does run (mostly) properly on my end if you make that change.
When I say mostly, I mean there are a couple other minor issues with your code. First the first frame of your sequence structure is really accomplishing anything. If your intent is to open a reference to the excel template, there is no need because the New Report .vi does it automatically.
Second, you will need a file path of some sort wired in to your Save Report to File .vi or else you will get a different error message after fixing the .xlt issue. I am currently researching whether this should be marked as a required terminal instead of recommended so that it not being wired would result in a broken run arrow rather than an error.
Let me know if these suggestions resolve your issue, or if I can provide further input on what you are doing in your first frame. I will touch base again once I determine whether these are expected behaviors or bugs.

  • Problem while opening the PDF File in Enterprise Protal

    Dear All,
I have uploaded a PDF Document of around 30 pages in KM and made an iview to view that document but when i click on the iview the document is not opening properly and after sometime the Portal/system is getting hanged. But when i open the pdf document with less number of pages it is working fine.
I am using EP 7.0  and Adobe Reader 8.1.
Any help or suggestions will be highly appreciated.
    Regards

Doesnt seem to appear as a portal issue neither it is a reader issue. Might be some issues with the network which isnt allowing the entire file to get downloaded and hence causing the browser to hang.
    Thanks,

  • Problem while opening Excel through OLE

    Hi Friends
I am facing a problem while opening an excel file through OLE. it is working fine in SAP ECC 5.0, but the problem is in ECC 6.0.
I am adjusting the cells for auto fit. I have written the code like below.
    CALL METHOD OF e_appl 'CELLS' = e_cell.
      CALL METHOD OF e_cell 'EntireColumn' = ole_columns .
      CALL METHOD OF ole_columns 'AutoFit'.
      set property of e_appl 'VISIBLE' = 1.
if I take out the adjustment part it is working fine for this program, rest other programs even if I have this code, they working fine.
When I am executing the statement set property of e_appl 'VISIBLE' = 1. the return code is coming as 2.
Could anybody please help me to overcome this problem.
    Thanks
    Praveen

In ECC 6.0, if the worksheet is portedcted SAP unable to open that sheet, now we have taken out this option so it is working.

  • Intermittent Error 41106 Error when trying to open an Excel file.

I am having an intermittent problem while opening an Excel file.  The problem only occurs occasionally during execution of my program.  My program has a cluster of buttons each button opens a sub VI that is part of a calibration process.  The first VI generates an EXCEL filename that is used to save all calibration data.  A template is opened, data is placed in this template, and then it is saved under the generated filename.  Most of the time this seems to work fine, but every once in a while I receive a -41106 error indicating that Microsoft EXCEL did not open.  As far as I can tell when I run each sub VI independently they work fine and no errors are generated.  Does anyone know why this might be happening?  I would appreciate any help.
    Thanks

What version of LabVIEW and the Report Generation Toolkit are you using?  I remember adding some code in the 1.1 version of the toolkit to attempt to avoid some Microsoft Excel latencies with opening/closing the application repeatedly, but it was by no means fool proof, since Excel sometimes takes its sweet time leaving memory when the application exits.  Without knowing any more specifics, my best suggestion is for you to add a small delay between successive operations regarding opening/closing Excel and see if that helps.  Also, if you could post a simple VI that demonstrates the behavior, that would be extra helpful.
Oh yeah, and another suggestion would be to open one report reference at the beginning of your program, and use this reference through the whole thing...I understand that this might not be possible, though, if you're opening different worksheets throughout the course of your application running.
    Good luck,
    -D
P.S. - For those of you reading this wondering why I would automatically assume MegaMan is using the Report Generation Toolkit, he cites error -41106, which is an error specific to this toolkit.

  • RemoteMartException exception while saving generated Excel file

I am getting RemoteMartException exception while saving generated Excel report in our production system. We are using Brio query and classes in sqrib package to create an excel file.
We did NOT make any changes in the application code recently, suddenly this problem started coming, We also observed that only limited number of users are affected. For other no issues.
Is there any change in directory properties such as “owner” would result in this behavior? How to find out the location of user directories where the reports are getting stored?

Firstly, Thanks for Your quick Response, Thomas.
Even though what ever may be the file name I am passing either info.xml or Info.xls , In error info.xls is coming.
Kindly provide me an alternative on this  XML doesn't seem like it would match the 'application/vnd.ms-excel'.
    what is the supported format.?
Similarly, It is not considering the UTF-8 / UTF-16 for xml.........same result is appearing in the output.

    Hello,
Recently, I upgraded all PCs from WIN 8 to Win 8.1. After the upgrade I noticed that I can't open any word documents and excel files. Before the upgraded I have no problem opened any files. All PCs have over 500GB free space on hard drive. Other PCs that

I right click--> property and there is no unblocked. All files resided on the network server.
    Please help.

    Hi Jimmy,
Did you get any error message when you try to open an Excel file/Word document?
If so, you can post the error message and  event log here. Also ,if you had antivirus software installed, try to disable them to test this issue.
In addition, what happens if you add the network server location as a trusted location?
