Problem with Audigy 2ZS and Logitech z5500 speakers

Hi, all. I've had my Audigy 2ZS for a while, and I've been using Creative 4. speakers. I just got the logitech z5500 5. speakers, and I've been trying to get them to work properly with my soundcard, but it's giving me headaches.
The setup: I'm using the 3 direct inputs to go from the sound card to the speakers, so all the various digital issues I've read about *shouldn't* be issues for me.
The problem: When I do my a sound test using the Speaker Settings controller, my rear speakers are reversed, and one of them doesn't play at all! I've confirmed that all my speakers work, and I've used the diagnostic tools that come with the speakers to make sure that the speakers themselves are set up and working correctly.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm really frustrated...this seems like it's either a card or software issue, but I'm just not certain how to fix it.

I had the same problem with two different X-Fi extreme music cards. I fixed it by running the speaker test for individual speakers and changin the speaker settings ad nauseum. 'tis an issue with the jack sensing on the drivers.
If you unplug all the connectors and plug them back in, you'll find that some other channel gets screwed up.

Problems with Audigy Platinum and Firew

Hi,
I've been running my Soundblaster Audigy Platinum on my Win2k-System for some years and have just encountered some weird problems with the Firewire-Connector. When I connect an external DVD-Burner everything works fine. But when I connected an external harddisc for the first time recently, the system completely flipped and rebootet without any messages. When I connected the dri've via USB it wasn't recognized automatically (what it should have after the manual) but after installing the Drivers on the Disc. Afterwards also the Firewire-connect was possible, the dri've was recognized and appeared in the Explorer. So far so good.
But now, everytime I try to copy files larger than some Megabyte the dri've stops copying and I get an error message. Then the dri've disappears in the explorer. When I connect the dri've to my Laptop (XP Pro System) everything works fine. I already tried to google the problem and found some users with the same problem, unfortunately no answers to their posts. Is there someone who can help me (us)?
By the way, I already tried to re-install the drivers for the audigy...

Big Problems with Audigy 4 and Vista 64

Hi there,?I got the Audigy 4 running under Vista 64 Bit. The onboard Soundmax, connected to the speakers in my?Monitor?is acti've, too. The Audigy is connected to a 5. System from Teufel. With XP64 all ist working fine: The systemsounds come out of the monitorspeakers and the sound generated by mediaplayer etc. come from the 5. Sytem.Under Vista it is not possible to get a fine sound from the 5. System - if something is working, then only the satellites are working. The subwoofer is quiet. Also the sound from the 5. system is very bad, with a lot of breaks and so on. What?s this? How can I resolve this problem?By XP64 I have the possibility to change settings in Mediasoucecenter ... here I got nothing... rgds?McInternet?

I'm running the Audigy 4 with Vista 64-bit and it's working okay for me. It's not great - and it's pretty substantially crippled, but I'm getting sound. I would love to have proper EAX support and just some simple bass and treble controls, but it is working for me (using the March 9th drivers).

Problem with Audigy 4 and Asus m

I own an Asus A8V motherboard, and just purchased the audigy 4 non-pro. While playing the game F.E.A.R. (main reason I bought the soundcard) with acceleration to the max, I will receive a BSOD (blue screen of death) with the 0x0000007F error code. When I turn the acceleration down 2 notches ( above the lowest) I am able to play the game without getting a bluescreen, but I will hear sounds a second or 2 after an event so this is a big problem, and have screeching problems on some ma

I've heard that some Asus mobo's and the newer Creative cards have issues, any way to fix? I'm using the latest drivers for both my mobo and my sound card.

I belive that I have a unique problem with my xfi and 5.1 speakers

I wanted to have eax the other day so i bought sb xfi with front panel. I was happy. I installed the card (pci version) and my onboard sound card gone away. And i was sad . But i told myself you ve got the new and shiny sound blaster, not to worry everything ll be find. It wasnt. Since i have a 5. cambridge dtt 3500 and an optical cable as only connection i was forced to buy either a new sound card or a motherboard in order to have that socket in my pc. First as said earlier i bought the sound card. I plugged it in and, only two channels ware playing. I went and did some research about that problem and I found out that the optical socket doesnt have 5. support. SO I BOUGHT A NEW MOTHERBOARD (oh, my wallet sniff sniff ;( ) New asrock x38 turbo twins without wifi. It had just what i needed. An optical socket. I plugged all the wires to the motherboard and there was a time for a speakers test. SUCCES! Speakers sounded beautifully in 5. . And i was happy again. So the time to lunch some games came. And i installed some that have eax support. Then i was denied my beloved feature and my frustration grew. Some time passed and i gave my xfi another chance. BUT NOW it seems to have some problems because earlier it had multiple connection options in my windows's vista x64 speaker connection box. Now there are only 3. One because i changed my graphics to radeon 5850 and therefor it has nati've hdmi support (currently using that one), one for speakers from xfi and one for spdif out. I ve installed the drivers correctly and now they're updating. I ve plugged in into front panel head phone jack and microphone jack and it doesnt seem to noticed. I dont have that gamer/music/entertainment console thingy. The creative support faq was little help to me because i didnt get what they wanted me to buy and on forums i ve read that either i should buy an external decoder for God? know how much or do some modding into my speakers for multiple line sound sending and since i just want to enable eax in games and have 5. sound Im not keen on any moding or another buying spree. So please help me enable those features using my motherboard or xfi, any help ll be much appreciated.

optical is only going to give those speakers 5. on content that is encoded in dolby digital. That is pretty much limited to dvd's. You either have to use Dolby Digital Li've when converts everything to Dolby Digital or use the analog connections. If you are using a X-Fi you can buy or use a optical cable and buy the <a target="_self" rel="nofollow" href="http://buy.soundblaster.com/_creativelabsstore/cgi-bin/pd.cgi?page=product_detail&category=Software&pid=F 2222DDN6Z2H2ADDEZD">Dolby Digital Li've Pack. The analog way will cause you way less headaches. In the Playback tab of the Windows Vista sound panel there should only be 3 options there. ATI HDMI, Speakers, SPDIF. All the other connections you saw were in the Recording tab. If those are being detected it's most likely because the pins on the front bay aren't aligned correctly. If you installed the drivers from the website none of the other software is included with it and you have to download it seperately. You can still change modes with the Creative Audio Control Panel. That should be in the Creative listing in the programs menu. If you want to enable EAX you have to download and install Alchemy for games that use the Directsound3D engine. Games that use the OpenAL engine don't need it. i connected my z-680 over digital out with a coax-cable. but if i'm watchin a dvd-film, my z-680 receives no dolby digital or dts signal. the same with all games. nobody seems to know something about this ugly problem. are these components incompatible?

Have you try searching the forum for possible solution before you post? You need to disable the soundcard decoding and also your DVD software decoding feature.

Problem with Audigy SB0090 and

Hey, I found this soundcard in a box in my brothers place. I am trying to get it to work in my wife's ME system I just put together. I have no clue if its OEM or where my brother got it, nor does he. I got the ME drivers for it. Put the card in the pci slot. Turned on the computer. It sees it but no drivers. So I execute the driver download file and it says "Could not find any Sound Blaster CArd on your system. Please reinstall ... yada yada yada" What am I doing wrong here? Please help me :P

Hi, i have the Audigy 2 ZS and Logitech Z5500 speaker (with decoder), i plug the speaker wires and 3 plugs correctly with the sound card, i install the Audigy 2 ZS software and driver by default, and i have set the speaker setting to 5. on the sound card, when i test the speakers from the sound card, the "channel" buttom, i can only hear "front left" and "front right", no sound coming from center and rears and sub. i have set the speaker to 5. on the speaker control pad, and from the speaker control pad had set to "direct", not optical or coax, i think everything is setup correctly. i also tried to disable the decoder from Audigy 2 ZS, but no change, when i press "channel", only can hear "front left" and "front right". Please help me......... thanks alot.

I really need some help with drivers for my Aud 2 ZS Plant card as i am very frustrated. A couple of months ago I reformatted my HD and subsequently re-installed all my drivers. When I was ready to install my soundcard drivers\software I could not find my installization disc as I moved to a new place 6 months ago and I guess they got lost in the unpacking. Since then I have tried to find drivers for my card and in the process have?used 3rd party drivers ie. KX, PAX, and daniel_k but could not get them working or they (KX) were hard to understand. Anyway, I am to the point now that I just want to have sound with functioning software where I can get back to doing some hobbyist home recording as I did before with orginal drivers. In saying that, can anyone please point me in the direction to find the most up to date drivers for my card? Iam running WIN XP Pro sp3. I am to the point now that I want to take the card and front dri've bay out of my system, chuck it, and go and buy a $20.00 generic card.
Help would be much appreciated.

If you want the latest drivers I'd use Dan K's if I were. None of the old software works with the latest drivers so you're kinda stuffed. Dan K's are based on the 2.8.000 drivers which are the second to latest drivers available. Don't use the 2.8.00 drivers - they cause more problems than they solve.
Before installing any more drivers/software it might be an idea to make sure there's nothing left of any previous drivers you've tried to install. Could be what's causing the problems.
This is how I remove my drivers. May seam a little convoluted but in your case it may prove useful to be as thorough as possible.
You'll need Driver Sweeper, and CCleaner, 7Zip and Dan K's Audigy Support Pack 2.0 (if you don't already have them).
Download these and install; Driver Sweeper, CCleaner and 7Zip.
Now you need to extract all the files out of Dan K's support pack, which should be an *.exe file. You need what's inside that *.exe file. After installing 7Zip, you should see a new 7Zip options menu when you right click on files or folders?
Click on it and then select Extract files to Audigy Support Pack... or something similar. Don't just select Extract files.
Inside the new folder that should have appeared after 7Zip extracted everything, you'll see another folder named Drivers.
Copy this folder to your desktop.
Now reboot and start Windows in safe mode.
Click Start then Run and type cmd.exe to open a command prompt, then type (minus quotes):
" takeown /f C:\Windows\*.cdf " and hit enter, then:
" cacls C:\Windows\*.cdf /G *insert your logon name*:F " and select Y and hit enter again.
You can now close down that command prompt window.
Go in to the Drivers folder you copied to your desktop and run Setup.exe and this should appear:

Select the same options as above and click OK and let it do it's thing - when it says reboot your PC click No or Cancel.
Now run Driver Sweeper and do a scan for all Creative drivers then click Clean.
Don't worry if it says things like file doesn't exist or some other error msg. It'll still get a few things.
No load up Add or Remove Programs (personally I prefer Revo Uninstaller) and remove anything related to Creative.
Finally load CCleaner and scan/clean your registery.
Reboot back in to normal Windows.
And that's it. A tedious process I know, but it's the only way I've found of properly stripping CLs drivers out.
You'll know if it's worked because when you now go and install Dan K's pack the installer should just run straight through. When there's still driver remnants the installer always says it's found previous drivers and need to uninstall them and reboot.
tbh I recommend running through this process regardless of wether or not your choose to stick with the old drivers or go with the newer ones.
Creative's drivers are infamous i'm afraid and at least after this your PC should be relati'vely clear or remnants.

be curious to find out if there is - although we aren't really embracing the
use of
them within Forte because it locks you into the Microsoft arena.

I am just curious as to other people's experiences with the ListView
widget when elements in it are set to be draggable. In particular, I am
currently trying to design an interface that looks a lot like Windows
Explorer where a TreeView resides on the left side of the window and a
ListView resides on the right side. Upon double clicking on the
ListView, if the current node that was clicked on was a folder, then the
TreeView expands this folder and the contents are then displayed in the
ListView, otherwise, it was a file and it is brought up in Microsoft
Word. All this works great if I don't have the elements in the ListView
widget set to be draggable. If they are set to be draggable, then I am
finding that the DoubleClick event seems to get registered twice along
with the ObjectDrop event. This is not good because if I double click
and the current node is a folder, then it will expand this folder in the
TreeView, display the contents in the ListView, grab the node that is
now displayed where that node used to be displayed and run the events
for that as well. What this means, is that if this is a file, then Word
is just launched and no big deal. Unfortunately, if this happens to be
another directory, then the previous directory is dropped into this
current directory and a recursive copy gets performed, giving me one
heck of a deep directory tree for that folder.
Has anybody else seen this, or am I the only lucky one to experience.
If need be, I do have this exported in a .pex file if anybody needs to
look at it more closely.

Problems with Customer Service AND unexplained charges!

I've been with Verizon for I-don't-know-how-many years, and through the years you are bound to have a few problems here and there but some of the problems are just ridiculous! It's also the same reocurring problem!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was with Alltel first, before it was bought out by Verizon. The years I was with Alltel, I didn't have near as many problems. It seems EVERY time I do the smallest change or something to my phone or bill, I get a ridiculous amount of charges that I was NOT aware of, nor told about... EVEN IF I ask "So this isn't going to change my bill, or there will not be any unexpected/unexplained charges that I don't know about?"... BUT not matter how many times I ask... and NO matter how many times I am told "no"... there always is. For example.... last year, I updated and signed a new 2 year contract and purchased the first Driod. Before, my 30 day warranty was up, I was having problems with my Driod, and decided to send it in and get a new one. Before I did this.. I called customer service to make sure there would be no interuption in my bill, and there wouldn't be any unexpect charges, and there would be no difference in anything. I was told there was not, and once I recieved my new phone, just send it in and nothing would be changed. Of course, when I get my bill.. I see I was charged $500 for the new phone. It was explained to me that my credit card was reimbursed (which I never check that card, because I never used it expect to purchase the phone) and that I was recharged for the new phone, since it was a new phone. So I had to fork out the $500 (on top of my bill) and then wait months to get the $100 rebate card. Months after that, I "assumed liablity of my line" because I was on a plan with my family. I decided to have my own line, so I "assumed liability." I was not told that when I did that, I "renewed" my contract date. So I just added 6 more months to my 2 year contract. Was NOT told about that! Then again...... I was recently having problems with my Driod (the screen went black and would not come back on.) I had to turn on an OLD motorola razor, so I would not be without a phone for two days while I was waiting on my phone to come in. As soon as my phone came in, I had my Droid turned back on. I recieved my bill recently, and my bill was $200 over what it normally should be.... so I called in... apparently, when I had my phone replaced, they dropped off my data package and when I recieved my replacement driod, they never put it back on. So I was being charged for alllll my data usage... again I was NOT told about this. I wasn't even aware that they had dropped off my data package, and when/where did they get the authority to do that??? These are just a FEW of the problems that I have had.................................

I understand that my bill can be viewed online, and I do view it fairly regularly, so if there are any unexplained charges, I can call Verizon asap. The problem does not come from me not understanding my bill, but from customer service. I have been with Verizon for a very long time, and it is a continuing problem. Where did Verizon get the 'OK' to drop my data package off my plan? Who authorized that?
After calling Verizon and trying to find out the problem, the gentleman told me that when I activated on old phone while I was waiting on my new Droid to arrive, my data package was dropped off and I "should" have been told about that. When I reactiviated my new Droid, I "should" have called and had them restart my data package. I was not aware that when you activate an old phone that data plan is taken off your plan. In all my years of having cell phones, I never make two years with one phone. I have always, at one point, had to turn on an old phone, and my data package has NEVER changed. Why would I have my data package dropped and why would I have to call Verizon to have it restarted. I would never know to do that unless I was TOLD that my data packaged HAD to be re-added when I recieved my new phone, but I was never told of that.
All of that is beside the point, the point is, Verizon was never given the authorization to change my plan. Never. My bill was taken care of and readjusted, and I am thankful for that. It does not change the fact it is always a hassle with Verizon Customer Service and I am always the one having to PROVE that I am not at fault, or that I was NEVER told of certian things. EVERY TIME I HAVE CALLED CUSTOMER SERVICE, I AM TOLD "I'M SORRY, THEY SHOULD HAVE TOLD YOU THAT."
"they should" does not help my bill with the extra armount of charges.

Problems with dropped calls and no reception on Samsung Continuum

My mother and I both purchased a Samsung Continuum in late March 2011, and have experienced the same problems with the phone. The device drops at least 2-3 calls per day, often on the same conversation; we have not found that location or time of day makes a difference. The phone freezes up frequently, even if no apps are running in the background. We lose our 3G network reception frequently, and cannot access our texts, emails, or the internet. The screen saver kicks in even when we are actively dialing a number, or typing in a text message. The overall performance of the phone is also poor, and it is quite slow much of the time.
We have raised this issue several times with a representative at one of the Verizon stores, but he states that he can find no problem with the phone, and that these issues may not be covered under our insurance plan. None of my friends with non-Samsung phones are having the same problems with phone reception and performance. I am aggravated enough with these issues that I am considering reactivating my old Blackberry, which worked like a charm.
I am not upset that my phone has not been updated to Android 2.2. I just want the phone to perform as stated, and not fail at its primary function: making and receiving phone calls. I am not certain if these problems originate with the phone, Verizon, or Samsung, nor do I care. I just want to resolve these issues as soon as possible, or I will have to look at other alternatives.

If this doesn't work...now what??? I have a useless $400 plus piece of unreliable junk. My Motorola Razor was ions more reliable than this phone...very, very sad but true.
What carrier were you using with the Razor? AT&T? Same area?

Problems with Mail, Safari and iTunes after updating to 10.5.6

Hi all,
after installing 10.5.6 I have problems with Mail, Safari and iTunes.
The time to open mails, websides and iTunes store is increasing dramatically since the update. If I open a webside parallel with Safari and Firefox, Safari needs minimum 15 times longer to open the complete side. Mails containing HTML-code also needs a long time to be opened. Tha same Problem with iTunes store. Connecting to the Store costs at least 30 - 40 seconds. And unfortunately for every iTunes store side I open. Its terrible
Any idea or workaroung to solve that problem?

First, run Disk Utility and repair permissions and then restart.
I installed the 10.5.6 Combo update. Sometimes things get "lost in the translation" when you use Software Update depending on your installation. Perhaps you can download 10.5.6 Combo from the website and install it from your desktop.

Problems with the richTextEditor and quotes

I'm having problems with quote chars and the richText
control's htmlText. When users enter quotes into the richTextEditor
control. The quotes breaks the HTML text, meaning it's no longer
well formatted. Is there an escape char that I need to use. Or do I
need to force some kind of refresh on the control prior to using
the htmlText string?

I have been using RTE in a content management system and
found a need to replace non-standard quote characters with proper
UTF-8 character counterparts. Curly quotes in particular are
problematic. Use a replace function to substitute non-standard for
standard characters.
