Problem with iphoto, printer, and toast
Can someone direct me to a discussion on this topic. I seem to have a driver problem or something...when I go to print anything, from any program, said program crashes.
Toast titanium won't open properly, and then won't even force quit no matter what I do.
Iphoto won't add to library anymore.
My Sibelius lost all it's fonts, and I'm sure there are a few more things I haven't even noticed yet. They all happened at the same time which is why I reckon they're all the same problem.
I'm running an Imac g5, so I know it's old! Also- I cannot locate the original cds that would let me do a reinstallation. Is there somewhere I can get them?
Oh I hope someone somewhere still running pre intel reads this.

Try running a reset printing system. Open System Preferences > Print & Fax. Then hold down the Control key and click your mouse in the Printers list. A menu showing Reset printing system should appear. Click this.
Now restart your Mac and then add the Canon driver again. Hopefully this gets things working for you again.

I am using iPhoto 11 and my library has 736.5mb on disk. I have problems with iPhoto stalling and needing to force quit. I have rebuilt my library. Can you suggest anything else? Thanks, Rose
Make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.

3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto. You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
NOTE 2: In Lion and Mountain Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
If that does'nt help log into another user account on your Mac and try iPhoto from there. -
Problem with HP printer and Network
I recently purchased a MacBook Pro and HP 8600 wireless printer. I'm using an airport extreme base station.
I'm having trouble with network connectivity and wondered if the printer is the culprit--many times after printing, I lose my network connection completely.
I've tried updating base station software, computer software updates, re-booting the base station, etc., but nothing seems to permanently solve the problem.
Would appreciate any insights.
ThanksSounds like this could be an issue with the software. To start I want to be sure that we remove the software fully and correcty before we continue. Follow the instructions below and see what happens after.
First if you use a USB cord, make sure to remove it (this is important). Do not plug it back in until the software directs you to. Then go through the Devices and Printers, Programs and Features and Device Manager folders and insure that all copies, files, and programs related to the printer are removed. Then as directed, restart the computer.
In the START menu type "%temp%" and press ENTER. Here I want you to press Ctrl+A and hit DELETE. Some of the files will not allow you to delete them, skip those files and delete the majority that allows it.
find and install the FULL FEATURE SOFTWARE if it is available :

Airport Extreme - problem with usb printer and usb disk
I have Airport extreme with firmware 7.1. I try connect usb disk and usb printer with usb-hub to airport. I can't get disk or printer working. Also try connect only disk or printer without usb-hub to airport getting same problem. How I get disk and printer working with wireless network (windows pc computers)?

My printer is HP PSC 1210 all-in-one ( http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/product?product=90764&lc=fi&cc=fi&dlc=fi&lang =fi&cc=fi&y=0&x=0 )
- printer seems working fine after installing bonjour printer installing wizard.
- I get error (in windows) when I try print document from word. Error only says "error printing" in status value.
- In airport utility all seems ok. Airport see usb printer "Hewlett-Packard psc 1200 series"
- printer protocol is RAW and driver manufacture HP (also try with microsoft driver)

USB disk is Targa Databox II 250
- Airport utility says "Disk needs repair. Errors were found with a disk connected to your airport base station. please connect the usb disk to your mac or pc and use disk utility or another disk application to repair the disk"
- I have connected Targa usb disk to windows pc and run scandisk and defreg. No errors found in windows. Result..no help for airportI have a similar problem to your second issue. Tried connecting a Netdisk to the USB port of the Airport Extreme and it also said there was a problem with the disk. Have performed a low level format on the disk and Airport Extreme still complained the disk had a problem.
After unplugging the disk, my route decided to stop allowing wireless connections even after rebooting. Ended up having to hard reset the Airport Extreme and reconfigure it with my old settings to work again.
FWIW, the first Airport Extreme I purchased today only worked on 802.11a and steadfastly refused to work on b/g so had to get a replacement. I suspect Apple's quality control is not quite as good as it used to be. -
Problem with ticket printer and WPA2

I have a customer that have a couple of Datamax O'neil MP Compact4 MarkII ticket printers. It's two differents batches with different software version, one of them works perfect, but when I tried to configure the others, they just don't want to connect to the wireless. All settings are the same.
I use WPA2-PSK on the SSID, and it's also spesified on the printer that this is a PSK-SSID. I did run debug client on the controller and it gave me the output under.
I also tried to run it without any security at all, that worked fine. What I don't understand is why the controller tries to authenticate the client with 802.1x, it's not enabled at all at the controller. Does anyone see something that I don't?

change/add that wlan to wpa/tkip and see if that works. if it does, and you've got the ticket printer configured for wpa2, there's a problem with it (maybe it needs to be rebooted for wpa2/aes to take affect? just a guess) -
Problem with Dell Printer and Wireless Router
I have a new Linksys Wireless Router (3100) and it handles 3 laptops, PS3 fine. But I have a Dell 715w network printer (also new). I have it set up on the network, and it works fine upon setup. The problem is the printer does not work all the time. Sometimes I can get an error message, sometimes it says it is busy, and other times it literally takes a long time to load and then does not print. I usually can get it to work again by rebooting and turning off the router and printer and laptops, but this hit or miss is very annoying and I never know when it will do this again, usually after a week or two. I wonder if the problem is that the 3 laptops all have different OS - XP, Vista and Windows 7. Dell tech support won't help as they say they don't support routers, but I am wondering whether the problem is ina s etting or if this printer is malfunctioning. any help would be appreciated
Yes. You have to key-in the IP address to the printer.
Basically, if the printer is set to obtain IP address from the router, it will be provided with a random IP or any IP available for the next device that will connect, on this issue, your printer. So there's no permanent IP address for the printer, making it a little hard to find at times. Compare it with the a static IP, your computer can easily map it since it doesn't change. -
IPhone problem with iPhoto 08 and Web Gallery 08
I have created web photo galleries in iPhoto 08. Then I have opened iWeb08 and created a page an added a web gallery widget for each of the galleries on this page, everything works fine. Now I fire up the iPhone and go to my iWeb page where the widgets are located.
The problem is the web gallery widget appears on the iPhone screen as a blue cube with a question mark on two sides and some round grey circles on top. I can not access the galleries from iPhone. Are these cubes a representation for some program that the iPhone can't open? Any help is appreciated.I'd post your question in the iPhone forum because it seems to be an iPhone issue rather than an iPhoto one.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file. -
Problem with Canon Printer and Leopard
I have a Canon Ink-Jet (Pixma IP 4200) printer, which, until two days ago was running fine.
Since then, I've been unable to print on it - either I get the error message that the printer is out of paper, when it isn't, or that the computer cannot connect with the printer.
I've tried uninstalling the printer, and re-installing it, both with the Canon drivers, and with the Gutenprint ones, but to no avail.
Not only that, but when the printer is connected via the Canon drivers, either wirelessly, or via USB, then my MacBook fan starts to run all the time, very loudly. Once I delete the printer again, then the MacBook becomes silent within thirty seconds.
Weird, huh?
Any ideas????Try running a reset printing system. Open System Preferences > Print & Fax. Then hold down the Control key and click your mouse in the Printers list. A menu showing Reset printing system should appear. Click this.
Now restart your Mac and then add the Canon driver again. Hopefully this gets things working for you again.

Problem with iPhoto Book and pictures

When i create a photo book with iphoto, i havent got my photo in the real size. iphoto crop my photos.
Other thing : is it possible to insert a 16/9 photo ? Choose the size of the picture : like square, panoramic ... ????
Thanks for your help.You cannot change the actual sizes of the frames in the books. You can make some adjustments to the way your photo is displayed by double-clicking on it. You can resize the photo and move the photo within the frame, but that is about all you can do.

Having problems with HP6980 printer and Windows 7, please help
I just replaced my XP computer with a new HP computer running Windows 7. Each time I turn on my HP 6980 printer, it won't print. When I go to Devices and Printers, I see that it is offline. I have to delete the printer and reinstall it to make it work and this solution is only good for the session. I have to repeat the process each time that I turn on the computer. Please help.

Problems with iPhoto 6 and Canon SELPHY CP720
Just got the CP720 and tried printing from iPhoto. All the pictures come out too dark - noticeably darker than on my Apple display. This makes iPhoto editing worthless, since what you see is not what prints !!! Spent two days researching Colorsync and ICC profiles documentation, but can't figure out what the problem is. Canon states no guarantee that their printers work with 10.4.x. A query to their customer service produced no solution.
I've seen a couple references to this same iPhoto compatibility problem on other Canon printers. If you are printing iPhoto to Canon, compare your photos and see if you may be experiencing this as well.
Anyone figure this out yet?
G5 Mac OS X (10.4.8) Canon SELPHY CP720 PrinterDownload iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

Problem with Epson Printer and Time Capsule
I have a new Time Capsule, already gone through first backup etc... I tried to connect my 2 month old Epson RX 680 to the TC via USB. I have tried everything and still cannot print wirelessly. I have uninstalled, reinstalled, rebooted both TC and printer, running out of ideas. Any suggestions why I can't print wirelessly?
BTW, works fine with USB from printer directly into macbook pro.I attempted this routine with my Epson R380 and this did not help. I do have a working HO OfficeJet 6210xi working off Time Machine. I'm wondering if an expert with CUPS can help determine the problem from the logs?

Problem with iPhoto '11 and OS X firewall
I have had a problem recently where iPhoto '11 keeps asking to allow incoming connections every time I launch the app, even though I have told it "allow" and the firewall is set to automatically allow signed apps. In the past, iPhoto was automatically added by the firewall without ever having to allow it explicitly, but now there's no way to get the firewall to accept it without asking.
The only workaround I have found is that this does not happen if sharing is turned off (or the firewall is turned off), but that's not ideal. I believe, though I am not certain, that this dates from the 9.1 update for iPhoto. I have tried uninstalling iPhoto and reinstalling from the disk and by downloading the 9.1 update separately rather than by using software update, but that did not help.The problem seems to only occur after performing the 9.1 update. As the same problem occurred in itunes 10.1 and has just been fixed with 10.1.1 we can assume a iPhoto 9.1.1 patch can't be far away!

I am assuming you are connecting with a USB 2.0 printer cable, since the printer's specifications states this is the only method of connecting available.
