Problem with viewLink accessor

(ADF BC, JDeveloper 10.1.3 SU5)
Hello,
I have a master and a detail VO and a view link between them.
Both VOs are entity based, master primary key is DBSequence.
ViewLink cardinality is 1 to 0..1
Let's say ViewLink accessor name is DetailLink.
Master is inserted by ADF Faces table. Detail is inserted in code like below:
Code in AppModuleImpl.java:
... get master row from master VO custom row set iterator ...
detail = getDetail().createAndInitRow(master);
... init attributes ...
getDetail().insertRow(detail)
System.out.println("Master has detail: " + (getMaster().getDetailLink() != null));Even though the detail row has correctly set foreign key attribute, output of this code is not always "Master has detail: true". For example for newly started embedded OC4J it is "Master has detail: false".
When I try to debug this code, getDetailLink() works correctly.
What's wrong?

Strange is that getting detail entity from association accessor is successful.
master.getMasterEntity().getDetailFromAssocAccessor() != null is true, but
master.getDetailFromLinkAccessor() != null is false.
The view link source and destination attributes are association from master detail association.
Please help me find where the problem is.

Problems with viewlink

I have been having some problems with a viewlink lately. First it wouldn´t make the where clause and I got a message saying it was restoring the default where clause and an empty field for the view link where clause. After restarting Jdeveloper and trying a few times I suddenly got the create view link wizard to make the where clause for me but after the last step in the wizard I got a message saying: "Could not complete View Object Modifications because it would result in an invalid document".
However the viewlink was created. If I open a Module and click on the "Data Model" tab I can see the link in the"Available View Objects:" window but I am not able to shuttle it over to the "Data Model" window and I am not standing on the wrong viewobject in the "Data Model" window :). If anyone has had a similar problem before and solved it I would appreciate if you let me know how you solved it. I am thinking about just adding it to trough the source of the module but havent tryed it yet. I would however make me feel more at ease if I knew what is causing this so I am hoping someone could tell me.

if the problem is that you cannot execute the query in teh BC4J tester, then this is because it doesn't support testing with parameters.
Another way of doing what you want is to create two EO and then have the VO select the attributes from both. However, to do the filtering you still need to add parameters to the query.

Problem with get accessor in association

Hi,
I've run into a weird problem.
I have a project called datatest.prj, in which I have a BaseEntity, and a DerivedEntity which derives from the BaseEntity.
BaseEntity has an association with AssociatedEntity, and BaseEntity has an accessor getAssociatedEntity() and an attribute getter getAssociatedEntityID().
Polymorphism is accomplished by a discriminator field 'type'.
Now, I have a view calles DerivedEntityView which is a view on DerivedEntity.
I compile everything, which works fine, and deploy the stuff to a .jar.
Then, in another project named presentationtest.prj, I added the jar as a library, imported entities from the jar and created a TestApplicationModule.
If I try to run it, I get this errormessage:
(2 error messages skipped)

(oracle.jbo.CustomClassNotFoundException) JBO-26022: Could not find and load the custom class myapp.DerivedEntityImpl

Hmm,
it runs now. But what I had to do to make it work is, well, not a nice workaround:
- Quit jdeveloper
- Delete the classes/ dir in the projects
- Recompile and redeploy the jarfiles
- Restart jdeveloper
- Try again.
I more than once had done 'Rebuild' on both the projects and deployed them again.
So I think this is a bug. I hope I don't run into it everytime I change one of the projects.

Problems with My Nano when using Accessories

I bought my nano in November and haven't had any problem with it...until now. For x-mas I got an ITrip and a music station. My Nano doesn't like them. It worked once, and then stopped working. I took my nano to an Apple Store where they reset everything. It worked...for a day and now my nano won't play music through the ITrip or music station! Any ideas because I don't want to reset it and then re-load everything when I want to use my accessories. Thanks!

Resetting will not delete songs/photos from your nano. Sometimes there's a glitch in the nano, where you would have to reset:

The next time when you plug your nano to your iTrip and music station, you might want to try turning your nano on first. See if that helps.

Problem with Zen Micro Accessor

Has anyone else had problems with the Zen Micros headphones or belt clip? A week or 2 ago my belt clip broke on the part that holds the spring. Yesterday (-24-05) the right headphone cover came off with the cords exposed. and the Part of the belt clip that held the spring in broke. A friend of mine who also has a Zen Micro the belt clip broke for him too. Has this happened to anyone else? If so how did you get it fixed?

What most people do is clip their belt clip on with the micro hanging outside. Me on the other hand i put the micro in my pocket of my shorts
or pants and keep the micro inside of the pocket with the belt clip hooked onto the lining of my pocket. That way my micro is safer and the belt
clip is very hard to break off

Anyone experiencing problems with USB2.0 accessories failing to be compatible with mini's USB3 connections.

I am being informed by the manufacturer's Customer Support Technician in reference to where their USB2.0 device is being referred to as a possible cause of incompatability with my mini's USB3 connection, and I quote: "They are supposed to be "backwards compatible" but some users devices are working fine with those ports for periods of time (months, weeks, days) and then just mysteriously not working one day, so be cautious of trusting Apple's marketing." and he further suggests using a USB2 hub to be compatible. Because of this incompatability this device ( $200 plus tax,) is being rendered inoperable for the the main facility for which I purchased it.
I'd be pleased to hear reactions from others on the validity of this claim and whether it is or should be incumbent on manufacturers of devices that are produced solely for use with Apple products that they should at least be compatible ( USB3 ) with those products and especially if it is known that the use of USB2 can create problems. Thank you.

I had no sooner posted, and I had second thoughts about third party "routers". I happen to be using the Bell Fibe TV system and their receivers, I have three, operate similar to routers in that they operate in conjunction with each other. If you set up a recording on one that recording will also appear on the other two. And it so happens that the device I am experiencing problems with happens to be attached to one of those receivers and it happens to prevent that receiver from making a recording that is separate from the recordings made by the PVR in that receiver.

Problems with Associations between entities (jdev903production)

Hi,
every now and then, I feel a strong urge to pick up my pc and throw it out the window, when I'm working in jdeveloper.
But usually just in time I realise the power that bc4j still has, and the fact that people walking under my window might not be too pleased with my pc landing on their head convinces me to just count to 10, and just retry what I was trying to do.
I will explain the problems below:
1. Wrongly numbered and magically renumbered members
I have an entity with about 13 attributes. The underlying schema object is a view (simple view
on a table, nothing fancy).
I have a few associations between this entity and several other entities, one of which is an association with itself (parent/child relation). Some of these associations have accessors, and the parent/child association has accessors both ways (getParent() and getChildren()).
When I compile, I get an error like this:
Error(399,12): duplicate case label.
This problem occurs because near the top of the file, the attributes have been defined as follows:
protected static final int ASSET = 0;
protected static final int PARENT = 1;
protected static final int PRICELINES = 2;
protected static final int CHILDREN = 3;
protected static final int ID = 0;
protected static final int CODE = 1;
protected static final int ENDDATE = 2;
protected static final int STARTDATE = 3;
protected static final int TYPE = 4;
The first 4 are from the association accessors, the rest (starting with ID) are attributes. Why do these get the same numbers?
I edited the first 4 lines and gave them increasing numbers that didn't conflict with any of the attributes. But each time I edit one of the associations, all of these lines get renumbered again and start counting at 0! (even if I move the lines down so they are in the correct order).
So even if I just edit the parent/child association, even the PRICELINES (which is an accessor NOT from the association I'm editing) thing gets renumbered wrongly.
Why?!
2. Internal XML parser error
Every now and then, after playing around with associations and viewlinks, I suddenly get an error message like this:
"Expected Name instead of '<'."
from the XML parser, when I try to open a ViewObject from the navigator. The XML files look fine, but even a restart of jdeveloper doesn't help. In this case I usually delete my files, get the last known working versions from CVS and redo what I did before it went wrong. Because of the randomness (though quite frequent) of this problem, I can't provide you with good 'steps to reproduce' yet, but do you have any clue as to what might cause this? It's quite a nuisance.

We just found and fixed a problem for 9.0.4 yesterday where in some cases
the constants for the accessors got inadvertently renumbered.
I hope it's the same issue you're hitting, but I cannot
be 100% sure unless you could send me a testcase project
for me to try and reproduce with 9.0.3 and with the
fixed 9.0.4 release.

An error like "Expected Name instead of '<'." can mean some kind of corruption in the XML file. When you say they "look" fine, are you able to verify by trying to parse them externally to make sure it's not some subtle error your eye is not seeing?
If you can give me a testcase project and tell me what steps to try and repeat, I can have our QA team try and exercise your steps to hopefully reproduce the problem.
[*]View Accessors are not being created
You mentioned a source control system in the mix. Is there any possibility that the YourViewImpl.java file is read-only on the file system? This would cause BC4J to not be able to write the accessor into the file.
[*]Magically disappearing ViewLink source/destination attributes
Obviously, this is not intentional. I'll ask the developer to see if
there's anything obvious that could be the cause of this
"short-circuit" of correct functionality.

The above statement confused me. We do support View objects extending
other view objects, however I was able to reproduce the problem
and I filed Bug#2678090 to get it fixed.

ViewLink accessor attribute NULL when VO has bind vars

Hi! I noticed that a ViewLink accessor attribute returns a NullPointer when the ViewObject SQL has a bind variable. i have a data model with Dept and Employee ViewObjects that is connected via viewlink.
I inserted a bind parameter :pDept and added on the whereclause "DeptNo = :pDept" to filter the employee returned based on Department. I then created a new Dept Row and a new employee on the same transaction (no commiting yet). When I got a reference to the viewLink accessor on the EmployeeViewRowImpl, i got a null reference when i tried to reference the viewLInk accessor for the department view:

}I notice that when I removed the bind variables and the where clause, I get the correct ViewLink accessor.

Problem with JBL On Time system

I purchased a JBL On Time player - very cool looking - but there is a major flaw. When the alarm goes off, it automatically plays the first song in the library every time, even though it is supposed to play the song the iPod was playing last.
JBL's answer? Following is the ridiculous answer from JBL tech support:
"Good morning and thank you for your inquiry. The issue is a software bug
with the iPods. The JBL On Time will default to the first song in the
library if you have the following iPods with the following software:
iPod Nano - software 1.1 - current
iPod Video - software 1.1 - current
The current fix is to downgrade the software to 1.0 (iPod Updater
2005-11-17). This download enables you to select any song to wake up to.
Please note, downgrading the software will not work with the new iPod
80gb Video or the 2nd generation iPod Nano."
Can you believe it?!? Yeah right, like I'm going back to the stone age with my iPod software.
To me, JBL needs to work with Apple to resolve this problem with future releases of the software, not make "valuable" customers back date...
If you too are an owner of the On Time product, I hope this helps. Please send their support an email letting them know how unsatisfied you are with their product support. Perhaps if they hear from enough of us, they will change there archaic ways...
If you are thinking about buying one, perhaps you should wait for JBL to become more responsible for their own customers' satisfaction...

iPod touches do not operate correctly with a number of earlier iPod accessories. You can look for an adapter to get it to work but other than that, there are not many solutions.

Problem with DAQMX on a 6025E
I work on a DAQ 6025E and I can't use the example "Write Dig Port.vi" and all others example on digital output with DAQMX. There isn't any hardware failure because the same installation functions correctly with the traditional DAQ. I want to use these channel parameters: Dev1/port2.
I already tested to make a reset device and use "line or port configuring vi" but without successes.

I took a look at the example you attached and it looks fine. Here are a few things to try out BEFORE running the example from MAX:
1) Remove any SCXI, SCC, and accessories from the configuration in MAX so that no DIO lines are reserved for communication.
2) Reset the driver to work in DAQmx mode for your board. To do this, first right-click the "Traditional DAQ Devices" and say "Reset Driver" and then right-click your 6025E under DAQmx Devices and say "Reset Driver" again. This should enable the driver for DAQmx.
3) In MAX, under DAQmx Devices, run the test panel and make sure you can read/write all the DIO lines there first. If that works fine you should be able to run the example.
Remember that the port names for the 6025E are Port 0, Port 2, Port
3, and Port 4 (no Port 1).

Problem with Master -Details forms in seperate pages

Below is the scenario:
I have Institution and a department tables where there is a foreign key relation between the tables. So now i have two entity objects for the 2 tables and 2 view objects(DepartmentView,InstitutionView) from the entity objects.
I also have a view link between them.I made a master-detail relation between them in the datamodel using the view link.So my appmodule now has getters for the department view,institution view and viewlink.
I now have a jsp page "createInstitution.jsp" which contains a form for the institution , i have a "next" button on the same jsp which calls a method in my appmodule class .This methods just inserts the record into the Institution view. In this method i am able to see what the user entered in the form by getting the viewrow record like the below code :

The next button navigates to the next page "listDepartments.jsp" which contains the list of departments that are added. This page has a button "Add Department" which takes to to the "addDepartment.jsp" page which shows a form for adding a department. This page also has a button which calls a method in app module class. The method just inserts the record into the view(DepartmentView)
Here when i say
DepartmentViewRowImpl newDepartmentRow=(DepartmentViewRowImpl ) getDepartmentView().first();
the newDepartmentRow is null.
Also on the addDepartment.jsp form , i had used a output field to see what the parent id was and interestingly the parent id is 75 which is first institution in the database. It should have been "-10" , a temporary id assigned.
Can someone please tell me what is the problem with my approach?

I don't understand why you are using a method on your button to insert the record into the table - An Oracle ADF Form will do the insert for you by default without any coding.

The method that you are calling just returns the first record in the rowset - I don't see how it has anything to do with actually inserting the data into the table.

Safari problems with certain web pages dowloading a page instead of display

on some sites when i click a link to go to or open a page, it downloads the link. this happens with ebay for example where when i click on a link, it downloads ebay.dll instead (i know, weird). and now, ebay.com isnt even opening - i just get a blank page. it happens with .asp pages and .js pages too. everything seems to work fine in firefox. i was also having problems with gmail which would not allow me to click on links and if i typed, it would jump to another field on the screen if i typed a non-alpha character (i know, weird). that seems to be fixed now and i can use gmail.
not sure what the problem is. any ideas?

You would have to remove (uninstall) or reinstall the Georgia font if it is currently corrupted.
You can use the System File Checker to check for missing and corrupted font files.
It needs to be run from an Elevated Command Prompt.
Open a cmd.exe window as Administrator:
Start, click Programs, click Accessories
Right-click Command Prompt, and choose "Run as administrator"
Click past the UAC Screen
After the cmd.exe prompt, type: sfc.exe /scannow and press Enter
