Process Chain Attachment using Spool

Hi there,
I have a requirement to attach the spool created by an ABAP program to the message in that process chain step. I'm in BI 7.0, sps 17, EHP1.
I have created a custom process type with the folowing options:
Documentation Type: Message
Document object: rspc_abab.
The ABAP program I'm using creates a status report that I'd like to attach to the outgoing message. I can reference the spool number and I've tried changing the execution user to my ID. I can see the spool that is created and have tried to create an attachment with that spool reference, but no attachment is being generated.
Can anyone suggest an answer?

Hi mates,
Okay, I learnt that the existing ODS Requests must be deleted prior to me re-executing the InfoPackage.
My question would be, lets assume that the User suddenly needs on an urgent basis to get the latest data.
So, then how would the User go about doing this ?
   A) Does he have to Change the Start Variant of the Process Chain
   B) Does he have to Delete the Existing ODS Request each time and then only hit on InfoPackage -> Start ?
Is there any other easier method for end-user to run the scheduler on an ad-hoc basis ?
Certainly running RSPC_CHAIN_START or RSPC_CHAIN_EXECUTE_REMOTE FM will help, but this case the End-User would need to know the exact Input Parameters ?
Would there be any best practise method or some simpler method to assist the user in such circumstances ?
Your feedback is very much appreciated

  • How to identify the meta chain in which the Process Chain is used

    Hi,
I had a Process Chain which is designed to Load Transaction Data.
This process chain is scheduled to start as a part of Meta Chain...
How can i locate that META chain in which this Process Chain is used
    Thanks

    Hi
There is no where used list for Process chain, but you can check it in table RSPCCHAIN.
    Give details as below:
    Version is 'A'.
    Process Type is 'CHAIN'.
Process Variants = 'enter technical name of the local chain'.
    now hit execute button.
You can see the list of process chains under Chain  ID column.

  • Process Chain that uses a DTP and locks up with CX_RSBK_REQUEST_LOCKED

    Hello Experts,
I am making a program to start a PC inside a loop. This Loop has several dates and ODS ID's. The problem is that inside the loop I make a call to FM RSPC_API_CHAIN_START, after this I have a WAIT UNTIL 30 SECONDS command so that the process has enough time to finish loading data. Each time the loop starts I change the name of the .txt flat file that te PC is going to load and store it inside a Z table with a rutine inside the DTP calling it every loop cycle. And so every time the Process Chain starts it should load a different file into a specifyc ODS. The problem comes at the second loop in which through the RSA1 transaction I find out that the chain is locked with an exception CX_RSBK_REQUEST_LOCKED and the subsequent calls to the Process Chain simply don't start at all. One solution I found was to delete the last Petition Request ID in the table RSSTATMANPART.
I use RSSM_DELETE_REQUEST to delete that request using that ID and the cube name.
    Now this doesn't work either.
    PROGRAM SUMMARY:
LOOP WITH ODS THAT NEED LOADING INTO BW ODS
DELETE PETITION REQUESTS FROM RSSTATMANPART WITH YELLOW OR RED STATUS.(So that PC can start)
CHANGE FILE THAT DTP ROUTINE WILL LOAD
        START PROCESS CHAIN
WAIT A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF TIME FOR PC TO FINISH
    ENDLOOP.

    Hi saveen,
I've checked the transaction sm50 to check the available processes and I have 8 BTC(batch), 5 DIA(dialog), 2 UPD(update), 1 ENQ(enqueue) and 1 SPO(spool). Are these the ones you are asking about? I assume you refer to BTC which I believe 8 is enough....correct me if Im wrong here as Im starting out with this please.
Thing is that Im trying to automate this whole process (for loading various file types(headers.txt, details.txt, payments.txt, etc), for various centers and several months...this is why I want to automate the whole process, so I dont have to go manually through all this data loading. So what I did was try to start the chain inside a loop for every new combination of dates that DIDN'T EXIST in the ODS tables. The process chain is supposed to call a DTP that uses a routine to see which file is going to upload to BW but only does it the first time.
The problem comes with the second cicle of the loop in which the petition request for the DTP is already green, nevertheless the next start of the chain doesn't come as there seems to be no creation of another request and the exception CX_RSBK_REQUEST_LOCKED in the transaction RSPC.
Appart from this whenever I try to delete the last request so that this way it does create another request(rnr) in RSSTATMANPART through the use of RSPC_API_CHAIN_START the data in my ODS does not stay and is deleted.

  • Process chain execution using program

    hi,
i want to run process chain 10 times using a program.
can any one tell me how to write a program in pc in order to run the chain 10 times.
any example of running the process chin using program .any nice code will be really useful
    please suggest me.
    i will assign points

    Hi Venkat,
Go to SE37 input CHAIN  F4 then you will get various function module that can be used for process chain.
IN you program call the function module RSPC_CHAIN_EXECUTE_REMOTE pass the required parameters and exceute.
Test throughly in DEV system before moving to PRD. I have not used this earlier.
    Hope this helps.

  • Which process chain type used when scheduling from 3rd party

Do we use Local Process Chain or Meta Chain type used when triggering  PC from 3rd Party scheduling tools like Redwood..
    Any inputs...
    Venkat.

    Hi Venkat,
Select "Start Using Meta Chain or API" for the start process when running a process chain from a third party scheduling software or when calling a process chain from within another process chain.
I also believe some third party scheduling software will also work if you set the start process to  "Direct Scheduling" and set the start time to immediate but I would recommend just making it a Meta Chain for tracking purposes.

  • Launch Process Chain in dialog mode using WAD

    Hi,
I check that I can associate the process chain launch using a button in WAD. Does someone know if there is a way to launch this in dialog and NOT in batch mode? My main issue is that I'd like to know who launch this process chain, and in batch mode the user is BIWREMOTE.
I tried to change the flag "wait till the end" available with the EXECUTE_PROCESS_CHAIN action, but I see no changes.
    Thanks a lot!

    Hi,
A way around this would be to change the execution user of the Process Chain to be the user who clicks the WAD Button. This can be achieved in RSPC by selecting the process chain, then Process Chain -> Attributes -> Execution User.
This gives you the option of either the default BW Background user (BIWREMOTE), Current User or Special User. If you select Current User it will show the user you are after. However, you will need to ensure that whoever is clicking the button has the relevant authorisations to execute process chains in BW otherwise the job will fail.

  • Process Chains - How to remove prcesses using a report or FM

    Hi Friends,
Is there a way to remove porcesses from a Process Chain without using TC RSPC?
I've to remodel huge Process Chains and would like to avoid using TC mentioned.
I'm knowing IDs of Process Chains and processes to be removed and searching
for a program doing removing automatically. Any suggestions?
    Thanks in Advance & Regards
    Joe

    Thanks Vishal and M.,
Of course you're right, and exactly this was the reason why I didn't want to delete records from table RSPCCHAIN
manually or by a customer report. MY idea was to use a standard program from SAP, 8Mtehod, FM,...).
I've to confess i was to lazy to debug RSPC to find the place were deletion of processe is coded.
I think using this would be a proper solution for my issue.
It really sucks to to this in GUI witin huge PCs. Just to poszion cursor on the right place....

    Steps for Metachain :
    1. Start ( In this variant set ur schedule times for this metachain )
2.Local Process Chain 1 ( Say its a master data process chain - Get into the start variant of this chain ( Sub chain - like any other chain ) and check the second radio button " Start using metachain or API " )

In Rspc , select the PC you want to copy from , on the menu bar , select Process chain , and their select Copy. And more over , which BI version are you working on?? You have this option in 7.0 only I think, if you are on BI 3.5 , I dont think you can copy, the only option is you have to create a brand new one.
    let me know.

  • Monitoring BI PROCESS CHAIN with Solution Manager BPMON

    Hello,
I'm trying to setup the monitoring of BI process chain using the BPMON
I setup the process chain monitoring using  BPmon application monitoring "BI Process Chain Monitoring" (BOBIPCMO)
but than I'm not able to read the process chain names, steps, and variant from satellite system
On other systems, using different application monitor (like PI MONITOR) is working fine
i'm using the latest plug-in ST-A/PI 01L_BCO700 on entire landscape
    My bi system is 7.01 EHP1 sp4
    solution Manager is 7.01 EHP1 SP20
    Any suggestiions?
    Thanks
    Marco

    Hello Marco,
the problem is that the Process Chain monitor is not yet available with ST-A/PI 01L*. Unfortunately the empty hull that you see during the setup was shipped without the proper content. The Process Chain monitor will be properly shipped with the next ST-PI and ST-A/PI combination in Q2/2010.
    Sorry for any inconvenience caused.
If you want to have this monitor earlier on it could be implemented via Customer Exit in case that you have some MaxAttention or Safeguarding engagement.

  • ABAP Program in process chain

    Hi All,
We have ABAP Porgram(PROCESS TYPE)  in our porcess chain.
It was failed today with following message in Job log
" Table Locked.Data currently being processed by user ALEREMOTE " .But when i check in SM12 there was no locks I found there. and i have checked in sm21 also there also i didn't find anylogs at that time and date.
So i tried by repeating the load of "ABAP Process "  the program went successful now.
But client is asking which PROCESS CHAIN caused locks for this program.
Is there any way to find out any other process chain is using the same " PROCESS TYPE (ABAP Program)"  in their process chain?.
so that i can identify that process chain and inform to the client.

    First :
The lock need not be due to another ABAP program...
What you are seeing here is a table lock due to a conflicting process... for instance - lets say your program is reading 0MATERIAL and updating specific values in the P Table of 0MATERIAL. At the same time - if there is a data load happening to thi table - then your program or the data load whichever runs later - will face the locking issue.
What you need to do is :
    1. Find out which tables are being UPDATED by the ABAp program - find out when these tables are being updated by other process chains - and then change the schedule for the same.

  • Emails for process chains

    Hi Friends,
I need your valuable suggestions for a problem we are currently facing regarding emails in process chains.
An explanation of the issue is as follows:
The users who load data (present at different geographical locations Ex. A, B, C) use a custom ABAP program to load and this program only triggers the process chain. The final status of the load is to be communicated back to the users.
If the email feature of process chain is used and the users list from locations A, B and C is maintained, then users from B and C get emails regarding loads abt C and so on. In other words users from A, B and C have irrelevant emails in their mailbox.
Also the users have no technical knowledge of BW and hence cannot interpret the Process chain log. So there is another technical team which will receive the detailed email messages.
All the users need to know is whether the load was successful or not.
---Accessing the Monitor using RSMON is not an option
---Maintaining email groups is not an option.
Has anyone faced a similar problem before? If so, how did you resolve it?

You have now 1 chain that is triggered by A, B and C and they all get e-mail when the chain is finished?
Create 3 meta-chains C1, C2 and C3. Users A, B and C trigger their respective chain. The actual chain that is doing the work is C4. C4 is a subchain of C1, C2 and C3 so you need to model it only once. At the end of C1, C2 and C3 you can send email to your users.
    C1
    - C1 trigger
    - C4
    - C1 finish & email A
    C2
    - C2 trigger
    - C4
    - C2 finish & email B
    C3
    - C3 trigger
    - C4
    - C3 finish & email C
You could optionally connect the technical e-mail to the last process in C4. and the user e-mail to C1, C2 and C3.

  • Process chain to trigger automatically after file arrives in AL11.

    Hi All,
There is a text file(.txt) which comes from mainframes team every Sunday between 11 AM to 6 PM and gets placed in AL11 inbound directory following which we manually trigger a process chain which uses this file.
The requirement is that this chain should trigger automatically after the file arrives in AL11 in BW.
Is it necessary for the mainframe team to send another control file or some other file in addition to the text file to trigger this process chain..?
Is there any other way the process chain can be triggered in BW without any changes required from the mainframe team.
    Additional information:
Also I came to know that this can happen through some system command statements using SM49 we can schedule this chain.
Else can some ABAP Program code be used to make this process automatic?
    Please help me.

    Hi,
You can do the following, in your process chain change the start variant and make it event dependent. Now you can do the following,
    1) Create a table in SE11 which will have fields like Process chain name and execution date as primary fields. This table will be used further for checking purpose.
    2) Now create a ABAP program as shown in below given article, in this program in addition to raising an event you will have to read the file from app server.
    3) If program can read file from app server means you will raise an event and make entry in above table for preventing further execution of process chain. If program can't read file from app server then program will simply end without doing anything.
    4) Now you can schedule this program after every hour or 30 min. as per your requirement, the program will first check if the process chain execution entry exists in the above 'Z' table or not. If entry exists means the process chain has been already executed and the program will be terminated.
    5) You can use FM to read data from app server. You need to be careful while placing file on app server, because it has to be different naming convention or something else to identify that the current day file is available.

  • Info Spoke - Process Chain - OS Command usage help

I am new to BW. My requirement is to extract the master data off of BW data targets on a weekly basis and ftp the files onto a different server.
To meet this requirement, I am planning to create InfoSpoke(s), put it in a Process chain and using the OS Command ftp the files to different server.
Is this the right way to do it or are there any better ways? If it is, I need help on where to give the target server name, user_id and PSW in the OS Command variant of Process Chain.
Also, is it possible to schedule a Infospoke directly from the scheduler (Auotsys...) and still execute weekly/monthly?
Thanks for your help in advance
    RK

That's correct.  You'll define the command under the general services tab in the process chain transaction (It's labeled OS Command and is a silver circle thing with a blue dot in it).
When you drag it into the process chain it will ask for a varient.  In the System Command field for this varient is where you'll define the actual command. (little pencil button next to it).  At this point you can call a script that does the copy or call an actual command that does the copy.
Might be easier to control with a script that does the work but if you want to call rcp/scp, the os command will be rcp and parameters will be the filename, etc.  If it's a script then you'll just enter the name of the script in the os command field.
    Hope this helps.

  • Authorizations setting for running the process chain

    Hai
Iam planning to run the process chain for loading the data into ODS. But i dont have authorization for it.
so what are the authorizations i need to run the process chain in my system. And how can i set all those authorizations to my user-id.  I have all authorization rights .
    Pls let me knw
    kumar

    Hi,
    Authorizations for Process Chains
    Use
You use authorization checks in process chain maintenance to lock the process chain, and the processes of the chain, against actions by unauthorized users.
    ·        You control whether a user is allowed to perform specific activities.
    ·        You control whether a user is allowed to schedule the processes in a chain.
The authorization check for the processes in a chain runs when the system performs the check. This takes place upon scheduling or during synchronous execution. The check is performed in display mode. The check is performed for each user that schedules the chain; it is not performed for the user who executes the chain. The user who executes the chain is usually the BI background user. The BI background user automatically has the required authorizations for executing all BI process types. In attribute maintenance for the process chain, you can determine the user who is to execute the process chain.
See also: Display/Maintenance of Process Chain Attributes ®  Execution User.
    Features
For the administration processes that are bundled in a process chain, you require authorization for authorization object S_RS_ADMWB.
To work with process chains, you require authorization for authorization object S_RS_PC. You use this authorization object to determine whether process chains can be displayed, changed or executed, and whether logs can be deleted. You can use the name of the process chain as the basis for the restriction, or restrict authorizations to chains using the application components to which they are assigned.
    Display/Maintain Process Chain Attributes
    Use
You can display technical attributes, display or create documentation for a process chain, and determine the response of process chains during execution.
    Features
You can display or maintain the following attributes for a process chain:
    Process Chain ® Attribute ® ...
    Information
    Description
    ( Rename)
You can change the name of the process chain.
    Display Components
Display components are the evaluation criterion in the process chain maintenance. Assigning the process chains to display components makes it easier to access the chain you want.
To create a new display component, choose Assign Display Components in the input help window and assign a technical name and description for the display component in the Display Grouping dialog box that appears.
    Documents
You can create and display documents for a process chain.
    For more information, see Documents.
    Last Changed By
Displays the technical attributes of the process chain:
    ·        When it was last changed and who by
    ·        When it was last activated and who by
    ·        Object directory entry
    Evaluation of Process Status
If you set this indicator, all the incorrect processes in this chain and in the overall status of the run are evaluated as successful; if you have scheduled a successor process upon error or always.
The indicator is relevant when using metachains: Errors in the processes of the subchains can be evaluated as “unimportant” for the metachain run. The subchain is evaluated as successful, despite errors in such processes of the subchain. If, in the metachain, the successor of the subchain is scheduled upon success, the metachain run continues despite errors in “unimportant” processes of the subchain.
Mailing and alerting are not affected by this indicator and are still triggered for incorrect processes if they have an upon error successor.
    Polling Indicator
With this indicator you can control the response of the main process for distributed processes. Distributed processes, such as the load process, are characterized as having different work processes involved in specific tasks.
With the polling indicator you determine whether the main process needs to be kept until the actual process has ended.
    By selecting the indicator:
    -         A high level of process security is guaranteed, and
    -         External scheduling tools can be provided with the status of the distributed processes.
However, the system uses more resources; and a background process is required.
    Monitoring
With the indicator in the dialog box Remove Chain from Automatic Monitoring?, you can specify that a process chain be removed from the automatic monitoring using CCMS.
By default CCMS switches on the automatic process chain monitoring.
For more information about the CCMS context Process Chains, see the section BW Monitor in CCMS.
    Alerting
You can send alerts using alert management when errors occur in a process chain.
For more information, see Send Alerts for Process Chains.
    Background Server
You can specify here on which server or server group all of the jobs of a chain are scheduled. If you do not make an entry, the background management distributes the jobs between the available servers.
    Processing Client
If you use process chains in a client-dependent application, you can determine here in which client the chain is to be used. You can only display, edit, schedule or execute the chain in this client.
If you do not maintain this attribute, you can display, edit, schedule or execute the process chain in all clients.
Process variants of type General Services that are contained in a process chain with this attribute set will only be displayed in the specified client.
This attribute is transported. You can change it by specifying an import client during import. You must create a destination to the client set here in the target system for the import post processing (transaction RSTPRFC)  The chain is activated after import and scheduled, if necessary, in this client.
    Execution User
In the standard setting a BI background user executes the process chain (BWREMOTE).
You can change the default setting so that you can see the user that executes the process chain and therefore the processes, in the Job Overview. You can select the current dialog user who schedules the process chain job, or specify a different user.
    The setting is transported.
The BI background user has all the necessary authorizations to execute all BI process types. Other users must assign themselves these authorizations so that authorization errors do not occur during processing.
    Job Priority
You use this attribute to set the job priority for all of the jobs in a process chain.
