Process take a while to go from Queued to Initiated

Just wondering if anyone had any suggestions about how to speed up processes going from queued to initiated. E.g. you kick off a process, and it takes 15 or more more seconds to change status from queued to initiated and then start processing.
Things I've tried include increasing max concurrent processes for that process type (e.g. App Engine) and also increasing the priority to high but this occurs even when there is just one process running on the process scheduler (so there is no contention with other processes).

You may want to reduce the "Sleep time" of the process scheduler if you did not try it yet.

  • MDB messages dont get processed from Queues when involving a remote Topic in transaction

Using WLS 6.1 SP4 on winXP Pro boxes, I have come across a peculiar problem:
I have several MDBs that process ObjectMessages from queues and forward their payload (wrapped in another new ObjectMessage) to other queues, all of which are located within the same WLS server.
Right now I'm adding a new MDB that gets messages from a remote Topic with a durable subscription, and forwards the payload to local queues after some processing.
When the Topic is local as well, there is no problem. But when the Topic is set up in a remote machine, only the MDB that has the remote durable subscription works the way it should. It receives the remote message and forwards it to the corresponding local queue. But then the messages in those local queues dont get processed. The 'Messages Received' count rises and the 'Messages' count stays at 0, as if the messages had been correctly processed and acknowledged, but no onMessage() method is called besides the one from the MDB that has the durable subscription to the remote Topic (I can tell because there's no further processing from the queue those messages get put in). It's as if those messages were simply received and acknowledged without being passed to other MDBs by WLS.
              * All queue MDBs use Required container-managed transaction management and auto-acknowledge
              * All queue MDBs have default durability for their queue subscriptions
              * The topic MDB has a durable subscription stored in a filestore
              * Lookup of the remote Topic is done via JNDI
Since the processing and forwarding of messages occurs the way it should when everything is local, I am inclined to believe one of two things:
              a) There's some issue with the way WLS treats messages (or even just payloads) when they come from a remote server
              b) WLS is doing something I'm not aware of when propagating a transaction that begins with the delivery of a message from a remote JMS Topic when it involves further forwarding of messages in local JMS Queues.
              Any help will be appreciated.

Is the durable subscriber forwarder rolling back its transactions?
That would cause the behavior you describe (eg the message gets
placed in the queue, but is never made visible). What do
the pending counts on the destination queue look like?

How can I take my iPhone & iPad backups from my iMac at home with me while travelling using my Macbookair (128Gb SSD) with an ext. HD? I want to continue to back up my devices including those of my wife while travelling without using the cloud and not returing home for several weeks.
    Any ideas or solutions?
    Thanks for your help.

You can use any Mac with a recent copy of iTunes to back up an iPhone or iPad. It doesn't have to be the one you usually synch with, so long as you don't let it try to do a synch.
Just take fresh backups on the MBA. As for how to get the backups onto the external drive, I'll have to leave that to others; I've never tried.

  • Error appearing while transferring products from CRM to R/3.

    Hi All,
I am facing a problem in CRM system while transferring products from CRM to R/3. System is throwing a message "Exception condition NO_STRUCT_DEFINITION raised" and product transfer is not happening.
    Please suggest some solution.
    Thanks & regards,

    Hi Arup,
Thanks for your assistance once again.
I have checked the 'CRMRFCPAR' table entries in R/3 system. One entry with 'Send XML=M' is present in that table.
No error Bdoc exists in system, the existing Bdocs are showing as successfully processed in the transaction 'SMW01', The queue name corresponding to the Bdoc is 'CRM_PRODUCT_IP'.
I have also checked the transaction 'GENSTATUS' .There is no object with status red, instead of that two objects are existing with green status.
Can you please tell me how to verify, whether parent object ('DNL_CUST_PROD0') has been successfully loaded or not?????
Eagerly waiting for your valuable suggetions.

  • WL6.1 - browsing and receiving from queues with MDBs

    Hi all,
I have hit on a problem that has been brought up previously without,
as far as I can tell, any conclusive response.
I am using a queue which is processed by message driven beans. This
queue contains jobs which may take a long time to execute and hence it
is important to allow users to manage the queue. Ideally this
management should work in the same way as, say, a printer queue where
it is possible to view queued jobs and cancel them if necessary.
It has been said that MDBs in WLS6.1 use an internal pipeline which
[quote from previous thread " QueueBrowser not working in WL6"]
"uses an optimistic algorithm and pushes the message at the bean
              before it is ready"
and, sure enough, pointing a queue browser, activated from a JSP, at
the queue always returns a queue length of zero, whatever the number
of pooled MDBs and whatever the actual number of messages queued. I
have worked around this by creating a second 'monitoring' queue not
listened to by any MDBs and which I then have to manually synchronise
with the 'real' jobs queue. However, removing jobs does not work
either (I am storing the job message ID and trying to access the jobs
queue using this as a selector) since the queue is empty when looked
at from any client which is not the listening MDB. In contrast with
the browsing, there seems to be no obvious way around this as I need
to access the jobs queue itself before I can remove any jobs.
My intended 'queue management' functionality does not seem
particularly esoteric to me and hence I am puzzled that this appears
difficult to implement. I have therefore been wondering whether I have
been missing any obvious point and I would be grateful to hear of
anybody else's experiences trying to achieve similar functionality.
It would also be interesting to hear whether moving to WLS 7.0 would
change/fix this 'pipelining' behaviour of MDBs.
              Many thanks.
              Peter

    Hi Peter,
Since 6.0, when pipelining was introduced,
the pipeline size is configurable via the connection
factory (see "MessagesMaximum"). To tune this setting,
you will need to configure a
custom connection factory for the MDB rather than use
the default one, and specify its name in the xml descriptor.
I'm a little surprised you did not find reference to this
              setting in your search.
Regardless, you will not be able to stop the current message in the MDB.
In the next release (beta December) you can force the current tx to
rollback through the JTA mbeans. Of course, this won't stop
the onMessage() from continuing its work, but it will
guarantee that any of its transactional
              work will be ultimately discarded.
Since the app server has no control of the thread
once it is passed to the MDB app (it can't just kill
the thread), you will need to roll your
own mechanism to make it stop. One possibility is to have your MDB
"register" that it is starting with a "manager" application, and then
have the MDB poll this application to see if the system admin
has requested that the current job be aborted.
You will likely find it useful to read through the JMS FAQ. You
might also find it useful to look at the jsp queue browser app
              posted on dev2dev by Adarsh...
              Tom, BEA
P.S. The release after next release will contain more advanced message
              management features.

  • Processing takes long with ErrorLogFile in SSMS vs by Powershell

    Hi,
Actually whe have some connection problems while we make a processing on a cubebuild instance. I execute a XMLA Statement in SSMS for a partition and set these Error Configurations:
    KeyErrorLimit=10, KeyErrorLimitAction=StopLogging and a KeyErrorLogFile
Processing takes about 12 minutes. I see in Profiler that after about 3 minutes Processing is finished but the Application hangs for the next 9 minutes.
When I ignore all errors processing takes about 1:30 minutes.
I took a Powershell script from Vidas Matelis
http://www.ssas-info.com/analysis-services-scripts/1238-powershell-script-to-process-all-dimensions-and-cubes-in-one-db-limiting-workload and modified for my needs.
Processing tooks about 3 minutes with logging.
    Any suggestions why this happens?
Actually we use ASCMD for 2012 for our processing jobs. So if our further tests succeeds we will change to PS, but it would be interesting how this could happen.

  • Syntax error while loading hierarchy from an external file

    Dear Expert:
I am new to BW and I met a problem today while loading hierarchy from an external file. Actually I am following below article to load the hierarchy:
    /people/prakash.bagali/blog/2006/02/07/hierarchy-upload-from-flat-files
When I schedule the infopackage, the error message says: "Syntax error in template RSTMPL9C, ROW 76". Actually there is only around 20 lines of records.
Since I am not familiar with hierarchy load, so:
    1. while loading from external file, do I need to create one hierarchy in advance  through "Maintain Hierarchies" in the infoobject? My understanding is since I can load that hierarchy from file, so I do not need to create one in advance, once the load completed, the hierarchy should automatically generated there. Is my understanding correct?
    2. Before loading the hierarchy, do I need to load the master data of external characteristics in the hierarchy first? Here in my example, the sales hierarchy has 2 external characteritics (Country and region) in the hierarchy. Do I need to load some data first?
    3. My 'Preview' function in the infopackage is gray so that I can not test the data loading. Why is it gray?
Information like file name, file dir, file type(csv), seperator should be correct there.
Can anybody help me take a look into that? Many thanks for your time in advance!
    Tim

    Hi ctsiszidane:
There are some other SAP Notes that can help you solve the problem.  Depending on your Support Package level check which of them is applicable.
    Note 659461 - RSAR 682: Syntax error in template RSTMPL9A, row 246
Note 605690 - Escape characters are not processed correctly
Note 620152 - Syntax error in RSTMPL9A during data loading from a file

  • Using a submenu while waiting in a queue

I have a script that plays a message while someone is waiting in the queue.  The message/script allows a caller to enter additional options, while waiting in the queue, for being transfered out of the queue ("Sorry for the delay, press 2 to talk to this other company, or stay on the line for the next available rep").  One of the options presented to the caller gives them another list of options that transfer them out of the queue ("Press 1 to talk to this company, press 2 to talk to this company, press 3 to talk to this company").  I would like to add an option (and/or timeout value) to allow the member to go back to the queue to continue waiting and NOT lose their original place in the queue.  I have a couple of questions regarding this.
Is there a way to watch a call in the queue so I can see it's positional changes?
If a caller enters the submenu while in the queue and then decides they do not want any of those options, will pointing the caller to the queue label allow them to keep their place?
    Thanks
    Chris J

Unfortunately no, there's no document that will say how to do these things.
What you will find however, are doucments which talk about the features of UCCX, and then it's up to our creative minds to architect solutions from these features.
For example, if I read that UCCX can make HTTP calls, and that I can set the priority of a caller.  Then my brain immediately thinks: Hey, what if I had a web server with a list of known calling numbers for my VIP clients, and I wanted to increase their priority whenever they called in?  The web server could take a request like: http://webserver/uccx/vip?ani=6125551212, and then do it's lookup and return a customer status of either "VIP" or "Unknown".  In my script I would make the HTTP call using the calling number as part of the URL, and then read the results into a string, finally using an IF step to say: If the return value is VIP then set priority = 10.
You will not see that exact problem/solution spelled out for you in any Cisco documentation however.
So start with these three things:
    1. Read the documentation.
    SRND
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/customer/products/sw/custcosw/ps1846/products_implementation_design_guides_list.html
    Data Sheet
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/customer/products/sw/custcosw/ps1846/products_data_sheets_list.html
    Admin Guide
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/customer/products/sw/custcosw/ps1846/products_installation_and_configuration_guides_list.html
Programming Guides (stay away from volume 3 for now, and come back to it later.  It's very technical.)
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/customer/products/sw/custcosw/ps1846/products_programming_reference_guides_list.html
Script Repository (not just documentation, but actual scripts for you to look at)
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/customer/products/sw/custcosw/ps1846/products_implementation_design_guides_list.html
*Be sure to download a version at your software level or older.  I.e., If you have UCCX 8.5, then download the 7x repo, not the 9x.  You cannot open 9x files in UCCX 8.5.
    2. Use this forum.
Ask questions, and use the search, but also do two other things: 1) read every question and answer you can, you might just catch a nugget of information and 2) answer some people's questions.  Even if you don't know the answer, you can research the documentation and/or run a simple test on your UCCX box, and report back.  You'll learn from helping others.
    3. Take the UCCXA class.
It's five days of advanced scripting.  Just becareful not to take what they're saying as the only right way of accomplishing something, and question everything they tell you.  Not because it might be wrong, though that's certainly possible, but because you need to understand why a decision was made.
Here's an example of that last point:  I was in a UCCE class, where integration of IP-IVR was necessary.  The lab had us create Cisco Media Groups, but never apply them to any Triggers.  This left the Default CMG on the Trigger and none of the students questioned why we were creating these CMG's.  Because the Default CMG is sufficient to run a Call Center script, it worked.  The students just accepted it as fact: You must create CMG's.  Period.  End of story.  But they learned nothing about why you create CMG's, what they do, or how you use them.
    Good luck out there!

If SD material (and going to DVD, I'd assume so), then you might be interested in using Bill Gehrke's benchmarking test files and his spreadsheet. This will tell you where your system falls in the performance arena.
From that site, you can start to match up your system's specs., with those of others.

  • "Letterboxing...This may take a while" - 17hrs and COUNTING???!! Advice

I'm doing a football scouting film and I imported footage from a Canon XL1 and a small Sony HandyCam.
There are appx 70+ clips in the project.
When I clicked on the "EDIT" switch to start editing, I got the "LETTERBOXING. PLEASE WAIT...THIS MAY TAKE A WHILE" message...that was 17hrs ago!
My hard drive is almost FULL and I'm guessing thats why its taking so long. I keep deleting things to make room for this to finish.
    1. Why does it even have to letterbox at all?
    2. How can I speed up this process?
    3. Should I FORCE QUIT and try to start over? (I don't wanna do that)
ANY advice would be much appreciated
    thnx

I would suggest force quitting, opening a new file and on the opening window, change the bar at the bottom to say DV widescreen. Thay way it doesn't have to Letterbox

  • DB Connect Load - "Unknow error while uploading data from the DB Table"

    Hi Experts,
We have our BI7 system connected to Oracle DB based third party tool. The loads are performing quite well in DEV environment.
I would like to know, how we transport DB Connect datasources to Quality systems? Any different process to be followed for DB Connect datasources?
At present the connections between BI Quality and the third party quality systems are established. We transported the DataSource from BI DEV system to BI quality system, but on trigerring an infopackage we are not able to perform loads. It prompts - "Unknow error while uploading data from the DB Table".
Also on comparing the DataSources in DEV system and Quality system there are no fields in "Proposal" tab of datasource in Quality system. Also I cannot change or activate Datasource in Quality system as we dont have change access in quality.
    Please advice.
    Thanks,
    Abhijit

    Hi,
Sorry for bumping an old thread ....
Did this issue get ever get resolved?
I am facing the same one. The loads work successfully in Dev. The transport for DBConnect DS also moved in successfully.
One strange this is that DB User for dev did not automatically change to db user from quality when I transported the DBConnect datasource. DBCon DS still shows me the DB User from Dev in Quality system
I get "Unknown Error" whenever I trigger the data package.

Though the data in DSO satisfies those condition, but the Cube is still not being loaded.
All the loads are managed through Process Chains.
Would there be any reason in specific/particular for this type of problem?
Any pointers would be of greatest help !

    Yaseen & Soujanya,
It is very hard to guess the problem with the amount of information you have provided.
    - What do you mean by cube is not being loaded? No records are extracted from DSO? Is the load completing with 0 records?
    - How is data loaded from DSO to InfoCube? Full? Are you first loading to PSA or not?
    - Is there data already in the InfoCube?
    - Is there change log data for DSO or did someone delete all the PSA data?
Sincere there are so many reasons for the behavior you are witnessing, your best option is to approach your resident expert.
    Good luck.
