Profile manager device management disabled

I had a working profile manager but had to move to a new sever which then broke profile manager so i have performed a full wipe of the database ect and then tried to recreate a new one however i go through the configuration setup fine but under settings device management is says Disabled and i cant see any obvious way to turn this on?
Thanks in Advance

I would try demoting your Open Directory server from Master to Standalone in the Server Admin app - there's an assistant in Server Admin > Open Directory > Settings > General > click the change button.
Once it's demoted to a standalone, restart.
From there, don't create an OD Master again - go to Profile Manager in Server.app and run through the wizard again.  In the process, it will create an OD Master for you.
Hope that helps,
Chris

  • The Ultimate Guide to Resolving Profile and Device Manager Issues

The following article also applies to issues after re-setting the severs' hostname. It also applies to situations where re-setting the Code Signing Certifictateas described by Apple has not resolved the issue.
    Hello,
I have been plagued with Profile Manager and Device Manager issues since day one.
I would like to share my experience and to suggest a way how to resolve issues such as device cannot be enrolled or Code Signing Certificate not accepted.
I shall try to be as brief as possible, just giving an overview of the steps that resolved my issues. The individual steps have been described elsewhere in this forum. For users who have purchased commercial SSL certs the following may not apply.
In my view many of these issues are caused by missing or faulty certificates. So let us first touch on the very complex matter of certificates.
Certificates come in many flavours such as CA (Certificate Authority), Code Signing Certificate, S/MIME and Server Identification.
(Mountain?) Lion Server creates a so-called Intermediate CA certificate (IntermediateCA_hostname_1") and Server Identification Certificate ("hostname") when it installs first. This is critical for the  operation of many server functionalities, including Open Direcory. These certs together with the private/public keys can be found in your Keychain. Profile  and Device Manager may need a Code Signing Certificate.
The most straightforward way to resolve the Profile Manaher issues is in my view to reset the server created certicates.
The bad news is that this procedure involves quite a few steps and at least 2 hours of your precious time because it means creating a fresh Direcory Master.
I hope that I have not forgotten to mention an important step. Readers' comments and addenda are welcome.
I shall outline a sensible strategy:
    1. Clone your dysfunctional server to an external harddrive (SuperDuper does a reliable job)
    2. Start the server fom the clone and shut down ALL services.
    3. It may be sensible to set up a root user access.
    4. Back-up all user data such as addess book, calendar and other data that you *may* need to set up your server.
    5. Open Workgroup Manager and export all user and workgroup accounts to the drive that you using to re-build your server (it may cause problems if you back-up to an external drive).
    6. Just in case you may also want to back-up the Profile Manager database and erase user profiles:
In Terminal (this applies to Lion Server - paths may be diferent in Mountain Lion !)
    Backup: sudo pg_dump -U _postgres -c device_management > $HOME/device_management.sql
    Erase database:
    sudo /usr/share/devicemgr/backend/wipeDB.sh
    7. Note your Directory (diradmin) password for later if you want to re-use it.
    8. Open Open Server Admin and demote OD Master to Standalone Directory.
    9. In Terminal delete the old Certificate Authority
    sudo rm -R /var/root/Library/Application\ Support/Certificate\ Authority/
This step is crucial because else re-building you OD Master will fail.
    9. Go back to Server Admin and promote the Standalone Directory to OD Master. You may want to use the same hostname.
    10. When the OD Master is ready click on Overview and check that the LDAP and Keberos Realm reflect your server's hostname.
    11. Go back to Workgroup Manager and re-import users and groups.
NOTE: passwords are not being exported. I do not know how to salvage user passwords. (Maybe passwords can be recovered by re-mporting an OD archive - comments welcome! ).
    12. Go to Server App and reset passwords and (not to forget) user homefolder locations, in particular if you want to login from a network account!
If the home directory has not been defined you cannot login from a network account.
    13. You may now want to restore Profile Manager user profiles in Terminal. Issue the following commands:
    sudo serveradmin stop devicemgr
    sudo serveradmin start postgres
    sudo psql -U _postgres -d device_management -f $HOME/device_management.sql
    sudo serveradmin start devicemgr
    14. You can now switch back on your services, including Profile Manager.
In Profile Manager you may have to configure Device Management. This creates a correct Code Signng Certicate.
    15. Check the certificate settings in Server App -> Hadware -> Settings-> SSL Certificates.
    16. Check that Apple Push Notifications are set.(you easily check if they are working later)
    17. You may want to re-boot OS Server from the clone now.
    18. After re-boot open Server App and check that your server is running well.
    19. Delete all profiles in System Preferences -> Profiles.
    19. Login to Profile Manager. You should have all users and profiles back. In my experience devices have to be re-enrolled before profiles can be pushed and/or devices be enrolled. You may just as well delete the displayed devices now.
    20. Grab one of your (portable) Macs that you want to enrol and go to (yourhostname)/mydevices and install the server's trust profile. The profile's name  should read "Trust Profile for...) and underneath in green font "Verified".
    21. Re-enrol that device. At this stage keep your finger's crossed and take a deep breath.
    22. If the device has been successfully enrolled you may at last want to test if pushing profiles really works. Login to Profile Manager as admin, select the newly enrolled device. Check that Automatic Push is enabled (-> Profile -> General). Create a harmless management profile such as defining the dock's position on the target machine. (Do not forget to click SAVE at the end - this is easily missed here). If all is well Profile Manager will display an active task (sending) and the dock's position on the target will have changed in a few seconds if you are on a LAN (Note: If sending seems to take forever: check on the server machine and/or on your router that the proper ports are open and that incoming data is not intercepted by Little Snitch or similar software).
Note: if you intend to enrol an Apple iPhone you may first need to install the proper Apple Configuration software.
Now enjoy Profile and Device Manager !
    Regards,
    Twistan

    HI
    1. In Action profiles, logon to system and recheck correcion are available in action definition as well in condition configuration and the schedule condition is also maintained. but the display is not coming(i.e in the worklist this action is not getting displayed).
You can check the schedule condition for the action and match the status values...or try recreating the action with schedule condition again....for customer specific ....copy the standard aciton with ur zname and make a schedule condition and check the same.

  • Info about "Server profile" in Device manager

I want to update my firmware via over the air to my mobile directly.
    I am using a N73 and N82.
In device manager of N73, there is a default profile named Nokia.
I can check for updates with it from my mobile directly.
But N82 needs to define a server profile. Need ifro for that.
    Please help
    thanks

T-Mobile  did the same on their custom firmware for N97  and now I find the same on N8
no server  profile   in the end on my N97 i got so fed up i  changed the product code and got rid off all the T-Mobile nonsense blote-wear and it got me the Server profile.
I Don't want to hack product code on my N8    in Nokia's online FAQ's is says how to set the server profile but it doesn't seem to work for N8.
I wish Nokia would stop allowing networks to have custom versions. (let them brand by a theme only)
Anyone know the Server Profile settings  for N8   ?

  • FWSM missing under Campus Manager Device Management

    Hello everyone,
We are running LMS 3.2 with CM, CS, RME, etc. patched to the latest release.
Under Campus Manager -> Admin -> Data Collection -> Device Management -> Include Devices, all available devices have been added. However, our Firewall Service Module (and some other ones) are missing from the list of included devices.
The FWSM is listed under DCR and RME though. It passes and runs inventory collections and SNMP credential checks. The FWSM is running code version 4.1(1).
Is this normal behavior or should it be possible to add it to the list in CM?
    Thank you.

Yes, this is expected.  Campus Manager does not support firewall devices like the FWSM, PIX, and ASA as they do not support CDP.

  • Profile manager settings device management disabled error when enabling

    Hello,
I have installed OS-X Lion on a mac mini. Everything is working fine, including open ldap as a master where other imac can connect and use this ldap server for login.
However in profile management i try in the settings section to enable management of devices. When the wizard starts it asks me to enter the password for diradmin as this server needs a master ldap (is already there).
The wizard then mentions that this computer already has a master ldap server and i cannot continue installing device management in profile manager.
Probably because of this I cannot see devices in the profile manager portal.
Does anyone have a solution to solve this issue.
    Thanks

  • My Photosmart eStn C510a is disabled in Windows 7 64-bit device manager

After a successful install the printer appears under "Multifunction adapters" in Windows 7 device manager.  The device manager indicates that the device is disabled.
If I enable it, the printer shows up as an "Other device" with an indication that there is no driver installed.  I have run setup several times and this keeps happening.  I also tried manually updating the driver by pointing to my Temp directory (which is where setup unzips its files) but it says no driver found.
The printer seems to be working OK accept for this anomoly.  Can anyone help?

I have the same problem with my T400 updated to Win 7 pro.  Not happy.

  • Remove EDM Profile from Interval Meter of an installation-Device Management

My dear friends, I need sincere help from you .
I have an installation with an interval device installed to it.
We need to do full removal of this installed device by eg32.
The interval meter is having EDM Profile attached to it. Before doing full removal of the device from the installation using EG32,
we need to de-allocate the EDM Profile attached to this interval meter. Manually this is done by using transaction code - EEDM04
but we need to do deallocation of profile using ABAP code.
We need your help in this regard. Could you suggest ISU function modules that could be used to do the deallocation of the EDM profile from the interval Device/Meter.
Your help is really needed and appreciated!
    Thanks,

I think function module ISU_S_PROFASS_CHANGE might be useful.
Isnt't it an option to prorate the profile allocation on device removal?
You can set system parameter PRORATEPRO for this in customizing of device management:
PRORATEPRO (Limit Prof. Alloc. for Rem./Repl./Mod./Chnge to Logical
    Reg.)
During device installation/replacement/removal or when changing the
logical register number, you can use this parameter to control
whether the allocations of the profile to the register are limited.

  • Device management - Profile Manager - MDM

Device management with mac os x lion server:
I saw that with profile manager (an apple implantation of its mobiledevice management apis) allow you to enroll and manage iOS devices. I want to know if this OS with profile manager MDM can work for managing 20 ipads with MAC MINI. What hardware do you recommend to buy? MAC MINI or MAC PRO? I think mac pro will be better but I need to reduce costs so I choose MAC MINI but I want to know if it will work fine to manage our 20/22 ipads.
any advice about mac mini for managing 20/22 ipads? docuemntation/info about this?
    Thank you very much
    Regards,

We manage 500 iPads. But mdm is quite slow. When you start, you wait up to 5 minutes until devicemanager is online.

  • Device Manager and Desktop Software fail to work after a profile migration

    Hi there,
I have just moved in a Windows Domain so I had to change my IP configuration. I have done a moveuser to move my local profile to the domain's profile. My Device Manager and, therefore, desktop software are not responding anymore. I keep receiving a message of ApploaderWEBSL-Upgrade[1].msi missing in the network location.... after a couple of hundreds of cancels, it goes away.
I have tried reinstalling the BB Original CD as an Domain Administrator selecting "4 all users". I have tried downloading the Windows Installer Cleaner. I have also tried to upgrade my device's software directly from the WEB. Finally, I have tried to "promote" my Windows Account as a Domain Admin.... nothing.
The poing is that if i log in as a Domain Admin, my device is automatically recognized by the device manager.... but I can't sink cause it's not my profile...
Everything was working before my domain enrolement and IP changes.... can anyone help me?
    Thanks a lot!
    Marcos.

Hello, The most common thing to do after an update that results in issues is to perform an OS reload. Sometimes, the update processes have errors and such...with a reload often curing the issues. The official methods, which will be controlled as to what exact OS versions you are offered:http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-10-Functions-and/How-to-Reload-your-Blackberry10-O...The unofficial methods, which are cleaner, and allow you to choose an OS version that perhaps your carrier (or whoever it is controlling your offers) has been slow to approve:http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-10-OS-Device-Software/Upgrading-OS10-devices-using...http://forums.crackberry.com/bb10-leaked-beta-os-f395/bb10-os-archive-943672/Of course, before you started anything, hopefully you already took a good backup via LINK, a manual copy of your Device Memory to your PC, and full documentation of your configuration (account credentials, added apps, configurations, etc.). Sometimes, restoring from a backup returns to the device the very corruption one needs to eliminate, and reconfiguring from scratch can resolve that. Good luck!

  • Remove device and profile from call manager

Is there any documentation on how to remove phones and EM, RDP, CSF profiles from call manager in order to free up some licensing??

EM does not take any licenses, but the way you want to do this (assuming all associations are correct and dependencies would prevent you from doing it anyway):
    delete UDP
    delete CSF device
    delete RDP
    delete desk phone

  • Early on while configuring the Device Management settings in Profile Manager (Mavericks server) I received an error code -1

When I started up the Server application, Profile Manager was not selected as expected.  I selected it and started the first step of configuring Device Management in the Settings section.  I entered the organization information and went on to the next step which was to Configure an SSL Certificate
I selected a "Self Signed" Cert.  Which was the only one of the two choices that made sense.  The other being the, com.deploystudio.server - Self signed
Hit next and it processed the info and went to "Finish"  I click "Finish" and this is what I get when the setting are confirmed.
I stopped there since I suspect this error will probably come back to haunt me further down the line as if you recall we could not get the Profile to install due to the invalid cert which I suspect has something to do with this code -1 error at the get go.  I ran the one command line instruction twice to verify this was not a quirk and the same occurred.
    sudo /Applications/Server.app/Contents/ServerRoot/usr/share/devicemgr/backend/wipeDB.sh

Did you ever get this resolved? This error is usually related to DNS, hostname, or Open Directory configuration. Let me know if you still need help.

  • T440p (Windows 7) - Realtek wireless not working, repeatedly being disabled in Device Manager

    Hi all,
I have a brand new T440p (type 20AN I believe) with a clean Win7 Pro SP1 install and all Windows Updates. Very soon after starting to use it, the wireless started acting strange, it would disable itself out of nowhere. In Device Manager, it shows with a yellow exclamation (it is called 2x2 11b/g/n Wireless LAN M.2 Adapter), and if I go into details, under General -> Device Status, it says "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)"
If I right click and Disable, then re-enable, it pauses for a second, looks ok, then the Yellow ! comes back. In the Windows Event Log, it repeatedly logs Warning, Source=WLAN-AutoConfig, Event ID = 10002. The error is WLAN Extensibility Module has stopped. Module Path: C:\Windows\system32\Rtlihvs.dll
I've tried looking for a different driver, and I've uninstalled the driver from the PC completely and reinstalled, but same thing happens. The driver I have is version 2010.6.807.2013, Driver Provider is Realtek Semiconductor Corp, dated 8/7/2013. This is the same driver I found right on the Lenovo support site.
I've also tried switching the adapters on and off using F8.
I have run all necessary/relevant Lenovo updates also, from ThinkVantage Tools -> Update and Drivers. Can't recall if there was a BIOS update. I also ran sfc /scannow and it did not find any issues.
I do not have Access Connections installed. I had tried installing it to see if it made a difference, but it did not.
I found this article which seemed pretty relevant, but no help there, issues are not applicable.
Any help or advice is appreciated. Thanks in advance

    Furmann,
what is the type of wireless card in your laptop? I opened a ticket with Lenovo and asked for a brand new wifi card, and they ended up sending an Intel Centrino card (forget the number, maybe 6235?) and I swapped that out, and it has been working fine ever since.
