Profit Centre creation in common controlling area

Hi,
I am using common controlling area for all company codes in our company. However, while creating profit centre Master in the company code tab, I am not assigning the profit centre to all company codes. I am assigning it only to the company code in which it has to be used.
Will this affect the consolidation?
Regards

Actually this is based on your client requirement and your business process.
e.g.
A group of company is dealing with the following products.
SOAPS
TOOTH PASTES
OILS
If you create profit center product wise, then these have to be extended to all company codes as all the company codes are dealing the same.
If this is not the case the particular product is related to only one company, then profit center can be created only for that company code.

  • Profit centre creation - how to default CCs unchecked?

    Hello
When I create a profit centre (ECC6.0), all company codes are assigned by default.  This means that I must de-select all of the company codes which I don't want assigned, which is onerous since we have many company codes, and only wish to have one company code assigned per profit centre.
Is it possible to configure the profit centre creation setup so that the default is with no company codes assigned?
    Thanks
    Harrrry

    Hi Harry
Sorry, thats not possible in Standard..
However, you can try the below options which are user friendly
    1. KE56 - Here you can manage the comp code assignment in mass mode
    2. Use LSMW to create PC and you can uncheck the Comp Codes not required in your Excel File.. ie. Put X for those comp codes where you want to De-select them

  • Error : profit center is locked for controlling area

    Hi Experts
profit center is locked for controlling area. Like this error is comning while doing MIRO, excise invoice. Please let me know the solution. Profit center mentioned in material master is different.

    Dear,
This profit center is locked in its master under Indicators tab. Use transaction KE52 to unlock it if you want.
Your concern to Profit Center being picked up is different then Material Master then use transaction OBBH and notice the substitution assigned to your compay code for call up point 2. Then use transaction GGB1 and check any profit center derivation is done.

  • Profit Center Is not in Controlling Area BP01

    Hi
I am getting the below error. Please help me
Profit center 2100 is not created in Controlling Area BP01
    Message no. FAGL_ORG_UNITS001
    Thanks

    Hi,
It is what it's said: there is no profit centre in the CO area defined. You have to create one (KE51) or check if you are using the right one.

  • Why profit center is created at controlling area leve and cost center is not

    Hi All,
I want to know why we create profit center at controlling area level i.e., a profit center can be used by multiple company codes under that controlling area. While cost center is at company code level as in one cost center can only be used in one company code.
Please explain the logic behind this design in SAP and in real business scenarios.
    Regards,
    Satan

    Hi,
Cost centres (and other CO objects, e.g. internal order, WBS, etc.) are part of Cost Accounting component of SAP Controlling domain (CO). Profit centres are part of Enterprise Controlling (EC) domain, namely of EC-PCA. So, these two objects are not even belonging to the same domain and have, therefore, different perspective of business functionality. SAP has created reporting objects on different level of control: business areas on client level, cost centres - on company code level, profit centres - on controlling area level, etc. All this is a part of system design in functional prism of system's evolution.
Of course, technically speaking, one could have created profit centres on company code level or vice versa, cost centres on controlling area level, but it would have provoked similar questions.

  • Profit center not found in controlling area

    Hello all,
While trying to change the wbs element of a PO in ME22N, I am getting the error message "Profit center XXXX not found in controlling area".
Do any one hava an idea how to fix this problem?
Thanks in advance for your help,
    Soumaya

Check whether the PC Hierarchy has been defined or not in KCH5N / KCH6N for your Controlling area.
Single PC - Check in KE53.
If not, you need to define the PC Standard Hierarchy
    Thanks

  • Business area Vs profit centre

    hi,
can any one tell me what are the main differences between business area and profit centre.

    Hi Shanker
Business areas are used in external segment reporting (over and above company codes) based on the significant areas of operation (for example, a particular region, a branch, product lines) of a business enterprise. Financial statements from business-area wise cannot be drawn up for commercial and tax law. Business area reports (e.g balance sheets and income statements for specific area) are used only for internal reporting purposes.
Profit Centres on the other hand are internal areas of a company that the responsibility for achieving target profits or productivity goals.
The objective of BA is more for reporting purpose whereas PC allows to analyse areas of reponsibility & to delegate reponsibility to decentralised units.
Thus PC are basically treated as companies within a company & ensures effective control.
    I hope this helpls.

  • Screen-exit for profit center creation - transaction KE51.

    Hi All,
Background: The client has the requirement of importing profit centre master data from legacy system into SAP ECC system. Few of the legacy data could not be filled into existing sap fields, hence the requirement has been to populate the data into custom fields.
The client also has the requirement, that the same fields are required during online entry. For this we need to enhance the profit centre creation screen (transaction code KE51) with two additional custom fields.
Requirement: To enhance profit centre creation screen with custom fields. Screen-exit for KE51 transaction.
Pre-work: Program SAPLRKPM in SAP ECC system is the main program. It does not have any screen or sub screen area for custom fields addition. Debugged the program to check for screen-exits, found none.
Below user-exits are not either screen-exits or cannot be used for enhancing profit center screen.
PCA00001  EC-PCA: Document changes for data transfer
PCA00002  Profit Center Accounting: derivation of representative mat.
PCA00003  Derive Partner Profit Center for External Deliveries
PCA00004  Check valuation for invoice verification with transfer price
PCA00005  Check valuation for invoice verification with transfer price
PCASELEK  EC-PCA: Selection criteria for data transfer
Solution required for: Could anyone please let me know if it is possible to enhance the profit center creation screen. If yes, please provide the names of the screen-exit/  badi exit.
(Just a thought, modifying the standard seems to be the only solution, this should be the last option and i agree, please provide your inputs.)
    Thanks in advance.
    Warm Regards,
    Goutham.

Thank you Manohar for the response.
The requirement is to display custom fields on standard sap screen and there are no screen-exits. So, i suppose the standard screen has to be modified.
Could you please provide brief explanation on
May be you should consider maintaining custom mapping table instead of going for chaning standard.
    With Regards,
    Goutham.

  • New GL, Profit Centre Reporting, Settlement

    HI,
Our company system has ECC6, New GL, but no enhancement packs.
I notice that Plant Maintenance Orders, once settled, do not generate an accounting document, but only a Profit Centre and controlling document.
Therefore the GL will not agree with the profit centre reports from GR55, which are the figures we want.
    a) If we are starting a BW implementation "from scratch", is there any disadvantage to not having the Enhancement Packs fitted? Can we not just write the reports ourselves as part of the development?
i.e. does the enhancement pack 3 offer anything particular that cannot be replicated in the development?
    b) Is this normal settlement behaviour? How would this be changed so that PM orders post into the GL as well as the Profit Centres?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
Difference without enhancement pack 3 is that you do not get 0FI_GL_14 datasource. This is line item datasource on FAGLFLEXA table (with joinings on BSEG table). So for example, you get all the Billing Doc Number, Purchase Ord no., Customer, Clearing Date (for AR) etc associated with the old accounting doc along with the New GL Doc numbers.
You do get the totals datasource 0FI_GL_10 is based on FAGLFLEXT only with data structure and data same as that in the table.
The 0FI_GL_4 (based on BSEG) is available too. So if you want you can stage this BSEG data and stage new GL table FAGLFLEXA and link both in BW based on the Old Accounting Doc number which be available in both. But this would be lot of ABAP lookups, looping etc.

  • Activation of profit centre valuation

    Hi!
Can we have currency type other than company code currency & Group currency in profit center valuation?
How to activate profit center valuation with other than two currencies as mentioned above?
    regs,
    ramesh

    hi...
You can set special profit centre currency other than CO area currency(20) & Group currency(30) under type 90 as special profit centre currency.
Go to SPRO > Profit Centr Accounting > Basic setting > maintain controlling area setting
Here you can set special profit centre currency (90).
Remember once you set this and transaction is posted you can not change it again.

  • Suggestions for improving adaptibility of Profit Centre functionality

    Hi,
I have recently introduced the Profit Centre functionality in my customer organisation.
I found that by incorporating following feature will help in a big way for implementation of this feature.
1.There should be a setting in configuration (may be document wise or General), whether the Profit Centre (Distibution Rule) is mandatory or optional ? Y/N.
2.Provison for setting up default profit centre against Items(Sales/Purchase).
By introduction of above two setting SAP B1 customer organisation will be able to easily implement the profit centre functionality.Because the control will remain with the administrator to make profit centre/Distribution Rule entry mandatory in all transactions effecting accounts and as default distribution will come from Item master so users will happily adopt this functionality, and the Management will receive the important and difficult to prepare information.
Hope the SAP B1 Product development will team accept this and consider this development request for future release.
    Thanking in Advance,

    Hello Samir,
As suggested at the other thread, you can utilize 'Post Transaction Notification' feature of MS SQL. This can help you to set any validation for most of the fields, objects and actions in the product incl. Profit Centers.
We are planning certain enhancements regarding Cost Accounting functionality for the next major releases after 8.8. We'll consider your idea as a part of it.

  • Stock balances by Profit centre-New GL

    Hi,
Is there any standard FI report by which I can get the stock/material/inventory balances by profit centre and segment. We are in ECC 6.0 with new GL activated.
If there is no standard report, can this be acheived by using a ABAP query by table join.If yes, please let me know the tables to consider.
    Thanks
    Aravind

Try the report S_E38_98000088 - Profit Center Group: Plan/Actual/Variance for your inventory accounts. This will give you stock values by profit center. Leave the profit center value blank in the selection criterial. Run MB5L for stock values by inventory account and then double click the account to get the stock values by material.
FAGL_FLEXT, MBEW and MARC can be joined to get the values.

  • Profit centre at storage location level

    Hi Experts,
Can we define a profit centre @ storage location level?
    My scenario :
The document splitting of FI is activated for the document type of FI and also the profit centre is mandatory entry for any accounting document that will be created so when I am trying to post a MIGO I encounter the error
"Balancing field "Profit Center" in line item 001 not filled"
We have a option of maintaining a profit centre in plant data/storage location but i will be updated in the profit centre field of Costing1 view . But we does not want to upadate in costing view of material master data.
Basically We want the system to determine profit centre based on storage location  in Goods reciept transaction .
Helpful Sugestions on this would be helpful & rewarded max .
    points.

    Hi Raju ,
Thanx for the reply.I am Basavarajs Collougues.
Our Enterprise Structure of our Client is as follows
One company code is assigned to one plant and we have treated all the branches across India as Storage locations. Each  Branch (Storage Location- MM) is configured as Profit centres in FICO.The goods are procured for a storage location.
By using the functionality of document splitting, the profit center field is made mandatory for all the accounting documents generated in the system. Now we are trying to post a goods receipt against a Purchase Order, the system is giving error "Balancing field "Profit Center" in line item 001 not filled"
The option is there to maintain a profit center at the plant level. But we have several storage locations under the plant and each storage location has to be linked with the particular profit center. So that, while doing goods receipt the system should determine profit centre based on the storage location in purchase orders.
    Please suggest on this.

  • Profit centre in fbl1n & fbl5n

    Hi,
In case of vendor or customer line item display, the profit centre is not showing.
We have implemented GL Profit Centre concept rather than Business area concept. But now the question is when the client is asking any report on area wise vendor or customer detail in line item display, its not showing any profit centre. I can check the individual line item & in GL View i can see the profit centre in creditors a/c which is a GL A/c.so kindly reply asap.
    Thanks in adavance.....

    Raj

    Hi Raj,
For our client also we had the same requirement. Through ABAP Business Transaction event, we made the profit center field available for FBL5N/FBL1N. Take the help of your ABAPer to get this done.
