Programmatic creation of Oracle 10gAS Release 2 general mod_plsql DADs

Hi Everyone,
We use Oracle Application Server 10gAS version 10.1.2.3.0 and as part of our setup we create and use General type DADs. (Created within Enterprise Manager, under HTTP Server --> Administration tab --> PL/SQL Properties --> DADs.
My question is does anyone know if it is possible to programmatically create General type DADs via a UNIX or DOS shell? We have numerous DADs to configure and maintain and being able to set this up so that it is scripted would be much easier.
We know that the enterprise manager updates the apache conf dads.conf file as part of the DAD creation but not sure if it is possible or safe to manually edit this file.
Any advice will be really helpful.
Cheers,
Leigh.

Sorry - I probably should have checked Oracle Support earlier but all the information I need is contained in the dads.README and dadTool.README files contained under the <ORACLE_MID_TIER_HOME>\Apache\modplsql\conf

  • Oracle Designer6i Release 4 and Oracle9i Unable to add user to Repository

    Dear all,
I am currently using Oracle9i with Oracle Designer6i Release 4. Before I am able to use both Release 4 and Release 2 with Oracle9i. However, this time when I install it after a cleanup in my server. I have received the following error message when allowing a user to use repository using RAU:
    Message
    RME-00020: Internal API error - ORA-00600: internal error code, arguments: [25012], [2147483647], [0], [], [], [], [], []
RME-00011: Operation 'close' on ACTIVITY has failed
RME-00222: Failed to dispatch operation to Repository
    RME-00224: Failed to close activity
    Please help. Thank you.
    Philip

    Hi
I had exactly the same error and managed to get rid of it by deinstalling and reinstalling the client and the server with the patch (2083057) from metalink (I had previously used this patch for upgrade). There was no problem with user creation.
However, I get the same error when I try to do anything with the repository, such as, create an object. So, this is really of no help. Sorry.
Have you managed to get the installation going????
Is there anyone who has Designer 6i functioning (even partially) with Oracle 9i on a windows platform, or for that matter any platform??

  • Current Patch Set for Oracle Database Release 11.2

    Hi
I am upgrading oracle 10G to 11GR2 in AIX 5.3 Environment with SAP ECC6 , I have just just installled Oracle 11.2.0.1.0 according to the "Database Upgrade Guide -Upgrade to Oracle Database 11g Release 2 (11.2): UNIX". After database software installation , in upgrade manual in section 3.4.4 it says, you need to install current patch set for oracle database 11g R2 and referencing a SAP note 1431799.
I have just read note 1431799 which says Current Patch Set for Oracle Database Release 11.2 is not generally available for SAP customers until December 2010, also I donu2019t find the note 1522330 as mentioned in 1431799.
Please let me know how I can get current patch set to apply with Oracle 11.2.0.1.0 (Is it in SAP service market place?)
I also want to upgrade my installation to oracle 11.2.0.2, please let me know where I get the patch set to upgrade from 11.2.0.1.0 to 11.2.0.2,
    or
I have to live with 11.2.0.1.0 and apply SAP Bundle Patch ( SBP)

    Abu Al MAmun,
I understand from your posts that you recently upgraded to 11.2.0.2.
I am having the same difficulty, of finding the current patch set for 11.2. Could you please let me know how you worked around it?
    Thanks,
    Siri
    Hello Everyone,
I did read the post on to how you have to install the current patch set for 11.2.
But honestly, it pretty much flew over my head.
I am trying to upgrade our SAP AIX 64 bit test system from Oracle 10.2.0.4 to 11.2.0.2.
And so far I have downloaded all the required sw for the upgrade, except for the current patch set 11.2.
This is what I have right now:
    1) Oracle 11.2 AIX 64 bit upgrade sw - 51038805_part 1 to 51038805_part 7 and 51039800.
    2) Database Patches -->Oracle 11.2.0.2 -->
    All they have here is
    a. Database RDMBS - SAP_112020_201012_AIX.zip and b. SAP_112020_201101_AIX.zip
    b. OPatch - OPatch_11201_Generic_v3.zip and mopatch-2_1_6.zip
    c. Database Vault - DV - >Generic - p9656644_112020_Generic.zip
If I am not wrong, the Database RDBMS files are nothing but the SAP Bundle Patches that have to be installed after installing the currrent patch set 11.2.0.2 using MOPatch.
But I did not find the currrent patch set 11.2.0.2.
Could someone please explain the process to me in detail? This being my first time , I am finding it a bit hard to catch up with some of the stuff.
    Thank You!
    Siri

  • Oracle 9i Release 2 Query Evaluation

    Hi,
I have a general question regarding the mode of query evaluation in Oracle 9i release 2 XMLDB.
Specifically whenever a query of the nature:
    select extract(...........)
    from.........
is the query processed in a lazy mode or in an eager mode?
    Thanks
    JN

Sorry I do not understand the question ?
If the document stored in a table that is based on an XML Schema then the query should be resolved using XPATH re-write to convert from a XPath based expression into an equivilant SQL expression.
Lazy loading comes into play when the data is retrieved. If the extract() results in a large node set, multiple levels deep, with collection of elements that are defined as ComplexType Lazily Loaded Virtual Dom processing would take place when the result of the extract was processed.

  • Oracle Application Release 11 having error

    Hi all,
I'm having problem with our Oracle Application Release 11. When I create a new Responsibility in General Ledger, I follow the exact step to create responsibility. But when I use the responsibility to open a Form in AP>Setup>Payment>Format , it gives us this error message->>> FRM-40735 PRE-FORM trigger raised exception NO_DATA_FOUND
This is the first time we create responsibility after doing upgrade and patching. Could it probably have mess things up?
Thanks for any reply!!! Really appreciate it if anyone out there can guide us on this.

  • CMP 2 non mandatory timestamp field in Oracle 9 release 2

    Dears,
    My machine holds the following:
    Win XP pro SP 1
    Oracle 9i release 2 DB
Jbuilder X enterprise Edition with SUN ONE App Server plugin
SUN ONE Application server platform edition update 2
They are all in the same machine (so there is no problem as issue 4707531 of using different Oracle drivers)
I connect using OCI not thin.
I got the following problem when trying to test my Session EJB that calls CMP.
SEVERE ( 4716): EJB5071: Some remote or transactional roll back exception occurredcom.sun.jdo.api.persistence.support.JDODataStoreException: Got a JDBC SQLException.
Please read the remaining error stack for more information.
NestedException: java.sql.SQLException: Invalid column typeBy tracing the problem I noticed that my code works fine if I set a timestamp field in this table, this timestamp is not mandatory.
Is it a bug in SUN ONE with Oracle 9i, or anyone have a solution?

    Hi Ash,
Could you please verify that your .dbschmea file and table creation scripts are in sync. The easiest way to achieve this is to recapture the .dbschema file, repackage and redeploy.
    Thanks,
    Mitesh

  • Oracle 9i Release 2 on RedHat 8.0

I have installed Oracle 9i Release 2 on RedHat 8.0 and works perfectly.
You need to follow all the kernel settings as they are stated in the install pdf and
also take a look at www.puschitz.com . The install will stop with an error while comipling but if you follow the instructions at www.puschitz.com everything will work OK. Select create database later, just get the sofware compiled and installed.

I recently read that Mandrake ran some benchmark far faster than Suse ..
Red Hat's announcement of new release coming next spring/summer include
acknowledgement of some architectural problems that'll be fixed ..
Perhaps Mandrake got it right the first time.
Installed OK on RH 7.3 and Mandrake 9.0 (only modified the shmmax parameter).
Some problems in RH 8.0 (runInstaller exited unexpectedly halfway thru the initial configuration phase, then the make failed and I had to use the trick suggested in the excellent online article mentioned by other posts).
Interestingly, at the "46% Database creation phase", I had to wait a very, very long time while installing in RH 8.0, but in Mandrake 9.0 the datadabse creation progressed nicely, without long waits.
Since the installation was on my home machine (AMD XP 1800, 512 Mb DDRAM), I had the luxury of changing the OS (from RH 8.0 to Mandrake 9.0). I know that most people regard Mandrake as a newbie, only-for-home-use Linux, but I found it stable and reliable. Along with Oracle 9i (9.2.0), I also run JDeveloper 9.03, IBM DB2 7.1 and IBM MQ Series. And everything works fine. I might be a bit out of line here, but I believe that RH 8.0 does have some issues (I found some on my own, hence the decision to switch to another flavour, plus check out some Linux forums for a long and growing list of problems). Perhaps sticking with 7.3 for the time being wouldn't be such a bad idea...

  • "Oracle 9iAS Release 2" Link not working

    hi
I want to download Oracle 9iAS Release 2(9.0.2.0.1), but the problem is the link is not working
    "http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/ias/9ias_index.html"
this is link which directed to "Oracle 9i Application Server Relase 2".
I need the 9iAS on urgent basis but ............
    please solve my problem

I think you will have better luck on the 9iAS forum:
    Oracle Application Server - General
Personally, I had a lot of difficulties getting the full install going on 512M (it is fine if you are running JDev and OC4J and DB) but a full 9iAS, even turning off services is tough. Given you are trying 392, I think it is even more problematic.

    Workaround consits of two steps:
    1. Use jre 1.3.1_n (where n>10) (1.4.n use only if your platform is x86_64)
    2. execute following commands before you execute runInstaller or dbca:
    unset LANG
    unset LC_TYPE

  • VS2010 with Oracle 11g Release 2 giving Package did not load correctly

    Hey ,
I had a Oracle 11g Release 1 11.1.0 installed on my machine. I had a client and over that a installation for Visual Studio tools for VS2008 installed. So in the directory of 11.1.0 I had two folders of Client 1 and Client2 . I was able to use the tools in VS very well and everything was perfect.
Recently my company has decided to shift to VS2010. Now when I installed Oracle Release 2 11.2 client, it worked perfect ( tested using toad ). But when I install the tools ODTwithODAC112012, it has an issue that when I fire up VS2010 and try to add connection, it gives an error popup saying : " The 'Oracle Developer Tools for Visual Studio .NET' package did not load correctly. It asks me load VS in log mode and see the Activity log. The Activity Log gives the following entry :
<errorinfo>Could not load file or assembly 'Oracle.VsDevTools, Version=4.112.1.2, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89b483f429c47342' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.</errorinfo>
    </entry>
The assembly Oracle.VsDevTools is loaded in GAC which I've checked . So, questions in my mind :
    a. Can we have both 11.1 and 11.2 in the same machine, is that the issue?
    b. Any solution to solve this issue. Both the setup's go smoothly without any errors. Also I am able to connect to oracle very easily using toad.
    Would appreciate any help.
    Thanks,
    Sumit

You'll probably have better luck posting this over in the ODT forum, but be sure to check the Package Load Failure sticky at the top first..
Oracle Developer Tools for Visual Studio
Having multple versions of ODP installed at once generally isnt a problem but I haven't tried a situation where I've tried to have multiple ODT's at once.

  • Cloning Oracle Applications Release 11i

    Hi,
for Cloning Oracle Applications Release 11i , is it ncessary to copy jre, oui and oraInventory directories from source database tier file system to trget ?
    Many thanks before.

Applications / EBS is discussed in this category http://forums.oracle.com/forums/category.jspa?categoryID=11 (and there are more, if you look at the forums home page)
But, in general the oraInventory must exist to be able to patch or otherwise maintain the installation. Wouldn't think copying directories is a supported cloning method... Again, check with the proper forum. And use the Search function!

  • Stability of a database created on Oracle 10g Release 10.1.0.3

    Hello Friends,
I would like to confirm if Oracle 10g Release 10.1.0.3 is a suitable platform to create Database.
I have heard from a couple of DBAs that it is not a stable release to be creating and administering a Prod d/b and they recommend highly to migrate to 10.1.0.4.
    I have very recently configured a 10g d/b on 10.1.0.3 on AIX 5.2 ML 6 platform.
I would like to know if anyone have administering D/bs n 101.0.3 have hit on bugs & whether its worth doing the migration to 10.1.0.4.
    Thanking you all in Advance
    Cheers...RCube

The problem is, though, that the stability of the product is directly tied to unique aspects of your environment and unique aspects of your applications. If you are a relatively vanilla shop, doing relatively vanilla things, with relatively vanilla hardware, any version of Oracle is going to be stable. Any instabilities ought to show up during development and testing, in which case you can log an appropriate TAR and/or upgrade to a more recent patchset.
Most of the people that encounter problems in any release are doing something unusual. They may be pushing some sort of limit, they may have some esoteric hardware or software setup, they may have a particular application that wants things "just so".
There is a strong reporting bias towar folks reporting problems with any release. No one posts to a newsgroup to say "Hey, my 10g database is doing great today". The people that are most vocal are those that have encountered a problem. The folks that had problems with earlier releases have, for the most part, worked around them or upgraded-- the folks that are still running 7.3.4 are generally very happy with their database, it's been running for years without a problem. Was 7.3.4 more stable than 9.2, 10.1, 8.1.7, etc? Of course not.
I guess my point here is that no one can tell you with any confience that any version of Oracle is stable enough for your particular situation. Were I a betting man, I'd bet that it was. The only way to know for sure, though, is to test.
