Programmatically changing FieldPoint channel settings

I need to be able to change my Compact FieldPoint channel settings on-the-fly, specifically the range and attribute settings.  I've tried doing so using the "Configure Range" and "Configure Attribute" VI's, but have been unsuccessful thus far.  I can't seem to figure out what I'm doing wrong, though it may be that the cFP Modules I have are NOT listed in these VI's selection controls.  I am using 3 cFP-AI-118 modules and 1 cFP-TC-120 module on a 4-slot chassis with a cFP-2120 controller.
Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!
Jack

Hi NavyJack,
You can also install the FieldPoint 6.0 driver from the August Driver CD which can downloaded here.
Please let me know if you have any questions.

  • Changing fieldpoint settings programmatically?

    is there a way to change the channel settings from inside a running RT program? E.g. changing the gain of an input channel or switching from voltage to current input?
    So far I only see the option to configure the channels with MAX and once this config is downloaded it seems to be "static".
    Thanks!

    Hi Bef.  Yes, there is a way to do what you are asking.  Check out on the palette Measurement I/O -> FieldPoint -> Advanced -> Ethernet Advanced -> Configure Attribute.vi (on my 8.5.1 setup).
    I think not all attributes are supported, but maybe what you need is.

  • Excel VBA help: change resolution & compression settings programmatically

    Hello, I am looking for some VBA code to create a PDF from Excel (2010) but to first change the resolution and compression programmatically. My spreadsheet has an PNG format logo that requires turning the compression off, to keep it from pixelating. I am running Windows 7 and Acrobat 9 Pro  on my laptop, and Windows 8 and Acrobat X Pro on my PC, if that matters.
    I've been hoping to find something on the internet I could just copy & paste for my spreadsheets but have not found anything so far. I have found some VBA for some non-Acrobat products, but consider that a last resort, since I am already using Acrobat Pro. I am not asking anyone to write anything for me, but hopefully you can point me in the right direction, please, with some links or copying of your own!

    You don't have direct programmatic access to these settings.
    But each setting is included in a job options file and you CAN choose the job option to use when running Distiller.
    Basic method:
    1. print to file using the Adobe PDF printer (standard Excel or Windows techniques). This will make a PostScript file.
    2. run Distiller to convert the PostScript to PDF, with your selected job options. This is described in the SDK.
    Important note: the result will be like what you get when printing to PDF. Check this is suitable. You cannot do this, so far as I can see, like the Create PDF button/menu item with its extra features you might wish for.

  • How can I programmatically change the fill color Settings of the Cwslide ActiveX Controls

    First, if you want to start getting beyond the basics with DAQ, you are going to have to stop using the DAQ assistant and do it with lower level DAQmx VI's.  There are hundreds of examples in the example finder.  You can even right click on the DAQ assistant and select open front panel.  That will create a subVI that you can open and see what is going on behind the scenes.  Do it.  I think you'll find the DAQ task is being recreated on each (though I'm not 100% of how the settings are established or maintained in each section of that subVI).
    The second problem is you have a bit of a race condition on iteration 0.  Those two DAQ property nodes are running at the same time.  So when you read the AI.Max, it may be happening before or after the AI.Max is set in your case structure.
    Third, make sure you wire up your error wires.

  • Can I programmatically change a virtual channel's scaling?

    I want to be able to read and write the scaling parameters for a virtual channel. Using NIDAQ 6.8 with MAX 2.0 and LV 6.0.2.
    Thanks

    This question actually belongs in one of the Measurement Devices categories. In the future, please post to the appropriate forum. You will find similar questions and get exposure to others with similar interests when you post directly into one of those categories.
    In answer to your question, you can read the virtual channel properties, but you cannot programmatically change them. If there were a finite number of changes, you could have multiple config files that contained the same virtual channel names. Then, you could programmatically switch which config file MAX was using.
    Alternatively, you can apply the scaling in your program if you read the raw value through the virtual channel (no scale) and then pass it into a scaling function.
    You can find exa
    mples for saving virtual channel properties to a text file and for changing config files in the NI Developer Zone. Start at the http://www.ni.com/support page and choose Example Programs from the Technical Resources pulldown menu. Then, type in keywords, such as "virtual channel" or "change NI-DAQ configuration".

  • I changed the channel on my Belkin Wireless router now my ipod touch 1G can't find my wifi network?

    A few hours ago I changed the channel on my Belkin Wireless router for the 1st time. It was either on auto, or channel 6 before, i'm not sure, but I changed it to 11, and now my ipod touch 1G can't find my wifi network. I tried changing it to 6, but nothing, and I also can't go back to auto. Can someone please help. I've already searched for the network, and it says "Cant find network". I've also restarted my router. I also added the MAC address, still nothing. Other than those things, I havent touched anything else. My ipod could connect before just find. My Wifi is not disabled, and it's not on private. I can connect with other wifi's fine. And I can connect to other networks with my ipod, I also held down the button on top, and the home button for 10 seconds to restart and nothing. I also reset my network settings. Please help!

    Find the documentation for your router and look up "Reset to Factory Defaults."  This process will put the router back to the way it was when you bought it.

  • Can I Programmatically Change the Active Group on a Hypertrend in DSC?

    I would like to know how to programmatically change the active group of a hypertrend in Labview DSC.  I saw a link which said it can be done in Lookout.  But in the DSC module, the active group is read only.
    I know of a hard way to do it.  I could save the hypertrend settings as xmlSettings to a temporary file.  The active group is one of the settings.  I could then change the active group in this text file to point to the new group and then reload the settings.  But this is not a clean way of dong it.
    Anyone know if there is a easy way?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    I found a way to do it but its not very clean.  I dont know why there is not a function to change the current group.
    Here is how I did it.

  • 46YL863: Changing TV channels - delay before new picture appears

    Hope someone can advise me please on an 'issue' that's recently arisen with my 46YL863 TV.
    I say 'issue' rather than problem in case it's something to do with my settings that is causing this.
    When I change TV channels I'm noticing that there is a several second delay from the current picture to the new one. I've narrowed it down to it only happening when switching from an HD channel to an SD one, or from an SD to an HD.
    In these circumstances the screen first goes black, then blue and after a couple more seconds the new channel picture appears.
    Changing between HD channels or SD channels and the new picture appears almost immediately.
    This has not been happening prior to the last couple of days, so either a fault has developed or I've changed a setting somehow.
    I've tried other HDMI input sockets and situation is the same.
    Any suggestions please?
    Thanks.

    Further, I've now noticed that when playing back a recording from my Humax box, before the programme plays I get a few seconds of black screen before the picture appears. That didn't happen before. Don't know therefore if the problem's with my TV or the Humax Foxsat box.

  • Channel Settings and EQ in the Output 1-2 channel

    I like to use some of the canned channel settings on the mixdown channel, especially the soft enhancer and the maximizers. I also like some of the channel EQ settings like final mix pop, etc. When I add the soft enhancer to the channel strip and then add the EQ, the EQ drops the volume of the channel. This seems to defeat the purpose of the enhancer or maximizer. It doesn't seem like there is a way to EQ first, then maximize. I wondered if anyone else has tried to do this, or used the channel strip settings and EQ in different ways.
    Thanks.
    Joe

    Hi,
    using a preset is a good way to start to understand how things work. You should take your time to discover the effect of the single elements in the channelstrip and how they are applied best.
    However, you can change order of FX by dragging the plugins and holding down the CMD key.
    If you select the soft enhancer first and then enable the Channel EQ, the Channel EQ will install itself as the last plugin in the chain, which is not good. The last plugin must be the limiter. That's an iron rule. So, move the channel EQ to the top and sort the other plugins in an appropriate order, with the limiter as last plugin.

    the behavior is now correct with CS6.

  • Need help with my TOP Box--can't change the channels

    I can't change the channels, go to Guide or Menu by using the Remote Control. (it's not the remote control because i use this remote for my other topbox and it works fine)
    This happened a few hours after i had my Fios installed. (at first, it let me change the channels, then 5 times,2 and now i cant)
    Does any one have the same problem and have a solution for this?
    Thank you very much.

    do the front display buttons work?   and how close is it to the tv,  some tv's create IR interference, and if the set top is too close then it acts how you are describing.
    three solutions if that is the case.
    move the set top box further away
    change the TV brightness and color settings from the "vibrant" setting or whatever brightest they have and then try again
    Get an IR Extender so that you can move the IR 'eye' - verizon can send you one, they have them on their site or you can buy one at radioshack.
    try moving it further away for a test only,  or try to get like a piece of cardboard and shield the eye from the TV.  So if the TV is on top put that piece of cardboard inbetween the two, if they are sitting side by side, then put it inbetween the tv so it shields from one another and try it again.
    Might not be your problem, but we have seen it before.
    Also don't forget to do old faithful,  unplugging the power for the set top box, wait 30 seconds plug it back in resolves a lot of minor hiccups.

  • Display FieldPoint Channel Attributes in Labview

    Hello,
    I´d like to display the channel names of the FieldPoint Modules in LabView like they are called in Measurement and Automation Explorer 4.1. I am using a FP 1601 Bank with nine Modules and LabVIEW 7.1. I tried to use the " FP get configuration info.vi" and i got some informations, but i´d like to use the FieldPoint I/O as data input like it is at the "FP Read.vi". I can see the values of the channels, but I am missing the names.
    The very next step is to display the units of the channels, which also defined in the MAX. Is there a example for reading FP with LabVIEW , including the channel names?
    Thanks for all.
    Yours
    Urs Wehmhörner

    Hello Urs,
    there are no VIs or Property Nodes to get this information.
    Maybe you can use the "Configure Attribute.vi".
    With this VI you can enable programmatic configuration of FieldPoint channel attributes.
    You can not read this attributes but you can set them. If you set the attributes in LabVIEW you know them.
    Best regards,

  • Programmatically changing Dock preferences

    Hi,
    Using OS X 10.6.8, I am trying to programmatically change Dock settings to enforce some security guidelines at our company.
    Everything is done through a perl script, and works absolutely flawlessly when I run it locally on the computer I want to change, logged on as myself.
    Here is a basic snippet of what I've got:
    #!/usr/bin/perl
    $user = "bob";
    $file = "/Users/$user/Library/Preferences/com.apple.dock";
    # Force Top-Right hot corner to "Start Screen Saver"
    `defaults write $file wvous-tr-corner -integer 5`;
    `defaults write $file wvous-tr-modifier -integer 0`;
    `killall Dock`;
    However, when the change is executed from our policy server, it is doing something odd...The change is made to the dock plist file, however the Dock is reset to the system default settings. It looks like this only happens if the script actually makes a change. (i.e., if wvous-tr-corner was already set to 5, that would blow away the dock preferences) If we do not kill the Dock, the changes do not take effect, so we need a way to kill the Dock without it reverting back to the system default settings.
    We can also duplicate this by issuing the "defaults write"  and "killall" commands via Terminal. Note the "sudo"... When this script gets evoked from the policy server, it is called with a sudo, so we included it in our testing on the Terminal.
    For example:
    1.) Remove an icon or two from the Dock
    2.) "sudo defaults write /Users/bob/Library/Preferences/com.apple.dock wvous-tr-corner -integer 5"
    3.) "killall Dock"
    4.) Once the Dock restarts, the icons removed in Step 1 reappear
    Anybody know what is going on here? Is there any way to restart the Dock so that ~our~ changes take effect immediately, but the Dock doesn't revert back to the System default?
    Thanks!

    Problem Solved.
    When we were running the script, it was being executed as root, which means the "defaults write" commands were also being executed as root. This ended up changing ownership of the file from the user who was supposed to be the owner to root, such that when the "killall Dock" statement was issued, it could not read the plist file, and freaked out and replaced it with the system default.
    After we are done with all "defaults write" statements, and immediately prior to issuing the "killall Dock" statement, we added the following:
    `chmod 0600 $file.plist`;
    `chown bob:bobsgroup $file.plist`;

  • Changing Wireless Channel on CISCO Router

    How do I change the wireless channel on a CISCO 1811W (MPC8500) router? Currently it is channel 10 and I prefer to change it to channel 1 to reduce interference with microwave oven. I have already replaced the standard antenna with 7dBi high gain antenna.
    Out of 12 wireless clients about 3 are being dropped whenever microwave oven is turned on. These clients have Linksys WMP54G Wireless G PCI adapters. Other client computers are notebooks with builtin wireless adapters and desktops with Belkin, TRENDnet, or Motorola  Wireless PCI or USB adapters.
    All computers are within about 60'-80' radius from the CISCO wireless router and are about 20' away from the microwave oven. Any suggestions?

    I tried in SDM and could not find a way to change radio channel.
    How do I invoke command line interface (CLI)? I found the following from Cisco Wireless ISR and HWIC Access Point Configuration Guide.
    Configuring Radio Channel Settings
    Step 1          configure terminal                     - enter global configuration mode
    Step 2          interface dot11radio 0                   - enter interface configuration mode for the radio interface. The 2.4 GHz radio is radio 0, and 5 GHz is 1.
    Step 3           channel frequency | least-congested - set the default channel for the wireless radio - Channel 1 2412 MHz, Ch 2 2417, Ch 3 2422, etc.
                                                                          - To search for the least-congested channel on startup, enter least-congested
    Step 4          end                                        - return to privileged EXEC mode
    Step 5          copy running-config startup-config          -(optional) save your entries in the configuration file.
    I need help to enter into the privileged EXEC mode. Once I type https://10.10.10.1 (router IP) I get a login screen (Level_15 or view access). Once I enter User Id and Password I get Cisco Router and Security Device Manager (SDM) that has Home, Configure, and Monitor tabs.
    Configure - Interfaces & Connections - Edit Interfaces & Connections - DOT11Radio0 shows status as Up; but does not allow me to change anything. Neither channel nor frequency is displayed.
    So I not sure how to use SDM to change the default channel.
    I will appreciate any help in this regard.
