Project 2013 footer is incorrect

As you know Project sends out email notifications with schedule changes as well as failed queue jobs.
 Each email contains a preformatted footer which can’t be changed as well as a customizable section which can be configured within PWA management.
The problem is that the text is wrong on the preformatted footer and there is no way to change it.
 It looks like Project developers simply copied the text from Project 2010 and pasted it into the footer.
Here is the text that is in error:
“To turn off these notifications, go to PWA Settings, and then click Manage My Alerts and Reminders.”
The term in red is incorrect it should be “Server Settings” however there is no way to correct it.  The menu item “PWA Settings” no longer exists in 2013 and anyone trying to change their notification settings is unlikely
to click on “Server Settings” to change them.
Has anyone noticed this on their installation?  The text is the same in our production and test environments so I don't believe it's anything we have done that is causing the incorrect text.
Frank Miranda Florida Hospital MIS

Frank,
I hadn't noticed it, but I can well imagine that it is true.  The only way I could see out of this at the moment is to write your own email message as per
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/project_programmability/archive/2007/08/13/customizing-e-mail-for-project-server-notifications.aspx
I'll ask the folks I know at Microsoft.

  • MS Project 2013 - Report Page Setup Bug

    Hello
    When I create a report in MS Project, for example a cash flow, I will setup the header and footer then save and print the file. When I return the gannt chart view or any other view then return to the report and re-print, the header and footer information
    is no longer there.
    I'm using MS project 2013 stand alone with no server integration, this is going to probably stop the wider use of this tool within our team as it's a pain. Does anyone know how to work around, or is this a known bug?
    Many thanks
    Greg

    Hi Greg_London,
    According to your description, the issue is relevant to Microsoft Project. I suggestion you post the question in the Project Server forums at
    https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/projectserver/en-US/home?forum=projectserver2010general. It is appropriate and more experts will assist you.
    If you have any more questions, please feel free to ask.

  • Microsoft Project 2013 - Finish-date drop-down arrow

    When I enter a finish date with year at 2000, 2001, ... and beyond, then click the right drop down arrow, to adjust the date via., calender view, the calender view is at 2079.  I have no
    idea why it jumps forward 79 years, but obviously it makes it impractical to use the calender view to make minor date adjustments.
    Any ideas would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Scott

    Scott,
    Pardon my bumping in but let's make sure we're talking about the same thing. You use the term "calendar view" but I don't think that is what you meant. In Project the Calendar View is a whole separate defined view. You can find it on the ribbon under View/Task
    views group. One of the reasons I don't think you really mean the Calendar View is that I'm not aware of any right drop down arrow anywhere on that view, but then I don't have Project 2013.
    So, for clarity sake, do you really mean the small calendar that pops up when you activate a date field cell (e.g. Start, Finish, etc.) and then hit the selection arrow, (which is on the right side)?
    This may seem like a small thing but more than once have we gone round and round trying to help a user when part of the problem was a misunderstanding due to incorrect terminology.
    One other thing. I assume you realize that by entering dates directly into the Start for Finish fields, you will be setting a constraint on that task.
    With that, I'll leave it to Guillaume.

  • App-V 5.0: Adding Visio 2013 and Project 2013 to a previously deployed virtual Office 2013

    Good morning.
    I can successfully deploy Office 2013 via PowerShell and App-V v5.0 without difficulty.  I've read the document at
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2915745/en-us and followed all instructions successfully.
    My question is this:  If Office 2013 without Visio 2013 or Project 2013 is virtually deployed, how can those components be added later?
    For instance, we may have 100 users that acquire a virtualized Office 2013 without Project or Visio.  We then may have 25 users that require a virtualized Office and Visio without Project and, perhaps, another 15 that require Office and Project without
    Visio.
    Currently, when I attempt a second virtual deployment of one of these components, it removes Office 2013 making it inaccessible.
    How can Project and/or Visio be deployed to an already existing virtually deployed Office 2013?
    Thanks very much.

    As a part of MDOP, you'll also have access to UE-V which will provide a mechanism of moving user preferences across the same applications from difference packages.
    It will require planning, configuration and deployment, but will ensure you don't face the same issue in the future.

  • Project 2013 APP-V Plugin

    Hi,
    I have a Project 2013 APP-V package created and published successfully. Now I have a requirement from user to add a plugin for Project 2013.
    I don't want to make this plugin to be available to all users. Any solutions?
    I thought of creating a connection group for the individual project 2013 which is already published to this add in but I think I am confusing app-v here and it installs and uninstalls simultaneously.
    Is there any possibility to create a connection group with the same package which is published individually?
    Regards,
    Chetan.T.V

    What version of App-V do you use? If 5.0 SP3, then take advantage of a new feature - having optional packages in a connection group. Create a connection group that contains your existing Project 2013 package and add the add-on package (if you haven't created
    a package yet, do that) as an optional package. Publish Project 2013 and the connection group to everyone that should get it and publish the add-on package only to the users who need it. That should work.

  • Project 2013 - entering work hours at a monthly level

    Hi all,
    Any help with this 'hopefully small' problem will be hugely appreciated. It's not so much a problem, but
    me still being new to Project - sorry! As a summary of what I am working with:
    I have entered a list of tasks (all set to Manually Scheduled).
    I have entered a number of resources into the Resource List.
    I have also assigned relevant resources to the tasks.
    Using the Task Usage view, I would now like to begin entering Work hours for the resources assigned to the
    tasks. We are planning at a monthly level, so I know how many hours each resource is expecting to be spending on each task over each month.
    I have set the Timescale of my Task Usage screen to a monthly scale, thinking that this would allow me to
    enter total hours for each month. As an example, one of the resources assigned to a task is set for 15 hours of Work in April. It all seems to look OK on input.
    My problem is however, I would like the Start and Finish fields to reflect this, and span over the months
    in which the Task's resources will be doing work. It doesn't seem to pick up the month accurately. Although I have entered the 15 hours in the column labelled April, the Start and Finish dates have come out as 30/04/14 and 30/05/14 respectively. I was hoping
    the Start and Finish times of that row to be 01/04/14 and 30/04/14 respectively, but they are a month out of line, and has show the work to be happening over May, not April. Is there y way I can change this?
    I hope this makes sense as a question? Any help at all would be brilliant. Please do let me know if I've
    missed any detail and you need some more info. I'll also continue looking through the forums to check if this has already been asked.
    p.s. I tried to upload an annotated image, but my account needs to be verified first. Do I need to do anything to request this? I didn't receive any usual 'verification' links in MS's email on opening this account.
    Thanks very much,
    ac18

    Hi John, Julie,
    Thank you both very much for the help! Yes good spot, I did post it on both forums (http://www.msofficeforums.com/project/21190-project-2013-entering-work-hours-monthly-level.html) - it's been years since I've used forums of any kind, and it's great to see
    experts being active across multiple sites!
    I have given both suggestions a try, but unfortunately am still not quite there yet.
    John, although your tip seems to work OK, I think I was hoping to find a way for the Start and Finish times to automatically span across the Work hours I have entered. If I was to then enter another 5 hours, but this time for March, the Start-Finish dates
    should auto update to be 01/03/14 - 30/04/14. I understand now that this may require me to be on an Automatically Scheduled project?
    Julie, your screen shot on the msofficeforums.com website is exactly what I am looking to achieve! I would like to enter month-level Work data, and that looks to be exactly that. I did try entering a zero in the month immediately after the last month that
    had hours in it, but Project seemed to simply ignore it, with no visible change to the dates.
    I have done some further investigating, and there does seem to be something different happening with my Project version (it's Proj Prof 2013). I have access to another computer with Project 2010 installed on it, and this doesn't seem to cause an issue. Note,
    I did need to have set the tasks as Auto Scheduled.
    Essentially, if I try and exactly replicate Julie's example on both versions with the following steps, I get slightly different results:
    Tasks set to Auto-Scheduled.
    Set Project Start Date to 01/01/14
    Enter some resources.
    Switch to Task Usage view.
    Set the Timescales on the right hand side to: Bottom tier=Months, Middle tier=Quarters.
    Enter a task.
    Assign resources to the task. At this point, by default 8 hours worth of work appears for each assigned resource. In 2010, these hours appear in the January 14 column. But on my 2013 laptop however, these hours appear under the December 2013 column. Strange?
    Anyway, in both cases I clear these default hours by entering zeros in their places.
    I now enter 15 hours under April 2014 for one of the resources on the task.
    In 2010, the Start and Finish dates of the assigned resource's row update to 01/04/14 - 30/04/14.
    In 2013 however, the Start and Finish dates update to 30/04/14 - 30/05/14.
    I have a feeling that this discrepancy is perhaps at the heart of my problem? Is there a setting with the application that I am not making?
    Thanks again,
    Arjun

  • Acrobat XI no longer works after installing Project 2013

    Hello All,
    This one is really odd and I can't find any documentation anywhere.  I have a client that has Office 2010 and Acrobat XI Standard.  I just installed Project 2013 on the machine and now right clicking on any Office file will not show the option
    to create PDF.  He can right-click on a Project file and create one but not on any other Office file.  I have never seen this before.  Any thoughts?
    Regards,
    Rob Battaglia

    Yes I have - no luck.  This system is using Office 2010 x64 and Project 2013 x64.  This all happened after installing Project.  The right click on a file works for Project just not for Office.  I did check to make sure the add-in was
    present for both Excel and Word - PDFMaker.dll is selected in both and the user can create PDF files from within Word and Excel - just not when right-clicking on the file in Windows Explorer.

  • Project 2013 - How do you sort the list of Enterprise Templates in Project Pro?

    In Project Pro 2013, click File > New > Enterprise I see the list of templates from our project server. We have a global installation with 40-50 templates. These are displayed in a random order and reading through the whole list to find the one I
    want is quite tedious. Is there a way to sort this list alphabetically? Can the list be displayed as a "details" view rather than icons?

    Greg --
    Guillaume is totally correct.  The display order of enterprise templates is by the date they were created.  I have tested this on a Project Server 2013 system that has the latest Cumulative Updates applied.  The problem is that in the
    Microsoft Project 2013 desktop application, Microsoft has ditched the Templates dialog we used to see and replaced it with a page in the Backstage.  I am afraid that in doing so, they have eliminated the sorting capabilities that we found in earlier versions.
    Out of curiosity, I have sent an e-mail to my MPV contacts within the Microsoft Project Server development team at Microsoft, asking if there is any intention of changing this functionality to allow for sorting by template name.  If I get an answer,
    I will post it in this user forum.
    Your question is a good one, and the sorting problem (or lack of sorting) can be a real problem in any organization that has a sizable number of enterprise templates.  Hope this additional bit helps.

  • Can't Create PDF from Microsoft Projects 2013

    I am trying to PDF a Microsoft Projects 2013 files.  I've tried print PDF and save as PDF but both options give me a pop up window that says "Creating Adobe PDF" with a progress bar displayed with 3 blue bars filled.  I leave it that way for about an hour and nothing happens.  I've tried updating the Adobe Acrobat and Repairing it in the Programs and Features menu.  Any help will be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

    Thanks for the prompt response.  I don't know how to print-to-file and open the file in Distiller.  The printing as PDF doesn't even work.  It gives me the "Creating PDF" pop up window to which there is no end to. (see photo above)  As for updating to version XI, my colleagues who are running Acrobat X Standard with MS Projects 2013 do not have a problem at all when printing.  I want to avoid upgrading if version X is still usable.  Any other thoughts?

  • SP2013 and Project 2013 - project files open in read-only mode with no options to edit only Save As

    Hi all,
    Environment:
    SharePoint 2013 (15.0.4420.1017)  RTM
    Windows 8 - Project 2013 (15.0.4433.1506) 32Bit
    Issue details:
    When opening .mpp files stored within SharePoint they are opened successfully within Project 2013 however they are opened in Read-Only mode with no options to edit/check out only Save As.  The
    same outcome is experienced if you click the document link within SharePoint or you chose to edit from the document menu.
    Opening the file through windows explorer also opens only in read-only mode.
    To date we’ve tested the following
    Windows 7 – Office 2010 = working as expected
    Windows 8 – Office 2010 = working as expected
    Windows 7 – Office 2013 = opening as read only, no prompt to edit
    Windows 8 – Office 2013 – opening as read only, no prompt to edit
    Current thinking is that it is an issue with either the SharePoint Office Documents Class ActiveX control or Project 2013 itself interacting with SharePoint 2013.
    We have tested this in multiple SP2013 environments with the same outcomes.
    The workaround therefore is to save locally and then upload again which is not ideal.
    Unable to find an exact issue match to this.
    Any help with this appreciated.

    Hi Dan,
    For us after investigating this further it was found that using the document menu to edit or checkout and then edit results in the project file being opened in read-only mode.
    The same issue was present for Visio files.
    Using the FILES ribbon menu results in the document being opened in edit mode successfully in both Project and Visio.
    Please note that we found that this issue only exists within document libraries where checkout is required to edit which was our case.  If checkout is not required the document
    menu can also be used as expected.
    Cheers,
    Dan

  • The printing of .pdf file from Project 2013 stops when the file name should be written. Project 2013 crashes. Does someone know what is wrong between Project 2013 and Adobe Acrobat 9?

    The printing of .pdf file from Project 2013 stops when the file name should be written. Project 2013 crashes. Does someone know what is wrong between Project 2013 and Adobe Acrobat 9?

    The Acrobat 9.x product family passed into "End of Support" mid-year of 2013.
    Acrobat 9 support of MS Project via PDFMaker stops with Office 2007.
    For Office 2013 support you must use Acrobat XI (11.0.1) or newer.
    A good to have reference:

    Acrobat Pro and Standard DC are what are currently available for purchase.

  • Project 2013 REST API - getting all tasks assigned to a user

    I'm trying to get all tasks assigned to a user to display something like you would see in "My Tasks" using the REST API.
    I found this: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/projectserver/en-US/a5d8760d-8e27-432b-8187-592cadf302ae/get-my-tasks-tasks-via-rest-api-or-web-services?forum=sharepointdevelopment
    But it doesn't seem to pertain to Project 2013.
    Any idea on how I could do this?
    As an aside, I'm having some trouble with finding guidance in the documentation. Are there any Project 2013 developer resources that break things down a little more than the SDK? Everything I've found is pretty Sharepoint-centered, not really getting into
    the specifics of Project.

    Check the samples folder which gets installed with SDK, there you will find some samples, however may not be the REST but with CSOM you could try something like this, i am sure you would be able to convert this pretty easily, in case required
    projContext = new ProjectContext(pwaPath);
    var PrjList = projContext.LoadQuery(projContext.Projects.Where(Prj => Prj.Name == newProjName));
    projContext.ExecuteQuery();
    var GotPrj = PrjList.First();
    //DraftProject projCheckedOut = GotPrj.CheckOut();
    projContext.Load(GotPrj.Tasks);
    projContext.ExecuteQuery();
    foreach (var tsk in GotPrj.Tasks)
    this.textBox1.Text += Environment.NewLine + "Task Name: " + tsk.Name + " || Task Work: " + tsk.Work +" || Task Remaining Work: " +tsk.RemainingWork;
    projContext.Load(tsk.Assignments);
    projContext.ExecuteQuery();
    foreach (var tskAssgn in tsk.Assignments)
    projContext.Load(tskAssgn.Resource);
    projContext.ExecuteQuery();
    this.textBox1.Text += Environment.NewLine + tskAssgn.Resource.Name + "--Res ID--" + tskAssgn.Resource.Id +

    Since the issue is more related to Project server 2013 products, and here we do not have sufficient information and resource to offer. I'd recommend you ask the question in Project server forum for professional assistance. For your convenience:

  • Project 2013 client does not show Project Online Enterprise Custom Fields

    I have about 20 task level custom fields in my Project Online instance. When I open a project and edit a task using Project 2013 client, only a handful appear in the Custom Fields panel.
    Question:
    How do I expose all Enterprise Custom Fields to the Task Information - Custom Fields panel in Project 2013 client?

    Quite a strange issue...
    It could be interesting to test from another machine with another user profile. Have all the fields been created from PWA/server settings? Can you try to create a brand new field from there and test again?
    Then also try to find out what is the specificity of the "end use" custom field which is displayed in the task information dialog box. Basically if 1 is working then the others should also work.
    Hope this helps,
