Protect doctype changes from template?

I'm inserting a few dynamic ASP.NET pages into an existing
template based site. The template update wipes out my HTML and
DocType tags. Is there a way to protect these from being rewritten?
my ASP.NET page:
<%@ Page Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true"
CodeFile="RideMatchReg1.aspx.cs" Inherits="RideMatchReg1" %>
<% //Do NOT remove - this comment keeps DW template
updater from rewriting the above Page directive %>
<%@ OutputCache Location="None" %>
<%@ Register TagPrefix="mv" Namespace="MansoftValidators"
%>
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0
Transitional//EN" "
http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
<html xmlns="
http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
<!-- InstanceBegin template="/Templates/MAIN.dwt"
codeOutsideHTMLIsLocked="false" -->
<HEAD>
After a template update:
<%@ Page Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true"
CodeFile="RideMatchReg1.aspx.cs" Inherits="RideMatchReg1" %>
<% //Do NOT remove - this comment keeps DW template
updater from rewriting the above Page directive %>
<%@ OutputCache Location="None" %>
<%@ Register TagPrefix="mv" Namespace="MansoftValidators"
%>
<HTML><!-- InstanceBegin
template="/Templates/MAIN.dwt" codeOutsideHTMLIsLocked="false"
-->
<HEAD>
Note the DOCTYPE tag is gone and namespace has been removed
from HTML tag.
I'm reluctant to modify the template with my tags as I'm not
sure if there are any side effects due to HTML version difference
in their existing pages. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I think you will have to contact MM support and open a
trouble ticket on
this. The good news is that if it is found to be a bug (and
it almost
certainly will be), you will not be charged for this ticket.

  • Changing header information in pages made from templates

    I am familiar with GoLive and using components for menus to
    accomodate universal changes.
    I am new to Dreamweaver (CS3). I am using templates for my
    menus so I can make universal changes. However, what do I do if I
    want to put a form on a page and need to be able to put some code
    in the header? I cannot because the header is non-editable on pages
    made from templates.
    Are templates the only alternative to GoLive Components?
    THX

    This is the sign of an improperly made template.
    Do this -
    Create a new page (Basic HTML).
    Use FILE | Save as Template....
    Look at the code in the head region of the page, particularly
    the editable
    region around the <title> tag, and the other editable
    region in the head
    called "head".
    Make your template file look like that.
    Always use FILE | Save as Template when you create your
    templates and you
    won't have this problem again.

    I am changing from Word to Pages. I have created my custom template with all my styles etc and that is what comes up when I go for a New Document. Fine. How do I get it to use the same Custom Template when I use Pages to open a Word document?

    The template is a document in itself, it is not applied to an existing document whether it is a Pages document or a Word document converted to a Pages document.
    You would need to either copy and paste content, using existing styles, or apply the styles to the converted Word document.
    You can Import the Styles from an existing document and those imported Styles can be used to override the current document's styles:
    Menu > Format > Import Styles
    The process is simplified if the styles use the same names, otherwise you will need to delete the style you don't want and replace it with the one that you do want when asked, then the substitution is pretty straightforward.

  • New From Template Changes Relative Links to Local Root?

    Thank you for taking the time to read and understand my plight with Dreamweaver CS3 for Mac. I apologize for the lengthy question, but in the effort to provide detail I shall go. First the background:
    I'm updating, editing, and appending an existing site that was previously created with Dreamweaver.
    I'm new to Dreamweaver but have a pretty good understanding of things
    I created a new site on the local drive on my MacBook Pro and then downloaded the entire site via FTP (live site: domain.com)
    I then replicated the site and exact file structure using FTP to a staging server (staging.domain.com)
    There are three existing .dwt templates. I've successfully updated the template file and auto updated all other pages that were based on this template.
    But my problem comes from creating new pages FROM the template. It appears that while the .dwt template file shows relative links (../xxxx) in the code, when create a new file from the template the url of these links is replaced by the path to the file on my local drive... I want non of this (.../xxxx) is fine.
    What is happening is that a javascript drop down menu is disappearing when I create new from template. I am assuming it's because of the path changes.
    This is the ORIGINAL (good) code from the .dwt:
    <!-- Top Navigation -->
    <tr>
         <td height="31">
              <table width="718" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0">
                   <tr>
                        <td width="24"><img src="../images/L-Header-Corner.gif" width="30" height="50" border="0"></td>
                        <td width="342" style="background-image: url(../images/Header-BG.gif);"><img src="../images/spacer.gif" alt="" width="337" height="1" border="0"> </td>
    But when I create a NEW page from the above template the code is changed to the local path:
    <!-- Top Navigation -->
    <tr>
         <td height="31">
              <table width="718" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0">
                   <tr>
                        <td width="24"><img src="file:///Grasshopper/Users/allan/Documents/clients/site/site staging master/images/L-Header-Corner.gif" width="30" height="50" border="0"></td>
                        <td width="342" style="background-image: url(file:///Grasshopper/Users/allan/Documents/clients/site/site staging master/images/Header-BG.gif);"><img src="file:///Grasshopper/Users/allan/Documents/clients/site/site staging master/images/spacer.gif" alt="" width="337" height="1" border="0"> </td>
    To be sure all links in the template file are changed too.
    This is the .dwt file itself
    This is a random page created from the above template.
    And this page was created by simply altering the .dwt template file linked above and then SAVING AS. You can see the relative links remained and the navigation bar looks and operates as normal.
    To provide easier visual reference I offer the following:
    This is the .dwt file when opened in dreamweaver:
    Note the black area where the javascript drop down menu is in the top navigation when the page is correct:
    But when I create a NEW page from template this is what I get in the top navigation bar:
    And then this is what it looks like when posted:
    Ultimately what I'm trying to do is:
    1) work on site files on my local drive
    2) sync the local drive with staging.domain.com so my client can proof and approve
    3) sync to the actual live site at domain.com
    I assume I could simply do this by changing the ftp info and given the site structure and all files are same and ideally all links are relative this should be accomplished easily.
    Though perhaps my problem stems from the fact my local site is buried several layers deep on my local drive Local Drive/Users/Me/Clients/Client.... etc... but I haven't checked this yet.

    Great... Thanks for your patience....
    Here are links to all questioned files on the staging server:
    This is the .dwt file itself
    This is a random page created from the above template that shows the image/navigation incorrect.
    And this page was created by simply altering the .dwt template file linked above and then SAVING AS. You can see the relative links remained and the navigation bar looks and operates as normal. (obviously the wrong thing to do.
    And this page is one that was created prior to my working on the site and was based on the subpage template and displays correctly.
    Now bear with me here as I notice this behavour too.
    In the code snipped taken directly from the DW .dwt template (linked above)
    <td width="24"><img src="../images/L-Header-Corner.gif" width="30" height="50" border="0"></td>
                        <td width="342" style="background-image: url(../images/Header-BG.gif);"><img src="../images/spacer.gif" alt="" width="337" height="1" border="0"> </td>
    you'll notice there are two images L-Header-Corner.gif and one that is Header.BG.gif.
    The difference here is that the BG gif has a style attributed to it "Background-Image) which is followed by some strange code that says (url)../
    Opening that file Background Image and it's a tiny slice of what I think is part of the entire missing gray bar:
    In a page that displays correctly the code looks like this:
    <td width="24"><img src="../images/L-Header-Corner.gif" width="30" height="50" border="0"></td>
                        <td width="342" style="background-image: url(../images/Header-BG.gif);"><img src="../images/spacer.gif" alt="" width="337" height="1" border="0"> </td>
    And in a page that is displaying incorrectly the code appears like this:
    <td width="24"><img src="../images/L-Header-Corner.gif" width="30" height="50" border="0"></td>
                        <td width="342" style="background-image: url(file:///Grasshopper/Users/allan/Documents/clients/koolfog/koolfog website staging/images/Header-BG.gif);"><img src="../images/spacer.gif" alt="" width="337" height="1" border="0"> </td>
    So you can see that the link in this case (with the URL and style) has actually been converted to a site (my hard drive) relative link when saving.
    So the pressing question stands: Why doesn't dreamweaver convert that URL link when saving a page created from a template back to the same directory?
    Also, it appears that in that .DWT all the links have the leading periods and therefore are document relative... since I didn't set this up, how do you think this happened?

  • Change font size in Z-Report created from template

    A Z-report is being created from template which uses WWI.INI file integration to generate the report in Microsoft Word. In that report the text from phrases is passing over the specified text box. So all the phrases are not displayed.
    Now user either want the size of font to decrease or change the size of the box.
    We are going ahead with changing the font size. To do so we are editing the template in CG42. Is this approach is correct or we can change the font size from somewhere else??. If yes ,then how to proceed ??
    Your help will be greatly appreciated as I am new to EHS and have very limited knowledge.

    Hello Aasim,
    Just try it out
    If you are afraid to destroy something on the WWI template create a copy of the template and do your testing there....
    Read the SAP help on WWI.
    Can I edit font in the Microsoft Word file which is generated after I click "Document (F7)" button??
    Yes you can.
    If yes , then suppose I change the font size in a text box there.Does the font of phrase's text also changes accordingly when the report is generated.
    Yes.
    And does that change is for all the phrases in that text box ( since no. of phrases varies according to the specification)???
    Yes it will change the font size for all phrases in that text box.
    There is an option in WWI where you can change the text size dynamically if the text is in a real text box.
    However I'm currently not sure if this works for all kind of WWI templates or only for labels.
    Hope this helps
    Mark

  • Email created from template doesn't include changes

    I originally asked this question here:
    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/office/forum/office_2013_release-outlook/email-created-from-template-doesnt-include-changes/a0300d60-6649-479b-bb2d-8ed61d54e908
    And was told to post here since I'm working on an Exchange Server configuration.
    So the issue is essentially this: I create an email template and then create a new email with that template. When I send the email, it sends only the template and none of the changes or additions made to the email. This is also the case if I save the email
    as a draft rather than send it.
    Thanks,
    Brian

    Hi,
    Please switch to Exchange Online Mode, can you send/save the changes to the template?
    Since you mentioned in the previous thread, you created a new profile and this issue's gone then, I suggest you repair the data file(.ost) to check the result:

    I hope this can be helpful.

  • How to protect Conversion file from changes

    Dear All,
    Is there any way to restrict users on change conversion files ? my requirement is, need to protect conversion file from changes.
    I have tried normal Excel password protection,it is not working.
    thanks in advance...
    regards,
    Raju

    Hi Raju,
    Why do you want to protect the conversion file?
    Conversion file is used insight of transformation file only.
    That's means if an user will change the transformation file to use another conversion file it doesn't matter if you protect the conversion file.
    So actaully if I understood correct is that user should not be able to change the conversion and transformation file.
    This can be done in two wat:
    Into task profile don't give to the user access to do Organize package list.
    Second into your DM package eliminate the prompt for transformation file.
    I hope this will help.

  • How to migrate changed Business Scenarios from Template Project to Solution

    SAP Solution Manager - How to migrate changes in Business Scenarios from Template Project to Solution?
    Our Global ASAP strategy is based upon a Template Project, Implementation Project, Maintenance Project and Solution with Business Scenarios.
    Changes in the Template Project for existing and new Business Sceanarios, etc. are correctly executed. Up till now we have successfully implemented our Template Project and secondly extended our Business Scenarios from 4 to 14. Our 3rd upcoming change will be changes on Business Scenarios as well. These planned changes for the Business Scenarios need to be consistent, possibly without manual intervention.
    During a Proof of Concept (PoC) in our Sandbox (SXB) we have identified a possible serious problem when trying to publish these changes in Business Scenarios in the Template Project to the Solution. SAP Solution Manager (SSM) does not seem to support a scenario where Business Scenarios in the Solution can be refreshed or updated with changed Business Scenarios in the Template Project.
    We have identified 2 possibillities:
    1.     Manual project upgrade
    1.1.     Synchronize the changes for the Template Project normally;
    1.2.     Delete the changed Business Scenarios from step 1.1 in the Solution;
    1.3.     Add the changed Business Scenarios from step 1.1 into the Solution.
    For this scenario we foresee a big problem because all Content and Issues connected to the old Solution Business Scenarios loose their coupling with the Solution.
    For the Content this may not be a real problem because the Content is also available in the Template Project.
    However the Issues are loosely coupled to the Solution Scenarios and therefore need to be coupled manually to these processes.
    2.     Manual changes using Maintenance Project
    2.1.     Synchronize the changes for the Template Project normally;
    2.2.     Publish all changes from step 2.1 in the Template Project
    2.3.     Add all new Content from step 2.1 to the structure of the Maintenance Project;
    2.4.     Relocate Content and Issues when the Business Scenario has been relocated.
    Because SSM does not support this activity we need to delete this Business Scenario first and secondly re-create it again on the correct spot.
    Our question: How has SAP done this in other customer projects?
    We need to have a working solution by the end of March, 2009.
    Best regards,
    Peter Hendriksen

    Peter,
    Did you get an anwer to this question from SAP?

  • Image Locations Change After Saving from Template

    I am using DW CS5.  I have made a Template using a dozen or so images.  There are four in a side nav bar.  When I create a new page (Page from Template), all my images and text show up fine with code like: <img src="images/wedding.jpg"/>.  However the two of the four images in the nav bar show the code linking it to its place on my local drive.  The other two work fine.  I tried publishing the page and the code didn't change.  No matter what I try the code will not update for those images.
    Any help appreciated.

    That worked for that page!
    I am ready to make multiple pages from the template.  Should I use a different method than "New Page from Template" since that doesn't seem to work properly?  I don't want to have to manually apply the template to every page if I don't have to.
    Thanks.

  • Protecting my script from spanners ???

    Protecting my script from spammers ????
    I am a newbie.  I am using DW CS5.  I have a members register form and a database for the users set up.  I use the DW service behavior of “recordset” and “insert record” to add the new users from the form to the database.  All works well except for one (?) problem.
    A book I was reading suggested that I should test to make sure that no illegal characters are inserted in the user submitted values by using the lines of code below to strip slashes from the input before updating the database.  I would have thought the DW did this as part of their standard code.  But when I test DW by adding some illegal characters in one of my values, the illegal characters still show up in my data when I view the table using phpMyAdmin.
    I have tried to add this code (with and without some modifications) to the “standard” DW code (this code is located at the end of this posting) generated by DW without any success.  DW gives me an error if I make ANY change to the “standard” DW code.
    My questions:
      1.   Does the “htmlentities” function and the “get_magic_quotes_gpc() “  in the DW code do the same or similarly job of stripping illegal characters from the fields?  If so, why is the get_magic_quotes_gpc only applied for less than PHP- 6 ?
      2.   If yes, why do I still see the slashes in my data when I view it with phpMyAdmin?
      3.   What is the best way to protecting my script from spammers inserting illegal characters in my scrip using the tools that comes with DW CS5?  Or should I use some other method?

    Thank you.

    Relying on an editor like DW to protect your DB or spam attacks is not a good idea.  Spammers and those that wish to attack your database work at it as a full time occupation, so when some new protective script comes along, they work on overcoming it.
    "" If so, why is the get_magic_quotes_gpc only applied for less than PHP- 6 ?""
    Magic quotes are deprecated and will not be in PHP6.
    I would suggest using this for your email variable:
    $email = filter_input(INPUT_POST, 'email', FILTER_VALIDATE_EMAIL);
    I would look up "re-captcha" and "honey pot' for some additional security.
    Here is something I put together some time back, it is not complete or comprehensive and more research should be done, but it might help you to understand a little better.

  • Clicking "page from template" does not allow me create new pages

    I stared designing a site with the trial version of CS4. Of course it involved a lot of trial and error, creating a page and canceling it again etc. At last I was able to design the index page and a few other pages, but suddenly just about 7 days into the trial period, the template started looking different; not displaying the images and displaying the home page article in an improper way. I also discovered that I could not create new pages by selecting file\new. When the new document dialogue page opens and I select "page from template" and then select a site I am working on, nothing shows in the items list. I only see the message "no items". Moreover, the "create" (new page) button is no more a click-able area.
    I even tried it by proceeding as if I wanted to design a new site. I click file\new\page from template\the site, but when it comes to the stage where I should select "2 column liquid, left sidebar, header and footer" after clicking “page from template” I don't see anything in the items column. It only tells me "no item."
    I thought this problem was due to the fact that I was using the trial version and that the trial version was limited in the number of new pages I could create. So I bought the full version. Alas! I discovered that changed nothing. Right now am stuck. Do you have any suggestion?

    I think you're are confusing DW Templates with CSS Page Designs and Starter Pages.
    Templates are a DW proprietary device.  They permit you to have sitewide elements such as common menus, headers and footers on all your pages along with Editable Regions for page specific content (i.e. the stuff that changes on every page).
    DW Templates looks like this (notice the Template Editable Comments):
    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
    <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">

    <!-- TemplateEndEditable -->
    </head>
    <body>
    <!-- TemplateBeginEditable name="Content" -->My Page Specific Content Goes here

  • CSS not displaying in Dreamweaver Preview (from Template file)

    Greetings!
    I created a page in dreamweaver with attached styles which was working just fine. Took the page and turned it into a template - which was also working fine.
    Then applied the template to a page and styles are not showing at all.
    Looking at the code my stylesheet is attached properly and uploading the page to a live server, the styles all display fine. It is just Dreamweavers is somehow not rendering the stylesheet.
    I have double checked and ensured that the rendering of css is turned on. That the media is set to screen etc. Still I cannot get the CSS to render in design view.
    As a temporary workaround, I can re-attach my stylesheet as a design time stylesheet and it renders just fine.
    Anyone have any ideas what might be happening here? Is it a Dreamweaver cache issue?
    Only thing I can think is that I do have some PHP code in the head section, but the page is a PHP page so that should not be an issue?
    I would appreciate any help or ideas anyone can offer!
    Thanks,
    Martin

  • Workshop 8.1 - How to change anchor_submit_form template ?

    Hi everybody !
    Can i change anchor_submit_form template ? The generated JavaScript doesn't work either in IE or Mozilla : document.forms[x].submit() fails, but the request is sent because href is referencing the same URL.
    I don't know if this behaviour is a known bug, but i need an workaround for it. I think the problem is document.forms[x].method='POST'.
    A simple example:
    1. Define your form and some inputs too
    <netui:form action="myAction">2. Define a link to call your action
    <netui:anchor action="myAction" formSubmit="true">3. Make sure that your action will receive a request-scoped Form
    4. Call your .jsp, fill the form inputs and click at the link.
    Surprise: The properties inside your ActionForm are completely blank ! The cause: onClick handler is failing and href is being executed.
    Generated link source code:
    a href="/contextPath/myPageFlow/myAction.do" onclick='anchor_submit_form("Netui_Form_0",
    "/contextPath/myPageFlow/myAction.do");return false;'
    Javascript evil source:
    == Not working version ==
    function anchor_submit_form(netuiName, newAction)
      for (var x=0; x<document.forms.length; x++) {
         if (document.forms[x].id == netuiName) {
            document.forms[x].method = "POST";
            document.forms[x].action = newAction;
            document.forms[x].submit();
    //-->== Working version ==
    function anchor_submit_form2(netuiName, newAction)
      for (var x=0; x<document.forms.length; x++) {
         if (document.forms[x].id == netuiName) {
            var form = document.forms[x];
            //form.method = "POST";
            form.action = newAction;
            form.submit();
    //-->

    Hi Daniel
    When I use netui:anchor with formSubmit=true I always see form method as
    "Post". Do you see the method to be "get" anytime?
    I have again attached my sample as a .txt file. Please save it and rename to
    .zip.
    Let me know how I should change the sample to see the form method as 'Get'

    Hi Vimala.
    Sorry, "MY bad". I'll provide a full explanation about what is
    going on. BTW, i couldn't open the attached file (WinZip is complaining
    about bad format file or something like that).
    The original JavaScript source code was changing form.method from
    get to post. For another different reason, when IE submits
    the form using post, all input were sent as null values. When IE
    submits the form using get (this never happen with OLD JavaScript
    source), input values were correctly sent.
    Initially, Mozilla was failing too with OLD JavaScript source code.
    Browser was complaining about "document.forms[x] has no properties" at
    document.forms[x].submit(). I really don't know why. Maybe, at some
    moment, function anchor_submit_form get been defined multiple times, but i
    couldn't reproduce this error again.
    Mozilla now woks with both form methods: get and post (but
    OLD JavaScript source code is always "forcing" post).
    About IE posting form data: I'm "guessing" that the root cause of this odd
    behaviour is a component that we are using to do NTLM HTTP Authentication.
    When we "disable" this component, IE starts to work again !
    To be fair enough, the component not seems to be the real cause, because
    Mozilla works with this component. Maybe, the evil combination is THE
    cause: IE + form post + NTLM Authentication + Component.
    I'm sorry for MY mystake.
    Can anchor_submit_form do not modify form.method ? I'll fix the other part
    of my problem.
    Thanks !
