Providers in Portal.

Hello friends,
need some help.
We are implementing classic scenario in SRM. Version 713. We are replicating the MM providers.
We are using the SRM to make quotations, and we are not using SUS. I wonder if there is a possibility of direct replication vendor for the Portal (creating contact person), or if we have to do one by one?
Thank's.
Best regards,
Pablo Coelho.

Here are the steps to secure the providers:
login as schema owner
adminstrator tab
portlets tab
click on icon Edit a Provider Registration
select provider like LOGIN SERVER edit
Access Tab
Select the users/groups and the Privileges you wnat to give.
hope this helps

  • How would we hide Providers in Portal 9.0.2 from Users unauhourized to see?

Hi! I am using Oracle 9ias 9.0.2 on Windows 2000 Server. My Portal Version is 9.0.2.2.22
I am interested in knowing how to secure the Portal Repository Providers like "Administration, Database Administration, Monitoring" etc from End Users so that when to want to Customize a Page, they shouldnt see them in the Portlet Repository. (I wonder how my.oracle.com is doing this so effeciently)
    We tried the following.
    1. Revoke all access to Public by going to each page and Access Tab and checked "Specify Access Settings" and Revoking "View" previleges to "PUBLIC". I don't know why Oracle gives View Priveleges to "PUBLIC" in general. Don't they want Portal to be secure "out-of-the-box" or Are they doing some Cookie magic which we don't know of.
    2. Went to Navigator->Portal Repository Page Group-->Edit Root Page-->Edit Page Group Properties-->Configure Tab-->Content and Classification-->Picked Administration, Database Administration and Monitoring and made them "HIDDEN".
    3. Enabled Item Level Security on the Portal Repository Page Group and wanted to Pick "Access Settings on the thing that is showing those Page Display's i.e the "Sub Page Display". But this designed as an Item and Portal Administrators Cannot Pick Security on this Item.
Dont know how to do this in Portal Version 9.0.2.2.22.
Could some body through some light?
    Any help is Greatly Appreciated.
    Thanks

  • Portal with multiple content providers

    Hello,
    Tools 8.52
    App Version 9.1
We have Portal consuming mulitple PS applications like ELM, HCM, CRM.
And we are imporiting the entire registry structure of all the applications.
So we will end up importing PLs, Roles and User Ids.
My question is what will happen if we have same role name or Permission list name in two databases HCM and ELM.
Say the customer defines role saying Manager in HCM and ELM both.
What is the best way to manage such conflicts?
    Thank You.
    Best Regards,
    Ekta

Content references and PLs are copied by Application designer projects from Content Providers to Portal. You could copy Content Reference using Application Designer, but you should me careful when doing this across different applications.
Applications have different parent folders, content reference has permissions that are application specific, which to not have to exist in the target environment.
And especially Portal works different from the other applications.
Portal, said very easily, "has no own application", but is used to link to content references to other applications.
You should really set up Content reference in Portal manually, that's why Unified Navigation was introduced.
Why you should set it up manually and not copy via application designer:
Content reference in for example HCM is usually configured on LOCAL_NODE.
When you copy this across to Portal, Portal will interpret this a link to the Portal application.
This has to be changed in Portal to the local node of HCM, for example PSFT_HR.
Content reference have permissions set, usually deviated from the permission lists on components using the Portal Security Sync process.
Permission to a component is/could be different than permission to the content reference that references the component.
One is, can I see the menu link, other is, do I have access to the page.
And is exactly what you should do with Portal in junction with other PeopleSoft applications.
Portal has only permissionlist to content references (menu links) to components on other Applications nodes.
On the other application permission list on the actual component has to set.
So userprofiles and assigned roles will have to synchronized across applications user the USER_SYNC service.
Roles in Portal and and other applications have to exists, but do not need to have any permissionlists in the Portal environment.
Suppose you have a user in HCM with roles and within the role permissionlist to components.
The same user will be synced to Portal, the user profile will be copied and assigned roles will be copied.
Now Portal needs to have roles/permissionlists to the content references in Portal that link to the HCM component.
These permissionlist in Portal can be other than the ones in HCM.

  • DTD for deployment  xml file for providers

    Hi all,
where can I find the DTD for the deployment file that is to be used in .par file for the custom providers for Portal Server 6.0 and 6.2. ?
    Thanks,
    Klara

in case you mean portlets then it is:
    portlet.xsd contains reference to http://www.w3.org/2001/xml.xsd.
in case you mean providers, e.g. smpleMailservice:
    /ps-base/SUNWam/dtd/sms.dtd
    or
    /ps-base/SUNWam/dtd
    with all the named dtd's

  • Adding calander to a date in Portal

    Hello,
We would like to implement date picker (calander) attached to a date field in Portal 9is ver 1
Can you please point us to the right direction.
    Thanks.

Oracle Portal has a Calendar component (a wizard to build a calendar portlet) under Providers Tab -> Portal DB Providers.

  • Portal Navigator lost Apps portlet in version 3.0.6

Can anyone tell me what the portlet is (or call is) for the application tab within the navigator is for version 3.0.6 as ours seems to have been deleted and now we can't create any applications. Is there a back door call we can make to create apps?
    Thanks

Sorry for the brevity of that last post, I had to step out. You should be able to add the applications tab back by clicking on the Customize link at the top of the navigator page and adding a new tab. Then you can add the "Application Navigator" portlet to this area. It's found in the Portlet Repository: Seeded Providers: Oracle Portal area.

  • Production Portal hangs with timeouts

    Hi all,
Several times during the day the Portal 10.1.4.0.0 hangs with timeouts.
In order to recover, Portal needs to be re-started.
(The timeout also occurred during the time they had a db corruption, but now that corruption has been resolved, the hangs still occur.
After running the SVU in CLEANUP mode, the issue still occurs.
Timeout has been set to well over the default. Stall has been increased also. Neither have helped to resolve the issue.
The java portlets are from a specific OC4J Provider, and all of them are on pages under a Page Group.
These portlets reads (also trough views) data on portal schema in order to create the "style" and css of the portal pages. All of the database statements are select, exception of rare insert operation on a table of their custom schema.
    User load:
The access statistics indicates that about 800 users access this site in 1 hour.
The more high user access in one hour was 1100 users.
The concurrent user access are about 500.
    Thanks for any help.

    Hello Helenna,
In this particular case, the PPE timeout settings are set to very high values causing exhaustion of fetcher threads in the PPE fetcher thread pool :
    <servlet>
       <servlet-name>page</servlet-name>
       <servlet-class>oracle.webdb.page.ParallelServlet</servlet-class>
       <init-param>
    <param-name>requesttime</param-name>
    <param-value>120</param-value>
       </init-param>
       <init-param>
           <param-name>minTimeout</param-name>
           <param-value>180</param-value>
       </init-param>
       <init-param>
           <param-name>stall</param-name>
           <param-value>200</param-value>
</init-param> This should be the action plan for you :
    >
As you already pointed out, the portal seems to become unresponsive because the Edison provider is not responding fast enough to requests from the Portal framework. Oracle Portal should be able to recover from thi in normal cases. Unfortunately the configuration settings in the Portal were changed from the default values making it almost impossible for the framework to recover from the error. To understand this, we will need to go through the theory :
The Oracle Portal framework collects information from various sources and assembles these to web pages which are then sent to the end users internet browser. Providers are one source of information. To retrieve the information from providers, Oracle Portal allocates a so-called fetcher thread in OC4J_Portal. This fetcher thread will create a session with the (remote) provider and fetch the content, similar to how a web browser would contact a web server to retrieve an HTML page. It is important to note that Oracle Portal allocates a fetcher thread for each portlet on a page. For a page with five portlets, five fetcher threads are allocated as the content is fetched in parallel.
In a default configuration with only one OC4J_Portal process, the number of fetcher threads is limited to 25. With five portlets on a page, the Portal will be able to serve up to five requests simultaneously before the pool of fetcher threads gets exhausted. This is normally not a problem because the fetcher threads are allocated for just a few seconds normally. Once they have received the response from the provider, they are returned to the pool and will be available to the Portal again.
The problems start when the provider's response becomes sluggish. The fetcher thread is not returned to the pool immediately. The requests start to queue up until the system doesn't have any fetcher threads available anymore. Once there are no fetcher threads available, the Portal will wait for a new fetcher thread for a certain period of time (as specified by the queueTimeout). After expiration of this queue timeout, the Portal will return an error to the Oracle HTTP Server. This is when end users will start to experience errors in the pages.
To keep the Portal alive and healthy, administrators should take care that the fetcher threads pool doesn't get exhausted. Obviously the best way to do this is to ensure that all providers respond in a reasonable amount of time. If there is no control on the response times of the providers, administrators can use the timeouts in the framework to assure that long running requests are killed off by the framework to assure that the fetcher threads are returned to the pool again. These parameters are configured in the web.xml from the application portal in the OC4J container called OC4J_Portal. Obviously users will see timeout errors for particular portlets on certain pages but the overall framework will be available. In addition, administrators can decide to increase the number of fetcher threads by starting more than one OC4J_Portal process. Each additional process will increase the amount of fetcher threads with 25. There is a memory penalty for this however as each process can consume between 256 - 512 Mb of memory. Administrators should only increase the amount of processes when they have checked that the Portal midtier system has enough free memory available to accommodate for these additional processes.
    Action plan :
    1. Change the timeout values for the Portal framework to the default values :
    a. Navigate to $ORACLE_HOME/j2ee/OC4J_Portal/applications/portal/portal/WEB-INF
    b. Copy the web.xml :
    % cp web.xml web.xml_23MAR2010
    c. Edit the web.xml :
For both the RepositoryServlet and the PortalServlet, remove the STALL timeout
For the page servlet, remove the requesttime, minTimeout, stall and queueTimeout parameters
    2. Increase the number of OC4J_Portal processes from 1 to 4 :
    a. Create a copy of the file $ORACLE_HOME/opmn/conf/opmn.xml :
    % cp opmn.xml opmn.xml_23MAR2010
    b. Open the file opmn.xml
    c. Locate the following section :
    <process-type id="OC4J_Portal" module-id="OC4J">
    d. Within the section for the process OC4J_Portal, change the following line :
    <process-set id="default_island" numprocs="1"/>
    to
    <process-set id="default_island" numprocs="4"/>
    3. Synchronize the DCM repository :
    % $ORACLE_HOME/dcm/bin/dcmctl updateconfig
    4. Restart the midtier processes
    % $ORACLE_HOME/opmn/bin/opmnctl stopall
    % $ORACLE_HOME/opmn/bin/opmnctl startall
    4. Check whether the changes have are in effect :
    a. Number of OC4J_Portal processes :
Run opmnctl status and count the number of OC4J_Portal processes. You should see four of them.
    b. Timeout parameters in OC4J_Portal
Open the file $ORACLE_HOME/j2ee/OC4J_Portal/application-deployments/portal/OC4J_Portal_default_island_1/application.log and check for the following line at the end of the file :
    10/03/08 06:32:32 portal: PPE version : 10.1.2.0.2 (29022008)
    10/03/08 06:32:32 portal: Tuning parameter values : poolSize(Fetchers)=25[default=25] : minTimeout(MinTimeout)=5s[default=5s] : requesttime(DefaultTimeout)=15s[default=15s] : stall(MaxTimeout)=65s[default=65s] :
    queueTimeout(QueueTimeout)=10s[default=10s] maxParallelPortlets=20[default=20] maxParallelPagePortlets=10[default=10]

  • Import in 9.0.4.3 : Precheck Fails

I recently upgraded from Portal 9.0.4.1 to 9.0.4.3. Before, I could successfully do transport sets to move Pagegroups and Providers from portal to portal. Now, in the new version I get Pagegroup Precheck failed for no particular reason that I can determine when I try to import. I believe that I must be running into export/import bugs which seem to have infested every version of Portal.
All previous version of Portal had a schema validation utility (SVU) for finding and cleaning out old, failed imports and Consolidated Export/Imports Patchset described in the Export/Import Master Note. Neither SVU or the patchset seems to exist for 9.0.4.3.
Has anyone successfully done export/imports in 9.0.4.3? If not will a 9.0.4.3 compatible SVU and export/import patchset be available?
    Thanks.
    Trenton

    Hi Trenton,
It is strange that your precheck is failing but it can be due to inumerous things. I'm not sure whether it is due to not being available a new SVU or a Portal Export / Import patchset. I believe not. I've done already a few successful Portal exports / imports in Portal 9.0.4.3. Of course, in later versions of the Portal you'll see quite many neat features coming in (like the SVUs are run as part of the Portal Export / Import).
What I recommend you is to log a Service Request within the Oracle Support and ask them to peek into your testcase. Also I'd supply them the browser Export / Import logs, (with mode=1 - detailed logging) to check on the error and type of object which is failing, and the script and DMP for them to check if they are able to have the same issue (in a clean environment and / or reproduce your problem).
I hope it helps you further...
    Cheers,
    Pedro.

  • HTTP 404 when accessing procedure on PLSQL

    Hi!
I am going to install some PLSQL procedures on my Oracle 9ias

configure a new dad. Then I write this URL in my browser:
    http://<machine_name>:<port>/pls/<dad_name>/<package.procedure>
    and I obtain a 404 error
Should I do any additional step?? I have successfully configured
PLSQL providers on Portal, but clearly this is not the same case

Hi, I did write the same url but it did not work and to my
knowledge this 'pls' is a virtual directory and should be
defined in httpd.conf file but i do not know exact path
for 'pls' and then 'dad' also seems to be virtual directory.
Does any body have any idea how to check whether portal
    configuration was successful or not.

  • FPN Pros & Cons

    Hi All,
What are the Pros and Cons of federated portal?
How the federated portal useful with respect to BI content in the landscape?
What are the different scenarios FPN would be implemented?
Could you please send the exact details for the above then it would be greatful
    Thanks,
    SAPUser

    Hi,
There are a few advantages of using FPN - eliminating data redundancy by reusing portal content & eliminating data migration from one portal to the other. More over there is existence of separate portals makes the task of maintaining the portals simpler.
The two scenarios in which FPN can be implemented are as follows:
    ●      Content federation: One portal functions as the logon portal for all users and the remaining portals function as content providers.
    ●      Portal federation: Each portal installation can function as an autonomous entity serving its own content and users, but also exposing and consuming content to and from other portals in the federation.
There are various ways in which content can be content can be reused in an FPN scenario.
    1. Remote Role Assignment
    2. Remote Delta Links
    3. Remote Application Integration
    4. WSRP Application Sharing
For BI report integration, you can leverage the Remote Application sharing feature of FPM. It offers means to run applications/reports only on the producer portal without creating any portal content there. All portal content creation and maintenance can be done through the consumer portal with an iView wizard offered in Portal Content Studio.
For more info on FPN, you can go through these links

  • Errors with with portal providers after upgrading database to 10.2.0.3

    Hello,
We are receiving errors when trying to do anything with providers that we have created in Portal. The problems have started after upgrading the underlying database from 10.1.0.4 to 10.2.0.3 on RH Linux 3.0. Our version of Portal is 10.1.2.0.1 and is running on SUSE 9.
If we try to select the 'Actions' button for any of the portlets that include custom providers, we get the following errors:
    Internal error (WWC-00006)
An unexpected error occurred: User-Defined Exception (WWC-43000)
An unexpected error occurred: User-Defined Exception (WWC-43000)
The provider URL specified may be wrong or the provider is not running. (WWC-43176)
Likewise, if we try to deregister/reregister one of the providers, it asks us the following questions:
    1. Do you want to deregister provider "Provider Name"?
Deregistering a provider removes it from the system. All usages of portlets from that provider will be deleted.
    ********We answer 'Yes' to this
    2. The provider could not be contacted, do you still want to delete provider "Provider Name"?
The provider could not be contacted and its deregistration function was not initiated. Deleting the provider will remove it from the portal. Additional action may be necessary by the provider to remedy the failure to call its deregistration function.
********Again we answer 'Yes' to this. After answering yes, we get the following error:
    Internal error (WWC-00006)
Unexpected error - ORA-04091: table PORTAL.WWPRO_PORTLET_METADATA$ is mutating, trigger/function may not see it
    ORA-06512: at "PORTAL.WWUTL_EVENT", line 173

ORA-04088: error during execution of trigger 'PORTAL.WWPRO_PMR_NLS_EVENT_TRG' (WWC-35000)
All of the providers (4 of them) we have manually added (not seeded) receive the above errors, however 3 out of the 4 seem to function fine in the portal (if we don't try to modify). The fourth calls an external e-mail application, and this is not working.
The database upgrade has seemed to cause this issue, but I'm not sure why. Do we need to somehow upgrade these providers? Any help would be appreciated!
