PSA Deletion problem

Hi All,
We are trying to delete the PSA requests by manually but when we go to few PSA tables there we are not able to delete the requests from the Data Source.
The PSA Table name is also like this /BIC/B0000535001.
When I try to delete the one request from the PSA its throwing error as RSDU_TABLE_DROP_PARTITION_MSS Error while creating the clone table /BIC/B0000535001
Can we know what the clone table and How to solve this issue ASAP.
Thanks
Sravani

Hi Sravani,
Please try the below things, hope this may solve ur problm.
There are two main steps you must perform:
(1) fix the reason why the table drop fails and then
(2) remove the shadow tables so processing can continue.
To determine why the partition drop failed, we recommend checking:
1. The SQL Server Error Log - this will tell you if the transaction log ran out of space.  The log can be seen via SQL Server tools or transactions ST04/DBACOCKPIT.
2. The Blocking Lock Monitor - as long as you have the monitor job active, this transaction will show if there is blocking occurring.  This monitor is in transactions ST04/DBACOCKPIT.
3. The Deadlock Monitor - will show if there was a deadlock at the time of the partition drop. This monitor is in transactions ST04/DBACOCKPIT.
After you have determined the root cause, you must correct it before removing the shadow tables.  If the log ran out of space then you must move it to a drive with enough space or add another log file on a different drive with enough space.  If the root cause is blocking or deadlocks then first search SAP Notes for known solutions or, secondly, open a customer message in BC-SYS-DB-MSS if you need help.  In all other cases, open a BC-SYS-DB-MSS customer message so the development support team can assist you in finding the cause.
After you have corrected the root cause, you must remove the shadow tables.  You can do this with the latest version of the SAP ABAP program RSDD_MSSQL_CUBEANALYZE (install the latest version which is attached to SAP Note 991014).  After the program is installed, execute it with SE38 and choose Settings -> Expert Mode.  Acknowledge the warning, press the Detail button under the Determine All Shadow Objects item and press Start Check.  Then select each shadow table and press Delete Clone Table.
For more information regarding SAP BW's use of SQL Server table partitioning, read the white paper titled "Table Partitioning in SAP BI on Microsoft® SQL Server# 2005/2008".  The paper is currently available for download at:

  • Problem with PSA deletion

    Hi All,
My requirement is to delete all PSA requests everyday before daily loads. For this i have created a PC with PSA deletion variant with the followng settings - data-source = 0CO_PC_02, source system = *, older than = 0 days, all requests (red and green). When the variant is run no requests are deleted, even if there are requests meeting the above conditions. Logs of the variant do not show any requests.  When i delete the requests manually from the Data-Source overview screen the requests are deleted but i can still see the request in the PSA table (se16). What could be the reason. The scenario works fine for other data-sources and variants with identical settings. Thanks.
    Regards,
    Saurabh Diwakar

    Hi,
Please specify only these three things nothing else . This should do the job for you .
    Data Source name
exact Name of the Source System with client Name
    In older than put 0.

  • PSA Deletion Issue from the Process Chain

    Hi,
I am facing problem in PSA Deletion from the chain. Scenario and issue as follow:
    Scenario:
I have a PSA deletion Chain which got trigger daily. Which contains the many "Deletion of Requests from PSA" step. Datasources in the steps are from 3 different source system. Previously all are working fine.  I am using 7.1 version.
    Issue:
    1. All PSA Deletion step working fine except the BW source system Datasources.
    2. Few of the Datasources from BW source system are working fine(i.e, deleting the requests as per the condition given in the step.) and few are not(i.e, it does not pick up any request for deletion, but it have to delete some requests as per the conditions.).
All the PSA deletion steps are  turns to green when chain executed.Few of them is not working from august and few are from the october(i.e, Not any specific date)
Please suggest me the solution for above issue.
    Thanks in Advance.
    Himanshu.

    Hi ,
Goto display/maintain  variant of the PSA deletion step and compare conditions of  the Infopackages which delete data successfully with those which do not .
The condition given for the info-package whose data is not deleted from PSA , is not being satisfied that might be the reason the request is not deleted from the infopackage.

  • PSA deletion in delta

Rohit pls let me know on this.
If I delete the PSA in delta load on ODS will it be any impact. Will the load get failed If I delete the delta PSA(ODS).
Message was edited by: Tamkris Taj

    Hi Tamkris,
Is it like only rohit needs to update on this or shall i go forward?
Once you have loaded the ODS, the PSA deletion should not create any problems. only incase you want to reconstruct some request, then it will be not possible as the records will not be available in PSA.

  • H how to find  if the psa table is included in psa deletion process chain

    Hi all
    can anybody tell me .
I have a psa table it's technical name is /BIC/B*
h how to find  the  above psa table is included in psa deletion process chain or not
    please help me

    Hi
Ope the PC in RSPC1 -->go to planning view of process chain
in left side you will find different types of process types.
under other BW process types folder -->you will find process type "Delete request from PSA"
drag this into your process chain planning view and customize it based on your requirements.
check the below article for step by step procedure

  • Two Related (?) file deleting problems in Finder and Time Machnine

My internal drive is partition into two volumes. In the second one (the "non-boot" one), I was have trouble putting files in the trash that were locked. As I was tracking that down I coincidentally(?) started having another problem.
I started getting a message that the files being put into the trash must be deleted immediately. I check permissions and I had read/write Privileges in the user account I'm normally logged into. However, If I logged into my administrator account, I could put things in the trash without deleting them. I noticed that ignore ownerships wasn't checked, so I checked that.
That allowed my to put files into the trash without immediately deleting them. I went ahead and deleted the files I wanted to get rid of. However, I'm wondering if there was another issue because I am lead to understand that the ownership privileges shouldn't have necessitated checking "ignore ownerships"?
Also, I had trouble deleting the backups of those files and folders in time machine. I can delete most of it. But for one folder (and all the folders in which it resides in the hierarchy) I can't deleted it. I tell it to delete backups of that folder (or folders it is in), I put in the password, and goes "ding". But nothing disappears...
(After I wrote this, I tried unchecking "ignore ownerships" and the problem did not reappear. I can still put files in the trash without the immediate deletion problem.)

Are you doing that via the Finder or Terminal? If so, that's not the way to delete backups. See #12 in [Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions|http://web.me.com/pondini/Time_Machine/FAQ.html] (or use the link in *User Tips* at the top of the +Time Machine+ forum).
And now I'm getting an error in time machine. "Files can't be copied onto the backup disk because it appears to be "read only"". I do get info on the disk, and my account has Read & Write privleges, but it say "You can only read" above that".
The Finder or Terminal deletions may have corrupted your backups. Repair them, per #A5 in [Time Machine - Troubleshooting|http://web.me.com/pondini/Time_Machine/Troubleshooting.html] (or use the link in *User Tips* at the top of the +Time Machine+ forum).

I'm doing the deletion through Time Machine (I go into Time Machine, find the folder in the backup, and ask Time machine to delete all backups of that folder).
I did find the tip of unmounting the disk, rebooting, and remounting it. That Stopped messages about the disk being read only. However, the folder still doesn't delete. I'm also a bit worried about these being symptoms of some other problem...

  • /BIC/ namespace not modifiable, can't create PSA delete variant in process

    Hello,
When I attempt to create a PSA delete process in a process chain, I get an error message as such:
Namespace '/BIC/' must be set to 'changeable' (transaction SE06)
    Message no. R7063
I have had Basis dot his for me before and it worked, but it takes a lot of change menagement to do this.  I have asked Basis to leave it modifiable in SE06, but they will not.  Is that the only way to be able to create PSA process variants is to have Basis use SE06?  I looked in Object Changeability, but nothing stuck out.  I should not have to have Basis do this task every time.  Please let me know if there is a better way.
    Thank you.
    Brent

    Hi Brent
I believe /BIC/ namespace should remain modifiable where you are creating PSA deletion process.
You can check if that is the case in your system.
Check in TRNSPACE table with namespace /BIC/  .. changagle flag should be X. I think it should be in your production also

  • PSA deletion -clarification regarding QM status

    Hi Guru's
We r on BI 7.0 SP13. We are loading HR data with full loads via infopackages to PSA and subsequently from PSA to infocubes via DTP. We have configured a process chain to delete the PSA requests which are 1 day old in order to make sure that we do  not have duplicate records uploaded via DTP from PSA to infocube.
The setting on the PSA deletion is to delete requests that are 1 day old and only sucessfully booked requests/updated in data targets. If we maintain this setting system is not deleting the PSA requests which are more than i day old. but if i remove the checkbox for "only successfully booked requests" system deletes all requests which are more than 1 day old.
When i checked the status of the requests, it has a "green" color for technical status and the radio button " back to technical status" is selected. My question is Does the system check if these PSA requests are having QM status is green before deleting them if we select "only sucessfully booked requests"? if yes how to set the QM status as green automatically in the requests that are only loaded to PSA?
i also verified  the table RSREQDONE in order to check if these PSA requests are having "QM status fields" populated. only technical status were green for these and the QM status fields were not populated.
I want to get a clarification whether these requests that load to" PSA only" are supposed to have a QM status or they are supposed to have only the technical status? if they are suppose to have a QM status , then how to set it automatically ?
    thanks

    Hi Anil,
<i>Full Upload Request</i> does not concern any DELTAs whatsoever. Just populate the SETUP Tables in R/3, give parameters (if any) and load, thats it. Thats why you dont need to switch previous request to RED because a FULL Request does not care on the status of the last update.
<b>DELTA Update Request</b> is different. The system needs to know if the last DELTA extraction was a failure or success. It needs this info so that the system will know if it will request for a new fresh batch of updates (<b>DELTAS/Changes</b>) or <b>RESEND</b> <i>previous batch</i> of updates (<b>DELTAS/CHANGES</b>) in case the previous DELTA Update is a <b>failure</b>...
Hope I have helped. If i did, please grant points...

  • PSA deletion

    Hi Expert,
I have an issue with PSA deletion. There is one PSA table which is already included in the PSA deletion chain. we have checked this PSA deletion step and it is working fine. when i go to manage option of data source , I find only seven requests  as per my expectation.
Whereas Early watch report says this PSA has consumed 400 GB. This figure is constant from last one year.I have checked with Basis guy and they said they cannot do repartitioning.
Only option I have to truncate this table at OS level.
Does anyone know any other option which can be used to free this big chunk of DB space?

    Hello Dhiraj
    things I would do here.
    1. Consistency check of PSA via RSRV
    2. Check the PSA table name from Manage screen and then try to see what is the  exact amount of space it is taking from DB02.
    3. If you are on oracle you can check what is the space actually required versus what is the space this table is taking. You  can get this information from early watch report ( based on your ST-PI version) or you can run a script to check that.
If you find actual space required is much less than what it is consuming right now you can go for re-organization.
Please note single table reorganization is possible via brconnect and that can be done online
    4. If nothing works last option is to truncate the table ( based on your business requirement obviously ). You or your Basis team member can do it even from SE14. I do not find any need to waste 400 GB of space for one PSA.

  • PSA Deletion variant in Process chain

When I add more than one PSA tables in one process step of Process chain would the deletion happen sequentially or parallelly?
In other words, if I have some 20 PSA tables to be deleted, can I put all of them in one step or should I put them in different steps - some 4 or 5 steps - to reduce load on system? (I need to keep only 2 days data in each table).

    Hi,
it will happen sequentially. You can put them in one process step.
However, I recommend to include the PSA deletion systematically in each corresponding chain since you can control it and monitor it better.
    hope this helps...
    Olivier.

  • PSA Deletion through Process Chain

    Hi Experts,
Currently I am working on the BW3.5 version. I would like to delete the old PSA req through Process Chain. I need some clarification. Please provide me your suggestions.  Thanks in advance.
1)In SAP-BW 3.5 version, there is only one process type u2018Deleting Requests from the PSAu2019 is available to do this activity. This process type can delete the requests from the PSA only or Will it delete PSA and Change Log tables!!!!! In the SDN threads, some people said it delete the PSA requests only and some said  it delete the PSA requests as well as Change Log.
2)Currently we are having six process chain and each has master & transaction data load(Data load through PSA).
Similarly I am planning to create six PSA deletion process chain which includes master & transaction data deletion. Here I am got little complication on finding Object Name(PSA Table Name). Please refer the screen shot.Is there any short cut to find full list of Object Name(PSA Table) which is currently available in the Process chain every day load.
3)On the request selection, i prefer "Only sucessfully booked/updated req.". I did not select"Only those req with errors, that are not booked in a data target". Please share your view on this selection preference.

    Hi Murali,
Thanks for the response. I do understand about the identifying the data source & PSA retention period(days). Let me elaborate my question little more. Thanks.
1)In SAP-BW 3.5 version, there is only one process type u2018Deleting Requests from the PSAu2019 is available to do this activity. This process type can delete the requests from the PSA only or Will it delete PSA and Change Log tables!!!!! In the SDN threads, some people said it delete the PSA requests only and some said it delete the PSA requests as well as Change Log.If i am not mistaken, In BW 3.5 PSA deletion will leads through Change Log also.Am i right?
2)Currently we are having six process chain and each has master & transaction data load(Data load through PSA).
Similarly I am planning to create six PSA deletion process chain which includes master & transaction data deletion. Here I am got little complication on finding Object Name(PSA Table Name). Please refer the screen shot.Is there any short cut to find full list of Object Name(PSA Table) which is currently available in the Process chain every day load.In the very day process chain, we are having many stages in master & transaction load. So I can go through info pkg level and find the data source, then i can identify the PSA table name. But is there any other simplest way to find the PSA table name.
    http://img818.imageshack.us/img818/3963/psa1.jpg
3)On the request selection, i prefer "Only sucessfully booked/updated req.". I did not select"Only those req with errors, that are not booked in a data target". Please share your view on this selection preference. May i know that which option is optimal on normal business process. If i did not select both options, then will that delete all the request in PSA!!!
    Thanks.
    RR.

  • Process Chans:PSA Deletion

    Hello Experts,
We are using a number of process chains (for transactional data).
Is it better to have a seperate process chain which performs the PSA deletion for all PSA tables? or is it better to include PSA deletion node seperately in respective process chains?
    Please advice.
    Regards,
    LM.

    Hi,
Its like PSA (persistent Storage area) since its a mandatory in Bi 7.0  so its loade too frequently, as a matter of fact it becomes too clumsy over the time, as a result it takes a whole lot of time to get deleted ,
including the deletion step in a Process chain will expand the running time to indefinite so its better to keep it as a seperate chain.
Hope this will suffice your concern
