Well, if you're still having problems, then one of three things is likely going on:
The installation of Photoshop Elements is messed up.
Your files are damaged or the Organizer has some kind of problem with them.
OR
The Organizer has some kind of problem with the location of your images.
So, I'd recommend that you start off by removing Photoshop Elements by following this document:
http://go.adobe.com/kb/ts_kb408483_en-us (For Vista, see this document instead: http://go.adobe.com/kb/ts_kb406487_en-us)
Then, re-install, but do it by following solution 14 in this document:
http://go.adobe.com/kb/ts_kb406559_en-us (For Vista, see solution 15 in this document instead: http://go.adobe.com/kb/ts_kb406560_en-us)
If it still won't import, then it's the files or their location. So, tell us more about the file names, and the complete location (the drive and full folder path) and hopefully we can help you find out what's wrong with this part.

  • PSE 9 Organizer Unable to Import from iPhoto '11

When I try to import pictures from iPhoto '11 using the PSE 9 Organizer, I get the following message:
There is no media to import from iPhoto
I wonder if Adobe has not yet caught up with iPhoto '11 that came with recently introduced iLife '11. The iPhoto '09 catalog was converted in some way when I ran iPhoto '11 for the first time.
Anyone else having this problem or come up with a solution?

If you go to export in IPhoto 11, IPhoto 11 is not listed  in applications while IPhoto 9 is listed but there is no way to export photos using this or items associated with it.
Don't understand this, or did you mean in the options for External Editor rather than Export? If so, there should be Other at the bottom of the window. Navigate to the actual PSE 9 editor application, which is the first of the two files in the PSE 9 folder that has a blue square for an icon. You want the square without the version number in the file name, and without the little curved black alias arrow on it.
If you mean you want to put the photos into the Organizer, you select the photos you want to export, go to File> Export, then put the exported photos where you want and use File>Get Photos>From Files and Folders in the Organizer.

  • PSE 9 organizer crashed when importing large # photos

I am attempting to import all of my photos, from "My Pictures" in multiple sub-directories.  PSE counts them and indicates there are over 18,000.  The import starts, but then it and the whole program crashes at about photo number 3,900.
Attempting to import a smaller number, about 5000 in one of the larger subfolders, does not address the issue... the same thing happens.
Trying to import a small sub-folder (second sub level), which might have only 100-200 photos, does not crash.
It would be extremely time consuming to have to select each low-level sub-folder individually!
Is there a way to increase the top end limit.
WHY IS THERE A LIMIT AT ALL?
    PROGRAM SHOULD NOT CRASH.
I have Windows 7 with all the updates, all updated drivers, etc.

Navigate to My Pictures and press Ctrl+A to select all.
Then Ctrl+Click to deselect any folder known to contain really large files e.g raw images and video files. These are most likely to cause difficulties, using up vast amounts of RAM.
This should result in a greater chance of success.
After importing the bulk of your folder you can deal with the deselected folders separately.

  • PSE 6: Organizer won't import ANYTHING...plz help me

The problem is pretty much what the title of my post is. I installed, uninstalled, and reinstalled Photoshop Elements 6 and whether I try to "Get" photos via folders or single images, I get these two errors. I will add the screen captures of the two windows I get when I try to "Get Photos"
Let me know if you can't see the pictures, please. Keep in mind two things. One, I tried it with the monitoring folders option on AND off. Two, even when I just only have the monitor folder option on and don't try to import any, it still doesn't import them on it's own.

PSE 10 organizer now displays SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES as the title for every imported image.  This is very annoying.   How to I prevent PSE from assigning this attribute to the title metadata upon import?   I have thousands of photos, and going through each one to delete the title isn't really an option.   Has anyone encountered this type of behavoir?
Windows 7 pro, if that matters.

It's an old behaviour from some camera manufacturers (also Olympus...) which write their brand name in the exif field reserved to captions:

  • Unable to import into PSE 7 Organizer

I've got PSE 7 on a Windows XP- "Fusion" partioned drive running on a Mac OS 10.5. The editor of PSE 7 will open these images from a shared file, but the organizer will not import them from that same shared file. I’ve tried to import into organizers of versions 5 and 6 with no problem. Is there a solution  or workaround for this problem? ps The organizer will import if I copy the files from Mac into XP, but I don't have the space on the Windows partition for 70G + of images.

A couple of others have reported issues running PSE on a Mac virtual machine.  It appears there may be incompatibilities somewhere between Mac, the WIndows virtual machine, and PSE.  See this thread in particular:
    http://74.125.113.132/search?q=cache:YFm4lVWRHUQJ:www.adobeforums.com/webx%3F14%40%40.59b6 aaf4/1+Phillip+Ushijima+site:adobeforums.com&cd=2&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us
(Unfortunately, I'm not able to find it in the new forums -- the indexing of archived messages doesn't appear to work very well.)
This person seemed to have a similar issue: PSE on a Mac virtual machine can't access a native Mac volume.  HIs solution was to export the Mac volume as a network drive (using SMB) and then access it from the Windows virtual machine.   Maybe that approach would work for you.  (Ignore all the stuff about converting his database.)

Windoof zeigt dann alle Dateien -1 h an.

  • Unable to view recent photos on my Mac in PSE 11 organizer

unable to view recent photos on my Mac in PSE 11 organizer ..I see them in Iphoto not organizer..Please help

On import, iPhoto copies photos into its library, which is proprietary to itself and should never be poked and prodded from outside iphoto or you run a strong risk of corrupting the library and losing your photos. So you eventually need to choose between iphoto and organizer.
If you want to use iphoto, then you have two choices:
    1. Set PSE as your external editor and send the photos from iphoto to PSE, edit them, then save without changing the name or format (you may need to adjust the pse preferences>saving files>on first save), and iphoto will remember your last edits and the orginal. However, you must to lose the edited version to use the original again, and this method doesn't work well with raw files.
    2. Export the photos from iphoto to the desktop, user File>Open in the editor,  edit the photos, make all the changes to name and format that you like, save the photos and import them back to iphoto as new files.
Or if you decide you prefer organizer, set the this iphoto preference to No Application and you can call up the photo downloader from within organizer, or just drag the photo with the images in it from the card to wherever you want to keept them:
and of course you don't need to user either iphoto or organizer unless you want.

  • Image Meta Data in the PSE 10 Organizer

Is is possible to get image meta data from an photo in the PSE 10 organizer or the full edit histogram?  I thought is was but can't find where to check that option in the organizer.  Otherwise, I have to write the image numbers down and put the card back in into my Canon and get the data.
    Thanks,
    Mike

Open the file in the Editor, then use File...File Info to open the metadata viewing window.  At the bottom, click the down arrow next to the "Import" button to get the "Export" option.

  • Moving PSE 10 organizer to PSE 11 organizer

I have been using PSE since PSE 7-I purchased 7, 10, and 11.  I am seriously looking for a better organizer solution.
My two catalogs worked fantastically well in the PSE 10 organizer - one click and just what I was looking for popped up.  Not now!  I am SOOOO done!
I repaired and optimized in PSE 10 - multiple times and still both catalogs (one with photos and one with digital scrapbooking supplies) refuse to convert properly.  The photo catalog did not convert many of my pictures and many are no longer tagged, along with missing tags.  The scrapbook catalog converted the Alaphabet folder and that's it and again, missing tags.
Searching the boards has been useless!
Any sane help would be greatly appreciated.
    Debora

    Hi,
There's no such bug. I mean navigation between files is the most operation one would do, how can that be buggy
You can double click an image to view it in Single Image View and use keyboard arrow keys to navigate left/right/up/down. Also double clicking an image which is fully zoomed out takes you back to previous zoom-in state where all thumbnails were visible.
You may also  try other views to arrange you media in grid - Thumbnails, Import Batch, Date View, Folder Location. These are available in 'Display' dropdown present on the top right corner of the application.
    Thanks

  • PSE 5 organizer converted to LR

Although there has been discussion about this, I can't find an answer.
I am a pse 5 user and am thinking about buying lr. Can I convert my organizer to the LR organizer with minimal hassle?
Am I better off keeping the pse5 organizer or better off using the lr organizer?
Is there a simple answer for these questions?
    Andy

I'd put it this way - Lr is designed to tightly integrate the library into the other modules. If you are using PSE as an organizer, you're *still* going to be importing images into Lr and dealing with the Library module to some extent.
Reversing it, if you organize in Lr, you can still use PSE as an editor but avoid PSE's organizer altogether. You'll get the full benefit of Virtual Copies as well. All of this would, at least, provide a cleaner workflow. Unless there is a PSE Organizer feature that is so compelling you'd have to have it, therefore I'd suggest using Lr as your organizer.
But it's your call, so it may be best to spend a few days trying it both ways and figuring out your preference before getting into major work with Lr.

  • PSE 10 Organizer vs. Lightroom 4 vs. iPhoto vs. Aperture vs. King Kong

Sorry about the King Kong deal. Got carried away.
    1. How does the new PSE 10 Organizer compare to Lightroom 4? I have had issues in the past with the PSE Organizer, so much so that I have always abandoned it. On the other hand, I have never been disappointed by the PSE Editor. It is by far my pixel editor of choice.
With that in mind, I plan to continue to use PSE10 as my primary editor. How well does it integrate into Lightroom?
    2. Versions/Stacks - (Still waiting for the download of the trial...) Do I understand correctly that PSE10 creates new files and stacks them automatically as version when editing? The way it makes it sound, every time I press Ctrl-s (Cmd-s), PSE saves the file as a version in a stack. I love this idea. Do I understand this correctly?
    3. Reference 2 above -- what does this mean when I use PSE as an external editor in Lightroom or iPhoto? (Do these programs that fire up PSE understand these version?)
    4. Those databases. Does PSE keep any edit info in databases? I'd rather have 10 versions of one image, than 1 version and the other 9 stored in a database of adjustments. (I've lost too many databases. Lose one file, lose a million edits/adjustments.)
    5. Cross-platform support. I know PSE comes in Mac/Win versions. But can I now have one set of data on a server and access it from both the PC and Mac?
    Thanks in advance,
    -Jack

      1. Lightroom integrates well with the PSE editor. In fact it will be automatically recognized as an external editor if you install Lightroom. It’s much more stable and powerful than organizer and you can search virtually any metadata field. The main benefits of LR4 derive from its CS6 raw engine although it will also process jpegs and other formats on a non destructive basis.
    2. Cmd+S normally overwrites the file. Use Save As if you want to add to a set.
    3. Lightroom let’s you make virtual copies so you only have one file on the hard drive, except when you do further editing in Elements, when Lightroom makes an export copy and a thumbnail in its library.
    4. Elements does not keep any edit information in it‘s database.
    5. You can keep image files on external storage, but the application needs to be on the main machine. Be aware that Windows and MacOSX will use different file paths so it will take some effort to keep things synchronized. Many people use a laptop when traveling but then import their work to a main catalog.

  • PSE 8 Organizer take 60+ seconds per task

Most everything I do in the PSE 8 Organizer seems to take 60+ seconds to complete.
When I move a tag from one sub-category to another, 60+ seconds.
When I delete a picture from the catalog, 60+ seconds.
When I add a new face tag in a photo, 60+ seconds.
It doesn't seem to matter if I have 940 photos or 140 photos in the catalog.
What is PSE looking for with each task it does?
The only error indication I get is a 'dunk' sound when the Organizer starts up,
(like the sound you get when you click on something you shouldn't click on),
but no error dialog or warning shows up.
    Any ideas?

John, I have a total of seven people tags and thanks for the advice.  It's not a keyword tag issue.
But, hallelujah, I have found the problem!  It's the 'Folder Location View'.  Stay out of it!  It turns a face tagging from a half second task to a 65 second task.  It appears that, when in the Folder Location View, after you complete a task like face tagging PSE will then go off and re-read (for 65 seconds) all your Windows folders and regenerate the folder view.  When you switch to the Thumbnail View and do the face tag then PSE comes right back immediately.  I was able to recreate this scenario several times.  Each task I did in Folder Location View took 65 seconds or more.  The same task in Thumbnail View takes half a second tops.

  • Suggestions for PSE 11 Organizer

Greetings from a new member. Not sure how to post some usability suggestions for PSE 11 Organizer, but here goes... I realize others have already posted similar comments, which triggered further discussions. However, my intent is just to bring these simple, but to me important, suggestions to the attention of the developers of PSE 11.
I have used PSE on Windows XP starting with PSE 4, then PSE 7, and very recently PSE 11. Earlier this year, I switched to a Mac OS X system and transferred my photos and PSE 11 catalog to PSE 11 on the Mac. I followed the backup/restore instructions on the PSE support site and am mostly quite happy with the results. However, I’m disappointed that the following usability features of PSE 7 organizer are missing in PSE 11 organizer (on both Windows and OS X). Note that I plan to use PSE on OS X exclusively from now on.
In PSE 7, when right clicking on one or more selected photos, the popup menu listed “View photos in full screen”, but it no longer does so in PSE 11. Although Full Screen is available on the View menu, having it on the popup would be even more useful.
In both PSE 7 and PSE 11, that same right-click popup menu lets you REMOVE selected photos from an album. It would be great if the popup menu would also let you ADD selected photos to an existing album.
In PSE 7, I could display the album list simultaneously with folder hierarchy/tree view (there was no folder list view in PSE 7). In PSE 11, the album list is visible only with folder list view. This makes it impossible to drag photos to an album from folder hierarchy view. Please fix PSE to display the album list simultaneously with folder hierarchy view.
I suggest that the default folder view be folder hierarchy (not folder list). Or even better, let the user choose the default folder view in Preferences.
Starting with PSE 4, I organized my thousands of photos in several main folders and hundreds of subfolders. Many subfolders have the same name, and frequently the subfolder name is a date. Because the PSE 11 folder list view doesn’t show the hierarchical context, folder list view is just clutter and completely useless for me. As recommended in other posts, I do intend to start using tags/events/places and other suggested ways to organize my photos. However, this will be in addition to (not instead of) using folders. I like organizing my photos in folders, just as I like organizing my other files (text, spreadsheet, etc.) in folders. Also, categorizing photos via tags, places, events, etc. is not equivalent to, and does not replace, using folders. For me, categorizing in this manner is an additional usability feature to using folders.
    Thanks for listening...

My own answer will be about :

The fact is that the Organizer has been built historically on a database to manage keywords and categories with some additional tools to enable folder browsing and managing. Note that for other types of applications like word processors or spreadsheets, you have the same choice with using keywords or folder structures.
So, where are we in version 12 ? From what I am reading today, I'll risk a few guesses.
    - I am convinced that most people relying like you on folder organization don't use the Organizer or have given up using it.
    - A great part of the critiques about the Organizer come about people not understanding the idea of catalogs and categories/keywords (I know that is not your case)
    - Anoter great part of the critiques is that the implementation of folder organizing in Elements has aliways been lame and buggy.
What's new in PSE12 is that the folder view has been completely rebuilt. And the result is perceived differently depending on your camp : database or folders...
    - For Folder tenants, the result is two-sided. They are happy to have the folder view with all trees back - They don't see the point of the folder list - They are not happy with the new interface based on new categories (people, events...) - They miss the link between albums and folders as you have mentionned
    - For database tenants, the main advantage is that a lot of bugs have been corrected and that they can use the folders view and folder list as a secondary tool for organizing. The folder list (a feature I had requested) is a great tool for those wanting to migrate from a folder organization to a database one. Usually, the folder names are significant and enable very fast keywording and constitute a powerful search tool.
    - For both camps, the common grudge is the loss of alphanumerical sort order in folder view. I don't care personnally, but I think it's necessary for people working on scans.
So, my wish is that the next version of the Organizer can satisfy people like you,so that much more people use and are happy with the Organizer
