PSE7 organizer freezes when deleting thumbnails

I am attempting to empty my organizer catalog since I have moved the majority of my photos to an external hard drive. If I delete 20 thumbnails at a time I have no problems other than it seems to take an unusually long time. If I attempt to delete all, or even a stack of 200, the program freezes at 39% completion, and my only option is to end the "non responsive" program with the task manager. I have near 5000 thumnails that I need to delete. I've checked the catalog for errors and none were found. I'm not sure if this is related or not, but as of yesterday my welcome screen has a new terms of use area where my member registration should be. If I try to click ok it says "there was a problem updating your account." So I am not even able to login on the welcome screen. I've checked for updates and there are none. Any advice as to what to do would be truly appreciated!

Nope. Doesn't make sense.
You put photos in your catalog because you want to keep them and manage them. There's no point to using the catalog in the mode "Once I'm thru editing I would like them to go away".
The photos shouldn't be generating thumbnails each time you open PSE, unless you have another different problem. Perhaps you could explain that further.
If I do start a new catalog will this one disappear?
I hope this is not a completely stupid question, but do people really leave thousands of photos in their catalogs? If so, why, and does it take a long time to generate thumbnails upon opening?
I'm not computer illiterate, but I'm no genius either....any help really is appreciated!
New catalog is a new file on your hard disk with no photos. In that case, the old catalog remains on your hard disk, but isn't hurting anything.
Yes, the whole point of a catalog is so that you can manage and organize and find your photos, so people do leave thousands of photos in their catalog. In my case, I have ALL of my photos in my catalog. In my mind, there is absolutely no point to having some photos in your catalog and other photos not in your catalog.

Captivate 6 freezes when deleting slides

Hey all,
Captivate 6.0.0.199 freezes when deleting a slides. This does not occur on another machine running the exact same version. This occurs with both new CPTX files created in CP6 and also those upgraded from CP5.
We are on Windows 7.
Any ideas? Deleting slides would be nice.

I see. Let's just try to break down the problem to simpler levels to isolate the cause.
Attempt following tests :
1) Delete just one slide
2) Delete any object from any specific slide
3) Try running capuitivate in admin mode (right click and Choose Run as Admin)
4) If you add new slides and save it and close and reopen, does it show changes made?
5) Please close all projets and just work on a single new project, add some slides, save it and try deleting
Let me know the result of these, try these after updating Captivate.

CS4 Freezes When Deleting Files

I've had CS4 now for a few weeks and I'm finding that whenever I try to delete a .htm file, the program freezes. I've tried the idea of deleting that cache file in the configurations folder. I've even renamed my configuration folder so a new one would be rebuilt. Same thing with the preferences folder. Any ideas on why this is occurring?

I'm also getting frequent freezes when I try to open a folder in DW. I click on the little + sign and it just locks up. Very, very frustrating. I just upgrading from DW 8 to CS4 and right now, I'm instability like I never experienced in DW 8. Please help.

Phone is freezing when deleting messages

I can't delete messages from my 4s. Phone freezes when I try to delete them. Only way it unfreezes is turning it off and back on and the messages are still there. Tried a reset and that didn't work.Help!!!

Imac freezes when deleting secure trash

I have been having trouble with imac recently. freezes when using AE CS6 during rendering stage, convering videos in quicktime, emptying secrue trash, just upgraded RAM to 16GB, just upgraded OS to Mountain Lion.

See if the Disk is issuing any S.M.A.R.T errors in Disk Utility...

Open Activity Monitor in Applications>Utilities, select All Processes & sort on CPU%, any indications there?
How much RAM & free space do you have also, click on the Memory & Disk Usage Tabs.
Open Console in Utilities & see if there are any clues or repeating messages when this happens.
In the Memory tab, are there a lot of Pageouts?
I wouldn't expect Pageouts with 16 GB of RAM, but...

- Are you using APD to download files?

Elements 11 Organizer freezes when loading preferences

Specifically when using Organizer and I try to edit the preferences as suggested by Adobe it gets hung up while loading no matter how long I wait.
I have a Pentium 5, 2.80 GHz, quad core with 8GB of RAM running windows 7 64 bit
I have installed and uninstalled it several times
I have had the computer to the shop and it is clean and virus free
I have cleaned and re-cleaned my registry
My internet caches etc are all clean
I have even tried putting the organizer as its own shortcut on the desktop
I have adjusted the software for compatibility for my computer
I have noticed similiar problems posted regarding previous versions of this softwareand have tried fixes like deleting or re-naming various files

This issue appears where there are any inconsistencies in your catalog (generally for video files). This issue may be due to offline files, missing files, video scenes. The recommendation here would be to fix these inconsistencies and try again. If that doesn't solve the issue, please follow steps mentioned in email by me.

PhotoShop Organizer Freezes when "Getting Photos" finishes

The Organizer opens and another window opens titled “Files Ready for Import”.
With or without the box checked the only thing to do is click OK.
That starts a window titled “Getting Photos”. If there are Photos to load the progress bar fills and apparently the photos are added to the organizer but the window locks up and even the stop button does nothing. The Task Manger must be used to kill the Organizer process. This tries to run even when no new photos are available. I can not get into the Organizer to disable the "Watch Folders".
I have tried to uninstall and re-install the Photoshop Application but it made no difference.
Please see the attachment for further details and the Adobe response... or lack thereof.
Does anyone know a way to Disable the Watch function?
I would rather add the required folders/photos to the catalog manually when needed than fight this.

The screen shot from your original post was missing -- I should have asked about that before assuming the problem was really watched folders. I bet the window you're seeing looks like this:
This comes not from the Watch Folders feature but from the Adobe Photo Downloader, which downloads photos from cameras and scanners.
Apparently what's happened is that PSE terminated after the APD downloaded some photos but before they got imported into the catalog. Now every time you start PSE, it first tries to import those photos, which is crashing PSE for some reason before the photos get fully imported.
To break this cycle, delete the contents of the following folder:
Vista: C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\5.0\APDLogs
XP: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\5.0\APDLogs
(I'm not positive about the XP folder -- I'm translating from the location on my Vista machine.) I bet there's a .xml file in that folder that contains the list of files that PSE is trying to import.

Freezing when deleting

I downloaded a couple new apps recently and now a can't delete them. Not from the home screen because when i press the X on the app my ipod freezes for a minute and not from settings neither, it freezes there too. What do i do?

Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.

If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

TB freezes when deleting emails. Only anti-virus is Windows Defender.

When I click on an email message and click one of the <delete> buttons, the little blue circle comes on, and I get a message "(not responding)". That is one click of <delete> for one email line. Usually happens after deleteing a few previous emails
TB 24.4.0. Windows8.1. Windows Defender. All up to date.
I checked. Do _not_ have McAfee, Norton, Avast, etc. on system or as Add-ons.
Tried restarting Windows 8.1. a few times. Problem remains.

I've seen this issue on every Win 8 installation as well. It seems to be caused by contention; Thunderbird and Windows Defender are doing a lot of disk IO on the same files.
The solution is simple: exclude the Thunderbird profile directory from being scanned by Defender.
Open Windows Defender (Start -> flick up or use down button with mouse -> Look for "Windows Defender" under the "Windows system" header).
Go to Settings, "Excluded files and locations" and use the Browse button.
Find c:\users\<your username>\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles
Select this directory, then press the "Add" button.
If the directory is shown in the bottom dialog, press "Save changes".
All done, Thunderbird should be ready to go, without performance issues.

Exchange Outlook 2013 freezes when deleting shared calendar for employees who have been removed

I am removing users' shared calendars from my outlook 2013 in exchange environment. The problem is, that the shared calendars belong to users who have left the company and have been removed from the domain, this is causing outlook to freeze because i think
it's trying to find the entry then delete it, rather than delete it.
There is no problem deleting a shared calendar for an user who still is in the domain. This seems to be strictly affecting users who have left the domain.

Generally, if the shared calendar owner is removed from the Exchange environment, the shared calendar which was added before should be removed from Outlook client normally.
Please use Outlook with Exchange cached mode, and make sure the shared calendar was not added in Advanced tab in Account Settings. Please start Outlook in safe mode and remove the shared calendar to have a try.
If the issue doesn’t happen in safe mode, please disable the third-party add-ins one by one to find out the cause.

Thunderbird 31.3 freezing when deleting some emails, Win 8.1, Eset A/Virus email scanning

Since I bought a new PC with Win 8, I have had this problem. Tried re-installing TB with same result. Upgraded to 8.1 & re-installed again with same result. Thought it was filtering so stopped that but still the same.I can delete & move some emails then it will freeze for a time (usually between 1 & 3 mins).

-- If problem is still gone, then cause is a program loaded during windows startup. Possibilities include: antivirus SW, virus/malware, background downloads such as program updates
-- If problem is NOT gone, then cause is likely a Thunderbird addon - eliminate them by disabling each one at a time in Tools | addons | extensions and restarting
