Published site gives corrupt rendering in browser

Publishing my site to a local folder and everything looks fine. (I cleared cache just to be sure). Publishing to my webhost and the site is all over the place. Again, I cleared cache in the browser just to be sure and even tried looking at the site with a different browser. Same corruption. I can't understand why it publishes locally OK.
If it helps the site is www.finecabinetmaker.co.uk
Thanks

OK...read a few more forum posts and ran Publish Entire Site and that fixed the problem. I will leave this here in case anyone else tears there hair out with a similar problem in the future.

  • How to rate and give review for the product in SharePoint Contoso demo site by the customer/user from publishing site?

    Hi,
I am new to SharePoint, and am working on Contoso demo site.
I want to know where to give star rating and review for the product in SharePoint Contoso demo site. Even after spending enough hours i didn't find solution for this problem. All the answers i got was changing the List/Library settings -> Rating settings,
if i follow that, i get the rating column displayed in my catalog site. How can i bring it on my publishing site and let the customers give rating or review for the product from publishing site. Is there any OOTB feature in sharepoint or it shoul be customized.
    Thanks in advance.
    Akshaya

Are you using the Content Search Web Part?  Just tweaking that once the source library has had the rating column applied should work.  Have you tried this?

  • Why is my published site not operational when using Firefox or IE?

The original problem I experienced had to do with the fact that my published site's navigation bar was totally missing on each page and replaced with a "period" as described by the following thread... http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=9899999&#9899999
The weird thing is that this problem only exists when using IE or Firefox on a PC (at work). Site is 100% operational using Safari on a Mac (at home).
Thinking my iWeb files were corrupt, I uninstalled and reinstalled iWeb '08. After doing so, I republished my site. The good news: the nav bar is now present on each page and operational. The bad news: my photo pages and blog page have zero content other than the header banner and nav bar. Again, this problem only exists when accessing the published site using IE or Firefox on a PC. The site is fully operational and all photos/blog entries present when accessing the site using Safari on my Mac.
What gives? Did a recent iWeb update (intended for iWeb 09 users or intel-based macs) corrupt my iWeb '08 on my PowerBook G4?

Please note that Java and Javascript are not related. iWeb uses a lot
of Javascript, not Java. There may be some issues with the Javascript
generated by iWeb -- I don't know. If it seems to work for someone
and not for someone else then it is an issue at the browser end, not
the website end. Each browser may not be handling the Javascript in
exactly the same way. (You gotta love standards.)

  • Google map widget does not show up in published site. Any suggestions?

After I've dragged the google map widget onto my page and publish it, it does not show up in the published site. Any suggestions?

Try publishing to a local folder and double clicking the index.html file to launch your site in the browser direct from your hard disk to see if the map works.
Where are you publishing to - MobileMe or another server?

  • IWeb 2009 - Crash & Domain.Site possible corruption?

I was working on a webpage that I publish to my MobileMe account. Created the Welcome page, no problem, when I got to the "My Albums" is when my crashing problem begain. Something regarding a Kernal Exception (SGID).
    These were the steps:
Created Album on "Sites" list in iWeb.
    Selected a template from presets.
(this is where the problem began). I dragged a MobileMe Gallery I created in iPhoto, into the templates "drag and drop album here" element on the Album page in iWeb.
The Domains.site2 file it was using, would crash iWeb everytime.
I deleted (moved Domains.site2) to trash, and iWeb would once again, load.
I created another site, saved it, then moved it to another folder, so I would be prompted by iWeb to create or choose a domain site.
I chose the Domain.site2 file that had been causing the iWeb crashes, and it loaded.
When I attempted to select the album page under "My Albums", it would crash everytime. But I could at least still load iWeb. But there was no way to remove the "corrupt?" album page from Domains.site2. So basically, I had to start over.
Now, I go to create a new Domain site, I publish it to my MobileMe web/site. But the Domain.site file could not be found anywhere! Perhaps, instead of using ".site" or "site" as the root name, I named it "The Art of t.king", caused this?
    So my question is:
1.) How do I avoid creating corrupt Domains.sites? can I not use Galleries created in iPhoto that are MobileMe sync enabled? I "thought" it would be nice, if the website album auto-updated content when updating the MobileMe Sync'd Gallery in iPhotos.
2.) Do the suffices of Domain.Sites have to be "sitesxxxx"? is this why I lost my last Welcome page / Domain.TheArt_oft.king? (it shows on mobile me browing "/web" contents.

How can I find the real domain file? or is it gone?
Welcome to the discussions. Try using Spotlight to search for the latest Domain file. ...It has an extension (usually hidden) of:
    .sites2
But Spotlight doesn't look in all areas of the hard drive — so if no luck, download and run Find File to search for ".sites2".
    InterAd wrote:
Can I recover the file from the published site?
    No.
Or do I have to rebuild it from scratch?
You'll have to if you can't find the Domain file.
And it's not only your Domain file that you may lose; as someone wrote:
"Be very careful with those domain filed. You lose them and your toast."

  • IE Scolling/Lag issues with IWeb Published Site

Has anyone had any issues with scrolling/lag with Internet Explorer on an iWeb published site? I have a site that runs great on Firefox and safari but terrible on Internet Explorer. I'm thinking it may be the template/design i used?
Anyone every seen this? Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    JC

I've only ever used the Modern Frame, so I can't say if there would be a performance issue using a different template. I have about three pictures on each page.
I noticed on your site that you're using the "reflection" effect on some of your pictures. Just for the purpose of testing, perhaps you could try turning off that effect and then re-uploading your site to see if that is causing some of the problem? I believe the reflection is rendered using javascript code, which may be causing the poor performance in IE. If that does turn out to be the problem, you can decide whether it's worth it to keep the effect or not.
By the way, I don't get that same error message in IE when I open your Videos page. Maybe it's caused by a security setting in your IE being set at a more restrictive level?

  • "Publish Site Changes" doesn't work on FTP

When publishing via the FTP option in iWeb I always have to "Publish Entire Site". If I only publish site changes, the site will no longer load when I try to load it in any web browser. Publish site changes worked flawlessly when I had my site hosted via iWeb but no longer works with a 3rd party host. I've tried publishing to a Folder (Publish entire site, then make changes, then Publish site changes) and then uploading via and FTP client - same result. Any ideas, or am I stuck publishing my ENTIRE site every time I make a change?

    Hi Alex,
Please try to connect to your server using some third party FTP client such as Filezilla. If it works, please export your site HTML and use filezilla to upload the site. If it do not work, please contact your hosting service provider and get the correct FTP info.

  • Update publishing site to web as well as folder

I have a site that I am publishing to my MobileMe account. I want to also publish it to a local folder so that I can make a CD from it for special uses. I have done both of these things, but the media files are not kept parallel --- the local folder is not replacing the QuickTIme movies I am using (although the MobileMe site did). I have deleted the entire local folder and republished everything and it still finds some old version somewhere (I have no idea where) of some files and publishes them. What's up?
Along the same vein --- maybe related? ---, when I update the media files (these QuickTime videos) the "publish site changes" in iWeb does not realize those files are updated and so does not publish the new files unless I publish the entire site again. What am I doing wrong?

Usually publishing to a folder will give you the latest in changes to the site. It's often the MMe version that has a difficult time. Strange. Try deleting the iWeb preference file, com.apple.iWeb.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder, launch iWeb and try publishing to a folder again.
If that fails, you can, as a workaround, mount your iDisk, go to the iDisk/Web/Sites folder and drag your site folder to the desktop to get a local copy.

  • Webpart page in a publishing site

I have a Sharepoint 2013 on premise environment. Does anyone know how to add a webpart page or add the functionality so that it’s a little easier and more consistent?
Here is an article outlining how one might add a wepart page but my issue is that even when I go to the sitepages library and hit add new document from the files tab, webpart page is not available?
I am working in a publishing site and would really like this page type back. My users do not like the new page layout and prefer the old webpart page options.
    http://community.bamboosolutions.com/blogs/sharepoint-2013/archive/2012/11/05/how-to-create-a-web-part-page-in-sharepoint-2013.aspx

Under page layouts I have "site can use any page layout"  The problem that I am having is that this site was created as a publishing site. It seems when a site is created as a publishing site (as opposed to creating a teamsite and enabling
the publishing feature) you do NOT get the same options when creating a new page.
On the Publishing site when I create a page, I get one big column which my users can edit. Under the "Page" tab in the ribbon menu we have the option to adjust the "Page Layout" which seems to offer some options but does not function
like the old webpart page where you can adjust columns .  The options listed here are a bit limited and overly complicated for my user group.
On the Teamsite, with publishing enabled, when I create a page I also get one big column that my users can edit.  under the "Page" tab there is NO page layout button.  Under the Format Text tab there is a "Text Layout" button.
This is what my users are looking for.  This button gives my users the ability to quickly and easily change the column structure of the site.  It is simple and perfect.
Any idea how to add the "Text Layout" button to a pub site?

  • Calendar view on page for Published site.

I have a subsite, and I create a calendar for meetings, on a new page I added a web part to show the calendar (calendar view). when I logged on the site, each event has their one link to details, (disform.aspx?id= something)  but as soon I publish the
page, and go and use the browser as anonymous (not logged), I can see the calendar but I don't have links to see the details of the event.
I know this work because on the same site I have another subsite with another calendar and it is working just fine, i tried and I know I did it in another site, I just don't have links in this one.
the collapse or add links show up and work fine, it is just the link to the events detail. Someone can help me?

I did a test in my environment with anonymous access in the publish site and the event is in the calendar.
For a better troubleshooting, I suggest you do as followings:
    1. Check the anonymous access in the site settings-> site permission->Anonymous Access->Entire Web Access.
    2. Check if you have deactived the feature “limited-access user permission lock down mode” feature in site collection feature.
    3. If the issue still exists, I suggest you recreate a calendar to test whether it works.

  • IWeb published site different than designed

I scrolled through numerous pages and was surprised I did not see this problem already described.
I design a simple (though long) page using iWeb. Text and images only. The images are embedded, but non are overlapping. It looks great as I am working on it in the iWeb window. I publish it to a folder on my laptop then view either by using "visit published site" or going to the directory and firing up the index.html. There are lots of problems - images have been moved, fonts are wrong (there looks to be a "format persistence" problem -- a type or size will continue for a few extra words. I edit, making sure the fonts are the ones I want and re-publish with the same poor results. Not very WYSIWYG at all! I'd try to edit the html code, taking the iWeb written stuff as a pretty good start, but it is not very pretty html.
So, at this point iWeb is a completely useless program! As many others are using it without this problem, there must be some solution. Anyone had this issue and found a way to fix it?
    thanks

What is the web address of the published site so we can see what you are referring to?
    While waiting for that:
A common reason why formatting on a published page will not match what you see in iWeb is that objects (pictures, movies, text boxes, etc.) are overlapping. When the web browser goes to try and interpret that overlap the results can vary (this can effect the display of fonts as well).
Go to the page in question in iWeb and click on 1 object. Go to Edit > Select All.
You will see all the objects on the page with their boundaries activated. Move any items that are overlapping so they have their own space around them.

  • Published site has more pages that local iWeb files

I added several pages to my site. Then my hard drive crashed and my backup did not have the new pages. Now the published site has more pages than what i see when I open iWeb. How can I fix this? I want all the published pages also available in my hard drive.

You will have to recreate the new pages, unless you can use a file recovery service to ressurect the domain file that was on the crashed hard drive.
You can copy and paste images and text from the published website (view it in your browser) into new iWeb pages, but there is not a way to import html files back into iWeb.

  • Publishing Error, and I have tried the Publish Site Changes option

I tried to update my website for the first time since upgrading and couldn't. I have tried the "Publish Site Changes" option as well as publishing the entire site, but am getting this error message:
An error occurred while publishing file “/private/var/folders/7R/7Ry8Tbdf2RW72E8ZQJxeU++TI/TemporaryItems/com.apple.iWeb636_TEMP_255615036_7/sites/Site/Musashino_Monday_4/Musashino_Monday_4files/Simps CloseUp.png”. Try publishing again later.
This has been going on for a couple of days...any idea what gives?

    Hi,
Error 7 is "No Data for 10 Secs" and is related to bandwidth issues.
It generally means the bandwidth dropped as you made the call.
This can be due to a number of factors.
As it is Comcast I would reboot your modem first as some peopel report thsi gets them their dful speed back.
After that talk to Comcast. They will not admit anything but things do seem to change.

  • Automatic Publish Site Changes

Is there a way for iWeb '09 to automatically publish site changes everyday at a specified time?

You might be able to create an Automator workflow that would open iWeb and invoke the File ➙ Publish Site Changes menu at a give time each day.  Or possibly an Applescript.  As in those forums for help.
