Publisher: Changing transfer/browser path? [Kaboom]

Hello -
We've been having a bit of a time with changing Publisher's transfer and browser path(s).
* ALUI 6.0
* Publisher 6.2
- one master publishing node
- 3 "read only" published content nodes
* All content written to a Windows share
* Publisher service(s) all execute as a Windows user with writes to the share
Works great, but...We need to change path Publisher is referencing to write to / read from.
EX: today it writes to "SERVER\OldShare\" - we want it to instead map to "SERVER\NewShare\"
I'm not sure the appropriate way to go about this and the support team seems as stumped as we are.
Steps we're going through now:
* Open Publisher Administration portlet
* Right-click on the top-level "Plumtree" folder so the context menu opens up
* Choose "Publishing Target..."
* We're using "Transfer Using: File Path" (Windows share)
* Transfer path is set to "file://localhost///MyFileServer/publishedcontent/publish"
* Browser path is set to "http://publisher.mycompany.com:7087/publishedcontent/publish"
We want to modify this to be...
* Transfer path is set to "file://localhost///MyFileServer/newpublishedcontent/publish"
* Browser path is set to "http://publisher.mycompany.com:7087/newpublishedcontent/publish"
Kaboom.
Once I update these settings and click "Test Publish Target" I get the following:
"Site specified by browser path does not match transfer path location."
I don't get it. Not saying it doesn't make sense, but I certainly don't get why or what to do ;)
Not even sure where to look on this one in terms of exceptions. I'm not seeing any exceptions in PTSpy (actually, I'm not seeing anything in PTSpy) and the logs only seem to contain basic info and no explicit "this was bad" messages.
Any ideas on how to pursue this would be most appreciated :)
Thanks,
Eric

Thank you for your reply :) You inspired me to validate everything and kind of revisit this from scratch. Instead of trusting the system I busted out Textpad and scanned ALL of Publisher's appilcation files for instances of my publishing path. That did the trick and I found where the little bugger seems to get some of its less obvious configuration values.
* First I found...
\\MyPublisherServer\d$\Program Files\Plumtree\ptcs\6.2\container\conf\jboss.web\localhost\publishedcontent.xml
This looked promising, but it wasn't, really. This file will be rewritten by the jboss service startup, but it was an indicator of the issue as it contained the pesky (old) physical publishing path I wanted to replace.
* Finally we hit gold
\\MyPublisherServer\d$\Program Files\Plumtree\ptcs\6.2\container\deploy\jbossweb-tomcat50.sar\server.xml
This file contains...
<Context path="/publishedcontent" appBase=""
docBase="//MyFileServer/publishedcontent" debug="99" reloadable="true">
</Context>
We changed it to something on the order of...
<Context path="/publishedcontent" appBase=""
docBase="//MyOtherFileServer/newpublishedcontentpath" debug="99" reloadable="true">
</Context>
OK - that actually seemed to help a LOT. Now I can get at the old content and Publisher seemed way, way happier. Cool!
* Next we hit issues creating folders/portlets in Publisher -
"Error: Portlet creation failed: Error accessing file in database ("Document not found: id=F046C0A1/D31E34DD.ACT"). "
This is indicating that Publisher cannot find/access the files or folders from the document repository associated with the (original) Publisher folder structure. To get past this, find your new document repository and copy/restore the files to it from the old document repository.
EX:
FROM \\MyOldDRServer\H$\Plumtree\ptdr\documents\PTContent\Active
TO \\MyNewDRServer\D$\Program Files\Plumtree\ptdr\documents\PTContent\Active
That should do it :)
For those needing to change paths, do a disaster recovery exercise or just find a less obtrusive way to move some things around environments (EX: prod->dev refresh) I hope this helps.

  • Can't publish changes - buttons disabled

    Dear all,
    I can not publish changes to my sitethrough iWeb. The buttons are disabled to publish and I have no ideawhat to do... I have to update my website! I have 2 mac computers athome, but just one of them is with all the site that I've donebefore. It's EMMANUELEBALDINI.ME
    I have Time Capsule also, but I don'tknow how to copy the whole site in it.. and also, how to update mywebsite.
    First it has appeared UNKNOWNPUBLISHING ERROR OCCURS. THE DISK MAY BE DAMAGED, FULL, OR YOU MAYNOT HAVE SUFFICIENT and I tried to cancel some dates to fix thisproblem and now it doesn't appear this message, but the buttons andthe option to publish the website don't appear.
    Some help?
    Please...
    Fernanda

    First we need some details:  where are you hosting the site? Have you visited the site to see if the changes have been made?  Try clearing your browser's cache (Command+Option+E for Safari) and relaod the site.
    Have you tried publishing your site to a folder on your hard drive?  If not do so.
    A first fix attempt can be the following:
    delete the iWeb preference file, com.apple.iWeb.plist, that resides in your Home() /Library/Preferences folder.
    go to your Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder and delete its contents.
    launch iWeb and try again.

  • IWeb - Can't Publish Changes

    Apple announced support for iWeb publishing until June 30th.  I am no longer permitted to publish changes to my site.
    Is there any way around this until I transfer the site to a new webhosting service?

    Try this:  launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library.  Import some photos and check to see if the same problem persists. If the problem is not repeated with the test library then your current library is damaged.
    If that's the case make a temporary, backup copy if you don't already have one (select the library and type Command+D) and apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
    Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
    Select the options identified in the screenshot.
    Fix #2
    Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
    Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
    Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
    Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
    In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    Click on the Create button.
    Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • Doesnt seem to connect when published in a browser

    Hey friends.. im a total newbie to Flash Media server.. i
    just started using this for the past 2 days..so, heres the problem
    im facing..i ve a simpleConnect component and a connectionlight
    component on my stage and i connect both of em..the connectionlight
    goes green when i test movie in flash(ie Ctrl+Enter).. but when i
    Publish(F12) it in a browser.. the light is red.. why isnt it
    connecting to the server when ublished in a browser?i hope u
    understand my problem..please Help me out..
    Cheers~~

    When published in a browser you need to adjust your Flash
    Player's security settings and allow outbound connections for files
    being in the directory where your swf file is. Remember: The html
    and the swf are served from the local file system (C:\path\to\swf)
    and the swf then tries to connect to your fms machine:
    (rtmp://yourserver/app). You should actually have seen an error
    message when you first tried.
    Alternatively you could put your SWF onto a web server (like
    your users would)

  • IWeb won't publish changes to website without adding "/SiteName"

    I'm trying to publish changes to my website with a URL that is an established domain name.
    When I click "Publish Site", iWeb adds "/SiteName" to the URL and the changes are
    published to "URL/SiteName". But when I search for my site on Google (it pops up
    readily as the website has been accessed many many times), the OLD, UNCHANGED
    website with the old URL comes up. To get the revised website, users would have
    to specifically use the CHANGED URL, "URL/SiteName."
    Every time I try to remove "Site Name" from the blank for Site name, iWeb puts
    "SiteName" back in. How do I keep the Site name slot blank so that iWeb will
    publish my changes to the old familiar URL that can be found on Google?
    As a Server engineer commented to me, "There has been a folder called [SiteName] uploaded
    recently to the root [URL] of your account. This make me suspect that iWeb is set to publish in the
    wrong directory. Make sure it is publishing to the public_html directory."
    I put "public_html" into Directory/Path. Still no changes to my website at URL; changes have
    been published only to "URL/SiteName".
    Any help available?

    That is the way that iWeb works and it is normal practice to get the url with the Sitename in it.  As you have found, if you try to leave the sitename blank, iWeb will put it back in.
    The server engineer that you spoke to is correct that your site folder has been uploaded to your 'public_html" folder on your server.
    If you want your url without the sitename included, then you need to upload the contents only from your site folder and NOT the whole folder itself and then your url will be http://www.domain.com without the http://www.domain.com/sitename/page name.html.
    You can achieve this by publishing your site to a local folder from iWeb and then you need to download an ftp programme such as Cyberduck or Yummy ftp.  You then use either of these 2 to upload only the contents of your site folder to your 'public_html' folder on your server and if you just upload the contents and NOT the whole folder itself, then your url will be http://www.domain.com.
    Sometimes putting 'public_html' into the Directory/Path will not work and you'll need to strart from scratch, so you'll need an ftp programme so that you can link up to your server and you can see exactly what is in your public_html folder on your server and delete the site folder and start again, by then uploading just the contents of your site folder rather than the whole folder itself.
    Ultimately, what you need to do is upload the contents and the contents only of your site folder and NOT the whole folder itself to get your url back to http://www.domain.com without the sitename.

  • Change the install path for Acrobat Pro X

    Hi everybody! I just downloaded the AcroX trial to see what's beef with the new release, but I ran into a very annoying problem:
    I'm quite nitpicking about my Applications folder, and I installed all of my other Adobe software into an "Adobe" subfolder.
    I just noticed that during the installation is not possible to easily change the installation path like you can do in other Adobe setups...
    I found this in the KB
    (http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/877/cpsid_87775.html#main_Known_issues_on_Mac_OS)
    "You cannot install Acrobat to a custom location." and other stuff...
    The question is: do you have any idea of the priority of this bug? Will this be fixed anytime soon?
    Thanks, Agia

    Hi,
    Just followed the link you gave. In the try option for Acrobat X Pro the dropdown only has options for Windows installers and not MAC Installers.
    Secondly to answer your issue for customize installation to a path on OS 10.6, follow the following steps:
    1) Mount the dmg on MAC
    2) Launch the installer package
    3) Click OK on popup that you need to close running instances of Acrobat
    4) Click next to go to Read Me.
    5) Click next to move to Installation Type screen where we have buttons "Install", "GoBack" and "Customize". Click on Customize
    6) In this screen you will see 3 checkboxes "Application", "Browser Plug-In" and "Print Workflow" with columns as Package Name, Location, Action and Size
    7) Corresponding to Application Checkbox there is Location specified (With a small folder icon) - Adobe Acrobat X Pro. Click on this to select your location (2nd column)
    This is similar to what traditional Apple products installers do like XCode installer. There is nothing new in this.
    Thanks,
    Karan

  • How do I stop iCal from changing the server path of CalDAV accounts?

    I'm using Davical as a calendar server for our family. Some may wonder why I use Davical and not iCloud. I do for one reason...there is no way to disable getting other users' alarms on the iPhone. I want to be able to view my wife's calendar but not get her alarms and have her be able to view my calendar and not get my alarms.
    So, now onto the issue with server path setting changing in iCal. We each have our own calendar set up within our own accounts on our Davical server. We each have read access to the other's calendar. Within iCal account settings I have her account set up on my Mac with my username/password (jason/****) and, under server settings, the server path points to her calendar /caldav.php/juiper/). After a few days, sometimes just a few hours, suddenly I will have duplicate events throughout my calandar in iCal. Going to preferences I will see that the server path for her calendar will have been changed to the location of my calendar (/caldav.php/jason/). I'll correct the server path, restart iCal and then the calander will be correct for a while unitl the server path is automatically and incorrectly changed again and I must manually correct it again.
    Thanks!

    My coworkers and I use DavMail to share access to a shared Exchange calendar, authenticating with our own ADS credentials. We also see the behavior where iCal will reset the CalDav calendar path to the username (our own) that is authenticating to the CalDav service. In Lion this wasn't a deal breaker for us. While very annoying, the work around was simple. Update the path via preferences, and restart iCal. However in Mountain Lion, the issue has become a lot more difficult to fix. It's no longer a matter of updating the path via preferences and restarting.
    In Mountain Lion the solution to change the CalDav path back to the original path requires you to edit the file ~/Library/Calendars/<somehash>.caldav/Info.plist
    Contained within this file is a value "CalendarHomePath", simply update the string to your desired path, clear out the 'Calendar Cache' file for good measure, then restart iCal.

  • How can I change the folder path to my library

    I just changed the file path to my locally stored music from C:\MyStuff\...\iPod Nano Music\... to C:\OneDrive\...\iPod Nano Music\...
    Is there a way I can edit the path that Apple has locally stored to redirect iTunes to the new, correct location instead of (as I've had to do previously) deleting all the music files in iTunes and then adding each music folder back?
    In Advanced Preferences the 'iTunes media folder location' shows as C:\Users\Mark\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media with an edit button. However this is not the location of all my music files (as indicated above).
    Mark

    If you want to move your media to a new path what you should do is edit the media folder preference in iTunes and then consolidate to that new path. Moving the media first by hand and then trying to fix iTunes is generally the wrong approach.
    Your options are to move everything back where it came from, then consolidate to the new path, then delete the originals that iTunes leaves behind. Alternatively you should be able to use my FindTracks script to reconnect the relocated media to iTunes. See this post for an explanation of how it works.

  • RH HTML 9-chm file How to change the Shared Path of all images in entire project.

    Dear alll,
    Previously, I inserted all images to my project from a shared folder with path A. But now I could not access to path A anymore, so I created a folder with the same name in path B which have the same images.
    Now I need to update images and I cannot synchronize them from the current folder with path B.
    I right-click an image in Project Manager pod, select Properties and then I saw this image has an attribute Shared Path is path A. There is any way to change this Shared Path to path B for all images in the project at a time ?
    Anyone experiments it, please help me. Thanks.

  • How to change file location path at run time in OWB 10g

    Hello all,
    We want to load several files with the same name but from different folders into a single table.
    The information about the paths is stored in an oracle table.
    Is there any best practice to achieve this?
    Our approach is to loop on the number of sources and execute the mapping after changing the location path. We found how to make the loop, and have the apropriate OMB command to update the location path, but we are still looking for a way to call this OMB plus command in a process flow or a mapping. Any idea?
    We also succeeded in loading the file from an unregistered location, which is necessary to be able to update the path, but I'm not sure this is really the best approach. Any advise?
    Thanks in advance for your help!
    best regards
    Cedric.

    Hi,
    I can provide you with an idea on this, dont know if it will work or not.
    Suppose, you need to load 5 files in different folder locations into a single table. Call the mapping 5 times in a process flow. If you log in to the database, and go the table all_directories in your target schema, you will find an entry for the actual path of the file you are trying to laod. I think if this path is updated before each run of the mapping, you can load all files into the target table. Only thing you have to do is call a procedure which will update this record in all_directories table with the different locations each time you want and then plug in this procedure before each call to the mapping in a process flow and see if it works or not?
