PXI-6534 Card using Traditional Legacy Card to DAQmx driver

I don't know where to start..I am stuck on an issue that needs to be solved.
I am using a Traditional legacy driver on a PXI-6534 Card.
I want to move it to using the DAQmx driver.
Can someone point me to the right direction?
Thank you..
Best regards,
Krispiekream

i read over the link you provided and i can see that changing it will take a while.
some of the examples given didn't cover all the questions i have.
can you see my vi and see how would i change that to daqmx?

  • Simultaneous Measurement with 6120 card using DAQ legacy

I'm incorporating a PXI-6120 card into our test system for simultaneous measurement.  We currently have  a wrapper built in VB for the Ni-DAQ legacy driver.  There's a pretty tight deadline on getting this integrated and since the 6120 card is compatible with the Legacy driver, I'd like to use that instead of DAQmx.  I've been looking through the AI read commands in Ni-DAQ legacy and they all seem to call out a single channel, so there would be a time delay in geting all 4 channels measuring simultaneously.  I'm unable to find a command that selects specific channels or even all of the analog input channels to begin measuring at the same time (true simultaneous measuement).  I've believe I saw this capability with DAQmx.  How is this done with DAQ legacy?

I haven't worked in PXI, but have done a lot of VB6 programming with the legacy DAQ stuff.  Sounds like what you need to do is a SCAN - which is multi-channel.  There are different ways of doing this depending on whether you want to start the daq device collecting data and then have your app do other stuff, coming back periodically to check if the data collection is done.  Or if you're simply looking to grab a quick set of readings, check out the Scan_Op command.
I believe in most (all?) scans you need to collect more than one reading per channel - but you can do as few as 2 per - then average them.
    Hope this helps!

I'm using the open source drivers with an HD6670 video card. It seems that my system will not load the proper 3D acceleration drivers. I am a member of the "video" group.

  • Does NI PXI-6259 support both Traditional DAQ and NI-DAQmx of Labview 7.0 Express?

I need to buy a Multifunction DAQ board which will be supported by both the Traditional and NI-DAQmx of Labview 7.0. Is the NI PXI-6259 appropriate for such application?
    Thank you.
    Ujwal

M-series boards are not supported by Traditional NI-DAQ. Stick with the E-series if you require Traditional support.

  • I use labview 8.0 and i can not run daqmx driver for pcmcia 6062e daq card

i use labview 8.0 on window xp .when i installed a PCMCIA daq card 6062E, i could not run daqmx driver. It is fine to see that the traditional version is working well. When i install daq card sometimes it is working well with traditional driver  but mostly i see error on reading an analog input from PCMCIA daq device. An error called 'base adress' occures .I use last version of driver that is daqmx 8.0.1. and i have installed this correctly but again i could not  see any signal on the test panel for daq-mx driver.I don't know what is the problem. Also when i install PCMCIA daq card Please reply this message.I need your helps.
    Thanks

    Hello,
Thanks for your reply.I will try to answer your questions.
I have checked the Device Mananger and I have seen that the device is detected by Windows  XP.  For another question the card shows up under both NI-DAQmx Devices and Traditional NI-DAQ (Legacy) Devices consistently in the Measurement & Automation Explorer.I use a way that I reset the driver for traditional NI-DAQ in MAX,and then i reset the device for NI-DAQmx driver in MAX and again i tried to run the test panel of DAQmx driver but again i saw a wrong signal or noise signal on the test panel i could not see the sinusoidal signal that i connected. i do get the test panels to run with the card using the DAQmx driver,  But could not run the DAQ diagnostic utility. The error was as i specified below.

  • Using iTunes gift cards - please help me

I hope I am thinking right by saying that I can use an itunes gift card on my itunes store - i do have an account UK but i dont have a credit card. The account (itunes) was opened choosing the NONE option when I downloaded my first free app.
If I were to buy gift cards using cash/debit card from stores do you think I will be able to use them?
    This solves a BIG problem!
    Cheers guys

The only iTunes gift cards you could use would have to be purchased in the UK and you have to have a mailing address there as well to be able to set an account to be able to purchase any content.

  • Copying files to SD card using USB card reader

Everytime I try to copy mp3 files to an SD card using a USB card reader my notebook hangs after just a few MB have been transferred. what should i do?

I myself have seen this happen right in front of me with a customer. Sometimes you have to me a little more selective with your card readers because not all of them work right out of the box.
I have found the Zio corporation readers to work splended with Mac OS X you can find them at Compusa I haven't really seen them any other place. But IMHO the issue is with your reader and not your memory.
As for the part number on the reader from compusa it is as follows that is if you are willing to give it a try....
Thunderbolt SD / MMC / MS Reader / Writer
    Manufacturer: Zio Corporation
    Mfg Part #: CM28100
    Product Number: 332371

  • My Satellite A100 does not support SDHC cards with the internal card reader

    Hi,
My satelite A100 does not support my sandisk 4 GB SDHC card.
"normal" SD cards are not a problem with the internal card reader, and there are no problems with the sandisk 4 GB SDHC card using a external card reader.
    is there a software solution?
    regrads,
    Itock

I do not have time to read users manuals for your notebook model but all supported cards can be listed there. I suppose SDHC is not listed and not supported.
I do not know what you mean with software solution but, as far as I know, update for multimedia card reader is not available.

  • Simultaneous updation of sine wave using 2 PXI-6711 cards using RTSI Trigger

    Hi ,
How to generate continuous sine wave using two pxi-6711 cards at same time without any phase shift using traditional nidaq functions.
    Regards,
    satya

In LabVIEW, go to Help>>Find Examples. Navigate to Hardware Input and Output>>Traditional DAQ>>Multiple Device. There is an example there called "Two E Series Shared Scan Clock". That example is for analog input, but you should be able to modify it to be for analog output. Basically you will just have to share the scan clock from one board(master) and use it as an 'external' clock for the other board(slave).

  • How to simutaneously use 2 PCI cards, one with traditional DAQ, the other with DAQmx?

    Hi,
I am currently trying to debug a system that used to work.. but sadly isnt anymore
A single computer contains 2 PCI cards (6110 & 6036E). The 6110 card is controlled by a fairly old software, programmed in labview, and hence, using Traditional NI-DAQ. The 6036e card is controlled by a more recent soft, programmed in LV as well but using DAQmx.
the AI/AO of the 6110 card is only momentarily used (20 sec consecutively, every minute) while the 6036E card is continuously receiving and sending data on its AI/AO.
Now the problem: the program that control the 6036E card freezes every time that the old prog access the 6110 card.. and then it works again perfectly until the next time that the 6110 card is used.
So my question: how can I make those 2 cards work simultaneously?
I dont think that it is because of the software nor because of the computer lack of memory/CPU if it used to work in the past. It might be about a wrong configuration of cards in the MAX but I couldnt find anything wrong there (no problem when accessing AI/AO of both cards through "test panel")
Thank you very much for you help.

That's what bugs me. The only thing that those 2 cards share is an AO of the 6110 connected to an AI of the 6036.
For the rest, nothing is common. The 1st program only deal with device1, while the 2nd prog only access dev2. There shouldnt be any problem and everything is working fine separately. Hence, why I was wondering if the traditional daq and daqmx might conflict on a same computer.
I just cant find out why the 2nd program controling the daqmx card just freeze everytime the 1st program access the traditional card. It actually doesnt freeze completly but becomes soooo slow, with about only 2 iterations of the main while loop during those 15-20 sec (instead of the normal 3-4000 iterations during such a period).
The computer specs are a 2.2ghz proc for 1G of ram and running XP, so it should be ok.. even though the computer does slow a bit down when the 1st prog access the traditional card.

  • Generating a waveform using PXI-6534

    Hello,
I am trying to write a VI to generate 3 waveforms using a PXI-6534. I am not familiar with how to do this in Labview really, so I was hoping I could get some help getting started with this. The 3 signals are a clock signal, data, and load enable. The clock has a frequency of 614.4KHz, and a data bit is sent on the falling edge of each clock pulse. After 48 data bits have been sent, the clock remains low while the load enable signal is pulsed low for one clock cycle. Unfortunately I do not have the waveform generation editor, are there any alternatives to this? If anyone could give me any suggestions or point me to any tutorials or examples it would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Steve

This you can do this.  I have used this exact card to continiously bit pattern from an array I streamed out a 500,000 sample stream out at 10MHZ and read back a 8MHz and parsed the data.  Look at the daqmx examples.  essentially you want to write the array to the buffer and set it up for ALLOW REGENERATION on the write property and Continious on the sample clock. Look at the following examples:
Hardware IO>>daqmx>>digital generation>>Continious Write Dig Port-Ext Clk generation.
this sounds like what you need, a continious digital pattern generation using an external clock.
Also see the non regeneration example. you can change the pattern on the fly.
I would not use traditional daq since is is very outdated and probably will not be supported in the future.  DAQMX is much better.

  • Which is better, many PXI cards or fewer PXI cards with more SCXI cards?

I have a pretty basic question.  Which is "better", using multiple PXI cards for analog inputs or a single PXI card and multiple SCXI cards?  For example, if I have say 100 channels to sample (all at the same rate), I could use 2 6225s at 80 ch each.  Or I could use 1 6220 and 4 SCXI 1100s (32 ch each).  What are the pros and cons with either approach?  Keep in mind sample rate probably isn't an issue (less than 1 kHz) but it is the same for all channels.
    Thanks.

The pros/cons will depend on your application now and in the future.  I recommend contacting your local NI sales representative.  Synchronizing across a PXI system is easy to do via the backplane.  There are PXI/SCXI combo chassis available, you could use PXI multifunction DAQ cards and then SCC for signal conditioning for thermocouples for additional functionality later.  There are many possibilities that may be best discussed with your sales representative.

  • PXI-6682 + multiple Serie S & M cards cause timestamp delay

I'll try to give as much info as possible and hopefuly someone will have an answer to this problem.
    Language: C++
    Introduction:
    1- I have (1) PXI-6682 (Timing card), (6) PXI-6143 (Serie S (8 analog inputs each)), and (2) PXI-6224 (serie M (8 analog inputs each))
2- Every card is a task (so that's 8 tasks
3- Every card is in sync (they give data equal...more or less... to one another
    PROBLEM:
1- Timestamp is off by up to 200 ms (not drifting...simply off by a set number of ms)
2- Every call to niSync_ReadMultipleTriggerTimeStamp gives me a timestamp off by that much
I don't have any info on how the tester managed to know it was 200 ms off, my theory is he tested it with some older equipment to validate the new one

    Hello there,
Kindly help me with DAQmx Time stamp related problem as described below.
    Setup : PXI 6133 Qty 4 (Slot 3, 4, 5, 6)
    PXI 6255 Qty 1 (Slot 2)
PXI 6255 doing a Continuous Acquisition at 1 mSec Sampling and 1000 samples/iteration.
PXI 6133 doing a Ref Triggered Acquisition at 1 uSec Sampling interval and Pre and Post Trigger samples of 100000 Samples each.
Test : PXI 6133 - Reference Trigger Configured on PFI 1 line of First PXI 6133 card.
input Signal given to AI 0 OF First PXI 6133 card.
All PXI 6133 cards are included in a single task.
PXI 6255 - Input given to Channel 0 AI
External Function generator - One Digital Trigger generated of width 50 mSec High Interval.
Another signal generated for input to above cards. (Square wave of 10 mSec Period - 5 periods generated on the rising edge of trigger)
So It means When I acquire square wave in my waveform, I can consider rising edge of square wave as a rising edge of trigger (as both signals are generated aligned from external function generator)
I have attached Screenshots and programs I have used for that.
Problem: As both singal are generated at a same event, Both 6133 and 6255 should acquire that singnal at a same timestamp.
I have also read related documents about timestamp but I could not succeeded to find any link in this.
I am getting square wave 100 msec earlier in 6255 then of 6133.
If I used only single card of 6133 then that inaccuracy of 100 msec is shifted to 25 msec.
Please help me as soon as possible.

  • Calibrating PCI cards using Calibration Executive?

I am currently calibrating PXI cards using Calibration Executive (3.2.2) and a PXI-1050 Chassis, my company is getting ready to start buying PCI cards, specifically PCI-6542 and PCI-6713. What additional equipment will I need to purchase so that I will be able to calibrate the PCI cards? If the PC I am currently using does not have enough slots to accomodate additional cards is it necessary to buy another PC or is there a chassis that will let me calibrate the PCI cards outside of a PC?

    Hi Rick,
I went ahead and answered your other thread here.  We like to keep the questions on our forum to one thread to make it easier for future customers to search.
