• SAN certificate for external access for edge server and reverse proxy

Hello
I have a question related to the certificate planning for LYNC 2013 EDGE SERVER .
For external access and mobile user's , Iwant to enable all the feature for external user's .
im planning to purchase san certificate ,
my first question do I need only one SAN for both my edge server and the reverse proxy ?
my second question about the name's that shoud be added to the certificate ?
sip.mydomain.com
av.mydomain.com
webconf.mydomain.com
what else I should add ? I want to add the names for all feature access.
Kind Regards
MK

Your Front End Pool should only contain front end servers, does it also contain your edge and back end? If so, this is a misconfiguration.
If you're planning to implement high availability, you'll want a different internal web services FQDN name than your pool name (unless you load balance the entire pool with a hardware load balancer).
You'll want your external web services FQDN to be different from your pool name if you want to use the mobile client on the internal network. Once you've come up with a new and otherwise unused FQDN for this purpose, you'll want that as additional
SAN on your cert.
Since you're not using this for the internal certificate, you can also pull admin.mydomain.com and LYNC2013-FE.mydomain.com off of the cert as those are needed internally only.
Lyncdiscoverinternal you can leave on if you need your internal mobile clients to not throw certificate errors because they don't trust your internal certificate authority, but this name would then need to be pointed to a reverse proxy or something that
can present the third party certificate.

• Office Web Apps Server Certificate For External

Hi guys,
I am requesting a DigiCert certificate for my environment Exchange 2013.
Can I include the SAN name for Office Web Apps server, such as externalowa.domain.com in to the Exchange generated certificate?
From theory wise it seems logic, but kind of uncertain.
Thanks and Regards,
Low.

Hi Nithyanandham,
Thanks for the prompt reply
I will just list down what I did to be more clear.
I generated a CSR from Exchange 2013 with the following
Webmail.domain.com - for Outlook Web Access, Outlook Anywhere, ActiveSync
Autodiscover.domain.com - for AutoDiscover purposes
Can I include the externalowa.domain.com, which is for Office Web Apps server
Reason is because the Exchange server and Office Web Apps server is located differently. Am I doing the correct way?
Thanks and Regards,

• Lync Edge functional for external client but federation is not working

Hi,
I am working on Lync Edge Server from couple of weeks but unfortunately, I can't federate with Skype and other partners. First of all I want to mention following things:
1. Lync 2013 Front-End Server is fully functional for Internal Users
2. Lync 2013 Reverse Proxy is fully functional for Mobile Users
3. Lync 2013 Edge Server is fully functional for External Users except Federation.
Let me share Edge Server current configuration with you.
1. Lync Edge Pool have two NICs, Internal (Private IP) and External (3 Public IPs with default gateway and External DNS)
2. Host File have entries for Lync front-end server
3. Local CA certificate for Internal Interface and Starfield CA Certificate for External interface with required SAN e.g., acs.domain.com etc
4. Skype is searching my domain URIs but added contact is showing offline in skype
5. Lync 2013 Basic client is showing Presence Unknown for Skype contacts (Skype contacts already merged with Live ID)
6. Test-CSFederatedPartner cmdlet is also giving 504 error while testing from Front-end server.
This is production environment actually so please let me know if I am missing something.

Verify that you configure SRV Record on External DNS {SRV Record _sipfederationtls._tcp.<domain> on port 5061 and SRV Record _sip._tls.<domain> on port 443}
Also Verify that you enable lync federation on Lync topology and publish it
On a Front End server, open Topology Builder. Expand Edge pools, then right click your Edge server or Edge server pool. Select Edit properties.
In Edit Properties under General, select Enable federation for this Edge pool (Port 5061). Click OK.
Click Action, select Topology, select Publish. When prompted on Publish the topology, click Next. When the Publish is finished, click Finish.
On the Edge server, open the Lync Server Deployment wizard. Click Install or Update Lync Server System, then click Setup or Remove Lync Server Components. Click Run Again.
At Setup Lync Server components, click Next. The summary screen will show actions as they are executed. Once the deployment is done, click View Log to view available log files. Click Finish to complete the deployment.
For configuration of lync federation, you can check blow link

the iPad 2 does not have dictation, but there are apps out there for that. Dragon Dictation is one of the more popular ones.
As to the keyboard, it's a personal thing. SOme love it and never need an external one, others can't stand the on screen keyboard. Hand size, dexterity, etc, all come into play. (I got an external simply because it bugged me to have to toggle to another screen or hold down a key to get a ' )

I imported some 24P HD videos from my DSLR to Aperture but these videos do not show up in iMovie '09 for editing purposes. Although my previous 24P HD Videos from iPhoto '09 show up. Why can't I access these videos stored in Aperture library? I assumed that like the videos in iPhoto, I would be able to access the videos in Aperture through iMovie. Come on Apple! I am starting to get frustrated with your products here. And this is saying a lot when I have been using and loving apple products for the last 4 years.

Hi. My camera is a Canon 600D. And yes my videos are stored in the Aperture library and they are not referenced. Even then I tried to select all the videos in Aperture and clicked 'consolidate masters' and there was a messge that said all 'none of the files are referenced',... so they didn't need consolidating.
I also tried preferences> export> external video editor > choose > iMovie. And then right click on the video to edit with imovie. Even then the video didn't show up in iMovie. It seems like the only option for me is to import the videos directly to iMovie which means there will be two versions of the same file stored in my computer eating up space.

Hi,

Hi Informus,
Please check if it is allowed in AllowedOOFType of the Remote Domain *
In Exchange 2013, the only way to see or change the current configuration for automatic replying and forwarding to the Internet is via the Exchange Management Shell (EMS) with PowerShell commands.
To get the currently configured Remote Domains, use:
Get-RemoteDomain
Name DomainName
AllowedOOFType
Default *
External
Get-RemoteDomain Default | fl AllowedOOFType, AutoReplyEnabled, AutoForwardEnabled
AllowedOOFType : External
AutoReplyEnabled : False
AutoForwardEnabled : False
To change the settings, use the Set-RemoteDomain command.
Enable automatic replies
Set-RemoteDomain -AutoReplyEnabled $true
Enable automatic forwards
Set-RemoteDomain –AutoForwardEnabled $true
Enable OOF for Outlook 2003 and previous (for Exchange 2007 and 2010 support)
Set-RemoteDomain –AllowedOOFType $ExternalLegacy
To change all these properties at once, you can use:
Set-RemoteDomain Default -AutoReplyEnabled $true –AutoForwardEnabled $true –AllowedOOFType $ExternalLegacy
Note:
Valid settings for the AllowedOOFType property are:
External
This is the default and only allows for the new style OOF messages as introduced in Outlook 2007.
ExternalLegacy
This settings allows for both the new style and old style OOF messages and needs to be set if you want to enable external OOF support for Outlook 2003 as well.
None
This setting doesn’t allow for the use of OOF messages at all (both internal and external).
InternalLegacy
This setting only allows for internal OOF messages to be sent for all Outlook versions.

• F-53 ,payext message type IDOC for External System

Hi all,
We have an existing system for triggering the external payment advice created from F-43 through F110 T code. Now our users wanted to send the same Idoc with PAYEXT to be triggered from F-53 .
Is there any way to acheive the above. As I am new to Idoc , Kindly advice on this.
Thanks
Arjun.

why not
it is possible
you can use Business transaction events for this purpose.
keep a break point at BF_FUNCTIONS_FIND
this is the function module to find the business transaction events
and at the time of saving F-53 find the event number which is called
then go to TBE-31 table in SM30 and add your own custom function module which has the same template of the event which is called
and get the datas from the input parameters of the event
and using master_Idoc_distribute
just populate the required datas to be transfereed and activate the custom FM
it will work for sure.
cheers

• Production order usage for external vendors

Hi Guys,
I am working on a scenario where the company is orderiing to manufacture from external vendors involving different stages. There is no material sent to the vendor and the vendor manufactures the first stage and sends to next vendor, there are four stages involved.
We are planning to use production order for the purpose and 4 operations thorugh which 4 purchase orders will be sent to four vendors and services or materials will be posted. I am just thinking how the final GR for finished product will be posted to the inventory. The requirement is track the cost at each stage...
Please let me know of your thoughts on this...
Thanks and regards,
Sid

Hi
I dont think you will have any issues with the tracking of the cost and GR of the finished product.
You have 4 operations each resulting into a PO for different Vendors each component/service of the opertaion will be received against each PO that you might have issued and so will be the cost collected actual cost for each operation.
Final GR can be posted for the header material against the Production order. I would request you to complete a full scenario and review it with your FI/CO team for any issues. I dont think you will have any.
Please let us know if you need any more info
Thanks

• Standard or UUC/SAN certificate for RDS

I successfully deployed RemoteApp using self-assigned certificate.
Now is the time to replace it with Trusted one.
From what I found UUC/SAN certificate will allow to secure subdomains, unique domains and websites.
My RDS deployment is limited to one domain only.
Does wildcard certificate means that during certificate creation on Trusted site (ex GoDaddy) I will have an option to enter:
*.my_domain.com for a subject and then use it for any RDS server?
So it will be just a standard certificate with wildcard.
"When you hit a wrong note it's the next note that makes it good or bad". Miles Davis

Hi,
If you plan to have RD Connection Broker, RD Gateway, RD Web Access all on the
same server you can purchase a single-name certificate, which is much cheaper than a wildcard.
If you need a wildcard then you would purchase a wildcard certificate from the public authority, create your certificate request with a Common Name of *.domain.com, submit this to the authority, and then complete the request with the response.
For example, on your RD Web Access server you could open IIS Manager, select the server name in the left pane, double-click on Server Certificates in the middle, click Create Certificate Request. Fill out the information, select 2048 bits, etc., save
as a file. Open the file in Notepad, copy the request, then paste it into the appropriate box in the trusted authorities web site.
The public certificate providers have step by step instructions for creating a request for an IIS website and installing the resulting response. You can usually follow those if you are unsure.
Once you have your certificate installed on your RD Web server, open up certlm.msc, navigate to Personal store, right-click on the certificate and export it and its Private key as a .pfx file. This is what you will use to apply the certificate in Server
Manager -- RDS -- Overview -- Tasks -- Deployment Properties -- Certificates tab. You apply the certificate to 1 purpose at a time until you have all four purposes set to your new wildcard certificate.

• Creating an Azure VM from an existing snapshot, does not automalically create a certificate for remoting

Hi,
As the title says, I have problems with an Azure VM created from an image I captured of an Azure VM.
For easier deployment of my server I created one, running everything on localhost, such that I could take an image of it and re-deploy this image, by which I will speed up the process of creating a server substantially. However, this process requires me to
be able to remotely control the azure VM, such that I can reconfigure the server to use the new name.
My problem is that the certificate which is usually created automatically for me (under the cloud service on which the VM is created), is not created when I deploy a server on a new cloud service from this snapshot I have made.
Can anybody help me?
Thanks in advance!
Regards
Magnus

Hi Susie,
Sorry for the late answer, I've had a busy last week. Thank you for answering.
You're quite right. The scenario you describe is exactly what I've done. The reason for doing this is because I am creating a script for installing my company's product on an Azure VM. I am using powershel for this purpose and therefore I need to be able
to remote control it from powershell.
So far I manually transfered everything, but as it is ~70GB of files it takes alot of time. So I tried installing everything on localhost (which works perfect) and taking a snapshot of the machine, but when I spin a new Azure VM up from this image I need
to change a few database references and IIS settings in order to make it work. To do this I was hoping to be able to remotely control the machine with powershell, but since it does not create a certfificate I cannot do this.
Furthermore creating and uploading a certificate will, from my understanding, require me to install it on the server, which in turn will need me to manually do some work anyways, where as the whole idea of automating the process is lost.

• Certificates for Office 365 Hybrid Exchange 2010 Exchange Online v15

Certificates for Office 365 Hybrid Exchange 2010 Exchange Online v15
We need to set up a hybrid server to allow us to begin moving mailboxes to Exchange Online. We created a new Server 2012 R2 server with Exchange 2013 SP1 to act as our Hybrid server. Reading the literature leaves me with questions about what
certificates I need. My understanding is that the certificates in play on the on-premise Exchange 2010 servers don't need to be changed.
I've looked at the TechNet article "Certificate requirements for hybrid deployments"
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh563848(v=exchg.150).aspx
Certificate requirements for the new Exchange 2013 SP1 server are still unclear to me, I think the new server needs a SAN certificate with:
Hybridserver.domain.edu
autodiscover.domain.edu
EWS.domain.edu
Can anyone clarify?

Cert is required only if you want to deploy ADFS for SSO.
Otherwise you can use your existing Cert for all the Services
