QTL: Behaviour on Windows

I have used QTL files to link to QT movies on my site. The 'movies' are audio only (no images). Clicking on them on a Mac does the expected thing - the QT player launches and the mov file streams according to the settings in the QTL text. On Windows however, the QT file plays back 'full screen' - which is weird as there is no image, so the screen goes black, and refuses to go back to just the player until the stream has finished. I have set fullscreen="normal" but this makes no difference. If you have access to a Windows machine try this here:

Since your file contains no image the "href" link to your page will not work so I took that line out, too.
Any viewer can exit full screen mode by tapping the Escape key.

Not able to access Server Behaviours on Windows 8.1

I moved my Dreamweaver from a Windows Vista Computer to a Windows 7 Computer and the to Windows 8.1.
Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 are 64 bit
I am using ASP and MySQL
On the Windows 7 computer if I create a new ASP page, the Server Behaviour Plus Button is active, but on the Windows 8 computer the plus buttton is greyed out when I create a new page and I see the message to create a site for the file, chose a document type and set up a testing server.
If I open an existing ASP page which has a Recordset already created, then the Plus Button is active and I can add a new recordset
But if I want to add a parameter when creating a link on a form to submit, I am not able to create a parameter and am told to create a site for the file, chose a document type and set up a testing server.
I cannot find a reason why on Windows 8.1 there is a problem while on Wondows 7 there is no problem
To the best of my knowledge both computers are set up in the same way for Dreamweaver
I have tried creating a new site with new pages, but that does not solve the problem

Are you able to access the NAS via ip address? What is the result?
The connection can also be blocked by firewall or anti-virus installed in your system, so I suggest you temporarily disable firewall\anti-virus software, and check if issue persists.

Wrong File(parent, child) behaviour on Windows when child starts with one s

I've sent following problem report:
A DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM :
On Windows when relative path starts from one slash it should be resolved from current disk (not current directory). This behaviour should be preserved for Files constructed with constructor File(parent, child). So results of run "System.out.println(new File(dir, relPath).getAbsolutePath())" and "System.out.println(new File(relPath).getAbsolutePath())" should be identical when running program from directory "dir".

I have been analyzing your problem and it is not a bug but the intended behavior of the API.
The File(File,String) constructor includes this in the specification:
"If the |child| pathname string is absolute then it is converted into a relative pathname in a system-dependent way."
In the example provided here, the child path is absolute so it is converted into a relative path. This is the intended behavior.
My comments:
First, child pathname is not absolute. Even so, I don't understand why this guy contend that this behavior is correct.

270x Faulty behaviour after Windows boot

Hello i own a 270x from January 2014, the unit that im using is the 2º, the first one broke in the first 4 days of use.
Until now it was working fine, but yesterday when i was playing cs go, the screen freeze in 1 solid color, and i was forced to doa hard reboot to the pc.
After that, every time the Windows boots, the image in the bios and windows boot screen is fine, but after the that, when the windows load , the image freezes, sometime in a solid color, other times the image is full of artefacts or vertical strips.
The strange thing, is that in 2D mode (safe mode), the PC boots fine and the image doesn't distorts. I have tried to reinstall the drivers(v13 and 14), tried to run a linux live boot, tried the gpu in another PC(different mobo,psu,cpu,ram) and the behaviour is the same.
I suspect that the ram off the graphic card is faulty, does anyone in here have another suggestion i can try, before sending the card to rma.

New UI behaviour in Windows 8, can it be changed?

We are trialing Windows 8.1 in our work environment and of course my PC was the first one to get upgraded. =) I am having some... "discomfort" using Windows 8.1 and I wanted to see if any of the things I am having trouble with are settings or if
I am just stuck with it.
#1 WindowsKey + typing a command = 'search the internet for the command'
In Windows 7, if you hit the windows key and type telnet <ip address> and press enter a telnet box would appear immediately. In Windows 8.1 a search box pops up and asks you if you want to run the command telnet <ip address> or look at a bunch
of wacky articles about telnet on the internet.
#2 if you have an application open already and you try to launch a new instance of the same application from the 'Start' screen all that happens is the focus changes to the currently running application. For example, hit windowskey and type cmd and press
enter, a command prompt box appears. Do the same exact thing again and all it does is refocus on the existing command prompt. The same is true of remote desktop connections and I assume every other application.
Does anyone know if these behaviours can be changed? They are fairly inefficient productivity killers for people who do a lot of multi-instance stuff.

To your first "problem", there is no solution that I know of, I haven't actually thought about it myself until you mentioned it now.
But the second one can easily be solved. This was one of the first things I changed on my computers.
Open up regedit and go to HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ImmersiveShell\Launcher
Then create a new DWORD called DesktopAppsAllwaysLaunchNewInstance and give it a vaue of

Different behaviour on windows and linux

On a text field , I have attached a number converter, just to make sure that user enters the number else gets an error message.
Things looks fine but it behaves differently on windows and linux os.
When I am running this application on windows if user enters
123456.46, it is stored as it is i.e 123456.46 in MySQL db.
However, if run this on linux and if user enters 123456.46 then it is stored in MySQL db as 123456.460000000006402842700481414794921875
I am not sure where the problem is. Can somebody guide me about it.

Maximising Safari on a dual-monitor setup (GUI behaviour in Window XP Pro)

When I maximise Safari on the 2nd monitor of my two-monitor setup, it disappears off-screen (but its icon still remains in the XP taskbar) and I am unable to bring it back into the viewable area. Consequently, I have to close Safari and reopen it to continue.
When I maximise Safari on the 1st monitor it fills the screen as I'd expect.
Windows XP Pro

Confirmed on another Dell D610/Windows XP dual-monitor setup.
However, when I maximise safari on the secondary monitor it still appears on the task bar, enabling me to right-click and Restore the window (whereupon it reappears).

Cl_gui_frontend_services= gui_download - wrong behaviour with Windows UAC

Hello,
we are using the method cl_gui_frontend_services=>gui_download to store files on the presentation front end (Windows Vista with UAC).
When the user has no windows rights to the target directory and UAC is active, then the method gui_download stores the file in other directory (C:\Users\<USER_NAME>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Windows) and returns with sy-subrc = 0.
In our opinion this is a critical problem but SAP doesn't want to correct it.
What do you think about it?

thank you for your post but it's not an answer for my question. I know how to use 'gui_dowload'. The problem is, it works wrong with UAC and target directory, where you have no rights to write the file.

Strange disc utility behaviour with windows partition

Hi,
I have created a 30 gig partition for windows XP (FAT32) on my macbook, which all works fine, but back on the mac volume, I tried to make an additional 10 gig partition for which I planned to save all my audio work in Logic to. It appeared to create it fine, but the volume scheme was totally messed up in Disc Utility; i.e. the windows portion took up practically the whole scheme, there was 500 MB "unused" in gray, "Macintosh HD" had a tiny portion, which overlapped the blue used "system" part (also overlapped by the unused bit). I couldn't seem to fix this problem, yet doing command-i on all volumes gave the right numbers and it added up.
Has anyone else seen any strangeness? All I can think of is that bootcamp isn't too happy with additional partitions, so disk utility goes a bit mad so to speak! I know that bootcamp will only create a windows partition on a single un-partitioned volume. Essentially, I just wondered if I could make more partitions after installing a windows partition.

Before you get too alarmed I think what Zeny described is, potentially, a totally different scenario to yours and not entirely applicable. From your description it doesn't sound like your PowerBook currently has any of the symptoms commonly associated with hard drive failure.
That said it is possible that there may be a bad sector on the drive, which an erase whilst zeroing all data will resolve. At the same time it may also just be a software glitch.
Either way, it is worth giving the PB and hard drive a full check with the likes of DiskWarrior, Drive Genius, Apple Hardware Test, etc.

Different Swing behaviour in Windows & Linux

I have an IDEFIX Application(J2ee) whose Client is built on Java Swing.
Addtionally this application had to invoke an 3rd party Software.
On invoking the 3rd party Software from this application & on load
of the 3rd party Software.The Swing Behavior of the client
of IDEFIX Application behaves in a different way . for Eg : the
Disabled buttons are not visible ,enterlly the view becomes somewhat
differrnt & distorted.
IDEFIX Application invokes the 3rd party s\w through a Thread.
But The main problem is that it works properly in Linux ,
The problem arises in Windows system.

The glitchs happen when I run the code in windows. First off when I press the quit button in linux the actionlistener picks up that I hit the quit button and makes a new instance of QuitPopup which simply sets itself to visible. I'm using the default layout manager and on linux the popup window simply comes up in a seperate JFrame and I can click the buttons on it etc..
In Windows, using the same code when I press the quit button I see the QuitPopup instance come up but it is like it is drawn ontop of the first JFrame. There is no border and the buttons inside of the QuitPopUp() JFrame don't work. When you move your mouse over them the buttons in the original JFrame appear to "come through" and erase the pop-up's graphics.
For borders on the first JFrame I'm using a no-border full-screen JFrame. For the popup I'm using the default border.
I'm using the default font on both.
Also For the fullscreen JFrame in the background I'm using layeredPanes ontop of the JFrame. I have placed buttons inside of the layeredPanes and when I click on them the image I have set for the rollovericon action keeps flashing after I click on it. NOTE: the flashing buttons ONLY happens in windows.
Do you think trying a different layout manager rather than the default would work better?

Database behaviour after Windows XP resumes from "Hibernation"

I am considering the following power failure handling model:
1. Connect an APC UPS to PC;
2. Configure "PowerChute" and PC so to "hibernate" the PC in case of power failure on the mains;
3. Do NOT shutdown the Oracle DB before the hibernation.
4. Let the Oracle DB resumes from hibernation. No need to shutdown / startup the database instance.
Are the Oacle DB designed to work properly after resuming from Windows XP hibernation? Any documentation mentioning this scenario? I've do article hunting but in vain.

I haven't seen any documentation about this and I don't think I would plan for a production environment that has hibernation enabled but I hibernate my laptop all the time. I've nver had a problem with XE working after I resumed.
Normally, TOAD and/or SQL Developer will lose their connection. But that makes sense.

Highly Unstable behaviour of Windows 8.1

I have installed windows 8.1 Pro
Whenever my laptop is on charging and idle for 5 minutes it starts intensive disk activity and its temperature get very high.
After then it gets turn off .
Last day it was giving Blue screen with error message as Kernal_internal crash message.
It is really hurting my daily jobs

A bugcheck (BSOD) is a mechanism to protect your PC from damage.
To see the cause I have to take a look at the dumps with the Debugging Tools for Windows.
Please start the Windows Explorer and go to the folder C:\Windows\Minidump. Next, copy the dmp files to your desktop, zip all dmp into 1 zip file and upload the zip file to your public Skydrive [1] folder and post a link here.
If you can't see dmp files, make sure your Windows is configured correctly [2][3] to generate dumps.
If you want to analyze them your own, check those videos [4][5] and read this KB article [6].
The activity may come from the Idle maintenance. Try to disable the task inthe task scheduler.

Window style/behaviour of main B1 window

Hi
Unfortunately (why ever?!?), SAP did not use the default style for the main B1 windows and it always stays blue as when it has the focus even if it does not. This is very annoying and even does not adhere to common Windows programming.
Can I somehow change this behavior and have classical windows like appearance of the main B1 window?

No it is not the normal behavior of windows. Active windows are colored, inactive windows aren't colored.The SAP main window always is colored. Why or why not, i dont know.
How to change ? I think it is not possible to change, cause normaly window behavior is linked / compiled to the lib or exec´s. U see SAP is not linked to the libs for window behavior of i.e. WinXP, or something like that. It is the only way for explain the phenomenon.

Windows 8.1 MDM not responding to more than one SyncML from MDM server per session

Here is the behaviour i see, which was not expected by Windows 8.1.
1) Device is enrolled
2) Client initiates the connection with the MDM server defined in provisioning XML during enrollment.
3) MDM Server sends some commands as a SyncML response.
4) Client accepts the commands and sends Status and results.
5) Again MDM Server sends some commands as a SyncML response.
6) Client doesn't respond to these commands or not sending any SyncML. Here is the problem that i am referring to.
We are capturing the traffic in fiddler and found that device is not sending the next request where we are expecting the status for these commands.
The same is being repeated in all the requests client initiates. DM Client responds back only for one syncML sent by the MDM server per session.
Is this the expected behaviour with Windows 8.1? Or are we doing something wrong to see this behaviour?

Blocked pop up window

Hi,
Could someone help me with a pop up window problem. I'm new
to dreamweaver, and am currently trying to build my own site. On my
home page, i have a link which visitors click on to 'open up a new
window' which contains my main Flash site. I've created the link in
dreamweaver like i believe i should do, with new behaviour new
window etc. This all works fine, but the problems occurs when its
online, as when visitors click on it online it says 'POP UP
BLOCKED' and if visitors have pop ups blocked automatically then
the link will never work. Can anyone advise on how to get passed
the blocked pop ups or make this window not a pop up?
