Query Designer: Technical names activated as default

Hello everybody!
I work with the Query Designer v3.5. How can I switch on the technical names automatically. At the moment I must click on the menu item.
Regards, Thomas

Thomas,
The Technical Names icon is an on/off option. Once you turn it on it stays on til you hit it again.
This applies in the Query Designer, dialogue box for Open - Queries & Workbooks etc.

  • Query Displaying Technical Name instead of Description

    Hello,
Is there a setting in query designer that would cause the query technical name to display when the query is executed instead of the query description?  I am using BEx 3.5.  When I Save As the query to a different technical name and execute the description shows.  I would like the description to show as it does with all other queries.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks!
    Tina

    Hi Tina,
For me the most convienent way is to create a text variable with customer exit, not ready for input.
Assign this variable to Query description in properties of query. So you can be sure to see the current
technical name after saving  the query again,  without any additonal actions.
You could even combine this variable with any description desired.
Assuming variable created is  Z_COMPID,  please add code as follows to user exit:
    WHEN 'Z_COMPID'.
          L_S_RANGE-LOW  = I_S_RKB1D-COMPID.
          L_S_RANGE-SIGN     = 'I'.
          L_S_RANGE-OPT      = 'EQ'.
          APPEND L_S_RANGE TO E_T_RANGE.

  • How to change Query Description/Technical name of a query

<i><b>Hi</b></i> I have couple of questions with Query name changing.
<b>1)Is it possible to change the Technical name of a query?
    If Yes how?
2)I could change the description of a query but when the same query is saved in a role how to change its description?</b>
    <i><b>Thanks
    Ajay</b></i>

    hi,
open your query in query designer and use button 'save as' then you can change name description.
Remember that when you change technical name it will be completely new query and you will have to add it to your role.

  • While saving Bex query with Technical name, it says Query already existing

    Hi,
I am facing a problem. While saving a query withy its technical name (for example ZQYZMPR_01), it says that query is already existing. But when I search for the query in all tabs like Favourites, Roles, Infoprovider It is not found.
I also checked a view V_REP_JOIN. In this view I find Query (ZQYZMPR_01) in MODIFIED version.
I want to use my previous query instead of creating new one.
Suggest, how can I retrieve my previous query that I am unable to search for.

    Saurabh
Searching with descriptions may lead to confusion as there may be similar  descriptions to a query but just one technical name.  Check the query 'where used list' you may find answers.
Can you check the query in RSZCOMPDIR ? If the query exist here, it must be there in the system.  Do the search with exact technical name ZQYZMPR_01 or ZQYZMPR*, you should be able to find.  Do not search in specific areas like roles etc..search directly by inputting the tech. name.
Ferdinando - you can delete the query in RSZDELETE transaction.  While doing so, it will prompt for removal from all areas like roles, workbooks etc. Say 'yes' and delete, you will be able to assign the technical name to another query.

  • Find technical name of receiving query in RSBBS assignment

    Dear Experts,
under transaction RSBBS one can assign sender/receiver details. While the technical name of both sender and receiver are entered when createing the RRI, one can only retrieve a compressed ID (i.e. 46F28FNV1L4H1QENI1KKEKWUCAZPAOPRD) for the receiver in transaction RSBBS.
We would like to find a way to determine the technical name of that particular compressed ID. I have already searched the RSBBS* tables, but I cannot get past the compressed ID (field RONAM) in i.e. table RSBBSQUERY
    My question:
    - Can you provide me a table/view/program/transaction/... that shows the relationship between senders and receivers by means of technical query names (not ID's)?
    - Or can you provide me (step-by-step) the relation between different tables and fields that would allow me to do so?
    Kind regards,
    PJ

    Hi Simon,
thank you for your reply. I have researched your proposal, and I can indeed find the relation between my sender query's technical name ZSENDERQUERY_Q001 and the field RSBBSQUERY-RONAM that looks like this: 46U5CEI2BU3U8P8GZOFWWN3GKAZSD_C03 (Mind the name of the infoprovider at the end!).
This information can also be retrieved from transaction RSBBS, where I can enter 1 senderquery's technical name, and which returns me the associated RSBBSQUERY-RONAM values in the column "Receiver Object". Your contribution allows me to create a view to get this information for multiple sender queries from different cubes.
However, I would like to go one step further. From this RSBBSQUERY-RONAM value I would like to get the target/receiving query's technical name that looks like this "ZRECEIVERQUERY_Q002".
This is my ultimate goal as I need to delete all obsolete queries from the BI system, and the associated jumpqueries. Creating a single list by means of a view would help me a lot.
    Kind regards,
    Pieter-Jan

  • Technical names for drop down values through webui

Hi All, I have ECC 6.0 (SAPKH61705) transactions being launched in CRM 7.0 (SAPKU71305) through the transaction launcher. We are able to display technical names for values in ECC through the gui, and in CRM in both the gui and webui. Is it possible to display the technical names for ECC through the webui? Apologies if this is not the correct forum, I was not sure where to post. For further clarification of the issue, I hope these screen shots assist: ECC gui with 'display technical names' activated: qui - tech names on.jpg CRM webUI with 'display technical names' activated in both ECC and CRM: webui - tech names not visible.jpg Assistance appreciated.

    Hi Amy,
    Yes, it's possible.
You can achieve it by coding. Instead of passing only the description to your drop down values, we can send technical name and description simultaneously to your drop down value. That's it.

    RAM.

  • BW 7.0 - Technical names in query designer

    Hi colleagues,
is there any possibility to set an default value for the technical names in the query designer. Every time I open the query designer, the system shows me only the "text" for the query elements and not the key.

The "functional enhancement schedule" document now describe the single query refresh within a workbook to be available in Stack 14.
The link also need to be check very often. (I got a version 12.3 from 08/06/2007 which planned enhancement to SPS13 whereas version 12.5 from 28/06/2007 plan it to SPS14)

  • Technical name for formula in query designer

    Hi,
We have created some formulas in Query Designer.
We tried to assign the technical names to these existing formulas, it goes away as the save button on the top of the pop up is disabled.
Is there a way to assign technical names of the formulas created in the query designer.
    Regards,
    Charu

    Charu Pandey,
Formulas are local, means available for particular queries only. No technical name.
Create Calculated keyfigures instead of formulas..., so you can save with technical names.
To display technical name in query, give discription same as technical name.
    Hope it Helps

  • How to get the query design element meaning with the technical name ?

In BI 7.0 query designer, we got error msg in Transport Connection like:
    Object 41PPHH3DICYQ56L2XJGXDRSMT is already being
    edited by user_id
    Choose 'Display object' or 'Cancel'.
How to check what design element is for 41PPHH3DICYQ56L2XJGXDRSMT?  And what could cause the above error?
We will give you reward points!

You can collect the query and its elements in the transport connection. The under the technical name you will find this and the element.
    Hope this helps.

  • How to find the link between strcture and query technical name

    Hi Guru's
How to find the link between Strcture in the query and query technical name. In other way where used list of the structure  used in queries?
I know we have table called RSZELTDIR which have the values of strcuture name. from here i do not find any link to query technical name.
    Please can anyone help me?
    Regards,
    Sirisha

    Hi ,
For structure and query relationship, the structure has to be a reusable structure( a global one). Then you can right click in on the structure name (in BEX query designer) and select the where used list. You will find all the query names where it is being used.
U can also check out tables RSRREPDIR and RSZCOMPDIR for other query properties.
    Thanks,
    Amit

  • Is It  POSSIBLE to change the Technical Name of Z-version Query

    Hi  Friends ,
I was changed all quereis and cube from standard version to Z version.
For queries, by using rszc , i was changed to Zversion,Now again is it
possible to change the Technical Name of Zversion Query ?
If possible , can you please tell me the process ?

    Hi Hameed,
This may be the reason you are getting an error.
The target InfoCube, the InfoCube for the query copies, must contain all the InfoObjects of the source InfoCube (InfoCube of the original queries).
The another reasons may be the copying of queries within the same cube shouldn't be done by RSZC.
It's better to approach the Bex Query designer.
    Hope you understood..

  • Bex Query calc key figures in Crystal report not showing technical names.

    Hi,
I have created calculated key figures in a BEx query for which the data comes from a SAP BW cube. I have assigned each of the calculated key figures a proper technical name which I expect to see when I bring it to crystal report. When I bring that query in Crystal as a data source the calculated key figures show a wier network id names instead of the technical names. I am having a problem in using those wierd technical name in my report and my formula's as I am not able to identify what is what.
    Please urgent help requested.
    Thanks
    Mahendra

I dont have an account on such website. I will explain u the problem in detail.
When I create a calculate key figure in SAP BEx query designer I assigned a technical name to it, a meaningful one. In my case one such example is Actual_revenue is the name that i have assigned and the description is Actual revenue. When I create a crystal report from it and in that report if i create a formula.
    I get this {ZIC_COPA_Z_SALES.[Measures]-[25V1KYL4VE92X0T4OMHVYM90V]}
If u see it its a wier 25 digit name.
Instead of this I want to see
{ZIC_COPA_Z_SALES.[Measures]-[ACTUAL_REVENUE]} which is what I have given in the query. I am using the SAP BW MDX driver to connect to Bex query.

  • Find technical name of query if only internal is given (and delete it)

    Hello,
a query has a readable name like "Invoice for north pole customers", a technical name like "Z_MM_CUST_NPOLE" and an generated internal name like "4BUI9VVDT8A057L8G3BQ4IN4G".
When I search which queries belong to an old multiprovider, I only get the internal query names like "4BUI9VVDT8A057L8G3BQ4IN4G". I cannot search with this internal name in the BEx Query Designer nor can I search there using the InfoArea folder (I can only find one query instead of two queries).
How do I find the technical name like "Z_MM_CUST_NPOLE"?
Apart from that, I cannot delete the query in the BEx Query Designer ("Delete" is inacitve (gray)).
The query seems corrupt. Can I delete a query in the SAP GUI (rsa1 or something like this)?
    Best regards
    Thomas

    Hi Thomas,
You can delete the Query in BIW GUI by using T Code RSZDELETE.
After that u get a screen where u enter the
    Type :- REP
    Object Version :-A
Technical Name as :-"The Tech name of the Query"
    Leave the other Rows Blank.

  • APD - error when activating, problem: 7.0 variable with long technical name

    Hello everybody!
I have got the following problem:
I created an APD, with one filter on 0calday using a variable. This variable was created on our own and works without any problems. It's a 7.0 variable with a long description "W_E_M_0CALDAY_WDLAS"
If I try to activate the APD I get an error message "Analysis Process Has Errors, Activation Is Not Possible" and "Variable W_E_M_0CALDAY_WDLAS does not exist actively". But this variable is active!
My colleague told me, that there seems to be a problem with long technical names of variables in APD. I tried to find a SAP note to this topic, but I didn't.
Had anyone else this problem? How was it solved? Or are there any SAP notes I didn't find?
    Thanks for your help!
    Bettina

In the meantime I copied the variable to a shorter name, but it still doesn't work. I tried it with a 3.x variable and a 7.0 variable. In the exit I first added an OR condition to the when-case, but this didn't also help. Afterwards I copied the whole coding in a separate when-clause.
Stil not successful. Factory calender is OK. The variables also work in a normal query but not in the APD - the result of the last workday is always '00000000'.
    Any ideas?
    Kind regards,
    Bettina
