Query is hanging on filter value

Hi..
In production, we are having BEX issues when trying to filter on a characteristic. The session either hangs or shortdumps. In SM50, it looks like the session is hung reading table /BI0/0300409094.  I cannot determine what this table is tied to.  I assume it is a master data SID table.
Is this a database table index issue?  How do I resolve or determine the cause?  I cannot view this table in SE11.

Hi Stephen,
I guess you are trying to restrict the characteristics by choosing from one of the available values and system hangs when u choose from one of those values.
Instead in rows, filters etc..choose your characteristic , right clisk> restrict and directly give the value for filtering.
This will avoid the time to show all values of master data and than choose from one of them.
Reward if it helps,
Ajay

  • Query Bex direct input filter value doesn't work

    Hi experts,
when I use a bex report and direct insert a value in filter on the left; the report doesn't execute the request.
For exemple I would like to filter a value in 0COSTCENTER; I inserted direct value on the filter cell and the report doesn't return the aspected value.
How I can resolve this issue?
The query is based on planning level.
    Thank you for any answers.

    Hi Leszek,
At the left I digit a value for “Centro di Costo” (0COSTCENTER); for exemple I want to digit the value 8213-01 (or IT01/8213-01) and then 'enter'... The report does a refresh but then don’t execute the filter.
The same procedure runs without error if I select the value from menu “select filter value”.

    Hi,
If you want to copy list item with Person column to another list, here are two solutions for your reference:
1.Use SharePoint Designer workflow to create item in another list when there is item added in the current list, there is a workflow action “Create List Item”
will meet your requirement. The string in Person column will still be a hyperlink in the other list and you can apply filter on it.
    Workflow actions quick reference

2.Use JavaScript Client Object Model to copy item to other list, you can put the script into a Content Editor Web Part.

  • How to retrieve dynamic filter value submitted from control query to .....

How to retrieve dynamic filter value submitted from control query to broadcast query.....
I'm trying to change the hierarchy version determined by a userexit variable in the broadcast query.
The Hierarchy Version should be dependent on the input filter delivered by the bursting query.
But how do I catch the dynamic filter value which has been submitted by the bursting query,
with other words:  where does the bursting query store it's out put while sequentially starting the broadcast query value by value?
BTW: the filter value from the bursting query appears under "dynamic filter values" in the information of the broadcast query...
    Any thoughts are welcome!

    Further information,
Report is used via webi only, not Xcelsius or Dashboard.
Report is consuming BI Web Services.
Although we can pass in prompt values to BI Services, I couldn't find if we could pass a variable or dimension object into this field. Anyone knows?

  • Values missing in Navigation block - Select filter value

    Hi Experts,
I'm using navigation attribute in query. Query is built over multiprovider. Navigation attribute in query is ZCOMPAN01__ZSALES_RG. In multiprovider I use two cubes as sources and from first cube I assigned nav. attribute ZCOMPAN01__ZSALES_RG and from second cube I assigned SCUSTSAL1__ZSALES_RG.
When I click in query on funnel to Select filter value I don't see all values which are displayed in query (I see only values from first cube). But when I write the value directly to filter, it is regulary selected. Also I can right click on value in query and set Select filter value, after that I see in filter block all values (from both cubes).
I tried to change all possible Business Explorer setting of infoobject ZSALES_RG (eg. Only values in infoprovider/ only posted...etc.). I also tried to change setting of navigation attribute (right click on nav. attribute in multiprovider - Provider-Specific Properties), but without success. SID table of infoobject contains all values which I need.
Do you have any hint how to see all used values in Select filter value?
    Thanks in advance
    David

    Hi Murali,
Thank you for the response but we know how to set the value, the option is checked and the Select Filter Value still does not show on the context menu during execution. I think the issue is related to a default user exit variable that we use to pre-select a date but still want to be able to navigate and filter other characteristics during execution. There seems to be something to this combination that BW does not like.
    Thanks again,
    Rick

  • Select filter value..not opening..query hanging

    Hi,
I have a queary and it is executing fine. After executing it is displaying data fine. I have company code and two more characterstics in free characterstics section. After executing the report i am doing right click at company code in the excel sheet and selecting the option 'select filter value'. It is then opening the small screen 'selection for company code' but it is not displaying the values. It's keep on running and after some time it is hanging (not responding).
In the company code object hardly there are 60 values. Can anyone tell me why this is taking long time and result in hanging for just 60 values?
This company code object is Authorisation relevant checked in the 'Business Explorer' tab. There is a variable used for this comopany code in the query design and this variable is processed by authorisation. But i dont think this is the reason for the issue. If this is the reason could you please tell me how it effects? Please suggest me the solution.
    Many Thanks in advance

    Hi MA,
    Thanks for your immedieate reply.
In the business explorer tab for which one you are asking to change the settings?
Is it for   'query def. filter value selection'
                              OR
                 'query execution filter value selection'?
    The current status is:
Query Def. filter value selection is 'values in Master data table'                 &
Query Execution filter value selection is 'only posted values for navigation'.
This is not cube but this is ODS. For ODS where do we set DB specfic settings?
    Thanks in advance

  • Query Definition Filter Value Selection

    Hi BW Experts,
This is regarding a navigation attribute restriction while defining a query.
When we are defining a query on multiprovider / basic infocube and trying to put a restriction from the context menu on a navigation attribute, the screen is hanging and the fixed values for restriction are appearing after 5 to 6 minutes.
While it should not take so much time, it should ideally display it in few seconds.
This is happening for all the navigation attributes.
Please share if anybody has faced this problem before or any suggestions regarding any settings at Infoobject, Basic cube or Multiprovider level.
Any relevant input would be highly appreciated and appropriate points would be awarded.

If Webreports check the command "Read Mode" in WAD -> NAVIGATIONBLOCK

    -> Posted Values = slow

  • A filter value for Query is set with some value automatically

    Hello SAP sourcing Guru!
I created a query which has several filters.
Some of Filter's type is VLV.
When I preview the query somehow the filter values are already set with some value even though I did not set the default value.
For example, filter name is Region and there are four regions: Asia, NA, Europe, and SA.
I want to select one of them from drop-down menu. But Asia was already selected when I clicked the preview button for the query. I want to see "Please Select" instead of Asia from drop-down menu. I did not select "Prefill value from cache" for the filter. I made the filter Optional only. I did not set Default Value either for the filter.
    Any clues?
Thank you for your response in advance.

    Hi,
In the Default value field of the filter prompts, you need to mention the Class Reference ID of the corresponding field. E.g., if you have Contract document phase as a filter, then in that if you want to display a blank or none value, then you should use null:2016.
Similarly for vlv type, the system has a value 616. Hence if you want to display a None value insteead of Asia, use the following in the Default value field:
    0:616:null.
The way to find the class reference ID is to goto the RG > Class Reference > Look for the field that you are attempting to default on.
    Hope this helps,
    Vikram

  • Multiple exclusion of query filter values

    Hello,
We are trying to find a way to do a multiple selection of non consecutive values (codes) to be excluded for further navigation, but either in Excel or Web reports it is only possible to do selections for exclusion one by one and when there are many non consecutive values, it is very time consuming and subject to errors.
Example: for listing customers that buy Material 1 but don´t buy Material 2, filter value 2 for Material, display all customers, then perform an exclusion of all the customers displayed, could be many, then the need of the multiple exclusion, and then do a Material selection for Material 1.
We appreciate any help on this subject.
    Regards
    Gustavo Sanson

    Hi Gustavo,
I think you can use precalculated value sets for this.
    I would leverage your example.
You would have a base query 'X' which displays all customers for which material2 ws sold foar a certain period.
This report will run in the background and fill the variable which is of precalculated value set type.
For this you will have to use broadcasting.
Create a broadcast setting for this base query X, name it customers for material 2.
Configure the broadcast setting to refer to characteristic customer for getting the multiple values.
Create a variable for customers in your actual quey and select its type as precalulated variable set.
Now when you run the actual query, you will see the variable in the variable popup and if you choose F4 value help, you will see your braodcast setting name, which is actually the precalculated value set.
    Use the operator to exclude.
One advantage with precalculated value set is , you can dynamically generate this list of multiple values at run time and for every period. You can schedule the broadcast setting to calculate the value set at whatever frequency you desire.
Check the link below for more explanation on precalculated value set.

  • Selection of Filter Values for Query Execution -Only Values in InfoProvider

I created a query based on an ODS. For the query charateristic 0NFCAT_CODE a variable was created by me. To the time of query execution F4 shows all values available in the charateristic, but only values available in the ODS are expected.
The characteristic 0NFCAT_CODE is a reference characteristic to 0CAT_CODE. 0NFCAT_CODE is compounded with 0NFCAT_TYPE (reference to 0CAT_TYPE) and 0NFCAT_GRP (reference to 0CAT_GRP). All characteristics 0CAT_CODE, 0CAT_TYPE and 0CAT_GRP are set to “Query Def. Filter Value Selection” =  “Only Values in InfoProv” and “Query Execution Filter Val. Selectn” =  “Only Values in InfoProvider”.
Could anybody give me a help? Thanks in advance.

  • Hide Query filter values and column width default

    Hello Everyone,
In our query definition we have default filter(restriction) values.  When query is output it shows these filtered(restricted) values.
Is there anyway to hide these?  We dont' want users seeing this.
Also, the column width defaults to the largest output in the column (Excel standard).  Is there anyway to override this?  I tried in a workbook to set the column width to a certain width, but the query did not read this?
    Thanks so much,
    Colleen

    Hi Colleen,
To set column widths, use the BW Properties dialog.  In Excel, select any cell that is part of query definition, right-click ... you should now see a context-specific dialog.  The last option in the dialog is always Properties.  Go to the Column width tab and pick from there.
For the filter values ... you should be able to delete these cells and they should not re-appear (unless someone goes to the BW toolbar and selects Layout >> Display text elements).
    Hope this helps.

  • Query Def. Filter Value Selection

    Hello,
We upgraded our BW Dev application from 3.0(b) to 3.5
When I go into Bex Query Designer and I want to see the values for my InfoObject: 0FISCPER, I see old values
    Low Value: Period 15 2001     02/015/2001
    High Value: Period 16 2005    02/016/2005
I am used to seeing 'Only values in InfoProvider'
I can get those values to display when I click 'Display other Values' and then check the box for 'Only Values in InfoProvider',  But that should be the default, since in my InfoObject I have the Parameter: Query Def. Filter Value Selection set to 'Only values in InfoProvider'
Can some one help me, or am I misunderstanding something here.
This behavior works as expected on our BW 3.0(B) production box that has not yet been upgraded to BW 3.5
    Thanks for your help!
    Nick

    Hello,
i have found a workaround for this issue.
I investigated the underlying tables for the InfoObject "Business Explorer" properties tab.
I found that the fieldname for that data Element in question (Query Def. Filter Value Selection) was RSF4DEFAULT.
I went to SE11 and entered RSF4DEFAULT as the 'Data Type'  I then clicked the icon for "Where-Used List",  I checked the box for 'Table Fields' and clicked OKay.
It came back with the following tables: RSDCHABAS and RSDDPA.
I went to SE16 and looked at RSDCHABAS for the characteristic (CHABASNM) 0FISCPER on my Development system and compared it to my Production system.
On development I saw we had the 'Active', 'Delivered', and 'Modified' version of the object, so I scrolled to the right to see the F4DEFAULT field value, it listed M, D, D respectively.
I checked out that table on Production and saw it had D, D, D.
So even though in the GUI for the infoObject I was seeing the correct selection, the corresponding base table was wrong.  So I set the infoObject to Master data values and activated.
i looked at the underlying table again and it displayed M this time, So I went back to the infoobject and set it back to 'Only values in infoprovider" and activated the object.
Now I went back to teh underlying table and it reflected the value D in F4DEFAULT for the Active version.
When I went back to Query designer the default filter worked as expected!
So that is the work around. How the GUI became inconsistent with the DB tables is another question.

  • Authorization check for Selection of Filter Values for Query Definition

I am looking for a solution to the following problem:
Assuming you have confidential master data in your development system.
How can I protect a query developer to see only master data values, that he is allowed to see when e.g. creating a restricted key figure.
I know that you can enable a setting in the "Business Explorer" tab that says "Query Def. Filter Value Selection". The help says:
This field describes how the selection of filter values and the restriction of characteristics function when you define queries.
The values from the master data table are normally displayed when you restrict characteristics. For characteristics without a master data table, the values from the SID table are displayed instead. In a number of cases, however, it could be better to display only the values that are in the InfoProvider. The setting "InfoProvider Values Only" is permitted for this reason.
This would almost do it, but it can be overwritten in the BEx Query Designer.
Is there a way of preventing Query Developers from seeing all InfoObject values when creating restricted key figures?
    Thanks for your replies.

    Hi,
Thanks for the points. I am not too sure how you guys go about implementing SAP. Sorry I am not trying to be rude but you're not suppose to see any "real" data in DEV where all development takes place. You can't prevent query developers to see data. Without data there is no way they know their queries are right or wrong. Ask ECC guys to load dummy data to DEV environment that closely resemble those data currently in legacy e.g. real data. Sorry it was my mistake at the beginning when i thought it was preventing specific end users to see data that are not belong to them.

  • Query Def. Filter Value Selection - to master data wont activate

Hi, I want to change the info object properties Query Def. Filter Value Selection to select Values in master data, but when I try to activate it, it goes back to the old selection "only values in info provider" is this because there is data already loaded and so it wont allow me to change or is there anything simple I am missing ??
Reason being I do not want to delete the data to make this setting in the info object maintanence...

    hi ram,
Before u activate try "Checking" the Infoobject definition and see if you get any warning/error messages.
    Then try activating it.
    hope it helps,
