Query On Mode Of Communication For Adapters.

Hi All,
Kindly let me know which adapter is compatible to which type of communication or is it like all the adapters are compatible with either mode of communication.:
1) File:     Synchronous / Asynchronous
2) RFC:     Synchronous / Asynchronous
3) JMS:          Synchronous / Asynchronous
4) Mail:      Synchronous / Asynchronous
5) IDoc:      Synchronous / Asynchronous
6) JDBC:     Synchronous / Asynchronous
7) SOAP:     Synchronous / Asynchronous
Correct me if I'm wrong.

1.File: This adapter supports only Asynchoronous mode of communication.But if u want to use it in the combination of synchronous interfaces for instance (File 2 RFC 2 File) scenario .You have to go for BPMs where in we have to use SYNC-ASYNC bridge.
2.RFC: Supports synchronous and asyncronous Mode depending on the type of RFC that you are going to use(Syncronous or Asynchronous RFC).
3.IDOC: supports mpstly Asynchronous scenarios.But some times we have to deal with Acknoledgementes using additional configurations at system level.
4.SOAP: Its used in both Synchronous and Asynchronous .But in general we go for this adapter for Syncronous communication.
5.JDBC: suports both sync/async communication (Synchronous in case of fetching the data from the system)& (Async for updating data in the database).
6.Mail: supports asynchronous.
7.JMS: No idea.

Export in Query Ready mode not Working.for FR reports in HTML view

Hi,
When we run the FR reports in HTML view in Workspace,there is an option at the bottom to "Export in Query Ready mode",it's not exporting the report in Smart view excel .
But some of our users are able to export the report in SV.We are using EPM 11.1.1.3. I have checked the IE 7 settings with other users and it's same.
Does anybody has any idea what could be the cause?

It is the behavior, Query ready mode will only pulls the members which are in Essbase (no FR calculated fields)

Export in Query ready mode - Office 2010 not working

Hello everyone,
I am facing the following problem with Hyperion Financial Reporting:
When I display a Financial Reporting report in Workspace and click on "Export in query ready mode", a new Excel session is launched with an empty sheet and nothing else happens. Eventually Internet explorer displays a message "The application hasn't started yet. Do you want to wait?" This cycle repeats forever unless I close the small IE window that popped up.
We are using Windows 7 and Office 2010. The Smart View version is 11.1.1.3.500 (Build 008) and Workspace is version 11.1.1.3.0.956.
Would be very grateful if anyone can help me solve this issue as this function is very useful.

Alright,
There is some development with this problem, but unfortunately another one arose.
To solve the issue I had to disable the option "Protected mode" for the Internet Zone of Internet Explorer. Although the App server is on the local intranet, to launch Excel the web page uses the protocol oraclesv:// which appears to IE as "Internet" address.
When I disabled protected mode, some of the reports started to open normally in query ready mode. Unfortunately for some other reports Excel crashes. I.e. I open the report in workspace and click "Export in Query ready mode". I see Excel open up and the cells are filled in with members, etc. but at some point Excel just crashes and restarts. This can be destructive if I am currently working in some file.
And now the interesting part: I tried to find the reason why some of the reports are ok and some crash excel. It turned out that this depends on the amount of data in the report. For smaller reports (i.e. less than 50 rows) there is no problem, but for larger reports -> excel crashes.
I hope this explanation is helpful for someone else, as it took me quite a while to find the problem.

Purchase Order form in Query only mode for some users

Hi All,
I want to make the Purchase Orders form as query only for a single user. I tried by giving 'Query_only=Yes' in the parameters section. I am getting 'FRM-04151: You cannot query records here' message more than 10 time. I know we get this message and this is applicable to all the users. But this message is comming more than 10 times.
Is there anyway that I can restrict the Query only mode to a single user and please suggest about the message also.

Since you want to achieve this for one user only, I would suggest you create a new function/menu/responsibility and assign this responsibility to the user.

Appropriate Community for a Query

Being new to this community website I posted the following in the iWeb Community. I thought that referred to Apple's Website but as I was rebuked for posting there it clearly is not! Those who rebuked me for 'tresspassing' did not identify an alternative community.
Could anyone advise in which is the appropriate community for me to post this query?
Apple Contact Form: Email address area too small
I am not sure this is in the correct forum.
I have tried to use the contact form at http://www.apple.com/legal/contact/ to report a matter to Apple but the number of characters which the form allows me to put into the space for my email address is limited. The amount is too few for my email address.
Can anyone tell me why there needs to be a limitation on the number of characters for this aspect?
Can anyone tell me how someone like me - who has an email address longer than the alocated quota - can use this form or contact Apple by email?
As far as I know the Electronic Commerce (EC Directive) Regulations 2002 requires among other things that the email address of the service provider must be given. It is not sufficient to include a 'contact us' form without also providing an email address.

Can u explain me the functionalities of the options:
A-Query to read all data at once
X-Query to read data during navigation
H-Query to read when u navigate or expand hierarchies
I am not clear of the diff. bet. the X,H options....

1.      Query to be read when you navigate or expand hierarchies (H)
The amount of data transferred from the database to the OLAP processor is the smallest in this mode. However, it has the highest number of read processes.
In the following mode Query to read data during navigation, the data for the fully expanded hierarchy is requested for a hierarchy drilldown. In the Query to be read when you navigate or expand hierarchies mode, the data across the hierarchy is aggregated and transferred to the OLAP processor on the hierarchy level that is the lowest in the start list. When expanding a hierarchy node, the children of this node are then read.
You can improve the performance of queries with large presentation hierarchies by creating aggregates on a middle hierarchy level that is greater or the same as the hierarchy start level.
       2.      Query to read data during navigation (X)
The OLAP processor only requests data that is needed for each navigational status of the query in the Business Explorer. The data that is needed is read for each step in the navigation.
In contrast to the Query to be read when you navigate or expand hierarchies mode, presentation hierarchies are always imported completely on a leaf level here.
The OLAP processor can read data from the main memory when the nodes are expanded.
When accessing the database, the best aggregate table is used and, if possible, data is aggregated in the database.
       3.      Query to read all data at once (A)
There is only one read process in this mode. When you execute the query in the Business Explorer, all data in the main memory area of the OLAP processor that is needed for all possible navigational steps of this query is read. During navigation, all new navigational states are aggregated and calculated from the data from the main memory.
The read mode Query to be read when you navigate or expand hierarchies significantly improves performance in almost all cases compared to the other two modes. The reason for this is that only the data the user wants to see is requested in this mode.
Compared to the Query to be read when you navigate or expand hierarchies, the setting Query to read data during navigation only effects performance for queries with presentation hierarchies.
Unlike the other two modes, the setting Query to Read All Data At Once also has an effect on performance for queries with free characteristics. The OLAP processor aggregates on the corresponding query view. For this reason, the aggregation concept, that is, working with pre-aggregated data, is least supported in the Query to read all data at once mode.
We recommend you choose the mode Query to be read when you navigate or expand hierarchies.
Only choose a different read mode in exceptional circumstances. The read mode Query to read all data at once may be of use in the following cases:
      The InfoProvider does not support selection. The OLAP processor reads significantly more data than the query needs anyway.
         1.      Cache is Inactive (0)
The cross-transactional cache is deactivated.
The following modes are possible for the active cache: The cross-transactional cache is activated.
       2.      Main Memory Cache Without Swapping (1)
The cache data is stored in the main memory. When the cache memory has been exhausted, excess data is removed according to the LRU algorithm, i.e. deleted from the memory. When a query is subsequently requested, the result is read from the InfoProvider once again.
       3.      Main Memory Cache with Swapping (2)
The cache data is stored in the main memory. When the caching memory is used up, the excess data is written to a background and can be loaded back into the cache memory when making another request.
After query-relevant data has been loaded again, the background store can no longer be used.
       4.      Persistent Cache per Application Server (3)
The cache data is stored persistently as a database table or as a file in a directory attainable from the application server. We recommend that you choose a directory that is proximate to the application server.
When you save the cache data in a database table this puts a strain on the database. However, it is also then quicker to access uncached data in the database. In comparison to storing data in, for example, a star schema (see InfoCube), fewer tables are read and fewer indexes are accessed.
       5.      Cross-Application Server Persistent Cache (4)
The cache data is stored persistently as a cross-application server database table or file in a file system in the network, accessed from the application server. In this mode there is no displacement of data and no restriction on memory size. More space is required but this method also saves time.
¡        Database table: Strain is put on the database instance for the table.
¡        File: Strain is put on the network node operating system for the file.
¡        In addition, the application server that calculates the data and network communication has to be taken into account with both storage types.
If you do not make any other settings the OLAP processor determines the optimal initial size of the table SP, that is the memory structure in which data is held and processed in the OLAP processor (see Cache Structure). This is done after the first execution and again after a period of 31 days since the last optimization. It automatically generates a report afterwards.
In the Query Properties dialog box in the Query Monitor you can implement, modify of deactivate this function. Choose one of the following options:
·        Query is optimized after generation (0)
·        Query optimization with individual periods in days (1) Here you can determine the optimization period yourself.
·        Query optimization inactive (9)

Data entry form problem - form in query-only mode

Hi there,
I am trying to create an data entry form to insert recordacross 2 out of 3 tables. The last of the four tables already have details and does not need to have record inserted into.
This is the scenario, my four tables are Factory, Employee, Works_in. Works_in resolves a many to many relationship between Factory and Employee
Now for a person to be employed in a factory, he must be assigned to a factory.
I have a list of factories already in the database. After choosing a factory from the database, I want to insert records to do with his Fname, Lname, Hiredate bla, bla, bla to the Employee table.
I have a single form with Factory as the master, and 2 tabs each for Employee and Works_in.
After linking all my tables with the ability to choose a factory first on the master form from a combo box and after inserting records into the other forms, it says form running in query-only mode.
What do you think?

I think that's too much of the wrong information.
It sounds like you have multiple forms. Are they Modal or Non-Modal?
What code do you use to call the form that's not working?
Does it work initially and then stop working?

How to know that a form is running in query-only mode

I have a form that can run in query-only mode or non-query-only mode depending on the current user who logs in, and I want to change its apprearance dynamically when it's in different modes (for example, enable or disable buttons). Is there a built-in or system variable from which I know that the form is running in query-only mode or not?

The global variable solution is what we are using now. I thought there are some unpublished built-in or system variables. In my application, there is a public "menu" form from where hundreds of forms are CALLed with some in query-only mode and some in non-query-only mode depending on the current user role. :PARAMETER.QUERY_ONLY will always be 'NO' because the "menu" form is started in non-query-only mode. But it's good to know about it.

You can change the query read mode in transaction 'RSRT', here are the steps:
1) Access transaction RSRT and enter the query name
2) Select the 'Properties' option
3) Un-check the 'Info provider' setting next to the 'Read mode' --> This enables you to change the read mode of the query --> Execute
4) Choose the option 'Generate Report' to re-generate the query program

How to control attributes in 'Add Fields' in af:query Advance mode

Hi,
The VO attributes those set Queriable=false doesn't appear in the Add Fields dropdown in ad:query advance mode.
But I have few attributes in a VO those required to use in VO query so I cannot set those attrbutes Queriable as false.
Also observed that QBE doesn't work for the attributes whose Queriable set as false.
So can someone please suggest me how to achieve below,
VO attribute which having Queriable=true but doesn't appear in 'Add Fields' dropdown in af:query advance mode.

Thanks for your reply.
In ViewCriteria -> UI Hints we can set attribute Rendered Mode as never, but that perticular attribute still appear in 'Add Fields' section.
I think renderedMode=never means that attribute doesn't appear in Advance or Basic mode user need to manually select that attribute.
So please suggest me how to achive my requirement.

Query-only mode problem

Hello everybody, I'm a new user on this forum and in this thread I wanted to inform you about my problem and its solution.
Problem: everytime I created a form with 10g version on DB 9i, at the moment of "Run Form", I always run in this message "FRM-40208: Form running in query-only mode. Cannot change database fields.". Obviously I couldn't nor add a record nor edit it.
After some days spent searching for a solution, on this forum I read a post by an user talking about a very similar prob but not properly the same. Anyway, I decided to write an email to RV, an italian user who was very helpful in that situation.
In less than an hour, he wrote me back: "Check preference in menu forms builder, you'll find a tab, if checked it gives query only mode". He also write me to post the problem and his solution on the forum.
This morning he wrote me several mails telling me in a rude manner that I didn't posted the problem and not to write to him anymore.
So, I'd like to tell to Rosario: dear Rosario, I thank you for your solution, and I hope that in the future you will be so kind to give users also the time to write down the problem and solutions, as I am doing now.

I would mean only you, even if it is not worth of it, the time to write an email you have found, while the time to share the information,as I had told you, with the other forum's users, you didn't have for it.

In-Memory Query execution mode rendering results but "both" as execution mode do not.

I am facing this strange issue of fetching some rows based on my view criteria.
I delete some rows and make them as inactive. Then I search for those rows by using filter as "inactive" rows. I get the result as expected. But then, if I enter any other filed apart from inactive condition, I do not get that record even when that record is present in the list.
I looked out for the query execution mode for my VC based on which my rows are fetched. I found that if I keep the Query execution mode as "In-Memory" I am able to get the result but if I give the query execution mode as "Both", I do not get results even though the other factors are still same for it.
Due to model settings, I can't use "In-Memory" as the query execution mode.
I get the results properly after I commit my changes to DB,however.
How can I proceed here?

apparently the JDeveloper version you use does not work with "Both", which I suspect to be a bug. If you are on a latest version of JDeveloper 11g R1, JDeveloper 11g R2 or on JDeveloper 12c, please file a bug if you have access to customer support. If you are not yet on a latest version of JDeveloper, please try a newer version of your JDeveloper release.

Unwanted query execution after Find page for the second time

My uix page comes find mode. After user inputs the criteria and clicks the find button, related rows comes. That is ok.
But, if user not input critera then press the menu button or if user clicks new row then cancel adding new row by pressing menu button, All rows in db table queried and first ten rows are displayed. How can I avoid this action? dont want to query all rows.

Hi Tej,
The feature, "to hide or disable the option "Export In Query Ready Mode" has been introduced in Financial Reporting 11.1.2.3.
    Logon to EPM Workspace.
    Open menu File > Preferences > Financial Reporting.
    The new option, called "Disabled" is available for Query Ready Mode. If selected will disable Query Ready mode completely.
