Question for forum moderators

Are we allowed to advertise feature requests we have placed in order to gain "weight" for our requests?

garywpaul wrote:
I dont recall if it was a bug that hit the board, but David Powers said by signing our and signing back in should cure it, at least it did for me.
Yes, it's a bug in the system. The only known cure is to log out and log back in again. It usually clears up the problem.

  • Question for Forum Hosts

Sorry, this is a question for you about how this forum works or what options I am supposed to use, versus being a new problem... I couldn't find a "Contact Us" link to get this question to you any other way.
I posted a message (marked as a question), "Wireless-G Card causes Tecra 730CDT to Hang," on February 14th. I got a reply from "Quad" and I then replied to that reply (and marked it "still not answered"). The now 3-part message was on the main forum list for about 1/2 day and then it disappeared from it completely. I can do a search and find the original message and the 2 replies, but they are not on the main list.
I can't figure out why it is not on the main forum list. Did I do or say something wrong so it was dropped from the list? Did I fail to do some step or check some box that is required before it can return to the list?
I really would like the original message and replies back on the main forum list, as I still have the same problem and am hoping someone will see it and provide a solution to my problem. Please advise.
    Thanks,
    [email protected]

    Hi Ivan,
First, thank you very much for clearing up what I thought was a mystery of my disappearing posting. Basically, I thought my problem belonged in the TE and Tecra Series forum (what I thought of as the "main page") and was dismayed when I couldn't find it in there. Yes, the Wireless Board is definitely the more appropriate spot.
Secondly, thank you too for your opinion on my attempt at jamming Wireless-G onto my old laptop. I am seeing that you and Quad must be correct... the fact that the 730CDT works so well with my 10/100 wired card made me feel it could handle everything.
I have to admit I have never tried slower Wireless-B. Technology has moved so fast and prices have dropped so much that it was cheaper to buy a brand new boxed kit (router and card) for Wireless-G than it was to buy an old Wireless-B set up... I got caught up in getting the best deal instead of making the best technology match.
I will close this question on "where's my posting?" but will leave the original "730CDT Hang" posting alive for awhile longer.
    Many thanks again,
    Wayne

  • Question to Forum moderators

    Dear moderators,
Is there any person at Creative (other than customer support) to whom I could discuss the Sound Font and Midi issues with the X-Fi card?
I have emailed customer support on several occasions, and was even directed to Developer Support regarding my issues with the card but haven't gotten an answer.
To be honest, I'm quite frustrated with the fact that the sound card isn't 100% compatible with Sound Fonts and MIDI the way previous models were.
If I can't contact somebody myself, would it be possible for you do send along this information to the correct people at Creative?
This problem has existed since the card came out and we're coming up on 2 years since I first contacted customer support and still no fix for these issues.
These are the problems with SF and MIDI:
1.- Effects on Sound Fonts are close to non-existent no matter if you max the levels on them.
2.- The card no longer responds to envelope controllers.
3.- Polyphony number is MUCH less than that on the Audigy series and previous models (MIDI files I made with the SoundBlaster32 and sounded great now have notes cut off).
I'm sorry if this in any way inconveniences you but I've tried the contact information on the Creative site without success.
Thank you in advance for any help.

perihelion54, I hear you. I can't help you, other than to offer my support. I have questions about the technical spec of the soundfont engine as well, and it's difficult to know where to get answers.
The only reason I have an X-Fi is for the 24-bit soundfont feature. I haven't gotten into the detail of programming the X-Fi yet, although I have created soundfonts for the Live! and Audigy range.
There's a few new features in the latest (2.4?) version of Vienna, so that might be worth a try. I have been using AWave Studio 10, which SoniVox also seem to use by times.

  • Question for Forum Administrator

I'm having a few login problems with this forum. For instance, I have to login every time I visit the forum, the forum doesn't remember me as being other than a guest when I want to post. I also have to use a slightly different login name than my profile name to get in.
Thirdly, I can't access My Questions on the right side of the page. I get this:
    500 nextPageStart is undefined.
How can I get this stuff fixed? If this isn't the right place to post this stuff please guide me where to go. Thanks!

Hi GothBoy, Things like this need to be posted and replied to in the Feedback about Discussions forum. Your post will not be addressed in this forum. Thanks!

  • Question for the moderators about KT400/MSI

ive seen the overwhelming number of posts about this mobo, i cant help but wonder. WHEN is msi coming out with a good bios to fix all the memory probs/file transfer probs/ati 9700 probs? ive posted my problem numerous times and everytime i get the PS answer. ive read countless other posts where thats the advice you give the poor soul who also has the same model and problem (misery loves company!!) so they go out and waste more money getting a 500 watt PS and still have the exact same problem. is MSI ignoring their customers? are they listening? do they know how jacked up this chipset is? is their answer going to be "get a bigger PS"? im tired of waiting. im NOT going to fool around with a "BETA" bios either. thats just plain asking for trouble, and i cant afford to have my computer down. it costs me money/time. whats the answer? i am thinking of asking one or two of the bigger hardware/internet news sites this same question. maybe getting that kind of attention would rattle MSI into an answer because they dont seem to be able to answer emails very well... MSI has got to get on the ball.

the bios to fix your hard drive problems is contained in the crc thread above
and most 9700 problems have turned out to be down to which ati revision it was as far as ive read

  • General question for Forum re: e-mail updates

Is anyone else receiving updates to this Forum in your e-mail, and if so, have you started to see the line-break character string scattered throughout the body of the e-mails? That's a left arrow, the characters "br", a slash, then a right arrow. This started happening to me on Saturday. My Friday stuff is fine, but starting with Saturday it's cluttered with < br / > every place there should be a line break...

  • Orded IP4, but question for forum vets

My wife and I have a 3G and I have ordered a 4 for both of us. It's one of the "ships by July 14th" orders. We are both very excited and anxious to get it, but are also quite troubled by what I read on these boards and various others blogs/sites about it's various issues.
I'm not asking if I should cancel my order, I would like to know if after every launch the "issues" were this great? I'm sure each release had it's problems, and I wasn't checking the boards regularly until now. Is it because 1.7mill people ordered these and there are just that many more out there now than previous releases, or maybe expectations have gotten so high since each phone was so great?
I'm sure (hope anyway) some fixes are forthcoming and some bashing will stop, but I'm curious if this release is par for the course, but a bit 'amped up', or not. I know more people will complain than compliment, but after looking through some history and other discussions for other hardware, I don't see as much animosity as I have here.
    Thanks,
    Anxiously Waiting

Yes every time there is a release there are many problems. I haven't had one problem that I can think of, I love the iPhone 4. I hate to say for all the people that are having problems but I haven't had a iPhone that gets better reception and download speed are close to double. The video and camera blow away the 3GS and the screen is so easy to read small type now.
If you have these reception issues I would get Zagg film for the sides of the phone and make sure it crosses the breaks in the metal. You can't even see the clear Zagg unless you look for it. I think it will solve the problem and you can enjoy your phone and not worry about when Apple will have a fix. Later down the road you can exchange it when things calm down and stock of new iPhones is up if the problem still occur on bare metal. If 2% of phones had manufacturing problems it would be over 30,000 phones and that's around average or below. So you can imagine how many people are having problems.
I think it's overblown but I don't doubt people are having major connection problems and I also believe some are so obsessed with the situation if a bar drops they have a fit and just try to trash the iPhone when some are having great experiences. It's only been a week and I'm sure there are so many different reports Apple is having a problem figuring out a solution that will fix all.

  • Make forums for moderators only available for moving for forums which Moderators understand

I see currently many questions moved by moderators to forums which are for 100% not related to the question.
Can this be avoided by giving moderators only rights to access forums from which they the topic understand.
It seems now they took the first one for which they have access rights to move, to get it out of their forums.
    Success
    Cor

    Cor,
As far as I know, moderators can move to any forum.
I am not a moderator in a technical forum, so my experience may be different, but I tend to move to the "Where is the question for..." forum if I have no idea where a question belongs, and then let someone else suggest the right forum.
If I have an idea where the question belongs, I will still move to the "where is the forum" forum, and suggest the right forum.
If the OP requests, I will then move to the proper forum.
If someone else who has clear knowledge of the issue comes along and suggests a post be moved to a certain forum, I will do that as well.
I've done that on your suggestion before as well :)
I think that when you see issues of posts being moved to the wrong forum, and you believe it's done just to get the post pout of a forum, rather than to provide help, that you email a link to fissues, with your reasoning - it's the best way I know of
to get the forums owners involved.

  • Hi there how are you guys out there of this forum? I got a question for y'a

Hi there how are you guys out there of this forum? I got a question for y’all
I wanted to know how I could record different folders using iTunes
Cause when recorded 2000 thongs on the DVD
There were 2000 songs to go through
So I really wanted to have had folders and then the music recorded inside them
So I could get right to where I wanted real quickly
Could anyone please teach me how to do that real quickly?
Can we do it with iTunes?
I know we can do it with Nero.

    1) Go to file, select new playlist. Creat the playlaist.
    2) Download your music into iTunes.
NOTE: CHECK 'Recently Added' before you download your music.
If the select boxes has a check in them, turn it off by
holding down the 'ctrl' key and selecting one of the
checked boxes. This shold turn off all the checks.
It would be better to clear 'Resently Add' of all
previous downloads, but I don't know how to do that
    yet.
    3) under 'PLAYLIST' on the right, select 'Recently Add'.
all of your song should show there with a check in the selection
    box.
4)Hold the shift key and select the frist (selete records name),
then the last recorded tune. All of the recordings shouls light
    up blue.
    5) While holding the 'shift' key, drag one of the records to your new
playlist. All of the blue highlighted song will transfer to the new
    playlist.

  • Facts and Figures - A Question for the Forum Mods

A bit of a daft question for which I am sure the Forum Mods can provide an answer.

  • Question for CL Forum Ad

I have been reading through this forum and there seems to be no shortage of upset customers. They all seems to be asking the same questions over and over again, and the only answer given is, "I'll post more information when I get it".
Now, I'm not a real tech savvy guy, but why is it not possible, to walk over to the desk of the head developer, and say, "Hey Steve, can you tell me why the new drivers are the same as the beta ones?"
And then walk back to your PC and type the answer here. I mean lets be honest, unless you are sending messages via snail mail, I don't understand why this is so hard to do. I suspect you HAVE the answers, but the big cheese at CL has told you to simply deflect the questions for now.
What I am trying to say is that by you saying you'll post information when you get it, does nothing but make your company look completely rag tag. It gives the impression that everyone just works part time from home, and they only meet every other Saturday for a softball game. There is no official statements from CL, you guys don't have any answers, no one knows when anything is being released or what it'll have in it...it just seems like the company is in shambles.
And this brings me to my second question. While you're slow to respond to questions about why things aren't working and such, but you are quicker than a fat man chasing a rolling donut down the street when someone advertises another brand, so my question is what do YOU recommend we do?
Can you suggest some solutions for all of the people who bought CL cards and have no working drivers? I would really appreciate if you didn't simply ignore, or skirt around this question.
I think it's time you threw us a bone here, if you're not going to give us any information, then at least give us some other alternati'ves.

Dude, honestly, I could care less what happened 0 years ago. I have said it before and I'll say it again for you, just because this type of thing keeps happening doesn't mean it's right.
When I buy a product from a company I don't do it thinking, "Hey, maybe if I buy this product then the $200 will help them become the best company in the world, and I don't care if it works or not, I just like the feeling of supporting companies in the hopes they'll do well!"
I buy products, and I expect them to work.
Regardless, if you had actually read my post, you would see that I'm not asking when the drivers will be out, or why they aren't... I am asking why this "world leader" in sound cards can't communicate effecti'vely with it's customers? I am asking why the Admins keep saying the same old mumbo jumbo, and expect us to buy that they can't actually just go talk to the people in charge.
I am also asking if they can't tell me that information, then help me find some alternati'ves.
So, why don't you paypal me a few hundred dollars for a new sound card. You seem to have no problem sitting there giving your sound card "high fi'ves" and talking to it in a sweet voice, "Don't worry little sound card, I know you have amazing potential, I won't give up on you!"
"Do you remember the old days of Windows 2000?" We then cut to a montage of you running through fields of flowers hugging your sound card and a copy of Windows 2000. You shake your fingers at them and say, "Not yet little guys, soon we'll all be together in harmony, we just have to wait!!"

    I totally agree with Alex.
With over 11,600 threads this forum is really "heavy".
A few more categories would reduce the efford for searching and rise the effectiveness.
This applies to a few more categories by the way.
Nevertheless I'm also happy about the quit good support in this board.

  • Rewards Part II - for the Moderators

This post is for the Moderators:
Following up my initial post about the Reward system, here and here are very good examples of how someone new to the forum posts a question, receives guidance, suggestions etc. resolving the problem, and in turn marks the thread (at least as of now) "answered".
Seems like something very counter-intuitive happens with the current Reward system that is unproductive for best measuring helpful participation.
I like ~Bee's suggestion from the above referenced post eliminating the "answered" option; instead making the option either "solved" or "helpful".
    Thoughts? Comments? Thanks

    675/3121
    Hello All,
Not that I don't agree with you, at the contrary, and I even saw once, one OP who used to reward before but who doesn't do it anymore.
But putting this in a larger perspective, I think the points system works quite well enough now, and that our Mods and Admins must be busy enough on some other (now) more urgent issues.
"The points system works quite well now":
Although your "percentages feelings" are shared, although it is true that many of my "useful" or "solved" replies are not rewarded, still my Status Level points counting grows faster now than in the Old Discussions, where I was as active and using quite the same forums.
In the old discussions, positive votes and voting counting were added "officially" at a random rate of 1/5, but in fact the rate was not more than 1/20...
I think the "non-rewarded" vs "rewarded" rate today is somewhere between these 1/5 and 1/20, that is, better than before, and that's why my points total grows faster in the New Discussions.
If everything was always awarded, soon we'd have to change the Level requirements to higher values IMO, or soon everybody would become a Level 5.
I know I'm not being too logical here, but that's because priority is responsiveness and reducing those !@#$% daily maintenance breaks...
    "Thoughts":
But that only OP can participate in quality-awarding is another matter.
I think there should be a way to award a useful post, even if we are not the Original Poster.
But because the good old Voting system is definately perverted IMO (in many obvious and non-obvious ways), I think the new system, "OP-based", is better,
    except:
we still should be able to mark as Helpful, in a very limited way, like only five times a day for example and not gaining/giving points.
Personally I prefer the voting system from a logical point of view,
    but,
I'm afraid the Real World has reached the Discussions, because in reality I feel better now that the system is theoretically unfair.
Because the "wrong points" feeling comes from innocent/lazy OPs, not anymore from cheating and perverting.
Please don't laugh too loud, and call that "thoughts" if you please...
    Enjoy your Macs!
    Axl
