Quits/crash after apply Effects
I have just trashed my FCP preferences in library. Then I launch FCP. I tried to apply EFFECTS on video, but it quits by itself. How to solve this problems?
I'm using:
OS 10.3.9
PowerPC G5 2GHz (3.0)
1.5 GB DDR SD RAM
Internel Hard drive: 152GB x2 Maxtor 6Y160M0 (35GB available)
Final Cut Pro HD 4.5
Quicktime Pro 7.5 (v149.5)
I noticed you're using QuickTime 7.5 with Final Cut Pro 4.5. QT 7 is not recommended for this version of Final Cut Pro and this could be the reason behind your troubles.

Problem with automated height/width after applying effect
Hey guys,
I have a panel that automatically resizes after some other contents is being added. All the time there is a scale-effect. Whenever I move the mouse over any of those children they zoom in and there the height & width of the parent container automatically resizes.
However I have a minimize button for that one along with a resize effect. I can resize the complete container to a minimize size (e.g. 40x40), but when I resize back with the same effect, the panel does not automatically resizes with added children anymore.
I did not set any special properties on the panel from the beginning, but some property must be different now. It is not "autoLayout" and also the "percentageWidth/Height" does not work properly as that command will cause the panel to stretch over the complete stage. Any suggestions here?Mmmh...that does not seem to solve the issue for me. Even when setting the width and height to NaN before the effect is played, it will still lead to a fixed height and width of the parent panel container. When I add new children the parent container is not properly resized, means that the chiildren just go beyond the parent container's border.
Setting these parameters after the effect is done leads to the following crash: ArgumentError: Error #2004: One of the parameters is invalid.

After applying effects random green frames appear
When applying effects, for some reason 1-2 seconds after the effect plays there are green frames in the video. This also has happened when I used the option to slow down the video speed. Its happened to me on all projects that I have used effects on and I don't know what to do.
Do you have two video cards? There's a KB article about green frames occuring on export if you have two video cards.
Are you editing original media or optimized? You might try using optimized media as maybe the encoder is having problems with the h.264 codec.
Also try clearing out all render files from both the event and project and have it re-render everything. -
Illustrator crashes when applying effects.
Im getting really frustrated that such simple requests in illustrator are so problematic.
My first instinct is to update to the latest version, but Adobe say im up to date (this us 16.0.4, but I think there is 17 now?)
Any thoughts? Help?

Can you provide the snapshot of the artwork along with the drop shadow parameters which you are applying ?

Audio stops playing after applying effect
First of all, I'm a beginner, so any help is appreciated. I' ve strung a few clips together including a photo and some video. I imported a sound file to go with the clips. Everything worked fine until I applied an effect to the video clip (contrast and brightness). Now when I play back the movie, the audio stops playing soon after beginning the video clip. I've checked the volume of the audio and it's fine.... as soon as I undo the effect, it all plays fine again.
Any suggestions?

Try extracting the audio from that video clip before
adding the transition/effect.
Thanks for your suggestion. I just discovered what the problem was. When I applied the effect I didn't notice that there was a progress bar and that it took quite a while for the effect to be totally applied. I was trying to play the movie back while processing was taking place and that interrupted the audio.

Captivate 7 Crashes When Applying Effect
Hi Everyone: I am using Captivate 7.0.0.118 on a Windows 8 machine. I am trying to apply the "ease in" effect to a smart object on a slide. Every time I go to apply the effect and click "Live Preview" Captivate stops responding and requires me to close the program. I have tried running as administrator and also have cleared preferences from the utils folder. I would really like to add some animation and visual effects to this project, but I can't waste the time having it crash. The project is being developed from a template provided by my customer. If I try to apply the "ease in" to a blank project, it works just fine.
Any way to troubleshoot the template from my customer or why the template would cause this issue. Any thoughts / advice would be appreciated. Thank you.HI there
Have you tried isolating the object and placing it in a new project, applying the ease in, then copying and pasting it into the desired project?
Maybe that will get you going.

Get output of layer after applied effects and transformations?
I know I can get the pixel data of a layer either by calling Sampling8Suite1()->subpixel_sample() or by directly acessing the layer's data field.
Both methods work fine, but give me only the pixels before any effects or transformations (scaling, rotation, etc.) have been applied on a layer.
Example: I add a red solid and on this red solid I add the effect "Fractal Noise".
On another layer I add my plugin which samples the input of the first layer. But it will never give me the fractal noise output, only the red solid pixels.
DId I miss something somewhere or is this not possible within AE?

Thanks!in short, no such functionality is offered.
there are however some exceptions:
1. if you checkout your own layer, even at times other than the current, and you do it using the smartFX checkout_layer() funciton, then you get it post all effects previous to yours in the stack.
2. you can checkout any project item, so if you checkout a comp with only one layer in it, you get that layer post transform and effects.
3. write an artisan (the plug-ins that render comps such as "advanced 3D"). artisans get post effects/transform layers.

using trial version of cs6. after using liquify it crashes. computer is up to date and I hesitate to buy if i can not fix problem.

Lync for Mac 2011 crashing after applying v14.0.10 update
Hi,
Is there a hotfix for 14.0.10? I've seen a few threads about fixing the crashing issue for 14.0.7 but not 10.
Lync has crashed almost every hour. The MacBook is connected to a thunderbolt display. Another person is running 14.0.9 with no issues.
I've uninstalled version 14.0.10 and reinstalled 14.0.7, however 7 is completely missing the audio settings so we're unable to use it.
Can anyone please assist here?

After Effects crashing on applying Element 3D
So I just downloaded After Effects CC 2014 and transferred all my plugins to it. But all except Video Copilot Element 3D V1.6.2 are working correctly. Whenever I apply the Element effect AE crashes. I tried to reinstall it using the installer but no luck... I am on Windows 7 64 bit and am using NVIDIA GTX 750 Ti graphics card with a six core AMD FX 6300. So its probably not because my PC isn't capable enough....Please help me, I am really worried....

when I apply Element on a layer (right after opening up after effects and making a new comp >no existing project) everything just freezes for about half a second and then I get a popup saying 'Adobe After Effects CC 2014 has stopped working' and then I have to click on 'close the program'
And yeah, also when I apply that on an existing project it works correctly also when I apply it on a new project without quitting it works fine.
also sometimes(very rarely)) when AE doesn't crash on applying Element(in a fresh project after quitting AE and restarting it) I am able to open Scene setup and use all the models I have and if I click OK and see it in the project it is there and everything works fine....and if I go back to scene setup and remove that model and then click on custom texts and masks this option also works fine (as when if AE doesnt crash everything else works fine but custom texts and masks don't work and this option crashes AE).

After effects crashing after enabling 3D switch
Hi All,
I am running the latest CC suite and updated after effects a few days ago. I have now tried to do some simple 3D text by extruding them. Using the ray traced renderer and as soon as I click the switch for enable 3D on the text layer it crashes every time. I even started a brand new project but I still have the problem. Running a 2014 15" retina macbook pro. I've been using it fine for around 3 months but this latest update seems to be giving me dramas. Any ideas?
EDIT: I just tried with the classic 3D renderer. Same thing as soon as that switch is clicked it crashes. Super annoying paying for a 3D animation program that I can't even use!

Element 3D is crashing After Effects?
Hello everybody!
I recently purchased Video Co-Pilot's plugin for Adobe After Effects, Element 3D, but much to my amiss, it does not work. The first time I tried to open the scene setup, it said, "Element 3D has encountered an unrecoverable error."
I closed After Effects, and opened it back in hopes of trying again. But this time, when I apply Element 3D to a solid, it tells me "After Effects has stopped working" and I am forced to close the program.
Nothing has changed yet, every time I try to add Element 3D to a solid it crashes After Effects. I updated my graphics driver, re-installed Element 3D, everything I can think of, but to no avail.
If anyone could offer some speculance as to what's happening, that would be amazing.

After Effects actually runs very well on my PC, considering I do have the minimum requirements. I am able to run Optical Flares, as well as Trapcode Particular perfectly.
I'm fairly young, so I apologize, but how can I update my graphics card to meet Element 3D's requirements?

julianWe beleive that we've isolated the problem.
I'll post more detailed workaround instructions if necessary, but for now, if you are totally blocked by this, try these steps:
Open your Font Book Application
Click on All Fonts
Look in the Font column for any fonts that have accent characters in their name.
Remove them.
That should resolve the problem.
The one we have identified so far is the font Arrière Garde, but there are certainly others.
And note that it's how the font name appears in Font Book that matters, not the font filename itself.
Let us know if this resolves the issue for you.
