Quiz Review Message

I am new to Captivate and I'm having trouble with my non
graded quiz inside my program. I can't get the review message for
the remediation if the answer was wrong to come up. I have know way
of knowing if I'm setting it up wrong or if there is a glitch in my
program. I found the tab for feedback like "Try Again" but I need a
larger space to put the information that contained the correct
answer. Can someone please run down the steps to making this work?
Thanks!

In a survey question, (Captivate 3) there is an advanced
option for answer choices that allows you to check 'show feedback
message'. I believe this would allow you to provide as much
feedback as you wanted - and then the user can continue on to the
next question/section.
I'm sure there are other ways to do this as well- it seems
Captivate always has about 4 ways to do 1 thing.

  • Captivate 5.5 Review message no longer wraps in Review area caption box

Has anyone else experienced this issue? I logged it as a bug when someone else in my company reported the same issue to me. I searched for it on the Internet and didn't get any hits. We tested to see if it was just for converted projects from 4 to 5.5 or for new ones as well. It's not working for new ones. This problem did not exist in version 5.
Basically the text won't wrap so the text displays completely across the screen (no matter what size the Review Area caption size is), cutting off the text at both ends for longer feedback messages.
Workaround: You can work around this issue by forcing a carriage return in your feedback messages by pressing Enter at an appropriate place in the message. You'll probably have to fool around with that a bit to determine the best place.

    So, here is my workaround:
On the Quiz Review slide, I created two captions, one for passing, and one for failing.  I set both of them to be hidden.  I then created a conditional Advanced Action called ExamCaption and set one expression to show the Pass Caption if cpQuizInfoPointsscored was above or at my passmark, and set another expression to show the Fail Caption if cpQuizInfoPointsscored was below my pass mark.  I also set each expression to hide the other non applicable caption for good measure.
I set the On Enter action to ExamCaption for this slide.
Reading Lilybiri's blog, I also replaced the Captivate Pass/Failure captions with just a space for each, so that nothing is shown.
Only problem is, the captions fade out after 3 seconds, the duration of the slide, despite being set to No Transition.  I therefore increased the length of the slide to 60 seconds.  If anyone has a better workaround, please let me know.
    Hope that helps!

  • Formatting the Quiz Review Area

Is there a way to re-format the font, background, size or any
other appearance aspects in the quiz review area? I know how to
change the messages presented in this area via the Quiz Manager,
but need help with changing the font size, etc.
Speedy reply appreciated - as this is the last touch to a
    project due tomorrow. Thanks!

Hi pewinggrim and welcome to our community
Unfortunately, there is very little you can do with this.
Pretty much what you see is what you get. Aside from the text, you
    can't really control formatting.
    Sorry... Rick

  • Adobe Captivate 5.5: Quiz Review for Correct and Uncorrect answers

    Hello,
While making a quiz on Captivate 5.5, I couldn't set a review for correct and uncorrect answers. This in order to explain the correct answer.
The review area only appears when the question is not answered. I would like to know how I can fix this or a simple trick to make text appear only when reviewing the question.
    Thanks!

Hi and welcome to the forum,
For Quizzes you can customize the immediate feedback by editing the Success/Failure captions. However for Review, if the user has given an incorrect answer the Text Caption has always the same content, it will indicate the given answer and the correct answer. Out of the box there is no possibility to adapt this Review message so that is more personalised for each question.
If you do not mind some more work, I blogged about customising the Review messages. Feel free to have a look:

  • Next button only for quiz review

I searched, with no luck, for a way to only have the "next" button visible on quiz reviews.  I would like it hidden during the quiz, becuase I don't want back or skipping possible.  Also, hiding the playbar in the skin.
    Thanks,
    Brian

Jabir, why should you create an advanced action from that shared action? It will be always the same action that is applied, no need to create a shared action IMO? At least if you time that shape button for the rest of the project. If you want a shape button on each slide, the shared action has sense, because you have one parameter: the shape button. And in that case there is no need at all to create an advanced action from that shared action, just apply that shared action directly to the On Enter event of each question slide. It has the advantage over advanced actions that you don't have to create multiple advanced actions each with a different label, and seems also not to increment the filesize in the same way.
And moreover I think you should post a correct action: the system variable is not CpQuizReview mode but: cpInReviewMode and since it is a toggle, the possible values are 1 or 0, not 'one'. Above the preview of such an action.

  • Captivate 5 quiz review not showing correct answers when loaded to LMS

Hello All. I would really appreciate some help please. Despite the quiz review working correctly when published, i.e. both 'your answer' and 'the correct answer' captions appear in the review, on loading to LMS the review caption does not show the 'the correct answer is' , but instead 'you did not answer this question completely'.
Any ideas why this should be the case? I've attached screen shots of my quiz preferences for completenes.
    Many thanks in advance.
    Janey

Do the same modules evidence this behaviour when published and played outside the LMS, e.g. from a web server or on your hard drive?
If not, it's possible that some setting in the LMS is over-riding what happens at playback.  You could try checking the box under LMS Customisation for Never Send Resume Data and see if that seems to make any difference.  If the LMS is maintaining a record of some previous attempt at the same module then turning off Resume Data might show that up.

  • Quiz review options

Hi... Is there a way to set the review questions option to review only the questions in the quiz (capitivate 5)...  I have a couple activities in the course that I used questions, but don't want the user to be able to review these.. I want to be able to review only the questions on the quiz... Does this make any sense?

One workaround you might be able to try is to use Conditional Advanced Actions to immediately skip any non-Quiz slides when doing a Quiz Review.
You'll need to have these Conditional Advanced Actions fire OnSlideEnter of any non-quiz slides to check the value of the System variable that tracks the number of quiz attempts. I usually only allow the user to Review Quiz once they have used up all their allowed quiz attempts (so that they don't use the Review Quiz to find out the answers BEFORE they finish all attempts).  So you can check that the number of attempts has been reached and then skip the slides as needed.
It will mean you need to get your hands dirty with Advanced Actions, but Lilybiri's blog has plenty of soap and water for that...

  • Message Center -- how to review messages?

How can you go back and view messages that have popped up previously? So far, all I've seen is ads, but 20% off accessories wasn't a bad thing when I wanted a keyboard with an embedded trackpad (Adesso's are {content would be filtered}.)

Hmm... well, it appears I can at least make the most recent message pop up several seconds after I Run
    "C:\Program Files\Lenovo\Message Center Plus\MessageCenterPlus.exe"
Still would prefer to review messages in a list or something.

  • Editing Quiz Review

Can anyone help? Once a quiz has been run you have the option tor eview your answers. When going through the review any incorrect answers are displayed in black boxes. Is there a way these black boxes can be removed as it really does not look very nice. Also there are 3 buttons during the quiz review but the Clear and Submit do nothing and as such are redundant. Can these buttons be removed? thanks for any advice/help

    Hi there
Unfortunately there isn't much you can do aside from logging a feature request to ask for a change in a future version.
Some things are possible to change by exporting the Captivate to Flash. But I'm not sure these survive the trip. I don't use Flash, so can't really speak to that.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Quiz Review

    Hi there,
I have a quiz set up and when the user finishes it, whether they pass or fail, i want them to be able to review their answers but when they do, it goes back to the first question but there is no way for them to move on to the next question. . . any ideas?
    Many thanks,
    Ian

Use the Skip button on question slides to navigate to the next question during Quiz Review. Tick this option for each question under Quiz Properties.
You can use a free widget to hide the Skip button during the quiz:

  • Cant we have the text alignment for the review messages & progress indicators

    Hello all..
    I am using Cp4.
I want to align the text to right & bottom. Is this possible in Cp4. Is there any solution for this ?
    Pullela

    hello again...
What I meant was, in the above image if u right click on the blue area, u will find text allignment properties (align right, left, bottom, top).
I cant provide u the screenshot as if now I am outstation thats why I have used the same image.
As u told earlier, we cant align the text in the review messages. But I think we have some options here.
    Have u tried it?

  • Take quiz, review wrong answers, take quiz again. Possible?

I am building an application that teaches middle-school math. The teaching goes like this:
    1. Learner watches a flash video math lesson, e.g., how to do exponents.
    2. The learner takes a multiple choice quiz.
    3. If the learner misses any questions, they can choose to watch a short video showing how to solve that specific problem correctly.
Repeat steps 2-3 until final score is 100% or until they choose to stop.
Does Captivate 4 have the capability to do this sort of thing? Specifically, is there a way to:
Isolate and/or track the individual questions that were answered incorrectly and provide a link to a specific slide that shows how to do it correctly.
    AND
Start another quiz -- from scratch -- allowing learner to take quiz again.
The key in this concept is that the learner be able to take the quiz as many times as they like, watching review videos for those questions they get wrong.
Does anyone have experience with this paradigm? Thanks.

You could do this during the quiz (when the student gets the wrong answer, you could give them a message to watch the remedial video, and after watching the video, they could re-attempt the question they answered incorrectly).

  • Question Review Messages

At the end of quiz, we can go back to review quiz. If the
answer is incorrect, it'll appear a message something like 'Your
answer:' and 'The Correct Answer is'. It happen, one of the correct
answer is quite lengthy, and it got cut off. How to show the whole
sentence without being cut off half sentence? Thanks.

You should go to the quiz slide for that particular question
and click the review area. It should show window sizing handles so
you can change the size and shape of the reivew area.
Give that a try and see if it solves the problem.

  • Can't get rid of the "your document is being tracked for reviews" message

I used Adobe Professional for the first time to conduct reviews on PDFs. I used the "Send for review by email" option. Now I am done with the review, have incorporated the comments, have compiled FrameMaker files, and produced a new PDF. But when I open the final PDF, I still get the message that you are opening a document that is being tracked for review. How do I make sure the message goes away?

Basically, while I was trying to figure out how I was going to send my forms to people, I tested the "Send for review by email" function, just as the OP did.
Pretty sure that's what triggered my form to be stuck in this "Marked for Review" mode.
Appreciate any help y'all can give me.
Again, I attached a screen shot of the pop-up in question

  • Quiz Review--how can I change/customize the buttons in CP7--now showing "back" and "skip"

    Hi,
I am using CP 7 and giving learners the opportunity to review their quiz questions. The review works fairly well, but the buttons at the bottom are not correct. Should say Back and Next or Continue. I don't see a master slide for this, like the Results master slide, where I can edit. Have not found anything useful yet under Object Preferences. Also would be nice to position them. Thanks.

I never show the Next button on a question slide, but drag it under the Clear button, so that it becomes only available during Preview. A skipped question cannot be answered anymore when coming back, it is only confusing. For the same reason I will rarely allow backward movement. Only with the option 'Submit All' it is possible to retake questions within the same Quiz attempt.
