Hi Yesseb ,
Quote to cash is a generic term for all the business process that are involved in when a quotation is provided to the customer till the cash is collected.
The various types of documents involved are
a) Quotation (represented by the Sales Document type)
b) Sales Order (represented by the Sales Document Type)
c) Delivery ( represented by the Delivery document type)
d) Invoice( represented by a billing document type)
The documents are generated after end of each cycle. For e.g. the end of quotation will result in a legally binding document The information contained in each document will differ.
The sales document contains
a) Header Level information which is generally master such as sales area abd organization.
b) Item Level which will contain the order quantity and material data.
c) Schedule Line which is responsible for delivery dates and delivery quantity.
You can look for the structure for each document.
The normal sales order cycle Quotation->Sales Order-> Delivery-> Invoice. Once the quote has approved , normally a followup document is created which is sales order. Similarly for Delivery and Invoice is done. There could be a goods return process which is Invoice -> Return Sales Order -> Return Delivery -> Credit for returns.
There could be different tweaks in the customer business process which can be achieved through appropriate customizing in the CRM/ERP side. There could be may parties involved in this process which can be obtained through customization. Also the account information for billing could also be obtained through customization.
Some of the important customization that should be maintained are
a) Pricing
b) Availability Check  & Requirements
c) Billing
d) Shipping
e) Transportation
f) Partner/Account / Text determination

  • Configuring business scenario "Quote to cash"

    Dear All,
This is regarding configuring business scenario "Quote to cash" for Industrial machinery product. In Material master (mm01) tab for Sales:general plant we have assigned serial number profile.
During GR for the order, we are creating serial numbers automatically. The user has a specific requirement of prefixing the serial numbers.
For example he wants the serial numbers to have a prefix 'Mach' i.e. Mach01, Mach02 and so on.
Please help me with the configuration details for meeting this requirement of the customer
    Warm Regards
    Mazdul

    Hi.
These prefixes are constant or it is depends on plants or depends on material type..

  • Changes in Sales order materail availabilty date.

What is impact if we change Sales order materail availabilty date in sales order user exit using some program.

    Hi Mayuresh,
Big impact.  Impact is smaller if you only intend to push the date into the future.  Could be a big problem if you move the date backward in time.  This means that YOU are now assuming responsibility that the Sales orders will be delivered according to business requirements.  You are also assuming responsibility for ensuring that all ATP data is consistant for these changed orders.
SAP has constructed their ATP checks so that if you follow their best practices, the system will maintain the Material Availability date according to the business rules you have set.  Any time you artificially move this date backward, you are overriding all of the rules you have set into SAP.  Moving the date forward is usually less of a problem, except that it implies that you intend to send the materials to the customer at a later date.  As long as your Sales dept and your Customers accept this, then it can be done.  With testing.
    Some issues:
MAD of a particular order affects ATPs of all other sales requirements for the same plant/material.  Altering the MAD of one doc could cause another confirmed sales doc to go on backorder.
MAD is also passed to MRP and Cap Planning as a requirement.  Altering MADs will probably affect your forecasts and the feasibility of your production plans.
If this is a non-negotiable requirement for your business, you need to test thoroughly all possible business scenarios.  Everything in Quote-to-Cash, and everything in Procure-to-Pay, using both forward scheduling, backward scheduling, and 'today' scheduling.  Also, you will have to be very careful HOW you change this date (which userexit).  SAP generally recalculates many dates and quanties in a sales doc each time it calculates MAD. All of these dates and quantities need to be consistant for the system to work properly.
I have participated on a project where this was done.  We had a dozen expert users testing for three  weeks before we signed off and implemented in the live system.  After we implemented, we were STILL making emergency changes to the code and to the business procedures, two months after the implementation.

  • Business Server exception: attempt to establish connection failed.

    Hi.
I'm a total newbie to the BPA Suite, but I have experience with other tool sets like MEGA. I've downloaded and installed an evaluation copy of version 10.1.3.4 of the tool.
I'm working through the Business Process Architect Quick Start Guide, going through the sample Quote to Cash process. Everything is progressing relatively well as I go through the document (except that the QuoteToCash project is already loaded in the LOCAL business repository without me having to load it separately), until I get to the first simulation.
When I go to the Simulation module, I get an error: "Server access exception: Business Server exception: attempt to establish connection failed."
I don't know what's wrong, but there are a couple of things I'm thinking about. One is that I didn't install XE separately, so I think that I'm just using the default Oracle Lite instance that gets installed with the tool. Another is that my account is configured without administrator privileges, so I generally have to run installers as a separate user with administrator privileges to get things to work.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks.

It might be bad form to answer your own question, but after further experimentation, I think that it's a permissions problem.
I repeated the installation on another (virtual) machine on an account that is an administrator, and I can simulate the Process Order process as described in the Quick Start Guide to my heart's content.
Now, the second machine isn't configured exactly the same as the first machine, so there could be other underlying or contributing factors. But I'm un-stuck for now.
I just thought I'd share what I found. Thanks.

  • Creating a logical data model in BPA 11g

    Hi,
Can we create a logical data model in BPA 11g? If we can do that can it be moved over to the BPM environment seamlessly. I was under the impression that during the modelling exercise a business analyst would develop process models and logical data models in BPA & the turn it over to IT developers who will pull these models in and develop the implementation. Is that how it works?
    Thanks.

You can create a logical datamodel in BPA suite. The sample applicaton has an example of that: the quote to cash datamodel. There are different types of datamodels that you can create (business objects, entities etc).
Examples of datamodels can be found in the sample: OBPA Release 11. quick start.
The datamodels can't be imported I think, the process models can. You can either import them into Oracle BPM Studio (as executable BPMN) or into Oracle SOA Suite (transforms it into BPEL) with JDeveloper.

    Hello All,
Can any tell me what is process manufacturing. As i am a starter, if you could throw some light in detail or brief level, how it works, where it works, for what it is? and What is the better way to start digging in to this module, i mean where is the head and tail?

  • Seeded Reports within Oracle BPA Suite...

    Folks,
Would you be able to point me towards any Demo Script
that I could follow against our Demo Databases to test all the
    seeded reports within BPA?
I was looking to run these reports against any of these Demo Database:
"Demo70" or "United Motors Group" or "Quote To Cash"
In lieu of randomly running the report against any model within this
Demo database; I was hoping to find some structure I could follow to
see a tangible & pertinent output. This would have also demonstrated
which Model Types were pertinent for which reports & vice versa...
    Thanks

Well, in the case of the eval 11g the server is embedded with the BPA Suite and/or is simply Oracle XE. I had restarted both of these and since it is Windows, I restarted Windows too. Nothing worked.
So, I ended up exporting (well, backing up) those "databases" that I wanted and reinstalled everything. That, too, was quite the experience. At least the eval copy of this is not consistent in behavior (seems the version on the server changes daily, although I couldn't get the latest one to install, reverted to a saved version of the download), the install does not work consistently and even worse, when the install fails there are no such indications... it all looks just fine (in my case, attempts to use non-default tablespaces did not work, the log file indicated a bad login without any details on what really failed, yet install didn't say a thing)...
Based solely on my experience with the eval copy, if it were up to me, I would not use this product at all. You may have other experiences, but the lack of current and correct documentation along with inconsistent behavior makes the administration of this tool a guessing game...even restoring the database that I had backed up failed the first time (couldn't login), but I could delete it, and attempted again and it worked that time. Just very poor error messages (as in none), and inconsistent behavior doesn't lead to trusting this very much, if at all.

  • As is documentation

    Hi Friends
While collecting business requirment for AS IS document how we need to collect information, I mean shall I take one process like quote to cash and prepare one document for sales shipping and billing.
OR Separate doucment need to be created for sales , shipping and billing for each process?
    Ple guide
    Thanks

    Hi Pratap,
What we normally do is document the existing processes As they are,,,
We collect all information departmentwise, like Sales/Pack &Dispatch/Billing/Excise etc.
    and document their processes.
We also document special processes under heads like STO/Intercompany Billing/Third Party Sales/Exports&Deemed Exports/Services/Repairs/Contracts/Returns/Scrap etc.
Once all processes are covered under the said scenarios, we develop specific To Be as per SAP standard.
Also, the Gaps are highlighted here and your take on this is clearly mentioned, like workaround/development/out of scope etc. to avoid confusion later.
It is advisable to mention the std SAP processes not in use, but sometimes this creates problems, since the client starts demanding those processes.

If someone has any information as to which modules can be linked to the different end-to-end processes, any info will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

  • Oracle Quoting : How to apply specific Modifier for adjustments

    Hi all,
While applying discounts/surcharge to a quote line from application it is picking some modifier and applying it.
We required same functionality with custom code(we are using aso_quote_pub API) to support ADF Page.
The issue we are facing is for price adjustments we need to pass the modifier header and line id to aso_quote_pub API .
So while adjustments made (discounts/surcharge) how do we know which modifier needs to apply.
    Thanks in advance.
    Thanks
    Srinivas

This is quite simpe. Edit the column formula for the 4th column and put something like this. I am doing this from memory so the syntax might need checking:
Case When "Dimension Table"."Sales Type"='CASH' Then "Fact Table"."Measure" Else Null End
You could also consider making this a permanent addition to your RPD if this measure will be used again and again. You would add a new logical column and use the expression builder to arrive at the same result.

  • Cheque incorrectly stopped in FI, even though it was cashed.

    Dear Gurus
Please can you help to see how we can do this - I am not sure of this scenario -
It basically looks like a cheque was incorrectly stopped/cancelled the by us, even though the person actually cashed this cheque back in 2009. This was due to the bank providing us with the incorrect cheque number on the statement, how do we tidy up the FI Postings on SAP.
Please see scenario and details below
I was going through the UK cheque account with the Biz and trying
to clear some of the old outstanding items, we have issued a cheque
to Joe Bloggs for £468.00 on the 21/07/2008. The cheque 244689 was
stopped as it was out of date on the 14 Dec 2009.
However we have later noticed that the cheque was actually cashed by Joe Bloggs on the 27/04/2009 but
the bank hadnu2019t quoted the correct cheque number on the statement and therefore it hadnu2019t been matched off.
Would we be able to reverse the KA document on Joe Bloggs account, document no 6424125 as the cheque has been cashed?
Basically I need so help to cancel/reverse (fix) this incorrect entry, appears to be a bit of a mess by the business -
What do I do? Please can you kindly provide me step by step instructions (including T-code and any posting info), as how we get this little mess corrected.
Hopefully the above is all faily clear. Please let me know if you require any further information.
    Thanks
    Jay

    Hi All -
This is a little more complicated than I first thought. Further to my initial update (above) -
What has happened, is the cheque was cashed by the vendor. However the bank stated an incorrect chq number, so it appeared the cheque had not been cashed, and became out of date. So we voided the cheque via FCH9, as the business did not know it was cashed due to the bank staying the incorrect cheque number.
So where we are now is u2013
    Cheque voided via FCH9
However we have a KA - Payment Reversal & KZ -Vendor payment, both of which have been cleared.
So our accounts and not correct, what should we do. Is there any way of reversing the FCH9? Or is there a better way to resolved this issue, and get our accounts corrected? Please provide detailed steps/transational info to solve this issue.
    Thanks
    Jay

  • Instalment payment for unit-quoted bonds

    Hi, guys
I run into a problem with instalment payment for unit-quoted bonds. It is no problem with instalment payment for percentage-quoted if you use FiMa category TTRA in  condition type customization, but it doesn't work for unit-quoted bonds. I tried some other Fima categories like TT, TTTL, but without success.
I'd really apreciate it if anyone assist me with this issue.
    Thanks in advance
    Konstantin.

    Hi Konstantin.,
Unfortunately there can be no instalment repayment condition for unit
quoted bonds, because the system cannot calculate cash flow under these
circumstances. The functionality is not available and that is why the
    message is displayed.
The only thing I can recommend is to bring up this
    issue within your user group.
Please see note 11 for details.
    Best regards,

  • Cash Management gain/loss calcs with autooffsets turned on

Please forward any experiences with workarounds/processes for creating exchange gain/loss journal entries for foreign currency payments. Client needs Auto Offsets on, therefore, Cash Management can not create the journal entries.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.

Normally exchange rate gain & loss is handled within AP when you make the payment (As long as you book the payment in the system in its proper foreign payment currency).
However, with Cash Management what you might see is a bank charge in addition to the foreign payment on one statement line.
So a bank statement line might show: GBP 125
This might represent a foreign payment in AP PLUS a charge made by your bank for processing the foreign payment.
If you are also using Oracle Receivables you can set up a 'Receivables Activity' and default it to a particular GL account (e.g. a particular gain/loss account or bank charges account). Then in Cash Management you can use this Receivables Activity to book a transaction for the bank charge.
The high-level process would be as follows:
    1. Manually reconcile the AP Foreign Payment to the statement line
    2. (While on the same statement line) click the 'Create' button. From here you can create/book a miscellaneous transaction (using any pre-defined Receivables Activity)
The point to mention is that this is obviously not automatic. But I hope it helps.
