R12 upgradation : query regarding patch 7461070

I have to apply patch 7461070 as a part of upgradation. It's written in patch note that "must apply critical patch 6767273:R12.AD.A before applying the AD Mini pack". But how to check that instruction are not clear.

We only have izuprod.txt file under 11i APPL_TOP/admin

Run the query in (How to tell what your current AD patchlevel is. [ID 390671.1], under "Release 12 Single Tier" or "Release 12 Multiple Tiers" section), if you are on (Patch 4502962 - R12.AD.A) then you need to apply (Patch 6767273) before applying (Patch 7461070).

We are in the process of upgrading from 11.5.10.2 to R12.1.3.
As part of applying patch #7461070 the Readme.txt says customers who are on R12.AD.A version must apply patch 6767273:R12.AD.A.
We have installed R12.1.1 with Upgrade option.
Please let me know if patch 6767273 needs to be applied.
I checked the 11i DB and this patch has not been applied.

It needs to be applied unless you have (Patch 7305220, R12.AD.A.DELTA.6) applied since patch 6767273 is included in it.

11i to R12 upgrade : Unable to merge patch 9179588:R12.AD.B with 9477107:R12.AD.B and patch 7461070:R12.AD.B.1

Hello Sir,
As per readme for Patch 9179588, I am trying to merge patch (9179588:R12.AD.B) with 9477107:R12.AD.B and R12.AD.B.1
(patch 7461070). When I run admrgpch without -admode option, admrgpch completes successfully.
However, when I just add -admode option in same command, getting error that "invalid option -s". Please see below details and suggest since there is Note: This merge should be a full merge using -admode.

Actually, I tried that one as well by running admrgpch from newly installed R12 code tree and I got below error.

During R12 upgrade adworker for patch u6678700.drv fails for afopp002.sql

During R12.1.1 upgrade from 11.5.10.2 adworker for patch u6678700.drv fails for afopp002.sql
The exact error being faced is

Let me walk you through briefly regarding the upgrade process:
Initially the existing instance was 11.5.10.2 with 9.2.0.6 database.Last year the database was upgraded to 11.2.0.1 and configured with 11.5.10.2
However the 11g database upgrade steps specifically for EBS 11i(interoperatibility notes for 11i with 11g database) was not followed properly.
And one of the major key issue identified was the 11g Example CD was not installed on top of 11g software during database upgrade.Which is the pre-req for 11g upgrade in EBS
And as per my experience it creates issues during R12 upgrade (patch u6678700) and giving errors pertaining to oracle text error.
SR was raised for the same and was suggested, since there is no other option kindly install the Oracle 11g software and on top of that 11g Example CD and map the 11g database and go ahead with the R12 upgrade.
Now coming back to the core issue being faced, Pre-req followed properly.No errors in alert logs.
Can missing the Example CD installtion be the issue?

My client is requsting me to upgrade the Oracle Apps 11.5.10.2 with 10.2.0.5 database to R12. I am going through the upgrade manual and I have not done and upgrade in the past.
I have the following queries.
1) Where can is get the installables for R12? Should I raise an SR(Service Request)? What release of R12 should I ask for? Under which category I have to raise the SR?
2) Which version of R12 will I initially have after the first run of Rapidwiz?
3) After the Rapidwiz can I directly apply the patch for R12.1.3?
4) What XDisplay software I can use to invoke the GUI in Rapidwiz?

Query regarding patches - are they cumulative?

We are in process of upgrading the BI Servers (BIS) and Client Machines (WAS) from BI XI R4.1 SP04+Patch1 To Pach4.
Downloaded Patch4 from SAP Portal is having 3 components (Server, Client, Dashboard) whether all these 3 components are cumulative of Patch1 and intermediate patches released in SP4? If Yes, can we skip the Patch1 installation while upgrading to Patch4?

Are Front End patches cumulative (FEP 600 contains 100 through 600) , or do we have to apply them in turn (100, then 200, 300, 400, 500, 600) to get the full effect ?
Yes. latest FEP 600 contain all FEP of previous version patches.
You can apply the FEP it should resolved your issue.
Still you have any issue please check the installation check file if you have any red signal please reinstall FEP then check the issue is persist or not?

Query regarding patching

OS Windows Server 2003
DB Oracle 10.2.0.1
I am installing patch set 6810189 to base version to upgrade this to 10.2.0.4.
There are three task to be done as part of patch set installation.
Step 1. Preinstallation tasks ( Stopping services of Oracle etc )
Step 2. Patch installation
Step 3. Post installation task ( Running DBUA )
Step 1 & 2 I am able to run successfully, but step 3 is giving some problem.
My query is :-
1. what is the role of running DBUA?
2. It looks like Patch set is installed in Oracle home with the completition of step 2, Is the only role of running DBUA is to upgrade alredy existing running databases under base installation?
3. If we create new databases at this stage then it mean we only need to create new database, we need to run DBUA on top of these newly created database?
In short if old database is unuseful ( Means we can drop old database ) then patchin is copletely successfull at this point & we can go ahead with newly created database after step 2 execution.

DBUA upgrades currently running databases to the installed patch version (10.2.0.4 in your case). If you do not need these databases, you can drop them and create new ones - these will automatically be 10.2.0.4.

Install R12.1 on Windows 2008
Complete Pre-Upgrade Activities on 11i on Windows 2003(32-bit)
Copy the 11.5.10.2 Application Datafiles from Windows 2003 server to Windows 2008(64-bit) server.
Apply the R12 drivers.
Upgrade Applications to R12.1.3.

once The Installation creates APPL_TOP, COMMON_TOP, INST_TOP and 10g Oracle Home
Now we are connected to R12 application.
Applied patch AD.A 4502962.
Run the American English upgrade patch driver
cd $AU_TOP/patch/115/driver
adpatch options=nocopyportion,nogenerateportion
Please enter the name of your AutoPatch driver file: u4440000.drv
This patch doesn't have readme it will be under cd $AU_TOP/patch/115/driver

R12 upgrade patch clarification

Hi,
We are in the process of starting the R12 upgrade patch.
Because of security issues the unix team is not installing VNC software and we regularly have network issues.
Is there any other alternative of running adpatch so as to overcome this issue?

If they not give you vnc session than you need to run patch on server.AFAIK there is no other way.

11i-R12 upgrade: when to apply patch 8919489

I am performing an 11.5.10.2 -> R12.1.1 upgrade on Linux-x86 using the Maint Wizard (MW).
MOS ID 437878.1 says to apply patch 8919489 (R12.TXK.B.Delta.3) BEFORE applying the bundle forms patch 9593176 (and any missing patches) as part of the OAS 10.1.2.3 upgrade.
The MW has patch 8919489 being applied AFTER the OAS 10.1.2.3 upgrade patches (done in MOS 437878.1) and after the main 12.1.1 upgrade patch (u6678700.drv).
Does it matter when this patch is applied?

I suppose that I should clarify.
- The MW says to follow MOS 437878.1 BEFORE starting the primary upgrade patch
- MOS 437878.1 says to apply patch 8919489 as a pre-req patch
- The MW says to apply patch 8919489 after the primary upgrade patch
So, is it to be applied along with the other 437878.1 patches or after the primary upgrade patch?
I don't know where MOS 437878.1 is referenced as part of the 11i-R12 upgrade outside of the MW.

R12 upgrade patch terminating abnormally

I am applying R12 upgrade patch 6678700 and it is terminating abnormally.The patch session come to command prompt.
The DB is one one node application is on another node.The database version is 11.2.0.3 and it is on linux OEL 5.5 64bit.Please help me to resolve this issue.

Please check the patch log for more information and check at which worker it failed and also check the worker log, let us know the information from those log files.

11i to r12 upgrade patch

Hi
I applied patch 6678700 during upgradation process. while patching some workers failed to complete so i skipped those jobs and continued . now patch completed successfully.
I need to solve the failed jobs what i skipped while patching . How do i restart those failed jobs . Now patch completed so we cant use adctrl.
This patch runs around 24 hours so i cant rerun the patch again.
Tell me some ideas please

We have received a request from one of the prospective US based client for R12 upgrade proposal. The RFP say “Upgrade of Self-Service Time to Oracle Time and Labor (since Self-Service Time is not supported in R12) “.
Any idea on Self-Service Time, is it different module?
Has anyone done upgrade from Self-Service Time to Oracle Time? Need help to arrive at efforts required for upgrade from self-service-Time to OTL.
