Radio operationally down

Hi,
for a couple of our APs from time to time we get the following error:
1. Alarm Condition:Radio administratively up and operationally down
Message: 802.11b/g interface of AP xxxxxxx is down: Controller xxxxxxx
After 5 minutes the error is clear and the radio comes operationally up.
What can be the reason?
Cheers,
Hubert

The operationally down time is exact 5 minutes for every from the failed APs. They are in environments, which are very important for us.
Cheers,
Hubert

  • Radio operationally down but admin up

    I see this message come in from Cisco Prime every now and then on a 1242.  I see other people have asked the question a few years ago.  Has anyone else taken a look and figured out what the problem was?

    This sounds like Dynamic Channel Assignment (DCA) at work.
    Check out your setting and make sure you make DCA refresh itself every 24 hours.

  • 1242 AP stuck in oper down status

    Hello,
    I recently deployed a 1242a\b\g AP. I can see it in WCS (version 4.1). However, the radio's are stuck in a oper down status. At first I was getting an error that the power was insufficient. It is set up with an ethernet power injector. I switched out the power brick and injector. Now I just get the down status on WCS.
    The radios show they are enabled and admin status is enabled, but so far every attempt to bring the radios up has failed. Is there something else I need to check or configure?

    Hi Kendall,
    Just to add a note to the good info you received from Frank. If the radios are down this sounds like you are still having a power issue. Have a look at this recent thread;
    http://forum.cisco.com/eforum/servlet/NetProf?page=netprof&forum=Wireless%20-%20Mobility&topic=WLAN%20Radio%20Standards&CommCmd=MB%3Fcmd%3Ddisplay_location%26location%3D.1ddc4f01
    Hope this helps!

  • AP "A" Radio is Down

    AP is connected to 6500 switch with "inline power" turned off. Using the supplied power supply to power the AP unit. B/G radio shows up but A radio shows down. WCS 4.2

    I figured it out. I did not enable it on the controller side.

  • Apple TV radio shuts down after 10 minutes

    Apple TV radio shuts down after 10 minutes.  Can not find out why.  Could version 7.0 be the problem?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
    Seems to be an issue for a large number of users, probably need to wait for a fix.

  • IOS 1230 AP Radio shuts down

    I have a unique problem in which I have my Cisco SE involved in trying to correct. When using an IOS based 1230 AP in one of my locations the RADIO interface will turn off (shut down) even though it appears as being up. All associatins are lost and the only way to reassociate to the AP is by restarting the AP. I have the latest code running for the Vxworks 1200 AP and this problem does not happen. I also have the IOS based 1230 AP deployed at all my other locations with zero problems. Cisco has provided me with a spectrum analyzer thinking it was some interference, but we have not seen any interference. Is anyone else having this problem? Please reply of e-mail me I would love to discuss this with you.

    Hmm... I have had problems with the 802.11a (5Ghz) radio shutting down. It just says something like "DOT11-RADIO-FAILED" I believe in the logs and shows that it was down. Had the unit replaced once and the problem seemed to go away for quite awhile but did notice the radio failed again last week sometime and had to reboot again.
    I thought it might be heat related since it was mounted on a "cloth" wall without the right mounting bracket and might have had the vents covered, but that's not the case now.

  • Radio going down on 1310AP

    Hi there, I'm experiencing some issues with a 1310 LWAPP on a University, here is the scenario:
    The AP is directed to some specific classrooms and at a certain point the radio goes down or at least there is no more communication between the clients and the AP, but the association in the computers remain the same for a couple of minutes, after that the link goes down, but the weird thing is that the communciation to the AP via Ethernet remains up. We tested this and the ping's all were responding while the radio was down.
    Steps already done:
    -A new 1310 has been tested, same results.
    -A new power injector, same results.
    -The UTP cabling between the power injector and the IDF has been changed, same results.
    -The port to which the AP was connected at the IDF switch was changed, same results.
    I'm thinking as a possible solution:
    -Replacing the coax cabling between the power injector and the AP (not more than 15 ft).
    -Ensure the AC voltage at the power outlet is delivered correctly (110v) not less, not more.
    I'm wondering if this steps may be causing the device(s) to fail in such a way, because if it is not receiving the appropriate ammount of power the radio module simply goes down, but as the ethernet module requires less power it remains up.
    What do you think?
    Any recommendation is more than welcomed; too much time has been dedicated without success.
    Thanks in advance!

    For the troubleshooting chech the Red color indicates an overcurrent or overvoltage error condition disconnect input power from the power injector, check all coax cable connections for a possible short, wait approximately 1 minute, and reconnect input power to the power injector. If the LED turns red again, contact technical support for assistance.
    The power injector requires approximately 50 seconds to recover from an overcurrent or overvoltage condition.
    Off indicates input power is not available verify that the power module is connected to the power injector and that AC power is available or that 12- to 40-VDC input power is connected to the power injector.

  • BBC Radio Streams Down on iTunes

    To those of you who use BBC Radio streams on iTunes can you confirm that the streams for R1, R2 and R6 are down?
    I can still get R3, R4 and R5. but getting URL not found for the above ones.
    If anyone has comments or a workaround please let me know. Posting this in iTunes for windows but have the same issue in iTunes for Mac and also on all iOS radio apps I have.
    Thanks,
    Andzzz

    Yes, I have them back as of today. I had the stations in a playlist, but found that when I re-checked the actual list in iTunes the URL had changed.
    Re-added the the new URLs and all working fine.
    Thanks for the response.

  • Intermittant radio interface down on 1130 APs

    I am having unified wireless installation, with WiSM on 6500 at central site and around 90 nos of 1130 APs located at remote locations ( over WAN) as well as some APs locate in the same location.
    The APs are configured in WCS, using default AP template.
    Alsomot all APs are showing minor alarms saying " radio interface threshold violated".
    In addition, a major alarm posted frequently on WCS saying "radion interface down".
    Cleints are complaining that they are loosing connectkion momentarily but connected again automatically wo WLAN. But they will have to log in to application programs in such cases.
    a.Does anybody have similar experience, and
    b. What are the best settings for 1130 APs trhat we have to do explicitly in setting up the WCS template ?
    Thanks ,

    Might be due to interference and the fact that RRM is enalbled and the ap's are changing channels causing the radios to shut down temporarily. Either set the channel or try to change the threshold.
    Here is the error info:

  • 1522 Radio status down

    My client bought 10 AIR-LAP1522AGs and a 4402 controller.  They want to use them in pairs to establish 5 x wireless bridges.  I have configied the controller and have added all the APs into the controller as either RAPs or MAPs.
    I cannot figure out how to turn on the radios.  I have downloaded several Cisco docs but am unable to find the answer to this seemingly simple question.
    Jeff

    So without the radios up, does this mean you primed the MAPs to join over ethernet interface?  Otherwise, for them to be joined, the radios would need to be up..
    Anyhow, if the radios are all down, it sounds like you may have 802.11a or 802.11b/g Globally Disabled  (GUI > Wireless > 802.11a > network > enable 802.11a)...........................
    Other than that, I suppose your AP Admin mode could be Disabled instead (GUI > Wireless)  APs each have an admin status....
    Or is the problem not that the radios are "off"  but that something isn't working on them...?

  • Is anyone else having difficulties with the Appstore not loading, iTunes store being unresponsive, and iTunes radio being down constantly today?

    My itunes store is having connectivity issues and my net connection is fine.  My appstore is also coming up blank rather frequently as well.  Also I have not been able to get my itunes radio to work - saying an internet connection problem - again not the issue.  Anyone else having these issues?

    It sure is...all three keep acting very wonky.  I'll be able to access the store from my macbook and then browse then not be able to connect.  Same goes for app store....
    As for itunes radio....seems a hot topic for everyone.

  • Async timer slows operation down

    Having previously used asynchronous timers to resolve another problem that I had, I'm now looking at an issue that has got me stumped
    Here is a code snippet which has had an asynchronous timer applied
    int CVICALLBACK ParentEvent (int reserved, int control, int event, void *callbackData, int eventData1, int eventData2)
    static int iInfoFlag = 1;
    //If Com Timer event has occurred then:
    if (event == EVENT_TIMER_TICK)
    SetAsyncTimerAttribute(control,ASYNC_ATTR_ENABLED, 0);
    //First, has sonde configuration changed?
    if (iSondeConfigure_HasChanged() == YES)
    //Re-initialise displays etc, if true
    InitialiseSondeSystems(iFloatingPanels);
    //Get Sonde data
    if (ProgStatus.bComTimerEvent == TRUE)
    CompactDataControl (hParentPanel, iInfoFlag, &ProgStatus, NULL);
    //If Com events are disabled then set Sonde Info flag for next data
    //acquisition sequence
    if (ProgStatus.iComEnable != ENABLED)
    iInfoFlag = 1;
    SetAsyncTimerAttribute(ParentTimer,ASYNC_ATTR_ENABLED, 1);
    return(0);
    This routine was previously handled by a conventional timer but as these sit at the bottom of the pile when it comes to scheduling, as soon as the interface was manipluated it shut up. The timer in each case is set at 0.1 second, and if the bComTimerEvent flag is set to true, which is controlled by another (currently traditional timer) it goes away and grabs data from an external source. Using traditional timers, I can clock this 'grab the data' timer quite happily at 0.25 seconds. However with the code shown, it wont grab data any faster than about 1.5 seconds. I have timed how long it takes to call and return from CompactDataControl. With traditional timers its about 0.2 seconds, with the code as shown, its about 1.45 seconds.
    Any thoughts as to what I've missed or messed up.
    Regards
    Gavin
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    All I'm doing is calling Timer() before and after a particular function, and working out how long it takes... I've done this with both normal, and async callbacks and got significant differences. I think due to the nature of what has been done already, this code will need the same treatment as the last project I worked on that required async timers, which was a complete rewrite from the ground up. What is interesting is that that project does make changes to the GUI based on the async timers, without any obvious performance issues, despite of the fact that elements of the GUI are created in the main thread. However this project is doing an awful lot more, which might in someway explain this.
    I'd be interested to know if there is any way you can use traditional timers without the problems of timers stopping, when moving or resizing the GUI - the thing I am try to prevent by using async timers
    However I think what youre saying about your use of Async timers for number crunching, and standard timers for GUI update is a good idea, and I'm pretty sure would work for me.

  • Is the Radio app down?

    All I get is a blank screen with no stations listed. I restarted AppleTV and my router and that didn't help. All other features seem to be working correctly.
    Thanks!

    Clicking update on each app individually works.
    This also just started with the latest iTunes update. Itunes version 10.40 (80)
    I hade the same problem on both iMac and MacBook Pro.

  • Cisco Wireless AP radio interface shutdown/Operation Status Down

    Hi,
    I am trying to troubleshoot the cause of the wireless AP 1142 radio shutdown; I was wondering where may be a good place to start on it/possibility of the radio shutting down. Once the radio is shown as down; I would just need to re-enable (disable/enable) it and the status changes to up status. I have attached a screen catpure of the radio interface showning down.
    The AP radios shutting down is intermittent; some APs has their "A/N" radio interface shutdown while others has their "G/N" radio interface shutdown. Not too sure what may most likely be causing it to shutdown?
    Any input is appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Do you have controller ?? if yes then posts out put of sh sysinfo commad.
    Paste the output of sh version command from AP.
    Also check:
    1. Choose Wireless > 802.11a/n or 802.11b/g/n > Network
    Select the 802.11a (or 802.11b/g) Network Status check box to enable the 802.11a or 802.11b/g band.
    2. Wireless > Access Points > All APs then click on specific AP and make sure admin status is enable.
