Hi! Last week a bought the radio remote in a hi fi center and the earbuds included in the package already started to scratch (left) also listening without radio remote.
I've never gone over 3/4 of the volume.
Can I ask for the replacement on line or do can i go to one authorized center? The problem is that I bought the radio remote in italy and now I'm denmark for 1 month so I can't go to the shop where I bought it to ask service
Thank you in advance!

  • Can I use non-apple earphones with radio remote?

I have a new Ipod 3g and want to buy the radio remote. Must I use the earbuds supplied with the radio remote or can I use non-apple earbuds and earphones? Will I still get good radio reception with a non-apple earphone?

Yes you can. I use Sennheiser PX100's and they work just fine.
Plug the headphones into the remote rather than the iPod to get the best reception.

  • New in-ear headphone NOT COMPATIBLE with RADIO remote!!!

I bought some days ago on the apple store the new in-ear headphone but it seems that are not compatible with radio remote control.
Infact if I connect them, the volume is very very very low. The volume is correct only if I take out just a bit the jack from the radio remote or if the central button of the "in-ear headphone" is hold down pressed.
Do you know something about this problem? Because these headphones are NOT very cheap and nothing is indicated on the apple store.
    Thanks!!!

According to the description, it is supposed to work as normal earbuds when connected to older iPod models. So it seems like it should work that way with a Radio Remote. You said it works properly if it is not pushed in all the way? Maybe the one you have has a minor defect. If you bought it online, you may want to call the customer service number at shown at the upper left corner of the online Apple Store web page and see what they can do about it.

I currently have iPod Nano with 1.1.1 software update and iPod Radio Remote, but even after the update I do't get the radio option to appear in the main menu or music menu, with the option in settings turn ON. Why isn't this thing working?

    hiya!
just doublechecking something. are you connecting the remote directly to the nano, or are you connecting it to a Dock and putting the ipod in the dock?

  • Problems in compatibility of iPod radio remote with iPod classic 160 GB

    Hi all,
I have just bought a iPod classic 160 GB and want to buy a iPod radio remote as well. However, after I have done my research, I find the radio remote is not compatible with iPod classic perfectly…
Do you think it is a good idea for me to wait a new radio remote (maybe) or later Apple will release update?
    Thanks

I use my Radio Remote with a Classic; it does everything that it had with my 5G-Video EXCEPT it will not allow me to set radio stations, either with the Radio Remote's control or the iPod's control.
I have spoken with an iPod specialist (Apple Care) and according to him Apple has acknowleged less than 100% compatibility/functionality with the Radio Remote and the Classics. One of the reasons, he stated, was that several 5G-Video iPods were "getting fried" when the Remote was not fully connected to the docking-port. So Apple has decided to reengineer the port [for better a connection, I gather]. What puzzles me the most about the new generation of iPods is why they were rolled out without warning customers that their Car-Charger, Video Player, dock, AV Cable, or APPLE'S OWN Remote will not play nice with each other!
This go around, it's find out the hard way.

  • Radio remote destroyed my Apple Ear Buds

    Hi
I was using my apple ear buds for 4 months now, all he sudden after i got the radio remote, the left ear bud's volume dropped by 2 db, that is allot, not to mention bass frequencies out of phase now.
I can say from 16 years of recording records that the ear buds have been damaged, and i can not see how it was due to excessive volume but something with the remote, or maybe just was a matter of time due to the quality of the materials.
My ear buds, i have ONE question, will apple replace them of they have not a scratch?
    http://store.apple.com/Catalog/US/Images/lmaltviewm9394ga.jpg

Apple will replace them if they are still under
    warranty.
    http://depot.info.apple.com/ipod/
This is the iPod warranty, not the ear buds.
I wonder how i will have to go about this.

  • Does the Apple Radio Remote work after the update?

Anyone try it after the update? I know it didn't work before...
And a side question, since there doesn't seem to be anywhere to ask...are the support forums (especially logging in) constantly crashing Safari (Mac version, desktop) for you?

The Apple Radio Remote I am assuming you mean the one linked below
    http://www.apple.com/ipod/accessories.html
It would be the accessory attached to a ipod.
IF this is the accessory your referring too. Then please note that the compatible devices that it works with is only ipods and not the iphone. Check the link below for yourself.
    http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/wa/RSLID?mco=B9E C42BD&nplm=MA070G/C
If you wish to have this accessory available for the iphone then leave feedback below
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html
And no logging into the forums is quirky but it does not affect my safari especially not crashing.

  • Has Anyone Found the New Version of the  iPod Radio Remote?

    Hi,
Per iLounge, Apple released an updated ipod radio remote that has the most current version of Apple's ipod headphones as opposed to the shortened ones. I've checked on-line, Best Buy, Circuit City Compu World, Micro Center with no luck. I aslo tried the bricks-and-mortar Apple store...they looked at me like I had ten heads. Apparently they have the same sku as the old set.
I posted a question to Apple Support, but no response yet. Has anyone found the new version anywhere?
    Thanks

Thanks. I've submitted requests to Apple to find out if or when they will be shipping the new remote, but they have not responded within their promoted 24-hour timeframe. I'll try to order from Apple directly and hope I get the new headphones too!
    Thanks

  • How do i get my ipod radio/remote replaced?

I bought my ipod radio/remote back in October and its suddenly stopped working. It is detected by the ipod (classic) as it brings up the radio option on the menu and also the volume up and down controls still work. However none of the other controls work at all.
Ive plugged it into my old ipod (video) that my girlfriend uses and it has exactly the same problem.
According to my receipt from the apple store its guaranteed until October 08 so do i need to take it back to the store or can i just get another one directly to me by apple?

You can either take it back to the Apple Store (make a Genius Bar appointment on your computer the day you decide to go: it is a little busy at all of them right now) or go here: http://www.apple.com/support/oss/

  • Question about the "iPod radio remote"

I assume the "radio remote" is the same for every country and is under software control. I want to buy in Canada but use in UK and Canada.
Has anyone got one and seen the RDS work, in the UK almost every FM channel is RDS. Do they have RDS in Canada (Toronto) can anyone confirm?
And of course it says FM so this again I assume no AM, not that I need AM it was just an interest in if it could do it.
What happens about headphones, you can plug a pair into the remote, can you still plug into the bottom of the iPod or does the remote connector get in the way.
What is the story with "line out" I use this all the time as I amp my headphones. So I assume you cant use line out? or is the remote a line out also.
And I assume the remote cable and you headphones act as the aerial, how is the quality? Is it any good indoors, some little FM radios I have used drop to mono indoors. Does this Apple one frop to mono if the signal is weak?
Someone that has one can perhaps answer
    Cheers
    Ray

I can at least answer some of the questions.
The RDS function on this radio/remote is poor in the
UK. You have to set the radio function on the iPod
to "Europe" and when you do this RDS info is not
displayed on almost all radio stations such as
Virgin, XFM, Capital, GLR, etc. It does display on
Radio 2 however. At least, this is my finding. So
it's unpredictable at best. Setting the radio to
"USA" on the iPod increases the likelihood of getting
the RDS to display, but the downside is that you can
then only tune the radio in increments of 2mhz which
is a bit awkward if your looking for 89.1mhz!
There are three settings for the radio which you
choose via the iPod. They are USA/Europe/Japan. No
setting for Canada, although I'm sure you will still
be able to use it over there as I can still use mine
here in the UK even if it's set to USA.
No, there is no AM radio.
You can plug headphones into the remote or the
headphone jack on the iPod, or both at the same time.
I'm not sure I understand your question about the
bottom of the iPod. The radio plugs into the iPod
    via the dock connector.
There is no 'line out' on the iPod. If you mean the
one on the dock, then no you can't use it as you
cannot place the iPod into the dock whilst the
radio/remote is connected as they use the same
    connector.
Yes the cable of the remote acts as the aerial.
Reception is surprisingly good where I am, but it
will of course depend on where you use it. I've
used it indoors without any drop in signal or it
    dropping to mono.
Lastly, you need to update the software for both the
nano or the 5th generation for the radio to work
(after you do this a radio function appears in the
menu), and some users have found that doing this
screws up the iPod. I have mine working on both the
nano and the 5th gen without any problems.
There is a review of the radio/remote here. I like
mine and consider it a worthwhile accessory, but of
course there will be those who disagree.
    iPod
    Radio/Remote Review.
    Thank you for the reply.
Think your right USA or Europe will work in Canada.
Yes I mean the line out via the dock, I just wondered if the remote become a line out socket (I also use a pocket dock for line out for headphone amp as I use a pair of Sennheiser HD600 with my ipod) but of course that is silly becasue you have a volume control on the remote and line out is normaly fixed.
Based on your views I shall get one in March when in Toronto
    Cheers

  • Is there a bluetooth adaptor for an old iPod classic (160 GB) that also works like a radio remote?

Is there a bluetooth adapter for an old iPod classic (160 GB) that also works like a radio remote?  I have a bluetooth headset and I want to listen to FM radio on my iPod.
Or is there a better way than to use an adapter in order to listen to  the radio on an iPod with a bluetooth headset?
    TIA!

Have you updated your iPod and iTunes sofware?
most cases, iTunes can play these high quality songs, which is meant for newer mobile devices like  iPhones, iPod Touch, nano and iPad, which the older iPod cant play, but only playable with iPod classic sofware version 2.0.4
most likely it is an incompatible song format, read this Apple support article.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1334?viewlocale=en_USet
If  your iPod software is version 1.1.2, then you have to use lower quality format.
Can you select the problematic song, and Advance -> create iPod version

  • 2 new radio remotes not working on 2 new iPods. Any ideas?

I bought 2 new video iPods 3 weeks ago from the Apple store in Florida. (1 black, 1 white - so I assume different batches.) They both worked fine with no problems until I came home and bought a radio remote in the UK.
The remote didn't work at all and seemed to drain the power from the iPod as soon as it was plugged in, the screen faded and the iPod switched off. The only way to get it on again was to unplug the radio and plug in the usb charger for a few seconds. This was the same with both iPods.
Called Apple who thought the remote was faulty so they sent out a new one. New one has just arrived and it does the same thing, again on both iPods.
Apple are sending out yet another remote, but I'm concerned there may be some sort of compatability issue with certain video iPods maybe? Would there be any difference between UK bought and USA bought items that could cause a problem? I don't really see how but it seems strange that it happens to both iPods. Maybe just sheer bad luck to get 2 faulty radios?
iPods are up to date btw - 1.2.1
Anyone any suggestions or had similar problems?
      Windows XP Pro

Yip, back in the UK and no, no ipod stores near me, it's all done via the helpline and the PO.
The latest replacement radio arrived today. It works on the black iPod but not on the white one. It drains the power on the white one, as did the others.
I think I may have had 2 issues here....faulty radios but also a faulty iPod maybe.
