PS: I have recently reset the NVRAM on this machine not sure if there are any env settings I should have setup in OBP (I reset HOST ID and MAC-ADDRESS).

    disk@0,0:a is slice/partition 0
    disk@0,0:b is slice/partition 1
I'm not sure where you told it your swap slice was going to be. Looks like slice 1. Mini-root gets installed in slice 1 and then the install begins from there.
In the future, if you just "boot cdrom" from disk 1 of 2 you won't run into these issues.

  • Sol - Intel - cannot mount root - J Keil

    J Keil,
Some how my first messages were deleted off your site - none the mater.
As you suggested, I changed target hard drive to Sec Master and Cd to Sec Slave. Like before I get a similar message, from the install CD:
Cannot mount root on /pci@0,0/pci-ide@7,1/ide@1/sd@1,0:a fstype ufs
    panic[cpu0]/thread=fec17540: vfs_mountroot: cannot mount root
I downloaded CD 1 again, burn't image - I still get "Cannot find boot.bin." Error message.
    Phil

I copied this over to the intel install board. Sorry
    I lost it

    Hi JTB,
There is not currently a patch for Solaris, but you may want to take a look at the following articles that address the use of GPIB-ENET devices with Solaris 8:
    GPIB-ENET/100 Fails with Solaris 8
Unable to Use the GPIB-ENET with LabVIEW under Solaris
Again, I recommend trying to monitor the specific commands you are executing and where the error is occurring in order to isolate the issue.

  • ACPI Tables not in Reclaim Memory, panic[cpu0]/thr

I try to do exactly the same. I do not think that the solution is to disable ACPI or to install Solaris 7.
    The Steps I did:
I also get the WARNING messages when starting with the installation CD #1 (not the setup CD):
ACPI Tables not in Reclaim Memory
    and in Bus Enumeration
Warning: Resource Conflict - both devices are added
    The device is PNP0C01.
So far, so good, warnings are not errors.
then boot the solaris kernel from CD#1
    type in the following:
    b kadb -d<enter>
    :c<enter>
    the result is the following:
    panic[cpu0]/thread=fec17540: BAD TRAP: type=d (General Protection Fault) rp=fec12a94 addr=0
    General Protection Fault
    pid=0, pc=0xfe80f2f6, sp=0xfe808eb6, eflags=0x10002
    and so on.....
    Do you have any solution?
    kind regards
    adrian

On usenet, you've at least mentioned that the system uses
a pentium 4 cpu. That is not supported under solaris 8
    (yet).
Search this forum for "pentium 4" discussions. There's
a kadb patch posted that apparently allows installing
    solaris 8 on a pentium 4 system.

  • Cannot mount root

    Hi.
I just installed the Solaris 8 from CD on Enterprise 420R. Went through the Install process ok. Formatted the disk in the process and accepted the system boot partition size of 512MB. Rebooted and now I get an error:
panic CPU0, cannot mount root, and then it reboots in the loop.
Any ideas what is wrong and how to get back to the boor prompt?
    Thanks a lot!

    Again, the detail error is
Cannot mount root on /pci@0,0/pci-ide@7,1/ide@0/sd@1,0:a fstype ufs
    panic[cpu0]/thread=fec17440:vfs-mountroot:cannot mount root

Agreed, seems like a PCI bus error.
Data flowing through SB4 didn't like something, so cpu11 barked out a complaint.
Perhaps it was something passing to or from your storage
or to and from the other partner pair.
Install Explorer, as per Public Infodoc 82329,
run it to gather a system configuration snapshot,
and then go open a support case with Sun.
At the very least, you'll find it was simply a result of a typo
in the modifications you were making to your configuration.
Best to let Sun Techsupport figure this out for you.

  • [SOLVED] cannot find root device after pacman -Syu

Today I had a problem after pacman -Syu. Of course, my problem stemmed from not paying attention to the following (from https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=57205):
    <b>Read pacman's output while upgrading.</b>
I could no longer boot. I received a message "cannot find root device" or something similar indicating a device with the appropriate UUID had not been found and I was being dropped into a recovery shell, then, when I typed exit, an emergency shell, followed shortly by a freeze.
After some investigation it appeared my initramfs was broken/non-existent/something after the install. I booted into a live CD and found that updating pacman again, and mkinitcpio -p linux both displayed the following error: "Failed to create temporary working directory in /tmp". Long story short: mktemp was segfaulting. This should be extremely easy to check if you're having a similar problem. I replaced it with the version on the live CD and ran the pacman update again. Success. If you do this, you may need to make sure your live cd architecture and installed kernel architecture are the same.
I'm not sure of the etiquette here, so I'm posting this in case someone else has the same problem I did; and benefits from a similar solution. I have checked the etiquette post and I don't think it's clear whether it's kosher to post things that don't actually require a solution. However, if I have misinterpreted the rules/etiquette and/or this type of post is considered extraneous please remove it.

You have to use lvm first.  As all those vg*, lv*, and pv* commands are actually links to the lvm command, you should have to do something like "lvm vgscan" instead of just "vgscan".
Edit: oh and at that point in the boot process, you are actually in the initramfs still (ash to be specific).
Edit2: I was having issues with a USB keyboard and a new machine (actually just a new bios), and found out that because of windows 8's requriement for a fast POST, the default is to turn off the scanning for usb devices.  Though this was for UEFI, and I am not sure if the same would apply for a bios booting machine...

  • Internal Error: Cannot destroy root table.

    Hi Everyone!
I am working on a Pagemaker 7 doc, and when I try to delete a duplicate page Pagemaker shows me the following message: "Internal Error: Cannot destroy root table" then the desired page is not deleted.
    Can anybody help me?

    >tive os mesmos problemas mencionados acima...
I had the same problems mentioned above...
There are several different problems mentioned above. Did you have them all?
    >instalei o Scribus de http://www.scribus.net/ refiz o documento nele e pronto, gerou PDF e arquivos de publicação, para gráfica , FUNCIONA muito bem excelente
I installed Scribus from ..., remade the document in it, and soon it generated PDFs and files for publication, for graphics, IT WORKS very well excellent
Good for you, your problem seems to be solved.
    > è claro que a adobe recomenda que se migre para o indesign, mas além do custo adiciona, temos que lembrar as centenas de arquivos que temos e que provavelmente estarão perdidos...
    >...certamente não existirá mais um suporte adequado às nossas necessidades nem desenvolvimento, nem sequer estarão preocupados com as compatibilidades e as nossas intermináveis horas produzindo documentos
it's clear that Adobe reccomends to move on to In_Design but, apart of the additional cost, we must remember the hundreds of files we have and that we will probably loose...
... certainly there will no longer be adequate support for our need for development, not even a concern about compatibilities and the endless hours we have spent producing documents
Well, it has been commented for years now that PageMaker is an obsolete program. It's all right for you to rant, but you certainly knew what you were doing when you kept on using it despite the many warnings.
    > ... ainda sobre erros internos, alguém sabe como recuperar arquivos que acusam internal error index ??? quase todos os colegas editoradores que ainda usam o pagemaker depois de julho de 2007 estão encontrando este tipo de erro em suas produções...
... continuing with internal errors, anyone knows how to recover files showing an internal index error??? Almost every publishing colleague still using PageMaker after July 2007 have been receiving this error in their documents...
Please read message #7 above. And if you need further help, don't forget to give details about your setup. For example: are you using PageMaker in 9.2.2, or in OSX Classic? What OS version? What PageMaker version?

Check the ports of Web services and those of BPEL, as Hambo have different communication ports.
Normally Webservices point to the port 8080 and BPEL to 18181 or 9084.
    Check and I accounts.
    Greetings.

  • Main thread is busy, cannot receive callbacks

    Hi,
I'm using the measurement studio activeX control to program my application. (NI-DAQ 6071E) My main thread is always busy because there's a lot of calculating and graphing. I'm using the CWAI control to do continuous caputuring. When the program is very busy for displaying the data, it will miss the callbacks or give error. My question is, is it possible to create measurement studio controls in a worker thread, so that the callbacks will be recieved in the worker thread? If not possible, is there any work around? I tried to use windows messageas to get around. The program is it still need to go through the main thread. The bottom line is callbacks cannot have anything to do with main thread. Thank you.

In general, free threading in Visual Basic 6 is not supported. If you can't take no for an answer, though, check out Chapter 13 of Advanced Visual Basic 6 : Power Techniques for Everyday Programs.
Another option would be to upgrade to VB.NET. For more information, see HOW TO: Create Threads in Visual Basic .NET and INFO: Roadmap for Threading in Visual Basic .NET.

Hello! Try booting from the install cd and see if disk utility will see and repair it. Other than that DiskWarrior will probably be your best shot. Tom
