can someone (ie a mod) please help.been without a phone line and broadband now for three weeks had three different dates when situation would be resolved and still awaiting a satisfactory solution.promises of returned phone calls to my mobile have not happen on two occasions.
I fail to see how in the 21st century in one of the most technically advanced countries in the world we have to wait three weeks for this to be resolved.
I have been told the fault is due to collapsed ducting and they had to dig a trench to resolve it.How long does it take to dig a trench?
effectivley I am paying for my landline and broadband via Bt who are not providing the service.
when you ring up you effectivly get apologetic lip service but no one takes ownership of the problem either as an company (bt blame open reach who it appaers to me to be unaccountable) or individual employees (WE WILL RING YOU BACK BUT DONT).
A company is judged how it reacts to problems and BT has been nothing short of appaling so far.
Does anyone know how I can esculate my situation? or own the problem and see it through to a resolution or can a member advise the most effective way to formally complain to someone like a governing body to but me back into the year 2013.

if the ducting is under a public road/pavement then openreach will need permission from the council before they can start digging - councils are not re-knowned for there speed in granting permission

  • Abysmal customer care.

    About 10am on Thursday, and engineer appeared in my back garden, knocked on the door and said he’d have to disconnect my phone for about 2 hours as they needed to work on a pole down the street.  I hadn't called them as my phone and Internet were absolutely fine; there were no problems at all. 5 minutes later, I lost connection.
    Hours later, they still hadn’t reconnected me or come back to say that they’d finished.  When I went out to look – they’d packed up and left.  I called BT – and it took hours to get through. They tried to say it was down to me and said they’d get someone round to have a look in a WEEK’s time.
    I need the phone and Internet.  I pointed out that as they had come and disconnected me, the least they could do would be to return and undo whatever they had done ASAP. I spent all day yesterday trying to sort it out.  Promises to phone back were unfulfilled and when someone finally did get in touch, he said it would take him 24 hours to get me reconnected.  Still waiting to hear from them – still no Internet or phone.
    BT makes it almost impossible for you to get in touch with them, impossible to get a clear update and for most of the time all they say is, ‘I’m sorry, I can’t do anything about that’.
    Surely, the courteous thing for the engineers to do was to come back, tell me they’d finished and checked that I was reconnected again before moving on.  The very least they could have done when I informed them they’d done something to my connection was to come back and rectify it.
    I’m very disappointed with the way BT has handled this – very poor quality customer care indeed.  Still trying to get them to come back and see what the problem is and as I work from home over the weekend, loss of internet has been exceptionally inconvenient. They seem to think its OK to just arrive unannounced, cut you off and then leave you for days and days without bothering to do anything about it!

    BT do not provide or maintain the external network. This is done by Openreach who work for all service providers. BT do not get any special treatment.

  • Abysmal Customer Care from BT - Will Now Take My ...

    In common with others on these boards, I am sorry to say that my recent experience of BT has been so poor that I will now be taking my business elsewhere.
    It would take all evening to explain the various ins and outs of my problems, but suffice to say that having spent an hour and a half on the phone to BT customer service last weekend and been transferred to a variety of different departments, I still do not have BT Sport despite ordering it at the same time as I upgraded to Infinity a couple of months ago.
    After calling BT again this evening and insisting at the outset of the conversation that I was not prepared to spend another hour and a half being transferred between departments, I very pleasant and - surprise, surpise - efficient customer service person called Dan could tell me within five minutes that the reason I still don't have BT Sport is because I have an old silver box!
    I am furious - I had viewed the relevant BT Forums before calling last weekend, and suspected that this might be the issue, so mentioned it during the course of the conversation but was assured that I would definitely be able to get BT Sport through my 'fibre cable' and that my original order for BT Sport had not been fulfilled because of technical issues caused by the fact that I had two BT accounts, one for broadband and another for my phone line and BT TV ( BT'S silly sytem at the time I first became a BT customer!).  
    At no time during the original call I made to order Infinity and BT Sport was it ever mentioned that I would need to upgrade - and pay for - a new box and I feel very strongly that BT Sports was mis-sold to me: the length of time it has taken for BT to get round to telling me this simply adds insult to injury.  Oh, and while we are on the subject, no-one at BT told me that the new Infinity hub doesn't come with a handset, unlike the old hub, and so I if I wish to use my landline, I will have to go out and buy a new handset!  Another instance of not communicating essential information, and again involving additional expenditure.
    I really can't bear the rigmarole involved in ringing BT customer service yet again to complain about all of this and so, no matter how much I like your products BT, your customer service is absolutely appalling and I have already visited the regulator's website this evening to ascertain the procedure for formalising my complaint.  In the meantime, I will no doubt have to do battle over the cancellation charges BT will impose but as far as I am concerned, a contract requires both parties to fulfill their obligations, and as of now, I have no phone and no BT Sport, so goodbye BT - there must be someone out there who wants my business more than you do!

  • Laptop shuts down after sleep mode, help please!

    When I close the lid or press the sleep mode button, my laptop goes into sleep mode and everything is ok. However, when I open the lid or press the power button to awake it... after a few seconds, my laptop shuts down! I just formatted my laptop to the factory settings hoping to fix the issue, but it persists. Please help!

    Hi All
    I wonder if anyone can help and advise me on a problem
    i have a page created in ibooks author
    it contains graphics, text and text boxes with a picture frame and a gradient fill inside; however when I switch from landscape mode to portrait mode the text box I created that needs to be after all the text created is either above the text or hidden behind a scrollable blue line with  up and down arrows.
    this is really anoying me and can't see how to fix the problem

    Here's the deal - often enough, a certain layout subtlety (defined as 'do this to do that') is found to be predicated on one or more specific templates.
    In order to debug an issue, that if solved relies on a template that the book in question doesn't use, the process can mean that there is no direct path towards xyz solution...only that the issue is spotlighted.
    This can mean the issue is compounded by the original choice of template, which in turns mean that the solution is to change templates and most likely start over.
    I don't know for a fact that your issue would be rectified by changing templates, and I'm not up for doing all the work to (a) find the proper template and (b) throughly refit your content to test the voracity of that template's ability to solve this one issue, sorry. Keep in mind there may be a very direct/simple solution with your book as-is...only by debugging it would you know

    Okay. This all makes sense now. And why the OP originally thought after chimes. He is right. San Lewy, I always thought you couldn't do it through bluetooth as well. From CNET:

  • Having trouble streaming NBA league pass from my MBP to my TV in full screen mode, help please.

    So i have the Moshi mini dp and the apple hdmi cable. I cannot stream from my MBP to my TV in FULL sceen mode cleanly with 720p resolution. When NOT hooked up to my TV the MBP has no problem going fullscreen perfectly, then, when I connect the mini dp to the MBP and TV it gets messed up on both the TV and MBP. The last caveat is that it streams PERFECTLY in NON full screen mode, but, the second I change it to full screen, blamo! It gets all messed up. One thing I did that is really just a 'work around' was decreased my resolution, no longer 720p >:(  and this is not satisfactory to me.  Any suggestions?

    Any help to increase the resolution quality of my DV file will be EXTREMELY HELPFUL.
    For faster editing iMovie 08 & 09 uses single-field processing. This means every other horizontal line of the video is thrown out, which reduces the sharpness of the footage. iMovie 06 uses all of the image, I think you will find it looks better.
    iMovie 06 and iDVD 09 is a terrific combination.

    I can't connect to database during the installation of soa suite just because I can't get over the page "Specify Database Connect Information". That might be something wrong with the hostname.

    New IPhone owner. Want to/have to use Bluetooth for hands free driving. Efforts to "pair" phone with car's system unsuccessful so far. Help would be appreciated.
    Specs: IPhone 8gb purchased yesterday. Running Version 1.1.3. Vehicle is 2008 BWM X5.
    Advised by BMW Bluetooth techs to try to get download of version 1.1.2 because vehicle's system may not recogize 1.1.3.
    OK, how do I get 1.1.2? If I get it, will it erase 1.1.3 on IPhone? How do I speak to an Apple/Bluetooth/vehicle expert?

    Did you call Apple Care? They could at least walk you thru the sync. Mine took a few attemps to sync with my Landrover's bluetooth.
