Re: group calls free, cancelled Premium, getting c...

I too signed up for Skype premium and I can't find a way to cancel. Every month my credit card is charged $9.99...I tried to go to my settings and everything else on this page to cancel but nothing works. So do I have to call my credit card company to stop the recurring payments?

    Skype,
I signed up for Premium a month ago specifically for group calls.  I now see group calls are for free.  great!   I immediately cancel Premium, and am now being told I have to pay through Jan 2015??
I'm assuming Skype saw this was going to happen and has a resolution for it.  But a customer cancelling a service after Skype makes that service's most popular componant free should not result in the customer having to pay for it anymore one would think?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I've recieved an email today detailing what's going to be happening to my Skype Premium subscription. The account will be automatically updated and I won't have to do anything myself.
A few changes to your Premium account
Group video calling is now free. But as a big thanks for being a Premium subscriber, we're giving you calling to countries around the world at no extra cost.
That means you'll get all the perks of Premium, plus unlimited1 calls to phones in over 60 countries/regions — all for the same rate you're paying now.
    Here’s what you'll now get…
Unlimited1 calls to mobiles in 8 countries/regions and landlines in 63—see our full list.
Up to 10 people together on a group video call.2
Live chat support when you need it.3
The same great ad-free4 Skype you’re used to.
So, it seems for £41.26 per annum (what I'm paying now) I'll be getting the Skype World Unlimited (previously would have been £117.12).
I know some members are asking for refunds but it seems you're going to be getting Skype World Unlimited instead.
For me it's OK, but I would have preferred the option to upgrade to Unlimited Europe with calls to mobiles & landlines in Europe.

  • Video group calling - can t cancel the subscriptio...

    guys....
i need help on that. whenever i try to cancel or go to settings for video group calling skype premium settings the page is not displayed. I don t think there is problem with my internet options settings because it says  reload the page later. this thing comes every time i try to change the settings. i don t  want group video calling subcription and some how get charged for that every month

I believe the fact that the option to cancel is not available on your account page is a bug, and I think Skype is aware of it.
Until/unless that gets fixed, contact Customer Service through this link to cancel your subscpription:

  • Group Calls Now Free to All Users

Does this mean I can cancel my premium account, as this was the primary reason I needed it?

  • Skype Premium - Improved group calling?

    Hi there,
I regularly host Skype calls with 6-8 people across four continents (US, UK, East Africa and SE Asia). The sound quality is okay, but when the number of participants goes over 5+ people our calls tend to get dropped after a few minutes. It is a frustrating process of dialing back in.
I am thinking of upgrading to Skype Premium. I'm not interested in the video conferencing feature (the bandwith of my colleagues in Africa and Asia won't support that), but I am wondering whether the upgrade will improve our dropped calls situation?
Otherwise, does Skype have any other products or solutions to improve group calling or improve call quality in general?
    Thank you!

Hi and welcome to the Skype Community,
Skype Premium would not affect quality of your audio only group calls. So if you are not into group video calling, the live chat customer service option or advertising removal Skype Premium is not something for you.
Please follow the steps in this guide on improving call quality: https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA12097/solving-call-quality-problems-windows-desktop

Customer Service just cancelled my chat when I asked for the # to call to cancel service. Can I get that #? We want to get new phones and Verizon will not offer any kind of deal.

*611 or 1-800-922-0204 and cancel. However if you cancel on the phone you lose your cell numbers.
If you just go to the carrier of choice, you port out and keep your cell numbers.

  • Keep getting missed calls/missed group calls

Something really strange has been happening for the past week or so. I keep getting missed calls/group calls from "Bastian" and "Anonymous", none of these people are on my contact list and my iphone never rings when they try and call me. I just get a notification to say "missed call". The strange thing is when I swipe the notification to check my skype history none of these calls exist. There is never a missed call on skype for desktop either. On my desktop I have my privacy set to "only allow contacts to call me". Please explain what is going on with these ghost calls and how I can prevent this?

Hi, I've got the same problem. Tried everything including contacting the person and asking to leave me alone. Nothing seems to work. Hopefully someone knows the solution

  • Skype Group Video: Free for everyone or not?

I've been paying for Skype Premium for 2 years now for group video chat.  Now I read EVERYWHERE including Skype's website that says Skype Group Video chat is now free.   So I chat with a Skype customer service guy to find out why I was charged for Skype Premium and why I even need it anymore. He tells me Group Video is NOT free for everyone and that it's coming in the near future.  I asked him why the FRONT PAGE of Skype.com says it's free and all he says it that it's not free.
Anyone know what the deal is?
Here's page 2-3 for our chat log:

    Would there be anything else?

Indeed we had some changes recently with Group Video calling becoming a free feature in Skype. Some further reading here: http://blogs.skype.com/2014/04/28/skype-loves-bringing-groups-together-with-free-group-video-calling...
We therefor upgraded Skype Premium subscriptions as detailed here: https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA34454/what-s-new-with-group-video-calling
The Skype Premium subscription you have includes an unlimited calling option to a country of your choice. This should get upgraded to an "Unlimited World" subscription allowing you to call 60+ countries while keeping the same subscription price. This upgrade hasn't seem to have happened yet for your account though.

  • Group calling and business account

We are a small non-profit organization with one main facility and 5 remote facilities who want to be able to use Skype group video calling to connect all of our locations. I am unclear on what subscription I need. Do I need just one premium account at the main office and then use seperate personal accounts at the other remotes to connect in to the group call started by the main office, or would I have to get premium subscriptions for EVERY site? We plan on just purchasing a few flat panel TV's and connecting them to a WinXP or Win7 PC with the Logitech HD C920 cameras at each loaction. Does this sound like the way to go? Since we are non-profit, actually 501(c)(3) qualified, is there any discounts from Skype for these companies? Thanks!!

  • Option to mute individual group call participants

[Idea title updated by moderator to be more descriptive. Original topic title was: "Free Unbelievable Call Kleptomaniac "]
I believe that you should be able to adjust the volumes of seperate people in a skype call. For Example, if you are in a group call and one of your friends has quite a loud microphone and the other has a quiet one, you should be able to just turn the volume down of the loud one from regular. Do you see what I am getting at? Also, it would be nice to completely mute people in the call if there is a lot of background noise or if you dislike them.

I think this is an must have feature. Not only is it invaluable when dealing with other people with high or low volume mics in a group call, but it's good to be able to mute people on an individual basis for many reasons. One such reason is when you have 2 or more people in the same room who are in a group call with people elsewhere. The easiest solution would to simply have a mute button.  Tsuimonster,  it wouldn't be chaos. I think you misunderstood. It would be for an individual to control another individuals volume for him/herself only. It wouldn't affect how others in the call hear the individual. I think that was obvious. We wouldn't want people randomly muting others in a large call and have no one realize that person was muted. I don't think anyone was suggesting it be implemented that way. I don't see any shortfalls to allowing one individual to control the volume of another individual for himself. It would greatly save time and make certain situations much more convenient. I like to use skype, but this single option being missing is forcing me to use teamspeak in many situations.

  • Group calls to China

Hi,  I'm trying to have a conference call from Canada to a group in China but the reception is terrible.  Can we get skype premium to improve this service.  I don't see China listen in the countries served.  Does anyone have advice about improving quality of conference / group calls to China?  Thanks.  pabrook

Skype premium does not improve the quality of any given call
it sounds like your issue is much more likely to be related to router or internet issues that Skype has no direct control over
can you host comparable test group calls in Canada or the US with acceptable call quality?
    Regards,
    Neil

  • Verizon sent out an order I called to cancel, I returned the phones as they told me to, yet after months of calls, I am in the pre-collections stage

So this journey started back in October. I was with sprint, and wanted out of their service, my contract was up, so I went with Verizon as they are the best in my area for service. My original order was for 2 iPhone 6's and an iPhone 5s. Upon finding out that I would only receive a $200 credit for my old iPhones if I bought only iPhone 6's, I called to cancel that order. Due to the fact the iPhone 6's were backordered they could not cancel my order, but they stated they would make notation on my account so that the order wouldn't ship. So, I then placed a new order for three iPhone 6's to qualify for the promotion. The beginning of November I received three boxes, and too my surprise, it was the first (original) order containing two iPhone 6's and an iPhone 5s. I called Verizon, and they said just send them back, don't open them. I was told there were return labels in the boxes, and there were not. So I then called the local Verizon store to see if I could return them there, they said, no it was an online order, so you have to send them back in. I then went to the website to print return labels, but both links where this was supposedly possible, the links did not work, dead links. At this point I called Verizon back who made a call on my behalf to the Verizon Store to return the phones there. I drove to the store, and when I got there, they suggested I just return the iPhone 5, as they had a 6 in stock, activate these phones, and cancel the second order, so I did. I then called and cancelled the second order, with the same issue, phones were backordered, so notation would be made to the account. Low and behold, 2 weeks later, 3 new iPhone 6's showed up at my door. So I went through the process again, calling customer service, canceling the service and having Verizon send me return labels for the phones. Five days later the return labels showed up, and I immediately returned the phones. I was told as soon as the phones were scanned by Fedex that a $635.97 refund would be issued to my card ( thats right two charges totaling almost $1300). Well that was not the case, It took a few weeks, but the refund was finally issued. Here's were the bigger problems begin, I received my first bill for those lines of service. I called Verizon as I thought this was odd, as the phones had never been out of the box or activated. So, phone call after phone call, Customer Service Rep after Customer Service Rep, I was told that the lines are now cancelled and you will be credited. Well a month goes by, and we are at the end of November, and I get a bill for over $500 dollars. I then call customer service again, tell them my story, stay on the line with patience waiting for the answer, and I am told again things are resolved. November 30th roles around, and I get another bill stating that my lines are disconnected due to non-payment. I call, and spend 52 minutes on the phone with a Customer Service Rep who tells me that everything is all set, he gives me the totals that are to be credited to my account, and I assume everything is well, as I receive no more letters or bills. Well flash forward to January 20, 2015, and I receive a call from an odd number, which turns out is a collection agency for Verizon, as my account is in pre-collections. Can you imagine my frustration, to be honest I am quite upset, so I again call customer service and get pushed to an account specialist. I relay my story, for and I am not joking, the 12th time, at which point I am informed that he cannot help me as the account is closed, and I will have to wait until 7am tomorrow morning to call back and speak with another account specialist. I am so frustrated with this entire situation, keep in mind I still have three active lines with Verizon that have been paid early every month since October. My real question is how many more times am I going to have to call to get this resolved? I have tried more than a dozen times to get this issue fixed, and here I am three months later still fighting this, it is just plain ridiculous and terrible business. How can you charge a customer for phones that he doesn't even have, thats right, I was issued a $635.97 refund on 11/13/2014, so how can I be charged for phones that were returned, and never taken out of the box. Also, how are they magically activated when they are still sealed in their original boxes. Needless to say I will continue to fight this issue, but rest assured, if this issue is not resolved tomorrow morning, I will be seeking legal counsel to fight these charges, as I do not want Verizon's poor customer service to harm my credit score that I have worked so hard to build to what it is now.
Where is the help Verizon, because as of now, it is non existent.

Thanks for the additional information AudiophileBen! Time is of the essence when it comes to special promotions. When did you process this purchase? If the promotion was not available when you purchased, then you are not eligible for it. I recommend visiting the store with your receipts showing your $100 discount if you purchased after the promotion started.

  • The call was cancelled by the caller before the remote party answered

    Hi,
We have a Lync 2010 Enterprise deployment in a single site with 2 FE and Mediation Server collocated.
When dialling a number from a PSTN phone the call gets routed via our PBX/PBX Gateway/Mediation Server/FE Server to the desktop Lync client successfully.
As soon as the user answers the call with the Lync client the call 'hangs' and terminates without hearing anything on either side.
    The snooper logs show:

What kind of gateway are you using to connect to your PBX and how?  What is your media set to?  G.711 μ-law or a-law?  I'd check media settings there as a starting point.
