Re-installed OS X, Now my web-site is gone

I was having major problems with OS X. So I deleted everyting and started from scratch. I created a new site in iWeb. I can see some old and the new files in my iDisk.
However, I can't publish the site. Do I need to completely erase my iDisk and start over? Thanks.

No problems here either, make sure that if you are typing the full url:
http://web.mac.com/rietman/iWeb/Site/ the W in iWeb must be a capital W.
But as Tom says, you can just use http://web.mac.com/rietman
Your website is contianed in the domain.sites file which lives here:
User / Libarary / Application Support / iWeb / domain.sites <-- Its a good idea to keep a backup of this file!
Something that may be worth doing is Publishing All, to do this, press and hold the alt key, to the left of your left Apple key, and go to File > Publish All to .mac.
This forces everythingn to be uploaded, it may sort it out for you without the need to do anything manually.

  • Web site icons gone

I am setting up a new computer with newest v of Firefox and Windows 7.
Went to most used web sites (Home Depot, Sears etc) r clicked..pin to toolbar and they were all there. Very Happy. This morning, turned on the computer and they were gone.
What happened? How do I not lose them again?
    Thanks!

Thank you for your speedy reply.  I fouond the webpageicons.db file in the Safari file in the Libarary but once accessed asks me what software do I want to use to open it.  So I chose MSWord and got the following odd message
    SQLite format 3 @  cø‑[1]˚˚pæ![1]zyÉÅ
!A-ÅIindexIconDataIndexIconData with lots of peculiar small empty rectangles (looking like place holders???) that don't show up on my copy/pasting the text here in this response.
I don't know what to do now?
Much obliged for any info you can provide.

  • Need help! New internet service and now some web sites won't load

I just switched from Comcast cable internet to qwest DSL. I use Safari for my browser and my wife uses Firefox. I cannot get past the login portion of these sites:
    flickr.com (or any yahoo-related site)
    usbank.com
apple.com discussion forums (I'm on my PC-based laptop posting this)
Being that all of my PC-based laptops can access these sites just fine, I know it has something to do with the Mac.
First, I've emptied and cleared all my caches, deleted all cookies, reset both browsers, restarted my computer about 10 times and still cannot get past the login portion of the sites listed. I can get to the first page, but then when I go to login, it freezes up.
Had this problem with facebook at first too, but after doing what I talked about above (resetting everything), I was able to log into facebook.
Any suggestions? I'm at my wits end.
Just as an FYI, I had no problems accessing these sites with my cable internet modem.
Oh, I'm also using Safari 5.0.3 and firefox 3.6.13 (have the same problem with both of these browsers on my mac).

    Hi,
    Try repairing permissions.
Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done.
If you see any warnings re: SUID messages, they can be safely ignored, information here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1448?viewlocale=en_US

Restart your Mac. If that didn't help, go to Safari / Preferences - Autofill. Make sure *User names and passwords* is selected. Now open Keychain Access. (Applications/Utilities). Select Passwords on the left. Delete all keychains related to the sites you have problems logging in.
Relaunch Safari and try those sites. You should be prompted to save the login data to a new keychain. If that didn't help, login to another user account. Launch Safari. If you see the same problems there, then log back into your admin account, launch Disk Utility. Select MacintosHD in the panel on the left then select the FirstAid tab.
If Disk Utility reports, you will have to boot from your install disc to make repairs, instructions here.

  • Firefox does not now find web sites unless full url is entered

Since I updated Firefox, I keep getting the message:-
    Firefox can't find the file at jar:file:///C:/Program Files/Mozilla Firefox/omni.jar!/chrome/en-GB/locale/browser-region/region.propertiesyahoo.
All other web browsers that I use would pick up the entry 'yahoo' immediately. [I use the yahoo search as an example.]
This happens with the majority of searches now. I have given up trying to use the firefox search engine and wonder if it is worth the time using it at all if I forget and typr in the search only to have to re-do it again after receiving the above message. Am I doing something wrong or is there a problem here?

    Hello,
I'm afraid that site doesn't work either for me with Safari 3.0.4 on OS X 10.4.11.
The page appears to load but only displays a blank page.
The W3C (web standards consortium) validation tool shows a few errors with the site: [validation results|http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=www.kosoff.com&charset=%28detect+auto matically%29&doctype=Inline&group=0]

  • Iweb crashing every time i launch it ! after now building web site with it

This programme has started crasing as soon as i start it up for no apparent reason. It is very very bad. How on earth can apple have made something so useless. It is putting me off apple software. I have repaired disk permissions but the programme just crashes every time i start it.

Thanks Jim, but I should have mentioned before that I did try to repair permissions, with no luck.
I did some extra digging around. The "domain" file is a package, with much of the site contents hidden inside. I tried swapping things in out of a copy of that domain file and narrowed it down to a corrupt "index.xml.gz" file. I haven't found anyway of repairing that file and without it, my sites are no longer visible to iWeb

  • Upgraded to ver4 now pogo web site loads but games do not

this morning i updated to version 4, played on facebook then went to pogo. site came up but games did not load

    Thank you for that Ralph
I found that I can "customize my toolbar" and get it back as well.
Go to customize, right click the feature you would like and add it.
    That was new to me.
    Again,
    Thanks for your help.

  • Stupid web site set up.

In trying to clean some crap off my pc. I uninstalled the version of Adobe I had installed early Dec. this year. When I then tried to contact a website I used all the time it wouldn't show until I re-installed Adobe which I did.
Now the web site shows but it says a potentially harmful site is trying to access my computer. It gives me the options of clicking ''settings'' if I want to let it access and the other option is ''OK''. Excuse me for being obstinate but if ''settings'' is for ALLOWING access, then what the hell is OK for????? Sometimes I think I'm working with complete idiots.
I'm not going to click something which I have been warned is potentially harmful and I'm not going to click OK which in any REAL universe would ALSO mean accept the thing which is potentially harmful.
Secondarily, I wish they would give a phone # to talk to an actual person with a problem. They never seem to have a problem giving a # one can call to BUY something but heaven forbid someone who is already a customer should want some help in using the product THEY HAVE ALREADY PAID FOR.

First things first. Flash Player IS FREE. If you've "paid for it" you didn't do it here.
Second, the "potentially harmful" notice is about a "local" (on your hard drive) HTML or SWF file trying to connect to the internet through Flash Player. It pops up for ANY file that attempts to connect, because that's a common way to deliver malware to an unsuspecting user. I've developed Flash content since 2007 and I've seen it hundreds of times for files I made myself so I KNOW they're safe.
It's a standard alert and can be easily worked around following these steps:
    1. navigate to: http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/se ttings_manager04.html
    2. click edit locations
    3. click browse for folder
    4. find the folder that contains your html and swf and click ok
    5. you should see that folder in the "always trust files in these locations" field.
    6. using your file browser, navigate to that now trusted folder and open the flash-published html in your web browser.
    7. click your button.
If you still feel you need to talk to someone over the phone, you can call:
    1 (800) 833-6687
That's available Monday thru Friday 6am to 7pm (PST)
    And..
It's $39.99 per call, which MUST BE prepaid, and that applies whether or not your issue can be, or is, resolved.

Click here and follow the instructions, or if there’s a type of adware not covered by them on the computer, these ones. If you're willing to use a tool to remove it(you don't need to, but may find it easier), you can instead run Adware Medic; this link is a direct download.

  • After installing FireFox 17 I can no longer log on to the video web site VUDU I tried the reset and it didn't worrk now what do I do?

I was using Firefox 15 but kept getting messages to update to Firefox 17 so I did and now I cannot log into my account at VUDU.com. Which by the way is the only web site I have this problem with. It never happened with ver. 15 and only started to deny access in the past week. So why is the question of the day. What did you guys screw up with ver 17?

Using hardware acceleration means that Firefox uses the GPU instead of the CPU to do some (image) manipulations and you may not notice any effect in Firefox if you disable hardware acceleration.<br />

  • Just installed Firefox 6.0.2 for Windows 7 64-bit and having many problems on some web sites

When I go to certain web sites with Firefox:
-It won't let me log onto the forums.
-It will let me enlarge a picture maybe once or twice but that's it.
    -The videos don't show up.
-Some sites the videos do show up and work but you can't enlarge them. (YouTube works fine).
I installed the Adobe Flash player 10 plugin right after installing Firefox.
I'm able to do all this with IE9, however, after installing Firefox, some of my letters when viewed with IE9 are now in some kind of code with things like <p> (maybe html?).

  • Web Sites telling me Flash not installed, but it is?

Have some web sites such as greeting cards (more then 1) and
    such when I go
to the cards I am told that Flash is not installed. But when
    it goes to the
Adobe site I am told that 9.0.124.0 is propertly installed.
    Using the
latest version of IE 7, is this a problem that can occur?

<snip> I told them I was now thinking of abandoning all
    Adobe/Macrom
    products and going
to Quark and similar. Problem is I have a growing need for
    Flash. Does
anyone know if Adobe are going to support x64 ??
    </snip>
Threatening to migrate to Quark would give them a great
    chuckle....Quark's
days are numbered only by how long they can keep an old
    footprint. With
Adobe showing record profits with 32bit Photoshop, this is
    their Ford
Taurus.....Adobe has no motivation to be relatively
    competitive with their
other products....As with FLASH, I think it is still clumsey
    and not very
non-flasher friendly....but, they have a good footprint at
    this point. And,
Microsoft just cannot get around the bend with their creative
    products
offering no matter how many companies and technology they try
    and buy. IMHO
64bit is like being the only guy in your hood with a hydrogen
    car and
lamenting why it is harder to get serviced than every other
    model. It's
cool being unique but it comes with a price.

    Hi,
It seems there is nothing to do with IE mode.
Please make sure your link still can be accessed.
The WebBrowser displays HTML content in applications running in a Silverlight 4 or later out-of-browser applications or in Silverlight 5 in-browser trusted applications only.
