Re: mixed up on few java issues

What is java SDK?
Also I have installed a few versions of JDK, each time upgrading from older one because I was given older versions when I first started on java.
Now I have a few version on the computer, how do I find out which version I am using?

SDK = Software Development Kit
JDK is the basic Java SDK.
To find out the version you're using (assuming you've installed JDK correctly) type the following at a command prompt:
java -version

  • Just updated my MacBook Pro to 10.6.8 and now my Filemaker 11 databases (.fp7) do not view properly on my desktop.  Is this a java issue?

    Hi,
Wondering if anyone knows what's going on with my Filemaker Database that will not view properly on my desktop after upgrading from 10.5 to 10.6.8 on
my MacBook Pro.   Is this a Java issue?  The data is all there but all I see is blank boxes when I open or click on a specific area in the database.
My Java version is SE 6 1.6.0.37-bo6-434.

    Let me understand:
    - you have purchased named canon, which is conencted to your PC running windows xp
    - downloaded driver for win xp, and canon works fine
    - canon is connected to that PC via USB
    - that Canon is also activated as network printer, by allowing print sharing in windows; how did you set that option?
    - now, you are in Mac OS x 10.6.8, downloaded Canon driver for Mac OS X, installed it, detected printer on the network, printer was installed; was it detected as attached to that PC running win XP? or not?
or you set canon by being connected to your mac directly via USB?
Now, there are some questions you should answer as some details are missing, and your initial text is not clear. Can you print if Canon is connected directly to your mac? did you try that? if not, do it before answering.

Recently I upgraded my Sony Xperia Z phone (see snapshot for current upgraded system info)
After this upgarde I am facing few usability issues like ease of keyboard use
I lost all saved words from disctionary, also punctuations symbols bar at top of keyboard is missing (see image)
When I enter any wrong word and I want to delete/modify entered word.. now it deletes character by character instead of whole word (earlier behavior)

  • As of today 7-19-2011, my mouse pointer has started to flicker & when I move it I see it when I'm not It disapears disappears, this just started a while ago, could it be a jave issue?

I finished posting on games forums, and went to a different page and as I stated in the Question section, my mouse pointer stated Flickering when I move it around and when I stop, it disappears. I restarted my PC thinking that would clear it up, as my daughter was playing a game on the PC for many hours today, and I even checked to see if the browser is up to date and it is, as per Help -> About Fire Fox. This have never happened before & I have been using Fire Fox for a long time, or if it is a plugin? Or if is a Java Issue.

    Hello cor-el,
Thank you for the reply, and I did try searching first, when I did not find a solution, I post my question. I did read through the solutions and what to do, and I am using the default theme, so there was no need to disable that option. I did not even get to go through all the options to see what was causing the issue. As soon as I received a message in my e-mail that you replied, I came straight here and when I did, the issue of the Flickering mouse pointer seemed to correct it's self. It just stopped and has not happened again, since and that is why I waited to reply to you, to make sure that it had stopped.
I thank you again & greatly appreciate your assistance.

  • A few forums issues noted

Here are a few forums issues noted while reviewing the FAQ for the site.
    1) "Using Forums Forums" eyebrow text (above) is awkwardly worded.
    2) FAQ contains some
    spurious and bad links, missing
    icons,
    duplicated text, numerous
    typos, and some incorrect information.
    3) Some images in the FAQ contain obsolete information, such as the "tags" feature shown
    here.

As most of these things have not been fixed yet, I am replying so that this goes to the top of the list for a short amount of time.
    Hello,
Since the FAQ is now a WIKI, and everyone of the links that Graeme provided go to a page that says nothing more than:
"The Forums help file has been moved to the
Community Wiki. Please update any bookmarks you may have."
I am unsure what you mean by suggesting that these things have not been fixed.
If you can provide links to information that needs to be updated, we can fix that.
Better yet, since it's a wiki, YOU can fix errors or missing data!

This is a tad bit more text than I am used to, and am wondering about the console.jar and "Virtual Machines" as I"ve not seen these before. Any ideas? Anything I should worry about?
Oh, Java test site says Java is working fine and is the most recent version.

I´m also for a week now with a big problem in Mail - hundreds of messages got blank and disappeared after "rebuild", now it won´t even synchronize. I put this in a thread in the Mail forum, but solutions only go as far as backups - which I don´t have. It started after installing the last Java patch and it still the same after updating to 10.6.5 and permission repair (which shows:
Warning: SUID file "System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contents/MacOS/ARDAg ent" has been modified and will not be repaired.
to sum up: Sent mails are lost, received mails before certain dates (few days back in 1 account, years back in another and no trouble in the third one) won´t get downloaded again, even with new setup of the account - and all started after the java patch.
Help is very appreciated (maybe I can restore my sent mails from somewhere?!)
    Dani.

  • Unity - Greeting Player in Browser -- Java Issue

    Guys,
I have Unity conneciton 9.x,   The embed Java greeting player is not working..
I suspect one of these reason :
Java version ( too rescent )
    Too much security on Java
    Browser version issue
... I have try many thing,  lower security, try 3 different browser, but nothing.. .I can't see the player.
Anyone can suggest me something ?
    thanks

Is there any error message? Or the Media Master is not seen at all? And complete Unity Connection version? Output of 'show version active'.
There are a few defects with Java 7 and CUC 9,
CSCum81926 - Media Master not working properly on Internet Explorer with java 7
CSCug57088 - Cisco PCA Greetings Page Java Errors with JRE 7
CSCuo44795 - Media Master Java Error: Missing Required Permission manifest attribute

CSCtw45908 - Trap call not woking on build CUC: 9.0.0.67
CSCuo94694 - Media Master jar signing Certificate expiry issue
CSCue74920 -  Media Master Playback& Recording and Help not working with win 7/java 7
    Also try this,
Go to Control Panel > Java > Advanced Tab > Disable Verification
There is a patch released by the developers for most of the defects. Either upgrade the server to a fixed version or open a TAC case to get the patch. The patch may not solve your issue and this could be a new issue as well. Happens all the time when Java releases new versions.

  • Having Java issue with Mountain Lion upgrade

I have a few websites that run Java applets that are not working since I ugraded to Mountain Lion. I am trying to do my usertesting.com stuff and they have said that apple has not fixed this known issue yet. Is this true or am I just missing something obvious? thanks!

This is because while you've re-installed the system, you've preserved the user account. You need to do a  "clean" install meaning a reformat and install. If the Mac orginally shipped with Lion or ML you can redownload via Recovery Partition but if the Mac shipped with Leopard 10.5.x or Snow Leopard 10.6.x then you need the OEM discs that shipped with it. You can call Apple and they will send you the discs for a nominal charge.

  • Java issue with web analysis

    Hi,
Web analysis is taking too long to start on client machines. I had this issue a couple of years ago with java 1.4.10. hyperion came back with a solution to increase the memory java uses on both the server and the client.
    »Xms128m -Xmx256m -Xss2m » in the Java plug-in (Control Panel>Java plug-in>Advanced)
I cannot see on java 1.5.11 how to add this in. Java 1.5 was meant to make web analysis faster. In some environments it has but in this partilcuar case web analysis is very slow.
I would appreciate it if anyone could suggest a way to make web analysis faster.
The server environment is unix. Can a cache setting be added to java?
The client issue is the most pressing one.
    Thanks in advance,
    Nathan

    Hi,
Go to Java Control Panel, select the Java tab. You'll see Java Applet Runtime Settings section. Click View and fill the Runtime Parameter with your settings.

  • Stuck on few CSS issues mid-build

    Hi all,
Spend the last week making some good progress with a website build, but I’ve hit a few stumbling blocks I hoped the CSS pros out there might be able to help with please!

I’ve tried setting this div’s height to 100% so it expands accordingly (set to 800px right now), but when I do this it ‘disappears’ from view – i.e. the background colour vanishes and all its contents appear on a white background which is applied to the #body_container_fullwidth. Any ideas what I’m doing wrong?

    Hi osgood_,
Thanks so much for your generous help - this was hugely useful and much appreciated. I also managed to fix my top query via your overflow: hidden; suggestion too.
Everything's looking great with the exception of my little ../Images/right_button.png image which isn't showing up for some reason - I ideally want it to be flush over on the right of that greystrip - any ideas?
    Thanks again

  • What does Apple plan to do about the JAVA issue?

I was out of town on business last week and took my brand new MacBook Pro with me to stay connected to my work VPN.  However, I was unable to connect to the VPN the entire time I was away.  I found out from out IT department today that it is due to Apple not allowing any programs that require JAVA.  Is anyone else dealing with this issue?  What is being done about it?  If I cannot use my laptop to connect to my work VPN then it is useless to me.  If Apple does not come up with a solution quickly, I will be returning my brand new MacBook Pro for a windows based laptop that allows me to function at work.  This is a shame because I was very excited to have an apple laptop....very disappointing!

There was a major vulnerability in Java that was being actively exploited to drop malware on both Windows and Mac OS X. Oracle, who is responsible for Java, was slow to get a fix out, so Apple blocked the vulnerable versions of Java in the web browser. (Mozilla did the same with their Firefox browser.) Updates are now available for Java that work in Mac OS X again.
Java has been a repeat source of major vulnerabilities and malware over the last couple years. It is EXTREMELY insecure. If your business is relying on web-based Java applets for secure communications, your business' IT department is collectively insane.

  • A few setup issues

I recently installed Arch linux and I'm happy to say that I've mostly gotten everything running the way that I want it. Unfortunately there are a few problems that I've been unable to resolve. I'm running an Asus M6Ne with a 64 meg Radeon 9700M video card with the latest arch install on a Gnome Desktop.
    1) The Emerald Window Manager in Compiz Fusion refuses to load: Everything seemed to install properly and there is no error message reported it just doesn't work whenever I enable compiz fusion through fusion-icon. Which leaves a rather interesting effect of windows not having borders/titles when the compiz window manager is enabled.
    2) Gnome-display-manager sometimes refuses to load: once in a while gnome-display manager refuses to load. It may be related to the fact that I tried installing the Ubuntu Human theme and some other themes from AUR. But the themes from AUR don't appear in the appearance panel anyway so I'm not sure if they're the cause.
    3) My vmware virtual machines don't load properly: Whenever I try and run my XP Vmware image I get the error message "Failed to initialize monitor device". I did have some trouble with mkvmdev when I rebooted the system attempting to fix the problem. The Startup log essentially stated that I needed to rerun vmware-config.pl. Although rerunning that script has not solved the issue.
    4) My samba shares refuse to mount on boot: I've tried a number of different ways to get some samba shares automatically mounted on boot. The solution that has had the most success so far is putting the shares into fstab and loading it from there. However, on boot the system complains that the network is unavailable despite netfs being placed after all of the networking components are loaded in /etc/rc.conf. Strange thing is that these same shares mount just fine once the system is up and running and I run mount -a.
    5) Sound doesn't work properly: after running into some issues playing some things with ALSA I decided to try installing pulse audio. It worked well up until a reboot after which mplayer would complain about not being able to find something along the lines of pulse_audio_control (I don't remember the exact error message). Trying to get to the source of the problem I opened sound settings in preferences only to find all of the options blank. This problem persisted for a few reboots until somehow the settings finally remained at what I set them at. However the system still refuses to play sound properly. Currently only mplayer and the startup sounds that I have enabled work. Not even the test button in sound settings works properly. In an attempt to fix this problem I've switched all of the sound settings back to ALSA but the problem persists.
I've checked the relevent Wiki articles and the forums for hints on how to solve these problems but I've had no luck so far as the relevent info does not seem to be there or the solutions don't seem to correct my situation. Any help would be much appreciated.

I'd like to report success in getting my samba shares working properly. The cause was a module that was set to load in the background in rc.conf, changing it to normal mode solved the issue. Also, the problem with Gnome-display-manager seems to have disappeared. However I still have not had any luck with Compiz Fusion, and my Vmware virtual machine.
I have made progress with my sound drivers, it seems that my system is trying to use ALSA when I've set the system to use Pulseaudio. I have not had any luck no matter what I change in the sound settings.

  • OS X Lion DMG and Java Issues

I have a serious issue with my Lion installation.  In the process of upgrading from Snow Leopard through 10.7 to 10.7.1 to 10.7.2 somewhere in there, Java got badly broken.  I tried re-downloading Java for Lion and reinstalling but it gives me an idiot message that my OS version is not compatible.  ***?
So I open the package with Pacifist and do an install to default location from the top of the package and all the Java stuff works again.  But then within about three days I can no longer open DMG files.  I double click them and nothing happens.  Disk utility won't launch.  If I reinstall the 10.7. combo update, Disk Utility works and DMG files open but if I try to connect to a streaming Java service such as used by Go To Webinar, I never get anywhere.  So I am at the point where I can either work with DMG files OR I can use Go To Webinar but not both.
This is idiotic to me, but I cannot even begin to figure out why Java gets broken by applying an update and why my ability to work with DMG files keeps going away and if the two are actually related or there is just some weird timing juxtaposition.
Anyone who has seen this problem and figured out a solution, please wade in.
    Thanks!
    Ross

Well, the issue doesn't seem to be in your User since the Combo Update doesn't touch anything in your User Account. This being the case and assuming you have a backup of your account on another disk, I'd do a clean install of Lion. Then in Setup Assistant migrate over all your stuff.

  • Printable PDF and few other issues

    Hello,
I am using BIEE 11g and experiencing few issues and looking for advices for issues below :
    1. Printable PDF format
    - When i download dashboard and answer to printable PDF, the PDF's format doesnt seem following the format of dashboard. It maintains overall format, but it becomes uneven. And gap between sections and columns of dashboard are quite different with it of dashboard on the screen.
    - Image included inside columns of table for conditions, It looks fine on the dashboard and answer, but it gets misplaced if i download them in PDF or PPT. Sometimes the images are outside the table. However, it works fine with Excel.
    2. Mobile Device Management
    - For addition of new mobile device, I go to Administration => Manage Device Types. When i try to create a new device, it gives me error message saying "This Device Type cannot be deleted/updated as it is a pre-configured system device". Is there anyway i can add new devices?
    3. MS Word. Direct download impossible for dashboard and answer
    - This one is simple. Is it possible to download answer or dashboard directly as MS Word format. I heard that security of MS Office blocks users for direct download.
    Thanks in advance.
