Re: Paying for blast speed - getting only 30 Mbps

Thanks Lewis I will give it a shot And I will continue to focus on this until its resolved....In my entire life (over 40 years) i have only complained to one other company, I am usually the type who will just walk away to never come back. This, however, feels like being robbed monthly and since I am not made of money (quite far from it) it has stepped up to a whole new level of personal. But look on the bright side, Tech number 8? 9? will be here friday!lol

After all that went on, comcast was still only able to get my "105" speeds up to around 37mbs...I asked for a credit back from the year I paid for that service, and was denied. So I decided to step down to the "25" internet speed. Customer retention gave me a "deal" for a year (which I assume will slowly crawl back up over 100 dollars a month). They also told me there was a charge for some "install package" that had to be shipped. I told the man that if I was charged for that, I would cancel comcast entirely, so that was waved (YAY)After about a week since downgrading, my internet speeds are pulling about 57mbs pretty constantly, what magic occured to fix a problem that could not be figured out before I could not tell you, but it just makes me think that the entire company is a joke. I have started a nice letter to comcast as I am still pretty upset over being ripped off for a year.....but what does one customer (of 17 years) really matter to them anyway.I suggest that everyone who pays for this high speed internet to really check what they are actually getting out of it, and also have your friends check as well.....Another company to big for its own good, and pretty much a monopoly in certain markets.Bravo Comcast.....BravoI will say something here, I too have been on the Comcast internet since at least the Kuwait war which was when?  So call me a long time user.  Right now I am on the Blast 50 (down) 10 (up) plan & I on average get 55-62 down & 10-12 up but this is on my laptop with the intel [email protected] Ghz. with turbo mode of 3.3.  if I use my 13 year old HP desktop @ 2.53 Ghz. I am lucky if I get 13 Mbps. down & 6 Mbps up. I feel it is because the HP is loaded with tons of software that is slowing it all down. So how old is your computer?

Sorry, I´m a little bit angry about my problem! For two days I bought JOIKUSPOT PREMIUM WiFi HotSpot on Ovi Store over my Nokia N97 (Mietzekatze). I payed it with my Mobilcard. Buyingnumber: 265535972619. But in my (Eigene) Own I can´t find any JOIKUSPOT PREMIUM WiFi HotSpot. I find there only the JOIKUSPOT Free Version, but that is gratis! So I payed 9.99 Euros for nothing. :-(.
So can anyone help me to get the Payversion of Joikuspot?

  • Blast speed is currently 2 Mbps/9 Mbps on the Comcast Speed Test. Help please!

I've had the Blast service for quite some time, and have noticed painfully slow internet browsing for the last couple of months. I mean...pull-my-hair-out-slow.  I just did a Comcast speed test and the results were 2.31 Mpbs and 9.01 Mpbs. Um....that would explain things. But not really... as I'd love to see the speeds I'm supposed to have. Even double digits would be nice! I'm trying to run ShaperProbe but I get the error "Servers are busy. Try again later." I've tried a few times. I'll post the results if I can get the scan to work. Power level is 45-46 dBmV and SNR 35-37 Modem: ARRIS Motorola SurfBoard SB6141 DOCSIS 3.0Logs of June 2015 (the most recent, and the logs before that are January): Jun 22 2015 07:07:243-CriticalT05.0SYNC Timing Synchronization failure - Loss of Sync;CM-MAC=b8:16:19:fa:b8:0c;CMTS-MAC=00:1d:70:af:fd:a0;CM-QOS=1.1;CM-VER=3.0;Jun 18 2015 08:04:503-CriticalR02.0No Ranging Response received - T3 time-out;CM-MAC=b8:16:19:fa:b8:0c;CMTS-MAC=00:1d:70:af:fd:a0;CM-QOS=1.1;CM-VER=3.0;Jun 18 2015 07:08:273-CriticalT05.0SYNC Timing Synchronization failure - Loss of Sync;CM-MAC=b8:16:19:fa:b8:0c;CMTS-MAC=00:1d:70:af:fd:a0;CM-QOS=1.1;CM-VER=3.0;Jun 17 2015 23:08:553-CriticalR02.0No Ranging Response received - T3 time-out;CM-MAC=b8:16:19:fa:b8:0c;CMTS-MAC=00:1d:70:af:fd:a0;CM-QOS=1.1;CM-VER=3.0;Jun 16 2015 02:43:065-WarningZ00.0MIMO Event MIMO: Stored MIMO=-1 post cfg file MIMO=-1;CM-MAC=b8:16:19:fa:b8:0c;CMTS-MAC=00:1d:70:af:fd:a0;CM-QOS=1.1;CM-VER=3.0; I would sure appreciate any ideas. ShaperProbe has not been usable for some time, unfortunately. Check to see if Comcast is reporting an outage for your area by logging in to https://customer.xfinity.com/Secure/MyServices/ or by checking the voice response system at 1-800-Comcast.
If no outage is reported, see Connection Troubleshooting Tips. If you want to troubleshoot this yourself and still need help, please provide Information Requested for Connection-Related Posts.
If you are using Wifi it's best to switch to an Ethernet connection if possible while measuring speed and checking the reliability of your connection to Comcast.
If you'd rather have them do the troubleshooting call them at the phone number on your bill or 1-800-Comcast and have them send a tech out to identify the cause and correct it.
If the tech finds bad coax, splitters, amplifiers, or connections in your home (even if Comcast originally supplied them) you'll probably have to pay for the visit unless you have their Service Protection Plan (http://www.xfinity.com/spp/, about $5/mo). If the trouble is due to a faulty Comcast modem, eMTA, gateway device, or anything outside your home, you shouldn't be charged.

  • Paying for 10Mbps but getting less than 5Mbps since October

My last post was about a constant disconnection issue which has kind of been fixed, meaning that it probably happens once or twice a day night and mostly during night time after 8PM PST. Tiny bit of progress, but not entirely remedied.
That started back in Octorber, took a month and a lot of effort on my end trying to get Verizon's attention for that to be checked out, yet it's not 100% fixed. But since then my speeds have dropped below 5Mbps down, 540Kbps up. I used to be getting 9.3Mbps/860Kbps, from 2007 to 2009, two flawless years before the speeds began to gradually decrease in 2010, approximately 1~2% every 6 months or so, until the speeds became stuck at 7.3Mbps/728Kbps. Every Verizon agent I spoke to told me that my line is only good for up to 7.1Mbps so I'm actually getting more than I should. Do you even know how ridiculous that sounds? I'm only 1.7mile away from the Verizon station, and that does not lower my speeds that much. So why should I pay $60 for a 10Mbps enhanced package that gets me nowhere near 10Mbps? And how did I have speeds close to the advertised specs in the first place?
Here's what I think. ASSIA Optimizer is just a sugar-coated name for "Bandwidth Throttling". It detects and measures the bandwidth usage of each line and if the load is higher than the pre-determined parameters it throttles the bandwidth and lowers the speeds, and Verizon has made sure that it's extremely difficult for any user to get some real support, and their employees have been told to avoid acknowledging the existence of "ASSIA Optimizer" as well as "Speed Profiles". Yea, Verizon agents told me that these things do not exist.
I've lost count of how many tickets I've had all of which did absolutely nothing, but my speeds just keep getting worse with each call I make to Verizon support. As of now I am getting 2.06Mbps/460Kbps. And I've been paying $60 a month why??
If you have a choice in your area, steer clear of Verizon, because you will never get any real support.

  • Do I need to pay for ANYTHING to get itunes 10?

I am running 9.2.1 version of itunes, and version 10.4.11 of os x. In order to install the new itunes 10, (which I downloaded of the apple site, as my computer says Im running the current software) my computer says I need to be running 10.5 os x.... But, as I understand it, this is only possible if you bought a recently made computer, or bought the new leopard thing.
I dont know much about computers.......

You need to purchase a newer Mac OS X version to get iTunes 10. Verify that your computer meets the system requirements first.

  • Are there options left for restarting after getting only gray screen?

I have an iBook G3 Dual USB with 12.5 inch screen, using 10.3.9 - after freezing up and forced shutdown I only get a gray screen on start up. It won't start in Safe Mode, it won't start using fsck. If I start from install disk I get the gray screen with the apple and the spinning gear - forever! If I start and press the option key I get the blue screen with the two arrows but no disks show, and the little watch just keeps spinning. Is my hard disk fried? Is there nothing else to try except the repair shop? Can I connect by Graphite Firewire via ethernet and try accessing it's disk utility? I only have 9.2.2 on it. Thanks.

I went through a similar situation after installing the recent 2007-004 security update. Check out the long and growing problems report thread under "Panther Security Update 2007-004". If you just did this update, it may be the source of your problems. In spite of all of the other suggestions, reinstalling (using archive and install, maintain system settings), then doing all but the 004 update, did the trick.

  • Paying for 24mb connection but only receiving 6.7mb

Hi, I upgraded by phone to 24mb package a few months ago and i'm still not receiving anythin higher than 6.7mb. This is a business account. Can somebody check my account? Thank you Will

    Hi Willoo
I have contacted our business support team today who have confirmed that the package you are subscribed to only offers speeds of up to 12Mb.
Your speeds are currently set at up to 8Mb - the term 'up to' is advised as there are a number of this which can affect speed and due to your lines distance from the exchange the max download speed it can safely hand is up to 8Mb.
I can also confirm that there has been no upgrades or changes in your package since 24/7/2014
    Thanks

  • What does it take to get the service I pay for?

In the past 2 1/2 months or so, my DSL service has been about as reliable as a politician's promise, in other words, not at all. When I first called, I must have gotten lucky, because I actually talked to someone who spoke understandable English, and who, after I told him that I was not a computer novice, gave up on the "reboot your computer and reboot the modem" garbage (I had done all the basic troubleshooting tests prior to calling) He also tried to tell me that the problem was in my home wiring, but when informed that the problem existed with a direct connection to the network interface, dropped that attempt.. He determined that the problem was my modem, and after I refused to place an order for one through Verizon, finally decided to send me a new one at no cost. I also was promised a credit on my bill for the time I had no service. After several days, a package arrived, and it contained a modem / wireless router combo. I installed it, did the set ups, and had some strange results on the network status page including it telling me that the broadband was connected and the internet was continually attempting to connect. I was able to access the internet, but knowing that this is was not right, called tech support again. This time I reached the proverblal "Peggy" who I could not understand. After asking him to repeat himself many times, and then asking if there was someone who actually spoke understandable Engilsh (and his refusal to connect me to anyone else)  I finally gave up. I had to leave town on business for a few days, and while I was away, my wife called to tell me I had a package delivered. It turns out that this was a second modem/ router with a note (demand) that I return the first one within a short period of time, or be charged some outlandish fee. I installed the second replacement, including changing the wiring and power supply, and set the wireless up again.  It seemed to work better, than the first one. I am still having quite a few problems. The internet will drop out  with no rhyme or reason, sometimes it will show the broadband connected and the internet not, sometimes (and this is really bad) is shows that the internet is connected but the broadband is disconnected. Seeing as the broadband is needed for an internet connection, this really makes no sense. When the internet cuts out, I often have to unplug the connection from the modem, plug it into the phone (phone line is not normally hooked up) make a call of some kind, even to my own number) and then plug the cable back into the modem. I usually will get internet back then, sometimes for thirty seconds, sometimes for several hours. On my last call for support, I was told by a so called supervisor that if they were to send someone out to check things, they would be converting me to FIOS (something I do not want to do for many reasons, including the attiude and trespassing of a FIOS installer trying to run cables across my yard where there is no easement, rather than running them in the easement which was further. The bill credits I was promised?  They are like Verizon reliablity, they are missing. Is there any reason I should not change to another carrier after being with Verizon for over 20 years?

I just spent 2 hours on a chat with them... Turns out... He says I have High Speed Internet, I say I have High Speed Internet Enhanced He tells me I should be happy with my speed test, I tell him I should be receiving what I am paying for and it is beneath the 3.1 Mbps to 7.0 Mbps I am paying for. He says the repair service cannot see my account stuff only billing. I insist I am paying for High Speed Enhanced. 2 hours in I am told that Repair is arguing with Billing over what service I have. I tell him Billing will win. He finally calls me direct, and am told to close the chat. I am told I am correct all along and will receive credit to my account for them not giving me the proper speed for years of service I paid for and did not receive. -------- I could not understand half of what he was saying to me. He says he will not e-mail me any information. I have no clue his name because try as I might I could not understand him. He says it will resolve in a few days and they will contact me.  This is service? I should now take the word of a company that has underserved me for years, from a guy on the other side of the world who cannot be understood and who is unitelligible over the phone, that won't send me any of the information via e-mail and had me intentionally close the chat session that they will properly resolve this issue.

  • Paying for 35/35 speed BUT????

I recently upgraded and started paying for the service which is 35/35 (I think).  My question is that since I upgraded but Verizon didn't offer a wireless N router, are the speeds really working, or should I have asked for a different router?  I have an Actiontec.
Another problem I'm having and a reason I was thinking of upgrading to wireless N is because I have some interference in my house and 2 xbox's that are in other rooms have very weak signals.  Since they are having this problem I thought about paying for some ethernet cable and hard wiring both.  The problem with that is the wire costs about the same as a wireless N router.
So what I'm looking to do is either find out if wirelss N would possible help with signal strength for 2 of my xbox's?  Should I buy a booster for the verizon router I have instead of hard wiring?  I know hard wire is the way to go to get good speeds but money is a factor here.  Of course the other thing is since I'm paying for faster speeds should I upgrade to wireless N?  Also did I make a mistake and pay for faster service when I (or verizon) didn't upgrade my router?
Thanks in advance for any help.

run speedtests....  what are the numbers?
http://speedtest.verizon.net  (uses java, pick your state)
http://speakeasy.net/speedtest (uses flash, 8 cities to choose from)
If Win Vista or WIn 7, open IE in admin mode when running the VZ speedtest..  after the test runs, it has a link to the Optimizer (that requires admin mode)...

  • Why should we pay for software updates

i know that nokia has turned to providing software updates on the internet. But based on my experience if someone has to update their firmware and is not under warranty they hav to pay for the update !
wait a second, i payed(read : invested) in a nokia phone and it dint even work properly for one straight day & to sort this problem(which started by me doing nothign but buying a nokia phone) i have to PAY for an update!
this means i as an investor am wrong? i should not buy nokia phones?
    YES
because as a corporate business nokia doesnt have the decency to correct their own mistakes.
    This is unethical business practice.
PS: i bought N73 from dubai and am in uk as of now, so cannot use the warranty to get a free update- but cmon its not my mistake that the software has bugs, nokia should take its responsibility.
    i regret buying a nokia

Nokia do sell phones all over the world, this is correct. But one thing you miss here is that they do not sell the same phones all over the world.
Phones sold in the US are for the US market, so this could mean they are CDMA in design, use such technology as BREW etc. Phones sold in the middle east and in APAC will also cater to the needs of this area, such as chtml and imode as well as different menu structures and character sets in the phones font.
Creating a support network that can repair a damaged phone or updgrade a faulty phone anywhere in the world would be a bad thing. For one thing, the cost. If such a service existed this would be passed on to the end user, this would mean customers in the US who never leave their country would be paying for the support services (even if never used) for a customer in China who regularly travels to Austrlia and may need a firmware update or repair done anywhere in between.
The only thing Nokia really needs to address is hardware repairs. It would not be beyond the realms of reasonable to have a hardware repair service at premium for imported phones (people travelling could wait until they arrive home or mail back to their country). However the update system that Nokia now has in place on the Internet and OTA simply means you do not need to go into a shop to update your phone. You either connect to your pc or just start the update from the phone itself.
One final note, no one pays for the update, you only pay for the service. This is why OTA updates are free (apart from the data charges) and so are Internet updates (apart for the monthly charge etc) Message Edited by karym6 on 15-Dec-2006

  • Already paid for lightroom, but get it again in CC

So, the CC for Photographers package includes lightroom, but I have already paid for and currently use LR 5. It seems that paying for CC and getting something I've already paid for is a bit of a ripoff, correct? Is there a discounted option for those of us who already have half of the package? I see one for those who purchased CS previously, but no for those who purchased LR.

Clearly you didn't fully read my question. Yes I saw the options, and there is an option for the full boat CC but not one for photographers. On top of this, its for customers who purchased CS3 or later...so even if it were less money then the full price CC for photographers, I still wouldn't be eligible because I'm asking about LR.
    So I'll ask again.
Is there a discounted option for CC for photographers available for those who have already paid full price for LR?

  • Getting 1/2 the speed I'm paying for & in too much pain to be on phone for hours--HELP

My children do a Cyber school and have been getting disconnected from class for months now.  I'm also having losing the internet at random times on my desktop. A friend told me how to check my speed (since I know so little about computers) and I found out I'm only getting 1/2 the speeds I'm paying for!!!!  I've called Verizon customer service in WHATEVER COUNTRY 6 times now but I have to hang up after any longer than 35 minutes because of chronic pain!  Tech makes me turn off my router, check my speed, (when I know they can see the speed right in front of them, after 1 rep told me the speed without my asking) and computer share.   Nothing gets resolved, I NEVER GET THE CALL FROM A SUPERVISOR THAT WAS PROMISED, and Verizon closes out the problem after 72 hours!!  Seems  like EVERYONE ELSE HERE GETS THE SAME RUNAROUND AND LACK OF RESPECT!!  One billing person offered me a refund for the difference in speed for only 1 month and offered me to upgrade!!  I can't afford to upgrade and the Cyber will work if I would only get the speed I had when 1 started with Verizon in 2002!  I said UNACCEPTABLE and am having to call back once a week (because that's all I can handle)  to try to get a Supervisor!  Can anyone tell me how to get help without the exhaustion of being on the phone forever?!

Thank you for replying and sorry it took so long to respond.  Now I can't get into my Verizon email so I didn't know I had a response on this site. I was also physically unable to sit at my computer.  Here is the info you requested:
