Re:Profit center re-organisation

Hi All,
My client wants to change the whole profit centers and its hierarchy. Now we are maitaining product wise profit centers in 4.7c and getting upgraded to ECC 6.0.
In this course we need to change the locations as profit centers. How can we achive this ?
Are there any additional things related profit center in ECC 6.0 over 4.7C ?

    There is no standard report to see both the sale order reference and profit center.  However, if you go to SE16 and use table VBAP, you can see the required details

  • Secondary Cost Element Values doesn't display in Profit Center Report

    Hi everyone,
    I'm having a problem with our Profit Center plan/actual/variance reports wherein it doesn't display the postings I made to the Secondary cost element when I executed an assessment cycle (KSU5). I already set in the configuration that all postings to be done in the cost centers, should have a parallel posting to the profit center assigned to it. I can see the postings in my cost center reports, but not in my profit center report. Could I have missed out on any procedure to enable the secondary cost element parallel posting in my profit centers? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

    it might be the configuration of the library or some parameter in the report (record type should be 0 and 2 for actual values, where 2 stands for distributed values and 1 and 3 for planned values)
    but it also might be that the reconciliation is done between different CC and same PC
    - check your CC organisation asignment
    - if sender cost center and receiver cost center have tha same PC it is probably the reason
    - I had that problem my self and didn't solve it

    Business area will have many profit centers. For example Vehicle is a business area in a company. Vehicle can be cars and Bikes etc. Here Vehicle is business area and Cars and Bike are profit centers. In broad Vehicle is a profit center. But as it has sub areas those are profit centers. So profit centers cannot be replaced with business area and vice versa. We can replace business area by Profit centre, only condition is that it should be in same controlling area. The business area is more like a business unit of a company. You can have multiple profit centers within a business area.
    Main distinguish factor is that distribution and assessment in possible in profit center but not in business area.
    One more distinction is that Business area need not be attached to any organisation structure. But profit centres can be created only under the controlling area. Business area can be across controlling area.
    Business area concept is used for making stragic decisions by the management whereas the primary purpose of profit centre accounting is responsibility accounting.

  • Error message related to profit center and CO account assignment

    Hi Experts,
    The user is trying to post a return order in VA01 as per a compliant. While entering the material number and quantity in the system it was throwing a message like "No posting can be made to profit center xxxxxx in company code xxxx. When I checked the particular profit center it was not activated in the particular company code xxxx. I have activated that and the asked the user to test. Now he is getting an error like "The CO account assignment object belongs to company YYYY  not xxxx.

    I have replicate this issue in quality system and found that user is using inputs of two different organisational units for this process. It is purely an error from user side, hence I am closing this thread. Thank you for your inputs.

    I am unable to understand the functionality of Profit center and cost center, I know that cost center represents area within an organization for which you will like to see the expenses for a particular time period. for example in an organisation we have three cos centers Accounts, HR and Admin. whenever you post an accounting document in FI you will specify the cost center to which the expense relates. but in some cases when you post an expense and give the relative cost center the profit center is also driven by the system. why is this behavior? i mean i have posted an expense not an income then why is system driving the profit center as well?
    Profit centers are used if you want to see the profit of different area of your organisation. in what kind of postings we use profit center? and if we could use profit center to draw income and loss for a specific area why do we need segment reporting? and what is the difference between Segment and Business area. what i understood from their definition is that they are both same and use for same purpose.
    I am totally lost in these concepts. please some one help me out with an example. i am stuck at this point. some one please clarify my concept of Profit Center, Cost Center, Segments and business area please.

    Cost center & Profit Center are organizational units   within the enterprise structure , created for better internal control.
    As the name suggests Cost Center  is  the lowest level  of the organizational unit representing a defined location of cost incurrence or otherwise to which you can meaningfully assign the cost(both direct & Indirect).
    Profit Center is an organizational unit  in accounting  ,where management would require to see the profitability & fix the responsibility. It may be each plant/division of the company .
    If you consider the Plant is the Profit center, you can take the various deptts in the Plant as cost centers. you can draw a balance sheet & profit & loss account statement at profit center level but this will be for your internal use.From this you can know the ROI on particular area. Profit centers are assigned inside the cost center so when you update cost center, profit centers are updated automatically.
    Where as Segments are used for legal reporting of your accounting standard as per IFRS. Both Business Area & Segments are more or less same with some technical difference.
    Business area  is a free organizational unit. It can be derived through cost center or can be entered manually.
    But segment is a dependent organizational unit. It is defined & attached inside the  profit center master data. It can’t be entered manually.
    SAP suggest to use the Segment concept.

    It depends on the organisation structure you decide on and as such PCA is recomended for your requirement.
    Cosider each plant as a Profit center and decide cost centers under each plant/profict centers.
    For all the materials under each plant assign the prfict center or that pant.
    Change the feild status groups for Profit centers as mandatory.
    If you are in 4.7EE You need to write derivaton rules & Assign dummy profit center for scenarios that overlap or for sales made by one plant of the stocks of other plant.
    Need to identify the Asset costcenter/Plant/location wise adn need to assign in ACSET.
    You need to rum F.5D , F.5E as period end process.
    Down payments need to be handled by way if user exits if you are in 4.7EE
    If you are in >= ECC5.0 then simply activating the document split will give you the PCA wise balances without much month end closing activities.
    Make Zero Balance and Profit centers as mandatory in document splitting charactersics.
    In any case you need to completely test the scenarios and how you are goinbg to get th eprofit center in all the scenarios.

    What is the significance of assignment of profit center in cost center ?  System does not allow me to post activity prices in KP26 without assignment of profit center to cost center. It gives error that
    "Profit center 1000/DUMMY_PCA does not exist for 01.04.2009"
    How to solve this error with out assignment of profit center in cost center?

    Profit Center is an Organizational unit in Accounting that reflects a management-oriented structure of the organization for the purpose of internal control.
    Hence its Assignemnt with Cost center should be there for proper assessment of Organisation.
    If  you do not assign a profit center, the SAP System transfers the data from the dummy profit center defined in configuration for the respective controlling area to Profit Center Accounting.
    Therefor proper cost center with Proft center assgined has to be used for Cost center / actvity type planning in KP26.

        I have on organisation where only one business center is there but it has 4 plant
        producing deferent product and product groups for that i want to define profit  
        center, so my puestion is that how many profit centers I have to creat to find
        out the profit of each plant.

    My client has been asked to us,profit center as a reuired feild at the transaction stages.
    For this we made profit center as required feild at the feild status grioup level.
    After this one of my sd consulatant trying to post accounting document. but systom is displayed the followoing error.
    I,E, Field Profit Ctr is a required field for G/L account 1000 202016.
    202016 is the tax g/l account.
    Please give solutions on this.

    or in our organisation also the same requirement i create one substitution for that if business area is this one substitute the same with business area because business area and profit center is same.
    if both are not same u can do the same with constant.

  • Profit center update for Balance sheet GL A/C

    I am working on ECC 6.0 version. And document splitting is active. When we do GR in the line item level profit cent is updated but the profit center document is not posted. The profit center is picking from my Material master.
    May i know what configuration is required to update profit center for B/S Items.

                Regarding to balance sheet accounts (Stock account and WIP), profit center will be updated automatically from the material master. Profit center document will be generated whenever GR happened.I think already configuration has been done ur organisation for PCA. once again you check all the configuration settings in T.code 1KE1 and no ranges in GB02.

  • VA01 screen Profit center

    Dear Gurus,
    In VA01 screen after entering customer and material, SAP brings profit center automatically. But I want system to bring another profit center. I have changed profit center in material master. But the conclution is the same. It brings old profit center....
    But if I change sales office profit center changes automatically..
    What must I do to bring correct profit center in VA01 screen?

    Profit center is derrived form Plant Material view so whatever profit center is assigned to material master in Material sales Plant Data that must come to sales order. Now please check wheather you have extended the material with relevant sales organisation/Plant or not.

  • GR/IR account not shown in profit center report

    Dear all
    I have created GR/IR accont, when there is transaction use these account the profit center is appear, but why when i run profit center line item report there is no posting from GR/IR and in S_ALR_87009722 report .there is no posting from GR/IR  new Account but the old account is appear?
    in old GR/IR account i dont thick the open item management, but ini new account i have thick open item management.

    Your question is not clear...
    1. Did you assign new GR/IR account in OBYC - WRX?
    2. Which PCA you use . New GL PCA or Classical PCA?
    3. If you use Classical PCA, then GR/IR line item wont appear in PCA reports.. You need to run T codes 1KE* at period end
