Re: Undelivered Package claimed to be delivered

Dear mackram -
I too, have the same issue!!!
I placed an order over $100 and it claimed to have been delivered, but it hasnt.
This is VERY VERY upsetting, and now I have to chase Best Buy down for either my delivery or a refund.
This is not very good business, and I am quite annoyed.
Can you help???

Hi tatebatel,
That's no good! I'd be upset too if an item I ordered was listed as delivered by the carrier, but I had not received it.
I've sent you some information, so please make sure to check your private messages when you can. To check your PMs, simply sign into the forum and then click on the letter icon in the upper right-hand corner.

  • UPS problems! Two packages returned and one delivered!? If rebought with GCU will I be banned?

Okay I placed two separate game orders a bit over 2 weeks ago.
First order was split into 2 separate shipments (3 games total) with separate UPS tracking info despite having the same shipping address.  Apparently there were issues with delivery, and ONE of the shipments have been returned (this has been refunded).  The second shipment (which had 2 of the games) seems to have been delivered and signed for!  I have no idea what to do!
Second order was just one game, NBA 2K15 (preorder).  It appears it was returned so I will likely be getting refund for it.  The only issue is I "lost" (or will just never receive) the $10 certificate and preorder dlc in the event I reorder.
Now I guess I can attempt to reorder, but the first order the games were all on sale which has since ended.  Additionally I'm worried about the GCU limit as I had hit the limit.
Going away from this, this is NOT the first time I had issues with orders from Best Buy via UPS to this address.  The address is a USPS Post Office locker (GOPOST).  I follow the instructions that USPS provides and how to format the address, but it seems that the label Best Buy issues via UPS does not go well with UPS.  I have successfully received packages sent to GOPOST via UPS from other retailers however.

    Hello k41,
No need to worry! Returned and reshipped items do not count against the 3-copy limit for Gamers' Club Unlocked members. Orders may also be split into separate shipments if individual items are being shipped at different times or from different fulfillment centers.
As far as the missing package is concerned, the first step in these situations is to initiate a package trace with the carrier. This process can take 7-10 business days, but once the investigation is complete, additional actions like reshipping that portion of the order can be pursued.
I've sent you some information regarding both your orders, so please make sure to check your private messages when you can.

  • Package lost in delivery

I placed an order two weeks ago that shipped right away via UPS Surepost, where the "Sure" stands for "Sure to never arrive".  UPS, as usual, performed their portion of the shipment correctly (or so I assume) as their website shows the package was handed off to the USPS on August 27th.  USPS on the other hand, is showing the shipment as a pre-shipment, after a week and a half.  I guess the up side is that at least they're not claiming that they delivered the package?
This is not a case of the package being delivered and subsequently stolen or lost as it's being routed to a locked mailbox inside a locked mailroom inside a (you guessed it) locked office building.  I've asked UPS and USPS to both look into the delivery and they both said to contact Best Buy because neither of them can do anything.
So I sent an email to Customer service, but got an awesome form letter saying that they need additional information (presumably from me?) and that they are looking forward to hearing from me soon...but never actually asked me for any information at all, nor provided me with any relevant information other than an assurance that they understand that I'd like to know what happened to my package, that Best Buy collaborates with the best shipping carriers in the market, and that delivery delays are not Best Buy's fault.  The email spent more time disavowing any responsibility for delivery delays than it did actually addressing the problem at hand.
    /disappointed

    Hello Lop,
Online orders are meant to be easy and convenient.  At the moment, it sounds like that may not be the case for you.  I want to apologize for the inconvenienced this has caused you and I am embarrassed that you received such a poorly written email.
After reviewing your order that I obtained with the email address you used to register onto the forum, I was able to find out that the previous representative who emailed you, reached out to USPS and provided them with your contact information so that USPS can call you with an update on your order. If you do not receive any update regarding your order by Friday, please feel free to reach out to me.
    Thank you for posting!

  • Experience: When your package goes missing

Recently, I had ordered a new desktop PC for my dad since it was on sale and still had a gift card worth around $80. So the order was plain and simple, order package, wait for confirmation, wait for shipment, recieve package, and then party when you open the package and feel accomplished with your purchase. HOWEVER, for me it was a bit different. I took a day off of work to ensure the package reaches my house on 6/9/15. I had a little station going on my lawn, i had my lawn chair and laptop and was prepared to sit and wait all day hoping they (UPS) would be there to save me from impending boredom. I started from 9 am in the morning to all the way at 9 pm in the evening. During the day i periodically checked the tracking information and well it said it was delivered right to my front door. The only problem is... I was blocking the front door with my lawn chair all day long so it was impossible for anyone to leave a package there or anyone taking the package without me knowing since i was sitting right there.
So i went online and came straight to the forums (HORRAAAAY I DIDNT KNOW THEY HAD A FORUM!). I've noticed people have gotten their package missing too so i started to read some posts before i began to panic and feel the world was going to end... well not really i was just upset that my package didnt come. So i proceeded to write an email about what happened and with my whole situation and all. This was probably around 12 am that night. I went to bed and the next morning the phone began to ring. The caller id said it was Best Buy. I am amazed that my email was read and they had gotten back to me within 9 hours. Now thats some GREAT customer service right there! I explained what happened and the kind lady gave me 2 options either to refund or reship. A refund would be nice however, i have a bad habit of shreding giftcards after they are used so getting the funds back on there would be a nightmare. So my only option was to have it reshipped. She told me it would come on Friday. So immediately i called my boss and asked for Friday off so i can wait for my package. My boss said it was okay since work wasnt really busy anyways (wheeewwwww). Later that day UPS called to verify me if i had recieved the package and made sure ive looked everywhere. I told UPS that ive waited outside all day and i havent seen a truck at all. I mean if i hadnt recieved the package i wouldnt have made a lost package claim in the first place...UPS then proceeded to tell me to contact Best Buy for a new one.
So Friday came and as i was proceeding to set up my lawn chair again a UPS truck had came, but it was on the otherside of the street delivering a package to one of my neighbors. I immediately ran to the guy and asked him did he have a package for me. He looked at his PDA and he said yes. I wanted to shed tears of happiness but didnt since it would be tooooo awkward for the guy delivering a package to a grown man in tears..... I signed for it and oh my.... this package was HUGE. What amazes me is that how does someone not notice a package like this disappearing into thin air i mean its BIG! I thanked the guy and he proceeded off into the distance.
My overall experience: I am extremely satisfied with Best Buys customer service and their site. From the time ordering to the helpfulness of the forums and finally to the swift help i recieved when i sent that email. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping me because some of the places online places i order from does not respond until a week later and they blew me away by calling me 9 hours later after my initial email. I am extremely happy since i bought a really good desktop for about $102 out of my own pocket (after the giftcard and sale) and now have the product in my hands!
For those reading this like I did, i would want to say be persistent in finding your package. When it shows up as delivered and isnt physically at your house, just walk around the neighborhood asking people if they have seen it or have seen a UPS truck. Then proceed to contacting the seller to help you since they have more power than the buyer to talk to the shipping people orelse the shipping people will just tell you to contact the seller (even though they are the ones who are supposed to be delivering to your house and not the seller).
For Best Buy Social team: I would like to really thank you because on other people's messages you told them the steps on what to take and how to get their problem fixed, if it wasnt for that id probably still be waiting for a package thatll never come.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hello there nartynot,
You are correct in stating that ordering from us should be a fairly simple process, and generally it is! It would be incredibly frustrating to literally be waiting outside for your package all day only for it to not arrive, but then have the tracking details show it had.
It’s fantastic that you were able to contact us immediately so that we were able to investigate the missing package, and file a claim with UPS as that would be the appropriate steps. I’m ecstatic that we were able to streamline the remaining portion of your experience after the hiccups you had! I hope that you and your dad are now enjoying the new desktop!
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. If you should need any other assistance, please let us know!
    Cheers,

  • UPS delivered my iPhone 6 but the box is empty!

My iPhone 6 was supposed to be delivered on 19/9, and it did, but the box was empty and my friend (who signed the package, and whom I trust) found that there was some signs it was tempered with.
I sent a Lost package claim to UPS, still trying to call apple. What else should I do? Is there any support email address from Apple that I can send my case to?
    Tks a lot.

The same thing happened to me today and I AM LIVID!! I am trying to figure out how any company can send a whole package with everything but the phone? I could maybe entertain a charger or headphones being missing, but the phone....seriously!! What kind of quality control do they have? Is someone not double-checking to determine if the boxes have all the materials that they are suppose to have....I mean when you have people paying $200-1000 for phones, you would think that the box would be checked to make sure that it actually contains the purchased materials...aren't the boxes checked for weight or something.. I called Apple and now I have to wait 48-72 hours for them to do an investigation, and then they will determine how long it will take to get me a new phone.....to be honest, a new phone should be shipped to me NOW while they conduct their investigation.....why should a customer have to wait because of their company's mistake? Apple's compliance department should really have a better system for dealing with incidents like this.......I'm trying to determine if I am more upset about this or the time I had to buy 3 computers to get one, and they told me they would retrieve the information from my computer and they didn't....in that case one rep told me that I just had to deal with their mistake and be an adult( I politely explained that I was a law student with finals the next week--that didn't matter to him) , the other tried to mitigate that situation and give me a external disk drive as a peace agreement when I called to cancel my order....some great gift. *sarcasm* However, i do appreciate her kindness.

  • Message could not be delivered to mobile.

Suddenly I'm unable to send a pic message to my phone via email. I've always been able to send pics that I've uploaded to my computer from my digital camera through my email program using [email protected]
Now when I sent one I get an error message via an mail from MMSC NDR Administrator ([email protected]) that says:

I can send a message from my email using [email protected] but not even a plain text email will go through using [email protected]
    Anyone else having this problem?
Any suggestion as to why this has started happening?
Thanks in advance for any info!

  • Reducing the signature of a delivered web service

    All,
Has anybody on here any experience with reducing the signature of a web service (input as well as output)?
What I am basically after is the opposite of a web service enhancement as it is detailed in the "Web Service Enhancement Guide". Similar to reducing the message type of an IDOC in ALE, I would like to take a standard web service and cut down the number of structures and fields to exactly what is required for my specific project, hence reducing transfer of unnecessary data.
Has anybody worked on something like this?
    Kind regards,
    Michael

I believe that today most people do this by creating wrapper services either in CE or ABAP around the SAP delivered service. However in NetWeaver 7.0 Enhancement Package 2, we will deliver new functionality to the ABAP development environment called Service Variants for doing exactly what you describe. It allows you to point to an existing service in the ESR and create a reduced interface on top of the existing service.  Here are a just a few screen shots:

  • Package Missing

I recently had placed an order for my beloved Season 4 of Game of Thrones on Blu-Ray. Delivery was 'achieved' on Saturday, February 14th, according to the USPS.
The order was originally maintained by UPS but was given to USPS for local delivery. I definitely do not have the package in my mailbox, which is where it was stated that the package was delivered. I've already sent an inquiry to the USPS about the package but I'm trying to see/figure out if there's something else I can/will have to do to be able to get this situation resolved in a timely manner.

    Hello haynick31,
Knowing the excitement and anticipation I have for the next glorious season of this show, I can imagine your desire to get back and watch through season four again! I’m sorry if your recent shipping snafu has delayed this viewing.
Using your email address you supplied us here on the forums I was able to look up your BestBuy.com order. I was able to confirm your package shows it was delivered on Saturday, February 14, 2015 per the tracking information. In situations like this you should be able to reach out to USPS to open an investigation. However, I may do this for you as well if you would prefer it.
I have sent you a private message to obtain some more information from you in order to do so. While logged into the forums, click on the envelope in the upper right-hand corner to check your private messages.

  • Unable to build any Xen AUR packages

    Hey guys,
I am frantically trying to get Xen working using the AUR Xen packages. On my PC I am having problems with the packages claiming that GCC is not capable of building binaries (checked the logs and seems like the configure script is trying to use options that do not exist in GCC4.9).
However, I am mainly trying to get these packages running on my old laptop which is running a fresh install of Arch 686. On the aur/xen package it fails on: `gzip: boot/xen-syms-*: No such file or directory`.
aur/xen-git gets stuck trying to apply a patch.
aur/xen-4.3-git fails in prepare. This is also failing to patch a file.
aur/xen-4.3 suffers with the same problem that aur/xen does with the gzip of boot/xen-syms-*: No such file or directory.
Does anyone have any clue how to get any of these packages to build or is able to fix them?
    Thanks,
    demon012

    demon012,
if the error log has a line like this
cc1: error: unrecognized command line option '-fstack-protector-strong'
    there's a better solution.
    Check https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=181328 & the aur gcc46-multilib pacakge.
(-fstack-protector-strong is a new option introduced in ggc 4.9 )

  • Stolen iPhone Package, how to report ESN?

    Hey everyone,
Long story short, my iPhone was stolen from my apartment "porch" in the hallway after placing multiple notes for UPS to leave it at the Resident Services office and I want to disable the ESN number so the person who took it can't use it. I cant seem to find it anywhere under My Verizon. Am I looking in the wrong spot? Can I even disable it since I don't even know what the ESN number is or does Verizon have it on record which ESN# the phone was they shipped me. I pre-ordered with Verizonwirelss.com FYI. Thanks for any help

    HK_USP wrote:
The package would have had a signature required authorization.  I'd just run the tracking # on UPS/FedEX's site and see if it says "delivered" and if so then call the carrier (UPS/FedEx) and tell them that they left a package without obtaining a signature as required.  It'd be well documented because if you sign for it, the signature is saved in their system.  They'd easily be able to see that no signature was obtained.  Sounds like the delivery driver's fault.
If the OP left notes stating that they wanted the package delivered without them having to be there (which they seem to indicate is what happened, although it was not left at the office where they asked) and the driver perceived the location to be safe then the package can be left (UNLESS there were strict instructions from the shipper that stated the package could not be delivered without someone being there in person to sign for it). It's why in some instances you are able to print out a form from the shipper website that you sign and leave stating that you accept the risks of having the package delivered without you being there. Some have stated that they were able to have their iPhones delivered in that manner. It's risky (as the OP's situation clearly shows), but assuming that is what happened and was allowed in this case it was a risk that the OP was willing to take. Now if the driver left it without any instruction to do so from the OP and they were required to obtain a physical signature then yes, the driver would be at fault for poor judgement. Ultimately, I think it's a bad idea to have any package of value left anywhere when the risk is that high, but that's just my personal opionion. I personally would try to see if I could pick it up at the shipping center after the initial delivery attempt was done (which I have done many times). Hopefully the OP gets lucky and the package come up or VZW allows them to purchase again at the discounted price as the OP stated they were told might be the case. Otherwise...it might end up being an expensive situation if the responsibility is placed on the OP and not the driver.

  • Re: Package lost in delivery

i lost my package too!! that's really a bad way on doing business with USPS.. they (usps) don't know anything about handling packages with care, since they don't care..  my package is a 3D DVD PLAYER.. is been over 10 days supposely USPS attempted my package on the 19th, i wrote a note to the letter carrier on the 27st, and today 31 don't know anything from them yet...so dissapointed too!

    Hello alfredovergara,
I certainly understand how having a package go astray during shipping can be mystifying at the very least and aggravating or worse the longer the problem persists. I'm very sorry that you've had to cope with this situation for as long as you have.
In looking into your situation, it appears that your package was at last delivered yesterday. I hope you enjoy your new Blu-ray player!
I'm very grateful that you shared your concerns with us.

  • Still haven't received a package

    Okay so here I go.
I ordered two things in one cart on 2/26/15 and they both were shipped out the very next day, 2/27/15. I got one of the items just fine, it didn't take too long or anything, but now my problem is the other package. It was suppose to be delivered to me by 3/4/15. I saw the alert that there were some weather problems so I was prepared to maybe wait a little longer. Now yesterday 3/10/15 the tracker said it was finally on its way to me. I waited all day and it never came, but instead I got my neighbor's package. I later saw that my package could not be delivered because it was the wrong street number, which didn't make any sense because the other item I ordered came to me just fine.
Now I've got this message on my tracker " The street number is incorrect. This may delay delivery. We're attempting to update the address / We've contacted the receiver to request additional information. "
My phone broke so I can't call in about this, but I just wanted to know how much longer would this take? And if you guys ever received any kind of update request? I don't want it to end up being sent back because it was on sale and now I'm all worried about the condition it may be in and etc etc... By the way, it's the camera I'm still waiting for.
    Order number {removed per forum guidelines}

    Hello wilcin19,
Our carriers work very hard to get people their packages on time, but sometimes this isn’t always possible. I am sorry to hear your one of the items from your order has been delayed due to some weather issues. I would be happy to look into this a bit more for you.
In this situation, you can always reach out to the carrier fulfilling your order to open an investigation for your missing item. When you reach out to us, this is typically the same course of action we will take as well. Using the information you supplied us with, I was able to pull up your purchase history. It appears one of our support representatives has already contacted the United States Postal Service (USPS) on your behalf and provided you with the next steps.
If you have any other questions or concerns, I would recommend you continue working with the aforementioned representative as they have already been assisting you with this. However, I am here for you as well.
    We appreciate your business,

  • T500 Problems and experiences with Lenovo's technical support / EZServ

After some issues and numerous calls to Lenovo's Technical Support, I just thought I would share my experiences here.
First off, I currently own a ThinkPad T500, which was designed to be a replacement for my older ASUS laptop.
While the ASUS laptop is still running okay, I have had a hard time trying to get the company to properly warranty the laptop. (they would make falsified claims that nothing is wrong with the laptop, so that they would not have to replace any parts - and when they do replace parts, they would simply create another problem and totally ignore the described problem.) The experiences were so stressful and disgusting such that I am sick of arguing with the company any further. My decision on the ThinkPad was based on that IBM/Lenovo is designed to serve business class customers and theoretically should have "business-class support". For this very reason, I have added the best warranty service they was offered to me at the time (3yr onsite + accidental). I am just guessing at that time I just wanted to get away from small companies and go to a company that would back their customers' laptops.
As soon as I got my hands on a T500, however, I have noticed that something is wrong with the card reader. Apparently the reader on the machine would not read SDHC cards (it does read SD cards, however.) This is a problem because I only use SDHC cards and the machine was not able to read any of them. As the card reader controller is manufactured by the same manufacturer (Ricoh) and my older ASUS laptop was able to read SDHC cards, I thought something odd was going on with my machine. This was also based on the evidence that other T500 owners were able to read SDHC just fine.
In addition to the card reader, I was also having troubles in which the machine would freeze whenever Nero Burning ROM (a CD/DVD authoring software) is used.
My first support call to Lenovo was not that pleasant, given that I was placed on hold for 20 minutes when the rep was looking up specs for SHDC compatibility. The rep also said that they would not troubleshoot 3rd party software and would not help me on the issue. I was also told that I should also call back during "regular business hours (apparently until 5pm EST, or 2pm PST (my time)" (despite that the technical support hotline is open 24/7) so that a supervisor can handle my case. This makes it very difficult for me to get to someone with any authority as I am usually busy throughout the day until late afternoons (~4pm PST -> 7pm EST).
Nevertheless, my second call to Lenovo was much more pleasant. The rep handled my case in a timely fashion and promptly provided replacement parts indicated by my problem. (Onsite motherboard replacement for the card reader, and a separate shipment for the DVD-RW drive). Turns out that the motherboard replacement did fix the SDHC issue, although the freezing problem was not caused by hardware failures, but rather a faulty driver that was corrected after Lenovo released an update months later on the Intel SATA controller drivers.
Five months later, after having to use a broadband WWAN card for my work, I also started to notice there is something wrong with the broadband WWAN card. The card used is the Ericsson F3507g card (or the AT&T broadband WWAN option). Not only would the connection be very flaky, it would also drop connections fairly frequently. It seems that a SIM card pull to another card would result in a perfect connection and ever since I have been using an addon card instead to use the Internet. When I confronted Lemovo with the problem, the experience was worse than the first one. I have made at least six service calls to Lenovo and everytime the reps will waste my time with basic troubleshooting which I told them repeatedly that I have already done (I have even reinstalled the OS but it seems that it does not matter to the reps). Here are some things that are repeated over and over:
    1) Can you uninstall the Power Manager Driver and the Wireless WAN drivers and reinstall them?
    2) Can you go on to our website and download the WWAN drivers (document ID: MIGR-70000 - I even remembered this number since it was repeated so many times) - and the Power Manager Driver and reinstall it?
    3) Can you go to Device Manager (the rep would go step by step to it even though I told him I already know how to get there), and see if there are any "bangs" (exclamation marks) on any of the devices?
    4) Since you were able to connect to the AT&T network, then from the hardware standpoint there is nothing wrong with your card. This indicates there is a software configuration or a driver problem. (I have been trying to acquire the latest drivers but what I have was already the latest)
    5) Since your card could connect to the network, you should contact your provider for help. (AT&T blames it on the card)
    6) I'm sorry but there is nothing I can do to help you. You should contact your provider about the card (despite that I acquired the card from Lenovo and not from them)
    7) Are you sure that your card is activated properly? It doesn't show in our systems that the card has been activated properly. You will need to call both AT&T and the Lenovo activation hotline (whatever this is) to have your card work properly. (I have never heard of this before)
Despite telling these reps I have an addon card that works perfectly and that I have done all the basic troubleshooting already, none of them are really willing to give me a replacement card. They would either request that I send my computer back to the depot (which I do not want to do since I use this laptop everyday and that's why I have onsite warranty), fail to help me, or transfer me to someone else that makes me do all the troubleshooting all over again. (Every call I made to Lenovo can be said to be composed of at least 20 minutes of basic troubleshootings with the end result of not being able to help)
After having the case escalated to a team leader, I was told that someone would give me a call within a few hours since their team leader is with another customer. Result? No callbacks. Not within a day, nor two.
Called Lenovo again, they apologized, but samething happened - supervisor on the line - promised another callback by a supervisor - but nothing, nada!
Called Lenovo a third time - was again told the same thing, but I am not falling for that anymore - the rep finally agreed to give me a replacement, as well as as to send out a technician that would fix the LCD cover that is starting to get loose on one side.
At that time, I was so frustrated and this reminds me of the pain I have went through with my old ASUS laptop and their grumpy customer service. It just seems to me that it has to be that difficult to have anything resolved or fixed. (What is especially frustrating is that the basic reps do not have any authority to make any decisions, 90% of the time I will need to be transferred to a supervisor of some sort before my case can be handled successfully - which is hard at times given that I only have until 2pm PST to call them)
Received replacement, but did not fix issue. I have noticed that the GPS (which was part of the WWAN card) also has problems getting adequate signals for a 3D Fix. I have once again called Lenovo, this time raising the concerns with the GPS and seeking for help. Along with the basic troubleshooting, here is what Lenovo has to say about the GPS issue which frustrates me even more:
    1) uh, G..P..S? what GPS? (most reps I call say this, shows me that they either don't know what a GPS is or know that there is a dedicated GPS builtin on the Ericsson module. Perhaps they don't even know that ThinkVantage GPS existed)
    2) You will need to have active service in order to use GPS (I do have active service, but nevertheless that statement is false since a 3D fix can be successfully acquired with a dummy card - I guess the rep has no idea what he/she was talking about)
    3) That's a software issue - you need to call AT&T and tell them about the problem (Again, I guess the rep has no idea that the GPS is not linked to AT&T's networks - there is a dedicated GPS on the card that allows the ThinkVantage GPS tool to acquire proper GPS signals) (Also, why would AT&T troubleshoot a tool that Lenovo made called ThinkVantage GPS? - I don't get it)
    4) You need to uninstall, and then reinstall the Power Manager driver and also the latest WWAN drivers. (I did that, did not work - I have told them I even reinstalled the OS from scratch)
    5) You need to go uninstall, and then reinstall the Wireless LAN drivers (although I am talking about wireless WAN, not LAN)
    6) There are two wireless adapters in your laptop? Are you sure about this?
    7) LAN, or WAN? What are you referring to? (I guess some reps are not aware what WWAN means)
After dealing with the numerous reps that have no idea what I was talking about, I have decided that I would just take the machine into depot, which would give me a chance to explain the other issues I have with the machine as well.
Here are some of the issues I am having with my T500 right now (please comment if you have the same issues or perhaps have a possible solution/workaround for it)
    1. The left side of the LCD cover has a pressure point, which causes the cover to dislodge from the rest of the panel slightly when pressure is applied from the back side of the cover. (Could be caused by closing the lid, for example) - IBM technician applied some adhesive to the inside, which helped it from dislodging, although the left side is still a little filmsy compared to the right.
    2. This error randomly pops up at infrequent intervals: "Display driver igfx stopped responding and has successfully recovered."
The latest GFX driver is installed and all updates have been installed. OS has been reinstalled but problems still occurs infrequently.
    3. This error also pops up at infrequent intervals: "Active protection is not functioning as system detected the abnormal sensor status. To diagnose the sensor device, run PC DOCTOR DOS - HDD Active Protection Test and if it still shows, contact Help and Service for repair." The only problem is, my laptop only came installed with PC Doctor 5 for Windows and when I run it"
I ran a sensor check in DOS using the diagnostic CD and the sensor checked out okay. This error seems to happen mostly after I changed a setting in the Active Protection System software. (ex. changing the suspend time, etc)
    4. By default, the internal microphone does not work. In order for the internal microphone to work, the Advanced multi-stream mode must be enabled in the SmartAudio control panel. If both redirection options are enabled, the internal microphones and the speakers would then work normally. However, the hotkey controls on the ThinkPad would not control the right device when headphones are plugged in (since headphones are classified as its own device when the Advanced stream mode is enabled) - Mute and volume controls thus only controls the internal speakers' volume, and have no control whatsoever when headphones are plugged in.
    5. The brightness on the T500 is rather dim. I am not sure if that's how the monitor is, but I can hardly see anything unless the display brightness is close to the max setting. I have the 1680x1050 matte screen.
    6. The WWAN card does not make a stable connection to the network and ThinkVantage GPS does not acquire a 3D Fix even when under direct sky for >20 minutes. What is interesting though is that if I turn off the monitor screen (Fn+F3) or close to lid, the WWAN connection will be very stable and GPS will function normally (acquire fix usually within 2-3 minutes). If the monitor/screen is turned back on after a GPS Fix is acquied, the signals will quickly deteriorate and the updates will either become delayed/inaccurate or a fix will be lost. The brighter the screen, the harder it is to get a fix or a stable connection. (At the max setting it is almost impossible to get a fix while at the lowest brightness a very weak fix can be acquired - this is the case even many sattelites have been detected) Perhaps something with power consumption? Or the LCD drawing too much power?
    7. Although it does not happen very frequently, pressing Fn+F3 to turn off the display might cause the LCD to flicker on and off non-stop.
    8. This used to happen more with the older version of the Lenovo Fingerprint Software - but sometimes the software tends to get stuck at the welcome screen after returning from sleep/suspend/standby mode. The screen will remain at Please Wait forever and a hard restart will be required to get back into Windows.
    9. At frequent intervals the sound from the internal speakers would stop working and only the headphones would work. The sound might, however, come back if I leave the headphones plugged in long enough and unplug them. Restarting the Windows Audio service will temporarily restore audio but the same issue tends to happen again soon after that. Driver issue? (I am not sure if it's relevant, but I tend to put my computer to sleep instead of shutting it down)
I have explained all of these issues on a piece of paper that I have included in my shipment to Flextronics. I have also included in big letters to make sure that they do not send the laptop to the address where they originally sent the "box" to. This is because I am only at that address a few days during the year and I don't plan to be there most days during the year.
On the first day, it seemed that the status changed from "Machine being repaired" to "Hold for customer information".
Apparently I missed a call from a number with an area code of 901 (which is Memphis, TN - I assume this is Lenovo's support center, since this is where the package was sent to). No messages were left on the voicemail. Called the number back, but was however told that I dialed the wrong number and no one has ever called me on this number (the lady on the phone was quite rude too) I then called the 800 EZServ number instead, turns out that they wanted one of my passwords which I gave them.
The evening after I saw that the machine was successfully repaired and that it is being shipped back to me. However, no tracking number was provided. (There still isn't a tracking number on the EZServ status page)
Hoping that my machine was repaired in good condition, I took a day off so I would be able to wait for UPS to deliver my laptop.
Such that I have something to work with, I called the EZServ # and see if they had a tracking number for my shipment. At the same time, I asked what components were replaced and/or what components were installed to the system. To my surprise, they reimaged the whole system and I was not even informed about this at all! (I do understand I checked the Yes box in the problem description page, but I felt that it was important that the repair center let their customers know before their data will be destroyed - luckily I imaged my laptop right before I shipped it out so I have a copy of my data) In addition, it also seemed that they did not read any of the pages I enclosed in the shipment since nothing about the WWAN card was ever mentioned, despite special emphasis placed on this when I called Lenovo to have my computer sent back. It seemed that the rep only recorded one of the problems I listed above, which was unsatisfactory.
The repair process was disappointing, as I have included in my problem description that I have previously tried reinstalling the whole OS from scratch and the problems did not go away. Reimaging the system will also probably have no effect on the problems I have described in the problem description.
What is more surprising to me though was that they totally skipped the notation I put on to have the notebook shipped to an alternate address relative to the box address. To make this impossible to miss, I miss drew a big * and circled it many times so that anyone would see it if they were reading the sheet. I found out shortly after checking on the UPS website that the city the package was being shipped to was that of the wrong address, and not the city of that of the alternate address. I was horrified after knowing that the package would not arrive today but yet I still took a day off work. (How disappointing?!)
Again and again, I called EZServ to see if I can have the package intercepted so it can be delivered to the right address. An intercept was placed on the package, although I received a call 30 minutes later from UPS saying that the intercept failed since the package has already been delivered. UPS also told me there is no way the people living there can simply return it and continue on with the intercept. Not happy with what I am hearing, I called EZServ and see if they can set up a pickup request to have the package delivered to my address. The first rep hanged up on me shortly she answered. The second rep called UPS, placed me on hold for more than 20 minutes, then hanged up on me. The third rep called UPS, and told me that they have esculated the case and that "UPS will handle everything", whatever that means. (she refused to disclose any more details). She told me that I would be receiving a call from her shortly on the details on the upcomings and promised that I would be receiving my laptop back. As with Lenovo, I didn't receive any callbacks. I called EZServ once more, and all they would say is tell me to wait. Sick and tired of waiting and calling and not getting anywhere, I drove 100 miles to where they shipped my laptop and picked it up there. I just don't know whether to trust the EZServ people anymore....
As far as the laptop goes, I didn't have time to open the box or to test it yet. But I will let you all know once I have taken a look at the results.
While the past experiences have been painful, I haven't lost all hope in Lenovo yet - although I really think that the customer service can really improve on certain levels.
Please give me advices on what to do next!
    Thanks for reading this!

  • Numbers Template Won't Open

    Hey All -
I have a Numbers (iWork09) template that will no longer open after my upgrade to Lion (actually three variations of the same template).  In addition, all documents that had been created from those templates no longer open either, so I'm fairly confident the actual template file isn't the culprit.
When I open the template (or one of the documents derived from that template), either Numbers freezes and I have to force quit, or the open progress bar stops mid through opening - and I have to force quit.  Sometimes the progress bar will complete, but the document still won't open, allowing me to continue to work in Numbers, just not on that document.
I have no idea which way to go next to trouble shoot this problem.
I've uploaded the file to my dropbox to see if someone else can replicate the problem and offer a solution.
    Suggestions?
    Thanks!

As you may see below, no problem here.
    (1) as you upgraded to Lion, it would be a good idea to update your profile which claims (10.5.1)
    (2) I don't know how you installed Lion.
As I do for every major upgrade, I installed on a blank HD.
    (3) May you try to run the app from an other user account ?
I know that you will have to copy the custom template to this account but it's not too complicated (you are not forced to copy it in Templates > My Templates. Copy it to the Desktop would be sufficient)
Doing that would tell us if we must search the culprit in your original account or in the huge set of files shared by every accounts.
    (4) You wrote "I have a Numbers (iWork09) template". Is it Numbers as component of the iWork package as it was delivered since january 2009 or is it Numbers bought as a single apple from Mac App Store ?
If it’s a component of the package, may you check that the set of shared files is available on your system ?
On your system, Bibliothèque may be spelled Library
