Read from insert?

Is it possible to query the database from a create statement? For instance, when the create service is called, an SQL statement is executed and those results are included in the insert. If this is possible, what is the general approach?
Thanks!
Dave

You can write a create procedure in XQSE that first reads and then calls another create procedure. Any procedure can be designated a create procedure, but in order to be a primary create procedure, it has to adhere to the parameter and return type convention.
Here is an example that only adds an address if none exists for that customer, you can add it in the RetailDataspace to Normalized/Customer/Address.ds:
(::pragma  function <f:function kind="create" visibility="public" isPrimary="false" xmlns:f="urn:annotations.ld.bea.com"/>::)
declare procedure tns:addAddressCheckFirst($arg0 as element(ns7:ADDRESS)) as element(ns7:Address_KEY)?{
    declare $sameCustomerAddresses := tns:getAddress()[CustomerID = $arg0/CustomerID];
    fn-bea:probe($sameCustomerAddresses);
    if (not(fn:exists($sameCustomerAddresses))) then {
        return value tns:createADDRESS($arg0);
    } else {
        return value ();
};Recommended reading:

  • Using servlets to read from text file and insert data

    Hi,
    Can I use a servlet to read from a space delimited text file on the client computer and use that data to insert into a table in my database? I want to make it easy for my users to upload their data without having to have them use SQL*Loader. If so can someone give me a hint as how to get started? I appreciate it.
    Thanks,
    Colby

    Create a page for the user to upload the file to your webserver and send a message (containing the file location) to a server app that will open the file, parse it, and insert it into your database. Make sure you secure the page.
    or
    Have the user paste the file into a simple web form that submits to a servlet that parses the data and inserts it into your db.

    I Mac is not reading from DVD drive. Disk will insert, then some noises but after a few seconds, nothing. I am trying to install Broterh printer disks. Any ideas? I am on Mavericks.

    Reset the NVRAM/PRAM and Reset the SMC, then try again.

  • Inserting in the UUT_Results table a value that we read from our data base from a local variable

    We would like to include in the UUT_Results table a value that we read from our data base into a local variable during the execution of our sequence file. We found that by modifying the configure database options we were able to add a column for this variable, but the local variable was not available to be placed into an expression for that column from the local variables or parameters. Is it possible to do this, and if so, how? Station Globals were available to be included in the expression, however the sequence file may be executed on more than one system which makes the Global unavailable on systems other than the one where the sequence file originated.

    You can use the TestStand API to programmatically create global variables at runtime, thus ensuring their existence. For example, you could call Engine.Globals.SetValString("GlobalStringVariableName", PropOption_InsertIfMissing, "variable value")
    Of course, if you need to test multiple UUTs in parallel, a single global is not sufficient. In that case you might consider adding the field you need to the UUT datatype in the process model. You could then access the field in your sequence via RunState.Root.Locals.UUT.YourNewField = YourNewValue.
    If you also want your sequence to run without using a process model, you must check for the existence of the UUT before accessing it. You could use the expression function: PropertyExists("RunState.Root.Locals.UUT.YourNewFi
    eld")

  • UPDATE : Toshiba Recovery Wizard 'cannot read from source file or disk' error (satellite L500)

    UPDATE 2: Phoned Toshiba tech support again, guided by techie to begin the recovery again. Just before phoning I was able to go into recovery options and view the drive setup and all the files that couldn't be read are on the CD so I've no idea why the error kept occuring, and neither did the techie. Fingers crossed it works this time but I'm not overly hopefully given that we've just done exactly the same as I did before.  UPDATE 1: I got into the BIOS and reset everything back to defaults and yay, my toshiba recovery wizard now starts! :-D  On the down side, when trying to do a factory default software / out of the box recovery I continually get error messages with regards to copying the files, for example
    cannot read from source file or disk
    7z.dll
    Type application extension
    size 585kb
    date modified 7/14/2009 10.26pm
    other read / copy errors include PREINST6.SWM, BOOT_32, BOOTPRIORITY, CHECKMAXPTSIZE, CHGBOOT, CPU, CPUCHECK, CREATEPARTITION, CTRLDRVINFO, DISKWIPE, DMI, DPINST32, EBLIB.DLL, ERRORDIALOG, EW3BOOTSEQ, FWLINK, FWLINK.SYS, GETHDDINFO, GETKEYSTATE, IMAGEX, INFILED, INITRECAREA, KRAIADAPI.DLL ..... at which point I decided to 'skip all' :-/
    Any explanations as to what's going on and how I might be able to fix it would be very much appreciated! :-)  Thank you!
    I have a two and half year old satellite L500 with an Intel i-3 and 4 gigs of RAM, on which I was running Windows 7.
    Admittedly it’s had rather a hard life (I ran some very demanding CAD / graphics software on it) but it had always performed well until just recently, when after suffering several BSOD (which had never happened before), the hard drive failed.
    I partitioned and formatted a brand new hard drive (which is perfectly fine and functions normally when hooked up to another laptop with a SATA to USB cable) and obtained system recovery discs from Toshiba.  Unfortunately, when I try and run the first disc, windows starts to load files but then generates an error screen with the message Error F3-F100-0003 and a request to turn the computer off.
    When I use the windows Memory Diagnostic to get into the Windows Boot Manager Screen I get the following;
    Windows failed to start.  A recent hardware / software change might be the case.
    To fix the problem
    Insert your windows installation disc and restart your computer
    Choose your language settings and click ‘next’
    Click ‘repair your computer’
    File: \boot\memtest.exe
    Status: 0xc000000f
    Info: the selected entry could not be loaded because the application is missing or corrupt.
    I can also use F8 on startup to get into the advanced boot options but selecting any of them simply results in the F3-F100-0003 error message.  I’ve run a memory test using the UBCD, which tells me the memory is fine, and tried another hard drive (which also works perfectly well in another laptop) but no joy.  On phoning Toshiba support the techie said my hard drive had failed, but as I say, both hard drives are perfectly fine / usable when hooked up to another laptop.  I’m now completely stuck as to what the problem is and how I might resolve it – any advice / suggestions would be most gratefully received! Thank you in advance :-)

    Satellite L655-S5096
    Downloads here.
    the second disc gives me the the "cannot read from source file or disk PREINST8.SWM"
    My best guess is that the disc is not readable. Try copying it to another. Sometimes that works.
    Otherwise, order new discs from Toshiba.

  • I tunes: when trying to burn a playlist I keep getting the message: the attempt to burn a disc failed. The disc could not be read from or written to. I am using version 12

    I tunes: I am using version 12 of I tunes. Ever since downloading it I get the message when trying to burn a playlist it says, The attempt to burn a disc failed. The disc could not be read from or written to.
    I uninstalled V-12 and then reinstalled it. This enabled me to burn a disc again but after a couple of tries I received the same error message again. Has Apple put out a fix to this problem that anyone is aware of?
    Thanks.

    Hi rossfrombluffton,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!  The resource below provides some general things to consider when burning a disc with iTunes.  I would also try burning a music CD and a data disc from a different application in the Windows OS and trying a different brand CD just to confirm the issue is not with the optical drive.
    Can't burn a CD in iTunes for Windows - Apple Support
    http://support.apple.com/en-ae/HT203173
    Find out what to do if you can't burn an audio CD using iTunes for Windows. Sometimes an audio disc may not burn as expected. Here are some things to check.
    Update iTunes
    Download and install the latest version of iTunes for Windows.Check for unauthorized songs
    iTunes will stop burning a disc if you purchased one or more of the songs in a playlist from the iTunes Store and the songs aren't authorized to play on your computer. This message should appear: "Some of the files can not be burned to an audio CD. Do you still want to burn the remainder of this playlist? For more information on why some files can not be burned, click below."
    To find out which songs aren't authorized, play each song in the playlist. Songs that play are authorized. Songs that don't play aren't authorized. You'll be asked to authorize any unauthorized songs.Make sure your playlist will fit on a single CD
    If there are too many songs in a playlist to fit on a single CD, iTunes should ask if you want to burn multiple discs or cancel the burn. This message should appear: "The songs in this playlist will not fit on one Audio CD. Do you want to create multiple Audio CDs with this playlist split across them? This will require more than one blank CD to complete."
    If you click the Audio CDs button, the burn will continue and you'll be asked to insert blank CDs until the playlist is completely burned. If you click cancel, the burn will be canceled.
    To make the playlist shorter so that it will fit on a single CD, select a song to remove from the playlist and choose Edit > Clear. Repeat this step until the duration of the playlist is between 60 and 80 minutes. The duration appears at the top of the playlist window. Most CD-R discs can hold 60 to 80 minutes of music.
    Check how many times you've burned the playlist
    An unchanged playlist that contains songs purchased from the iTunes Store can be burned no more than seven times.Additional steps and submitting feedback

  • Error in reading from excel file

    hi,
    I have written a program which reads from excel file
    and based on the value of the column i have to do something.
    Everything is fine but when i run it, it produces an error message
    Exception: For input string: "851.0"
    the value 851.0 is acually the value of the first column.
    Here is the code and i hope someone can help me to find the solution
    try{
                               Class.forName("sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver");
                               Connection con = DriverManager.getConnection( "jdbc:odbc:exceltest" );
                               Statement st = con.createStatement();
                               ResultSet rs = st.executeQuery( "Select * from [Sheet1$] " );

                                            for (int i = 1; i <= numberOfColumns; i++) {
                                                 if(i==1){
                                                            String columnValue1 = rs.getString(i);
                                                            custNo =Integer.parseInt(columnValue1);
                                                           // System.out.println(columnValue1);

                                                 else if (i == numberOfColumns && found==false)
                                                           String columnValue = rs.getString(i);
                                                           if(columnValue=="a")
                                                                incrementCusta();
                                                           else if (columnValue=="b")
                                                                incrementCustB();
                                                           else if(columnValue=="c")
                                                                incrementCustc();
                                                           else if(columnValue=="d")
                                                                incrementCustId();
                                            System.out.println("");
                                       st.close();
                                       con.close();
                                      } catch(Exception ex) {
                                           System.err.print("Exception: ");
                                           System.err.println(ex.getMessage());
                                 }

    Maybe 851.0 is float value, not string.
    Try Object columnValue1 =
    rs.getObject(i); instead of String
    columnValue1 = rs.getString(i);
    You are absolutely right i actually change the line
    custNo =Integer.parseInt(columnValue1);
    into
    custNo =Double.parseDouble(columnValue1);
    Thanks alot :)

    For manual Proviosioning - It works fine.
    It fails when I create user in OIM using flat file GTC . I have an access policy to auto proviosion that user with ldap.
    As mentioned before, I notice none of the prepops on Ldap process form are able to read value from Xel user form.
    Steps I tried Already:
    1- Checking access policy
    2-remapping process form adapters
    Pls. let me know ur thoughts.

  • "iPod can not be read from or written to"

    Need a little help from the experts.
    I've scoured Apple's support site, this site and several others for mention of an error that reads like this:
    "Unable to read from or write to disk "(insert iPod name here)".
    Here's what happens:
    Open iTunes
    Plug in iPod (4th Gen 20GB)
    iTunes recognizes iPod
    Transfer of song begins
    Error occurs
    I've tried shutting down all my anti-virus/security but that's no help. There's also no ID of the error. I've seen a lot posted about "-36" and "-69" errors but this one has no such notation. I've also booted off iTunes and iPod software and reloaded to no avail. Can anyone here help?
    Thanks in advance!

    hi Matchman!
    apparently, the same rules for treating the -36 apply to this one too ... (the KB doc was just recently updated to say so.) see:

    keep us posted.

  • Cannot read from the source file or disk

    I had to get a new hard drive for my Satellite A665 old one kept freezing up; had a recovey disk from Geek Squad when I got it but they did not work.  So I ordered a Recovery Disc set from Toshiba.
    A few minutes after I insert the 3nd disc, I get the following message:

    Clicking [Try Again] or [Skip] clicked try again twice. Gave same message so clicked skip after checking do it for next one. Got error message.
    An error has occurred.
    Error:  10-FC06-0002
    Recovery Error.
    Please press [OK] to turn off the computer.
    I tried erasing the disk, then running the Recovery Wizard again, but wind up in the same place.

    It's hard to know exactly what the problem is. You might want to contact customer support because it could just be a faulty disc.

  • ITunes 7.1.1.5 will not play audio from inserted cd

    I have been experiencing an issue with iTunes on my PC. It will not play any audio from inserted discs. This includes burned discs and commercial discs. When I attempt to play the music the song will stay highlighted briefly, about 2 sec., and then it goes directly to the next song on the disc. This continues through the disc to the end. I experience the same issue when trying to import the disc.
    I have tried removing the iTunes application and doing a fresh re-install, but I have the same issue.
    Also, this is on a PC, and I am able to open the disc's in question and play the content fine within Media Player.
    Any idea's on this would be greatly appreciated!

  • How to read from a ResultSet right after insertRow() ?

    Suppose I have table TABLE with a numeric ID primary key that is filled in automatically by the db (i.e., using a combination of a sequence and on-insert trigger). My problem is that after the insert I have to make another query just to get the value of the ID column (which I need for further processing). This is awkward, so tried the following:
    ResultSet rs = stmt.executeQuery("SELECT ID, NAME FROM TABLE WHERE 1 = 2");
    for (int i = 0; i <5; i++) {
        rs.moveToInsertRow();
        rs.updateString(2, "test"+i);
        rs.insertRow();
        System.out.println("id = " + rs.getInt(1)); }but this always prints 0, i.e., the result set does not pick up the new ID.

    can anyone help me?
    Some additional comments:
    You really don't want to read any file one character at a time, because it is highly inefficient. More typically, you read the entire file into memory with one operation (or at least a large chunk, if the file is gigantic) and then do the rest of the operations in memory.  One easy way to analyze it one byte at a time would be to use "string to byte array" and then autoindex into a FOR loop, for example.
    Of course you could also read the file directly as a U8 array instead of a string.

  • How to read from BLOB and Write to a file in user readable format.

    Hi,
         I am trying to read from a BLOB column and write the content to a file in user readable format. So far I was able to read the Blob column using dbms_lob, but not able to write to a file. Kindly let me know the method to do this.

    Hi, with this Java Code from Oracle Technet it's a easy thing:
    // classpath= /ORACLE/u01/app/oracle/product/10.2.0.3/jdbc/lib/ojdbc14.jar
    // Java SQL classes
    import java.sql.Connection;
    import java.sql.DriverManager;
    import java.sql.Statement;
    import java.sql.PreparedStatement;
    import java.sql.ResultSet;
    import java.sql.SQLException;
    // Oracle JDBC driver class
    import oracle.jdbc.OracleDriver;
    // Java IO classes
    import java.io.IOException;
    import java.io.BufferedReader;
    import java.io.FileNotFoundException;
    import java.io.FileReader;
    //Java Util classes
    import java.util.Properties;
    * This class demonstrates the Oracle JDBC 10g enhanced features for inserting
    * and retrieving CLOB data from the database. Using the new features, large
    * data of more than 32765 bytes can be inserted into the database using the
    * existing PreparedStatement.setString() and PreparedStatement.getString()
    * methods.
    public class ClobMan {
    /* Database Connection object */
    private Connection conn = null;
    /* Variables to hold database details */
    private String url = null;
    private String user = null;
    private String password = null;

    // the new property SetBigStringTryClob.
    private Properties props = new Properties();
    /* String to hold file name */
    private String fileName = null;
    * Default Constructor to instantiate and get a handle to class methods
    * and variables.
    public ClobMan(String fileName) {
    this.fileName = fileName;
    * Main runnable class.
    public static void main(String[] args) throws SQLException {
    // Instantiate the main class.

    // Load the Oracle JDBC driver class.
    DriverManager.registerDriver(new OracleDriver());
    // Load the database details into the variables.
    String dbUrl = "jdbc:oracle:thin:@pmol:1550:dbpmol";
    clobMan.url = dbUrl;
    clobMan.user = "gh10";
    clobMan.password = "secret";
    // Populate the property object to hold the username, password and
    // the new property 'SetBigStringTryClob' which is set to true. Setting
    // this property allows inserting of large data using the existing
    // setString() method, to a CLOB column in the database.
    clobMan.props.put("user", clobMan.user );
    clobMan.props.put("password", clobMan.password);

    //clobMan.insertClob();
    clobMan.selectClob();

    * Oracle JDBC 10g has enhanced the existing PreparedStatement.setString()

  • Maint. Status in Dictionary: Maintain View- setting read and insert only.

    I am creating a maint. view for a custom table I have created.  Say the view was accessed via sm30, the user should be able to view existing records and insert new records, but not delete or change existing records.
    When in the Dictionary:Maintain View (from se11), I am on the Maint. Status tab and I see several options for access:
    -read only
    -read, change, insert, delete
    -read and change
    -read and change (time specific)
    The problem is, there is no option for READ and INSERT.  Does anyone know how to limit the access to this?
    Thanks,
    Aaron

    A workaround is to allow everything in DDIC and modify the function's PAI (se30 generation) to disallow whatever you want.
    Best!

  • File Upload and Reading from Ex cel

    Hi ALL,
    In my jsp page I have the file form field (input type=file) by which i browse for a excel file in local system and when i select the file and clicks on the submit button.
    The excel file should be uploaded to server and at the same time the contents of the excel file should be read and inserted into the database.
    Can any one help me in this regard
    My html looks like this
    <tr>
    <td>Select File</td>
    <td><input type="file" name="file">
    </td>
    </tr>
    <tr>
    <td colspan="2"><div align="center">
    <input type="submit" name="Submit" value="Submit">
    </div></td>
    </tr>
    Thanks in advance
    Ravi

    you actually have several problems here.... the first is getting the file to the servlet/jsp. look into the IFleUpload component from apache. http://jakarta.apache.org they have an File uploading system that works really well. After that, you have to "understand" the spreadsheet. If the user(s) have sent it up as a CSV or some other type of simple file, cool, otherwise you are going to have to either write or find a library to parse and interpret excel's file format. I realize I only gave a hint of answer to the first part of your question, but it should at least point you in the write direction.
    Ona side note - do they HAVE to upload an excel file? is there any way you can convince them to first save the excel file as a CSV or better, a tab delimited file? this would make your parsing job trivial. :)
