Real business

Why doesn't Adobe send invoices for Creative Cloud Teams? I receive an email, with a total, saying something or other about it including VAT. I need an invoice breaking this down. I know Adobe is new at working with firmss, but this is the way business works. You have to send all your team based clients a digital file of the reciept, not just consumer friendly email that has a few numbers on it.
And while you're at it, Adobe could be much better at constructing a help system that doesn't turn into a find the FAQ. Your company doesn't seem to understand the importance of communicating with your customers.

Hi bigBlueMango,

  • Hope for finally a real business agenda on NSeries...

    Is there any hope to see one of these days a real agenda made for business users on NSeries devices ?
    Here is currently what I miss on the very limited and basic agenda feature of S60V3 (btw, I use Lotus Notes on my PC) :
    - for a meeting to which you have been invited, see who is the meeting requester
    - for a meeting, see the list of all participants in the meeting
    - be able to make the link between meeting participants in the agenda and the S60 contact list/application (so you could click on a name in the meeting view which brings you to the contact entry with dailing/messaging options)
    - be able to cancel your participation to a meeting - next time you synchronize your mail application picks up and sends the cancellation notice
    - PC Sync should also stop truncating Lotus Notes entries in such a fancy way... On my previous HTC device, anything I had in my Lotus Notes calendar what perfectly synchronized, including all fields and anything - any lenght - that was in these fields.
    All in all, thse features are available STANDARD on Windows Mobile devices, since quite a time already. Of course you have this on BB devices as well. But estonishingly, Nokia's S60 evolution seems to be on a dead end.

    N-series phones are not marketed for business use, they are multimedia handsets for serious personal users.
    The E-series phones are designed for professional users, and have more of the features that you would need.
    In the case of any feature being missing from one of these phones, or a feature that doesn't do everything you would like it to do, you would probably find an application available on the web that you could install. These are 'smartphones', like pocket computers, which you can adapt and personalise as you wish. Look for applications that are compatible with your version of the S60 firmware.

  • Will iOS ever support more than one window simultaneously on the iPad?  Need for real business work...

    I would like to have more than 1 window (2 is better than 1 but more could be helpful) to for example be reading a document and using another to take notes or to copy/paste between them.  This is a key barrier to me using the iPad more than my MacBook.

    There are apps that provide two are more viewing "windows".

  • Business Services Configuration in SCSM or SCOM?

    Hi Everyone,
    I'm looking for someone with both SCOM 2012 and SCSM 2012 experience who can advise the best and/or preferred method of creating/populating Business Services in Service Manager 2012...
    The reason that I ask is that once we have a rock solid process for logging Incidents and Service Request, our next major priorities will be to get "basic" reporting & change management working.
    Change Management will obviously use the Business Services in the usual way - to manage changes that will affect the business service, whereas the level of reporting we want to obtain from the "basic" reporting is what Incidents have been occurring
    (possibly which categories they were logged under) and which Business service the Incidents Affected.
    Now, this is where I'm in two minds:
    On one hand a "non-technical" Microsoft field engineer suggested to create business service "place holders" and then configure SCSM to use these "dummy" (non-configured) business services for reporting purposes.
    On the other hand we have SCOM 2012 and I believe the preferred method is to import SCOM distributed Apps as Business services which has many additional long term benefits like being able to manage the end-to-end "Availability" of a Business Service
    etc.
    My biggest issue with creating "place holder" Business Services in SCSM is the amount of time it will take to configure all the templates with the "dummy" services only to have to reconfigure everything once we Import the "Real"
    Business Services from distributed apps configured in SCOM. It seems like a LOT of double handling to me.
    So, my question is basically (bare with me because I have VERY little SCOM knowledge) is there a way to create an MP in SCOM which would contain a "Distributed Application Template" (VERY basic Config) which can simply be duplicated MANY times
    and change it's name to match each of our Business Services. Once done the MP containing the Distributed Apps can be imported to SCSM and then the Business Service would still be "Dummy" blank place holders but they've also be the legitimate/actual
    Distributed apps that we will want to be using later down the track.
    If we went down this path and we kept an unsealed copy of this management pack, would it also be possible to go back and make changes to the MANY distributed apps to update the CI relationship information in SCSM?
    Hope this makes sense... basically I thought it would make more sense to create the "dummy" Business Services in SCOM and import them to SCSM for use now and in the future rather than create the "dummy" business services in SCSM now only
    to replace them with new imported Business Services from SCOM.
    Your thoughts, ideas and guidance will be GREATLY appreciated.

  • Help Required IN Business Process Monitoring?

    Hi,
    i have few clarifications reg BPM in solution Mangager
    1.What is monitored in BPM,Business Process interfaces or the business Process data( at does t monitors at data level)?
    2.if interfaces are monitored in Solman BPM,how different it is from Netweaver Business process management.?
    3.if possible can anyone brief out what XI process monitoring is and how is it different from SOLMAN BPM?
    helpful answers rewareded
    rgds,
    rajesh

    Hello Rajesh,
    please refer to https://service.sap.com/bpm --> Media Library --> Customer Information --> "Business Process & Interface Monitoring - Part 2" to get a comprehensiver overview about what is available out-of-the-box for BPMon in SolMan.
    BPMon in SolMan and BPM in Netweaver adress different target groups and can be seen a complementary functionalities.
    BPMon in SolMan is primarily targeting at the 2nd level application support and should ensure a stable and smooth processing of Business Processes from a technical as well as application perspective. The processes have a granularity down on transaction or background job level.
    Technical monitoring could be average response time of a transaction or a job cancellation.
    Application monitoirng is providing about the throughput numbers of documents like sales orders, deliveries or backlog figures indicating that there are erronuous documents or documents that need manual intervention. Looking at this last aspect it is clear that a second target group is key players on business unit side, like sales reposnibles, plant owners etc.
    On interface side you can monitor IDocs, qRFCs, Batch Input session for certain statuses, check if files arrived or do some XI messaged based alerting.
    BPM in Netweaver is a technical layer deeper and based especially on XI/PI. So this is an integration engine itself. When you look at the capabilities of XI/PI where you can split or correlate messages with ccBPM this is related to so called integration processes which could be a more detailed sub-process from what is looked at BPMon in SolMan. Other aspects that BPM in Netweaver is supports is Business Activity Monitoring BAM which cannot easily explained with  a few sentences. But here the target groups with BAM are either real business end-users or C-level management for business efficiency analysis.
    Hope this answer could clarify a few things.

  • Integrated Business Processes with ERP Systems Textbook

    This forum will move to the New SCN as part of our migration to a new platform. Once we make that move, on December 5, it will become a read-only discussion. It will be searchable but will not be part of the site navigation.  If you have questions, please contact me, [Gali Kling Schneider |http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/bc?u=6v4sgatytpg%3d].

    Dear Dr. Word,
    I am a graduate student of MIS at Northern Illinois University. I took Dr. Yipeng Liu’s course of Advanced Topic of Information Systems using your textbook - Integrated Business Process With ERP Systems. Your textbook is great. I have a question to discuss with you.
    On page 62 of your textbook, I don’t think the accounting process of purchasing supplies is correct. In the example, “GBI purchases office supplies for $500 with a check. Office supplies are expensed; that is, they are defined as money spent rather than treated as an asset upon purchase, even if some of the supplies remain unused. In this case, the relevant accounts are bank and supplies expense.”
    Actually, supplies unused are assets of companies. Otherwise we don’t need an account called supplies at all. In the given example, I think we should credit $500 to bank account and debit $500 to supplies account. If at the end of the fiscal year, we used only $300 supplies, then we credit $300 to supplies account and debit $300 to supplies expense account. This is the typical process of supplies accounting.
    “Office supplies are expensed; that is, they are defined as money spent rather than treated as an asset upon purchase, even if some of the supplies remain unused. “ This practice actually goes against the Matching Principle of General Acceptable Accounting Principles (GAAP). It’s not a good example especially in textbook, even though lots of companies are doing real business like this.
    I am looking forward to hearing your thoughts of my comments on supplies accounting of your textbook.

  • Business place and section code

    Hi SAP experts,
    With respect to India customization relating to section code and business place, i understand that business place is with respect to VAT regn and section code is with respect to TAN number held by a company.
    But do we need to create as many business places as section code and vice versa? In my current case we have about 14 VAT regn numbers and 1 TAN number. So do we just create one section code and one dummy business place and 14 real business places?
    Inputs highgly appreciated.
    Regards.
    SGP

    Hi,
    Business places are the location where tax is deducted. A company has various offices at Head Office, Regional offices etc. Tax can be deducted at any of these places. Withholding tax tracking is thus done based on business places.
    Section Code is used for each tax deduction account number (TAN) and accordingly to which TDS Certificates and Annual returns will be filed with tax authorities.It classify income tax and withholding tax payments depending on the location of income tax, and identify under which tax account deduction number (TAN) the item was posted.
    So depending upon in which state your plant/office resides , you can create that much number of Section Codes as given in example below.
    A company has a site in Bangalore, where its headquarters and a factory are located, and another factory in Mumbai:
    The Bangalore site has a TAN assigned by the Income Tax Officer of the Bangalore jurisdiction of TDS-1, Infantry Road, and a business place of M.G Road Bangalore
    The Mumbai factory has a TAN assigned by the Income Tax Officer of the Mumbai jurisdiction of JCIT, Central Range 10, and a business place of Mumbai South
    Hope it helps

  • Separating business Tier from presentation tier your opinion welcom

    Hi'
    I'va a business object which data members are stored in DB. The question
    is while I'm creating new object should I return exception to the
    presentation tier if object doesn't exist in DB(it's data members) or
    should I initialize object with empty values and afterwards call a
    function which will initialize object with values and test result of this
    function?

    It is okay to include basic logic like:
    Object a;
    try {
    a = getExistingObject(key);
    catch (Exception e) {
    a = createNewObject(key);
    finally {
    a.initilise();
    }just make sure no real business logic seeps into your presentation layer.

  • Oracle BPM Suite 11gR1 simulation using real data?

    Does anybody know if it is possible to "record" usage of a real business process model and use it as simulation data?
    Thanks for your time!

    I have exactly the same question from a prospect: They love the simulation feature in BPM 11g, and they are bought into the continuous improvement aspect of BPM. Now they want to understand how to put the two together and their question is whether and how is it possible to take actual process metrics and use those in a simulation. Is this possible? Thanks.

  • E6 + Belle = most advanced Nokia's business phone ...

    What is a MUST for business phone on the ONE FIRST HOMESCREEN :
    1) Clock
    2) E-Mail
    3) Calendar
    And this is - AT LEAST !
    Nokia – are you kidding? It’s real business phone now with Belle?

    @strelamcqueen: Full ACK!
    There are very few good business phones out in the wild.
    Better get an iPhone? Well, have fun typing and using the castrated calender and contact manager.
    Better get an Android? Ok, there's the Desire Z from HTC which has a neat hardware keyboard. Trying to sync your data with Outlook? Have fun finding an app that actually doesn't screw up at this.
    Better get a Blackberry? Well, probably the most reasonable alternative.
    If I read the words "iPhone" and "Android" in the same context as "business phone", I honestly believe this to be a good joke!
    Sorry guys, Nokia's current portfolio of Symban-powered business phones are the devices actually satsifying business needs (besides Blackberry, probably). I have not seen a single competitor that features a good calendar, contact manager, email program and sufficient Outlook synchronization. Those are capabilities that Nokia is just good at.

  • Is there any real support or help for lost orders

    Seriously. Any other company you can at least find a phone number. I made an order of a few prints for a christmas present 2 weeks ago. They never arrived, the tracking and order numbers apple supplied me do not show up when I login. There is no way to track any status, I cannot contact anyone...what do you do? Is Apple actually trying to make a real business out of providing this service? How can a company go into this market and offer no support? I sent an email via the web-form, but from my other experiences with apple support on hardware - it is not really going to yield much.
    Can anyone give me a phone number to call? Am I screwed and I should just reverse the charges on my credit card and use snapfish or some crap online service?

    Same thing is happening to me - no record of it anywhere ... except on my credit card!! This was a gift for my mother's birthday which is in 5 days!!!

  • Real Mail Problems On Lumia 1520

    Just got my first Windows phone, because I have always used Windows... remember 3.1?  I have used Androids and iPhones - but never great fit for work AND home use.  So, there is enough software available on tablets to start making them a real business tool.  But who wants to carry around a tablet and a phone?  I am sorry, I move around and work in a lot of different businesses, so a backpack or a messenger bag just is not an option.  So I look at and play with a demo Nokia Lumia 1520 - wow - looks great, pretty light, pretty thin, beautiful screen, responsive, Office - hey, maybe I do not need a tablet and a phone after all!!  The keyboard is a really nice size and if Microsoft proportions it better in 8.1 it would ROCK.  I can actually fill out forms and do some real work on this.  Not to mention a lot of the new features of 8.1 - this looked like a real keeper.  Researched and it has some nice reviews.  All of the reviews I have read were pretty positive - no major problems mentioned.
    Bought it.  Brought it home and started to set it up.  I have never had a problem setting up my work e-mail on any android or iPhone I have ever used.  I work for a non-profit which by law has to have a secure mail system.  Like I said, I have never had a problem setting up mail before on any android or iPhone.  But it is a "no go" with the Nokia 1520.  This became over 8 hours of reasearch and talking to Microsoft Support.  Guess what - because the 1520 has an SD card capability and cannot encrypt the SD card, the phone cannot be used with Exchange Mail if it requires security settings.  Remember, by law my mail has to be secure.  So when I try to use my e-mail I get  the message "...requires that certain security policies be enforced before you can sync your information. Contact a support person or your service provider. Last tried x minutes ago with error code 85010013"
    My phone calls to my office phone are digitized and sent to me through secure e-mail.  Opps - no longer get phone messages easily.  Cannot get work e-mail unless I bring a computer, another phone, a tablet, or go back to my office between travels.  That size advantage has just disappeared.  The phone is not a brick, but it is close to it.  I think that Nokia should put a warning on their web site, along with Microsoft and ATT, that "THIS PHONE MAY NOT BE ABLE TO SYNC WITH ALL EMAIL ACCOUNTS"
    OK - 1520 uses Microsoft OS, mail uses Microsoft Exchange, and they cannot work together.  This problem has been known for quite some time now.  No patch.  No solution.  Microsoft is aware of the problem.  When I asked if they were working on a solution the reply was do not count on it - they may or may not be - they do not announce patches.  So for a $600 phone(I got 32gb) would you take a chance that maybe sometime down the road that phone MIGHT be able to access secure mail?  Do they expect to sell this phone to a lot of business clients with corporate e-mail accounts?  To be honest - I see this as being a No Brainer.  Obviously, ATT, Nokia, and Microsoft have...  What a waste for what would otherwise be a great phone!

    +1
    I'm having the EXACT same problem.

  • Where do I write business Logic?

    Hi,
    Where do I write bisiness Logic?
    Tutorial said "It is common practice to include the bean property and the Action
    implementation to which it refers within the same bean class".
    But I thought EventHander Impl is better to write business Logic
    like retrieving the data from database.
    Which is common use?
    Or I need to choose them depending on the situation?
    Thanks in advance for you help.
    tomo

    Thanks for the reply!!
    But I am still confused.
    I thought I can write business logic A and B.
    What is difference between A and B ??
    Hi tomo,
    In the two options you provide the difference is not that much. The ActionListener instance willhave to be registered in your JSP of course to listen to the button or hyperlink with the f:action_listner tag. But in both cases your biz logic is in your ui. I think that is the wrong direction for you to head.
    I think the real question should be (forgive me if I'm pulling the discussion away from your question, but I think this is relevant) where does the business logic go.
    As Kito said your biz logic belongs apart from your UI logic (classic MVC approach). So in the real world what does that mean? As you suggest in option B in your last post a bean provides an action so that it can be specified via the actionRef attribute. This action in turn invokes a method on the bean it comes from which then invokes the business logic on the 'real' business logic.
    The Action becomes simply a translator (or part of the Adaptor pattern from the GoF book).
    For example lets say you have a bean that does biz processing like this;
    public interface CatalogFacade {
      public Collection getProducts(ProductSearchCriteria criteria);
    }And you want to invoke that 'business logic' from your JSF UI. The button would be declared with this code
    <h:comman_button id="searchCommand" type="submit"
                        label="Search"
                        commandName="search"
                        actionRef="searchBean.searchAction"/>In your searchBean you have many options to return the searchAction but I prefer the following
    public class SearchBean {
       public SearchFacade searchFacade = null; // this could be a managed bean or an EJBSession or whatnot
       public ProductSearchCriteria productSearchCriteria = null; // this should be 'filled' in by the form the button is on
       private transient Action searchAction = new Action() {
        public String invoke() {
          return search();
      public Action getSearchAction() {
        return searchAction;
      public void search() {
        Collection products = searchFacade.search(productSearchCriteria);
        // place the products collection into the next page's bean so that is can be found via valueRef attributes
    }Notice that no database hits are happening in the UI code. Also there is no business logic here either.
    It is very important to keep these two concerns divided for ease of maintenance. The typical reasoning goes something like this, 'your ui is very likely to change so keep it separate from your business logic'. Other reasons to be careful about mixing UI and biz logic is the likely hood that you will get very different behavior (one probably wrong) if you have to and another client to your biz logic.
    For example in the earlier product search stuff. If we needed a web service front end to the 'searchProducts' functionality and we had the db hit happening in the action or page bean we would be stuck. With the above impl we get to just put a WS over the facade and we are done.
    Hope this helps.
    You can also look at some of the blueprint patterns for more info. They start here;
    http://java.sun.com/blueprints/patterns/index.html
    While some of the EJB specific patterns might be more involved than you need they provide excelent archtectural guidence for web only apps as well.
    Good luck,
