Real slow response - Any suggections?

Hi,
I have a query that runs 3-4minutes in the interactive report region.
If I put it in a regular report region it comes back in 5 secs until I put a order by on it then it takes about 1 minute.
We have alot of data and show only what the person has access to so we check security tables, and the thing that kills us is the
OR U.EXAMINER_ID IN (select E.PID
     from PERSON E, PERSON S
     where S.PID = :G_PID
     and (E.REPORTS_TO_1 = S.position_id
     OR E.REPORTS_TO_2 = S.position_id
     OR E.REPORTS_TO_3 = S.position_id
     OR E.REPORTS_TO_4 = S.position_id)
How can I speed this up?
Can you do a Interactive report using Stored Procedure results?

Never mind, found a missing index.. went to 5 seconds.

  • My Mac just got real slow opening any webpage? My first problem, I purchased two years ago.

I purchased my MacBook Air 13" 23 months ago and it has been awesome! My first Mac. I loaded OS X Yosemite 10.10.1 about two weeks ago without problem. I've been experiencing very slow internet downloads. I've checked all my settings and line speeds, it takes 30 to 45 seconds to bring up a page, before it was 3 to 5 seconds.  Help!

If you have a rescue email address (which is not the same thing as an alternate email address) set up on your account then you can try going to https://appleid.apple.com/ and click 'Manage your Apple ID' on the right-hand side of that page and log into your account. Then click on 'Password and Security' on the left-hand side of that page and on the right-hand side you might see an option to send security question reset info to your rescue email address.
If you don't have a rescue email address then see if the instructions on this user tip helps : https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4551

  • Foxfire is running real slow and and any search I do it says problem loading page.

when I get on internet it is real, real slow. but it does pull up aol.com my homepage. but then when i try to search even websites i visit regularly it says there is a problem loading the page.

A possible cause is security software (firewall,anti-virus) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

You can try to reset (power off/on) the router.

  • New OIF installation - Very slow response from OHS

    Hi,
I've installed two instances of OIF 10.1.4.0.1 in order to create a test configuration to test XASP Attribute Sharing (i.e., we are not doing any other profiles).
Both OIF instances are using a separate instance of Sun Directory Server as its User Data Store, and both are using in-memory for Transient Data Store and have no Federation Data Store. Both OIF instances were installed similarly, using the "BASIC" installation choices, and are running on separate Redhat Linux servers.
The problem that we're seeing is very slow (10+ seconds to 30+ seconds) responses, even when we try to access a static HTML test page that we've placed in the OHS htdocs directory.
We've eliminated any networking problems as possibilities by a couple of tests that we've done, including shutting down the OHS and running a small, different test web server listening on port 7777. When we do that, response time for requests from that web server is almost instantaneous.
We are also seeing the same slow response when we try to access the test HTML page from the same server itself.
We have an SR open with Oracle, but so far, we've not been able to identify what the problem might be, so I'm hoping that perhaps someone else may have encountered this problem and have a resolution.
It is really puzzling because, as I said, this is a pretty vanilla default OIF installation, and it is doubly puzzling because even getting a tiny static HTML page is taking 10+ seconds. Also, I had installed OIF 10.1.4.0.1 on a Windows machine previously, and I don't see this problem on that earlier installation.
If anyone here has any insight into this problem, please let me know.
    Thanks,
    Jim

    Hi,
I think I was able to temporarily eliminate this slow response problem. I think that the slow response problem is related to another problem that I posted about in the "Application Server - General" forum (see below, and Port 7200 conflict?
    Jim
======= POSTED to Application Server - General forum ============
I think that I was able to temporarily work around this problem, plus another problem that I think is related (see: New OIF installation - Very slow response from OHS
What I did was to just comment out the "include" line for "dms.conf" in the Apache httpd.conf.
Doing that got rid of the "Address already in use" errors I was seeing in Apache error_log and also eliminated the slow response I was seeing from Apache/OHS (see that other post in "Identity Management" forum), BUT I am getting new errors about Apache not being able to find "htdocs/dms/Spy0".
I have the impression that dms is some kind of process monitoring system that Oracle has in 10gAS infrastructure? So, I have some questions:
    1) What's the effect of dms not working?
    2) Is it possible to just disable dms?
I hope that Oracle support can come up with a "real" fix for both problems, but in the meantime, as long as what I did doesn't break anything else besides dms, we can at least test the OIF stuff.

  • Slow Response Sun ONE 6.1 SP3 Win 2003

My Sun ONE web server is processing my JSP pages very quickly when serving one session at a time. However when there are 4 or more active sessions, it slows right down. Response time goes from 2 seconds (1 active session) to 60 seconds (multiple active sessions) for a single JSP page. I've been running the performance monitor to see if I can notice anything, but nothing seems to stand out. I have tried manipulating the Keep Alive settings and the Performance settings within the Magnus Editor but there hasn't been a noticable improvement.
I've recently upgraded to SP4 to see if this solved my problem, but there was no imporvement.
This server is an HP DL380 with dual 2.8GHz Xeon processors & 2 Gigs of RAM. There is a lot of available disk space. I'm running Windows 2003 and it's up to date with all the latest patches.

The JSP's are simply Hello World JSP's (however I created these type of JSP's for testing and they do respond slowly as well when these are multiple sessions).
These JSP functioned fine on iPlanet 6.0 SP1 (JDK 1.2.2) without any slow response on Win2K and inferior hardware.

  • Extremely Slow Response when attempting to display files on Windows Server

I have set up File Sharing on my MacBook Pro using SMB and defined the folders that are available to be shared. When I look at the Network Neighbourhood in Windows Explorer the Macbook appears listed with all the other PCs on the network. When I try to open the Macbook in Explorer it takes a very long time to open (about 2 minutes or so) and shows me the list of folders. When I try to open a folder the exact same thing happens - it opens after a couple of minutes, this continues for every folder that I try to open. I thought it might be that Explorer needed to "catalog" the files in the folders but the same thing happens each time - if I close the connection and try again it takes the same amount of time. What is very strange is that if I connect to the Windows Server from the Mac opening and looking at shared folders/files is instantaneous so clearly this is not a network problem. If I use the Win2K3 server to look at other computers/files the result is the same - instantaneous access, so it has nothing to do with the Win2K3 server - clearly the problem is with the MacBook serving up the file information to the Win2K3 server. I have tried with AFP on and off and the result is the same. The user name/pwd is the same on both the Win2K3 and the Macbook - and I have tried with a different username on the Win2K3 - no difference. Anyone have any ideas as to why this is happening?

Yes they are on the same workgroup, on ethernet, plugged into the same switch. The Mac can read and copy files of the Win2K3 server with no problem. The problem is clearly at the Mac end as the Win2K3 server can view files on any machine on the network without the slow response, the Mac can view files on the Win2K3 server without the slow response, it is only when the Win2K3 server tries to view files on the Mac.

  • Random users getting very slow response when opening messages/attachments or sending email

I have a small number of users, mostly very senior management of course, who are experiencing slow response when trying to open email messages and attachments or send messages.
They see the spinning wheel and sit there until it decides to open or send. If the message is opened  and closed again you would expect it to be quick reopening the same message, no, it does the same thing again.
These users are all using Outlook 2010 and their mail accounts are on Exchange 2013. It does not seem to make a difference if they use a physical machine or log into a VDI.
I do not have the same issue generally, though I have experienced this when using VDI and this has been seen using a number of different machine pools so it is not a specific pool.
This is not specifically a VDI issue, as the 3rd paragraph says, the issues are seen on both physical and virtual machines.
none of the mailboxes are particularly large, most are at around 60% of quota limit, and the same limit applies to almost all mailboxes across the organization. They also do not appear to have a huge number of messages stored, other users without issues
have larger mailboxes and higher item counts. Any ideas what I need to look at to address this?

    Hi,
    How about OWA?
If OWA works well, it seems an issue on the Outlook client side.
Please try to run Outlook under safe mode and re-create profile for testing.
Any related error/warning/information message left in App Log?
    Also consider the network Bandwidth.
    Thanks

  • Very slow response when I click on a link, but almost instant response if I go back and click a second time.

I often get very slow response when I click on a link, any link. But if I go back and click on the link again, then the page will open almost immediately. I discovered this by accident and noticed that this happens every time. It would be nice if I got fast response on the first click without having to do this silly procedure and it seems to me that there's a simple fix. I would appreciate it if you could help. I'm open to any and all ideas. Thanks again.
    Sincerely,

  • Using collections and experiencing slow response

I am experiencing slow response when using htmldb_collection. I was hoping someone might point me in another direction or point to where the delay may be occurring.
First a synopsis of what I am using these collections for. The main collections are used in order to enable the users to work with multiple rows of data (each agreement may have multiple inbound and outbound tiered rates). These collections, OBTCOLLECTION and IBTCOLLECTION, seem to be fine. The problem arises from the next set of collections.
OBTCOLLECTION and IBTCOLLECTION each contain a field for city, product, dial code group and period. Each of these fields contains a semi-colon delimited string. When the user chooses to view either the outbound tiers (OBTCOLLECTION) or the inbound tiers (IBTCOLLECTION), I generate four collections based on these four fields, parsing the delimited strings, for each tier (record in the OBT or IBT collection). Those collections are used as the bases for multiple select shuttles when the user edits an individual tier.
Here is the collection code for what I am doing.
When the user chooses an agreement to work with, by clicking on an edit link, they are sent to page 17 (as you see referenced in the code). That page has the on-demand process below triggered on load, after footer.
-- This process Loads the collections used
-- for the Inbound and Outbound tier details
         -- OBTCOLLECTION
         -- IBTCOLLECTION
-- It is an on-demand process called on load (after footer) of page 17 --
    -- OUTBOUND TIER COLLECTION --
if htmldb_collection.collection_exists( 'OBTCOLLECTION') = TRUE then
             htmldb_collection.delete_collection(p_collection_name => 'OBTCOLLECTION' );
         end if;

    -- INBOUND TIER COLLECTION --
if htmldb_collection.collection_exists( 'IBTCOLLECTION') = TRUE then
             htmldb_collection.delete_collection(p_collection_name => 'IBTCOLLECTION' );
         end if;
         htmldb_collection.create_collection_from_query(
             p_collection_name => 'IBTCOLLECTION',
             p_query           => 'select ID, AGREEMENT_ID, FIXED_MOBILE_ALL,

commit; The tables each of these collections is created from are each about 2000 rows.
This part is working well enough.

Try to instrument/profile your code by putting timing statements after each operation. This way you can tell which parts are taking the most time and address them.

  • SLow response of WEb Servers via CSM

    Hi,
I'm experiencing a slow response from my web servers via the CSM. After doing a sniffer trace it's show that the Vserver address does not reponse to the intial sync packet of the client but will only reponse to the second sync packets from the client. Thus the slowness of the reponse time.
May I know why is this so ?
Secondly I also notice the connection failure counter keeps going up for the "real servers" and the "CSM". May I know how does the CSM response to the client for a connection request. Does the CSM resonse immediately to the CLient via the VIP or does the CSM contact the REAL SERVERS first and once the REAL SERVERS resonded only then will it reponse back to the client.
    Thanks

the CSM will loadbalance the SYN [unless you have a Layer 7 vserver - you can see the level with sho mod csm x vserver detail].
Moreover, a connection failure indicates a server did not respond to a SYN or responded with a RESET.
So, I would sugges to verify the level of your vserver [most probably not l7] and then check your servers.
Make sure they sent traffic back to the CSM and not directly to the client.
Make sure the server is alive.

    Gilles.

  • Slow response on mac book pro and mountain lion

Over the past few months I have noticed that my MAC Book Pro is starting to act like a Windows machine. Freezing, slow response, Applications not responding, etc.
I have tried the typical HW reset, removing cache, added anti virus etc but if anything seems to be worse. Any suggestions?
4Gb RAM, 750G drive 170G used. Typically use Office 11 Powerpoint, Excel, Word, Outlook, Safari, Jabber, Chrome, WebEx.

Two other things you can try:
    PRAM reset: http://support.apple.com/kb/PH11243
    SMC reset: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964

  • Slow response in software update

    Hi all
I have a iBook with Tiger on it which races through the software update process however, when i use the software update on a brand new iMac it seems to take ages to check for the software update. It also downloads any updates pretty slowly. Both the iBook and iMac are wireless so i can't figure out why the slow response.
Is this something to do with Leopard or, is there a function on the iMac i can tweak to check for the updates and speed these downloads up?
    TIA

Did you update to 10.5.2? 10.5.2 seems to have some pretty massive issues with WiFi (I fall into the category that has the bare minimum of those issues). Also, Leopard brought about a new portion of the receipts database (half of what Software Update checks) that involves a pretty CPU-intensive process. Your iMac may just be running into that as a block in it's path.

  • Slow response times

This last weekend, we migrated off of our old server 2003 cf7mx server, to a new Server 2008r2 x64 CF 9,0,1,274733 server.  We are now experiencing slow response times for our server, according to the Windows Performance monitor our Avg Request times are way up. I have been going through some logs but nothing seems to leap out at me, but i am not the best CF admin.  As i dont know what information would be usefull, i have tried to give all the info.

Please let me know if any other data would be usefull.

    Hi,
I expect the error details in CF9\runtime\logs\coldfusion-out.log will like provide a clue as to problem.
For a more long term plan I think you should do what you can to migrate the ACCESS data to SQL or some other database.

  • Slow response of my data base

    Hi Dears.
I am working on a database project. i have 5 pc and i have made a pc as a database server machine. the network is on peer to peer. so you can say there is a pc as database server with 4 work station which are accessing database on the server machine. initially the database response was very good but after 4000 records the response of database is too too much slow ( you can say in hanging).
what i do to speed up the database response, i am bothering about slow response of data base.
on server machin (i.e. is a pc) there is
    256 RAM, 2.4 GHz processor
    Windows XP
    Oracle 8 Enterprize Edition
    and Developer 6i
plz help men in suggestion of good resposne

    Couple of things,
    1) With 256meg of RAM, it barely can be called a client machine let alone to be called a server machine. You seriously should have minimum 1gb to have somewhat performance from the system.
    2) You are running oracle 8.Its a really really REALLY old version. Any chance to have an idea that how much data would you store over this box? If your data is limited under 4gigs, than you may look at Oracle XE for your project. But again, machine's HW resource will come in between.
    3) Its not possible to have a guess about the performance degradation reasons just like that. It may be due to number of reasons. For example , in your case , the foremost reason is resource crunch. Try increasing this and than again use the box for some time. Feedback at that time how it is working.

  • Slow Response Tie

I recently bought a Lenovo Yoga 2 11" laptop from Amazon (this is not the Pro version).  When I got it, I did a fresh install of Windows 8.1  (tried to install W7, but it would not let me).  However, the computer has a slow response time, especially when I right click (say, to create a new folder).  It takes about 2 seconds for it to figure out whats going on and to open the menu.  The internet seems to be a little slow too (but ran SpeedTest and it claims I can download at my max speed).
Does anyone else have this problem with the Yoga 2?  Could this just be a bad computer?  Specs below.  I feel like the computer should be much faster based on the hardware it has.
    Intel Core i 4202Y @ 1.60GHz
    4GB Memory
    Intel HD Integrated Graphics
    Samsung SSD 128GB

Everything seems okay.  I've never seen the memory any higher than 50% and that's when I've got a large amount of programs running in the background.
As it turns out, its slow right click response is only on the desktop.  When I rightclick on the task bar, it does it without hesitation.
