Realignment of CVCs in DP

How do we run the Realignment process for CVC in DP using a flat file. Realignment of single values can be done, but if it is to be done for a number of CVCs through a Excel /Text tab delimited file then how is it to be done. Also when do you use the options of Delete Source in Realignment. What if we want to copy the same Product for a number of different locations.

We had same issue, I would like to share the solution, so some one in future can reference.
Step1: Create source file as Tab delimited text file and name it as .xls rather than .txt
Step2: Leave first line blank in the source file.
Step3: When source is created from SAP template, ignore (delete column "Realignment Step", you dont need it, system will generate sequence)
Step4: Leave Step Status Blank, Realignment factor mostly 100 and date in YYYYMMDD format, and Realignment Logic as M.
Step5: Upload the file, It will work.

Realignment of CVCs

Dear Friends,
Is it possible to perform partial Re-alignment of the CVCs. There is already a CVC generated for products, locations, regions. Am introducing new products and want to realign those few products only using the same other value combinations from other similar products.
If you have an answer for this as "yes", pls let me know a broad outline of how this can be done?.
If your answer is "no", can re-alignment be done for the entire CVC. If so this will create a problem for me as the system is already in Production.

Hi Bala,
Re-alignment is needed whenever there is a change in the attributes of the products that you are planning. For example, if material 1111 previously has color = red and suddenly the color changed to blue. In this case, you will need to copy the data from the charactertic combinations representing the old product attributes (i.e. mat = 1111 color = red) to the new product attributes (i.e. mat = 1111 color = blue). During re-alingment KF values are copied from the old characteristic combinations to the other. Promotions can also be copied, but i believe this only possible if you choose to delete the old characteristic combinations during re-alignment.
In the realignment transaction, you have the capability to specify the changes in the product attributes. You specify both a selection of the products that have been "hit" by realignment and also the changes in their attributes. You have two tables to do that (the left one is for the attributes of the old product, the right one is for the attributes of the new product). The SAP program will read data for all characteristic combinations satisfying the codition of the left table. It will then create characterstic combinations with similar attributes as the source but now reflecting the changes you outlined in the right table. For example, for the realignment i have mentioned above the table should be as follows:
LEFT TABLE: mat1 = 1111, color = red, other attributes are blank.
RIGHT TABLE mat1 = 2222, color = blue, other attributes are blank.
The SAP program will extract all characteristic combinations with mat=1111 and color=red and then create new char combos with mat=111,color=blue (other attributes remain the same). The old char combinations will remain unless you chose to "delete source combinations". You can check for the existence of both the old and new char combinations in transaction /SAPAPO/MC62.

APO REALIGN

Hello,
We have a scenario where there is an external system from which the material numbers
and location numbers are fed into APO DP. APO DP does forecasting and sends forecast
to a cross referencing table. This table is connected to SAP R/3 and BW.
APO DP and R/3 have different material numbers and location ids.
We would like to retire the legacy system and connect APO DP and R/3.
How to realign the material number and location so that APO DP and R/3 have same numbers?

Hi
In the CVC, you should have product number or material number. During the realignment you can go to create/Change table. In this you can select only those characteristic which you want realign from CVC. You can select the material or product number in it and create table for CVC.
Once you create table go to header Utilities create file
This will create excel file which you save on your machine. You can maintain all your realignment entries in same xls file and again import this file with same path mentioned above.
This will save you lot of time. Now you can do the realignment. I will suggest to take backup of all the data than do the realignment only for couple of products and check.,

Generally, for the two ways realignment will be executed.
1) The system generates new characteristic value combinations.
If required, it later deletes the old combinations.
2) The system copies the planning data to the new combinations.

1) I have done realignment for few products and iam not able to validate it, i am still confused how actually it works? can you please help me in understanding the whole concept? I have read the help doc, but its not that clear.

2) Once we set up the UOM in the planning area, is there any way possible to make it flexible for the end users( i.e., if the user want to plan in different UOM for a particular product and location)?

Realignment

Hello Experts,
After doing the realignment between two plants ( ie History of plant A moved to plant B ) with delete source ticked, the forecast is seen at both the plants in supply planning book, instead it must be seen at plant B only.
Please help to solve the mystery, how this data is been seen in supply planning book at both plants level when the realignment is successfully executed in demand planning.

In SNP, you will have to delete the forecast using /sapapo/rlcdelete program for location A as well as B.
And then release the forecast from DP to SNP.
With this process, the forecast on the old CVC's will be deleted and the forecast on the new location B will be seen coming from DP

Functionality of APO DP realignment

Hey I have a requirement in BW to built a functionality same like APO DP realignment. Basically the functional guys have given the overview of what is happening and what is the result (basically the data for a characterstic gets changed for a set of CVC). So Could any of you help me how to proceed. Any thought would be great help.

Just to understand your question do you wish to realign your historical data so that in effect the reporting reflects all the data as it would have been if the changes occurred at date x. If so then this is relatively simple in theory.
Basically you will need to determine what you are realigning e.g. Sales Credit, Sales Channel, Territory, these would be the common ones. My experience extends to re-aligning COPA data. But the realignment principal should be the same no matter what you wish to align.
So look at your staging layer before your reporting cube, and then you will need to load that staging layer back into itself using a start routine and then delta the changes to the Reporting Layer.
That would be a very general way to realign data.

APO-DP - Realignment termination

We are on APO 5.0. In DP realignment has been terminating consistently with message "No Live Cache Anchor Found". I have confirmed that the CVC exists, all the consistency checks on planning area and planning object structure have passed.
Has anybody come across similar situation?

Realignment table cannot be activated

Please check if you have the CVCs and time series generated and the Planning area is initialized. If everything looks good then you need to check your authorization

Realigned data missing

Hi there, APO guru's,
I realign certain combinations of data. for example, i realign one product with another.
I also set the delete souce data tick on.
I run realignment and the log says that the run was successful. But when i go and display the data then the old data is deleted and the new data hasn't been realigned to the new values.
Can anyone please give some feedback on this.

Hi,
As i understood from the discussion, CVC for new combination got created and data is not copied.
Before u execute the realignment steps, check all keyfigures or the keyfigure for which you want the data to be copied to new combination( for example sales history).
Also check in planning area, whether you are reading sales history from info cube by setting the scemantic code 002. In that case you cannot realign the data as it is not phisically storing the data.
Still if you have the problem, then let me know the exact scenario.

Data realignment

Dear experts
I have encountered error messages during data realignment. The error messages are:
1. Multi-level error propagation carried out
2. Realignment of liveCache time series aborted
I've run the Consistency Check for the Time Series Network(/SAPAPO/TS_LM_CONS_CHECK) and consistency check for Planning Object Structure(/SAPAPO/TS_PSTRU_CONS_CHECK).
On the first time these were run, there were inconsistencies found with the livecache anchor - there were wrong and duplicate CVCs. These CVCs have already been corrected and consistency checks are already error-free.
Upon execution of the realignment again, the same error messages are still encountered. Please help. What needs to be checked for realignment to be sucessful?

I am assuming that you have maintained the Realignment table properly meaning you have only the necessary entries and removed all unwanted entries. Having assumed that the other reason why this error can come up is when you try to realign more than 1 Characteristic Value in the same table entry.
For Example.
Let us you have 3 Characterstics viz, product, location,customer.
If for Product P1, you are trying to change the location from L1 to L2 and customer from C1 to C2 then there is a possibility such an error might occure.
In such cases we need to create 2 entries as follows
1) P1 L1 C1 to P1 L2 C1
2) P1 L2 C1 to P1 L2 C2.
It is better to avoid Multiple characteristic changes in a single step.

Read CVC through program

Hello Eperts,
Is there any way to read CVC through program?
Actually we are creating realignment steps based up on flat file inputs which we are getting from Legacy system. Legacy system provides only key characterics values but demand planner want all characteristics values in realignment steps. So I am wondering is there any way to read the CVCs & put the same values in realignment steps for other characteristics (Which are not providing by Legacy System).

This can be acheived by creating a z-program using the below mentioned steps
1. create a selection screen to define your selections
       a. to define your planning object structure
       b. characteristics as selections
2. use CALL FUNCTION SAPAPO/TS_PSTRU_TAB_NAMES_GET' to check if the planning object structure exsists and read the   structure of the POS selected in the selection screen in the step number one
3. create a dummy table using the above fetched structure based on the step 2
4. Use CALL FUNCTION /SAPAPO/TS_PSTRU_SINGLE_GET to get all the combinations relevant to the planning object structure
5. Use CALL FUNCTION '/SAPAPO/TS_PLOB_LIST_GET' to filter the CVC's which are retrived from the step 4 based on your selection .
6. Use the CALL FUNCTION '/SAPAPO/TS_RLG_TABLE_GET' to populate the realignment table.

Re-alignment is done for changing masterdata (cvc)
for eg. one product has moved from one product category to another product category etc.
Planning area re-alignment is not done.

One clarification:
In normal realignment without taking info cube into consideration, if the target CVCs are not there, the system would create them and then transfer the data. But in info cube realignment, the master data should already be present in the cube for getting realigned, is it right?
If so, then, this option of info cube realignment is only to change the transactional figures in the info cube. New master data neither gets inserted in the cube nor the existing master data (CVCs) gets changed by any means in the info cube because of info cube realignment. Hope my understanding is right...
