is de second iphone 4s that have the same problem... from one day to an other the wifi of my iphone stop working.. im very disapointed with apple. my doubht is that i really like iphone but i don t want me to happen again. is this commond?? thanks

Did you restore that iPhone from a backup of your previous iPhone? If that's what caused the problem to come back, you can try restoring the iPhone as a new device.
If that isn't it or it doesn't work, take a look at this Apple doc -> iOS: Wi-Fi settings grayed out or dim

  • What REALLY happened with the iPhone 4S 64gb?

Like everyone else I feel completely let down that I didn't get my phone on launch day, but unlike everyone else (according to most of the posts I saw) I just really NEED to know JUST WHAT HAPPENED?
My store (in SE Wisconsin) seems to harbor a bunch of great people as employees and I'm not going to bash them, rather I would just appreciate some education to their employees by corporate. ALL I WANT TO KNOW IS WHY DIDN'T THE BEST BUY STORES GET THE IPHONE 4S 64GB ALONG WITH ALL OF THE REST OF THE IPHONE 4S'S.
This seems to be the situation across the country and there are a ton of people extremely unhappy. All we are getting from the front lines (ie the employees) is that the Apple distributors didn't send them? Really? There's no information anywhere about why Best Buy didn't get the phone.
I believe that if we, the customers, got the information about why we didn't get our phones on the launch day, a lot of people would be less unhappy. Also an estimated time as to when we will finally get them would be much appreciated. (Maybe trying to remedy this in the future would be a good idea too)
    To sum it up:
    1. Why didn't Best Buy get the iPhone 4s 64gb with all of the other iPhones
    2. Please let us know what occurred to make this happen
    3. Please let us know when we will get our phones, or at least when Best Buy will
    4. Apologize
    5. Don't let this happen again!!!

i live in sterling heights MI and have experienced similar problems.
i ordered a black 64g (at&t) iphone 4s for myself and a white 32g (at&t) iphone 4s for my wife.  i arrived at the store 10 minutes after the store opened on the friday to pre-order.  i was informed that there weren't many people before me who had pre-ordered through any carriers.  the sales person who helped me said NOTHING about any type of snafu.  he even told me stories on how they overstaffed the store (utica MI) for the verizon release and that they sold less the 10 iphone 4's on release day.  he took my order and while taking it, the store manager (who the sales person advised me who had called) called him while he was helping me and informed him that the orders were to be filled in order received.  wham, bam i'm out of the store as happy as can be expecting to get my hands on the phone that will make my wife a little happy camper.  ok, i was pretty excited too.  well, on thursday oct 13th i get a call from "sam" from best buy around 8 pm and he tells me that my phone won't be there and they'll 'probably' get another shipment later in the day.  so instantly my blood begins to boil because i'm thinking to myself.......1.  i only went to best buy for the $50 gift card per iphone  2  if i knew that there would be ANY issue with me possibly not getting the phone i would've just ordered from at&t or the apple store.  3  i too have spent oogles of $$$$$ at best buy and have come to expect better.  finally 4th of all the way there was NO explination on WHY they didn't get either order just angered me further.  since my wife has called every day and has received 3 different excuses over the four days she has called (since thur night)
i work with a lot of people who depend on cell phones and BELIEVE me.....each one will know about best buy selling items under the assumption i would've had it on launch day, and they can't even provide the item or a reason why they're not there.
whoever is in charge of the store/region/company should probably know how passionate people are with their iphone/apple products and shouldn't have led us on to believe that we would have one on lanuch day.  it's just bad business!  here i'm gonna take all these pre-orders and i have NO clue how many.....or even what we're going to get.
finally i'm in the catch 22......do i cancel the order and lose my place in line with the possibility of getting it any day here (that's a liberal use of the phrase any day.....probably 2 weeks)  or do i cancel the order and go with the surefire at$t or apple and KNOW what i'm getting it?
from here forth best buy can $#&$ off with their pre-orders and products.....i'll go somewhere else.

  • Use airplay with Apple TV without wifi connection

Is it possible to use the AirPlay feature on an iPad with Apple TV without being connected to the internet via wifi?
I'm thinking about getting my mom an iPad for X-mas later this year so that she can help some of her visually impared students.  She has always wanted a good visual aid for all of her students and I figure that this would be the best solution.  The only problem is that I'm not sure if she would have access to the school's wifi connection.
I would normally suggest that she use the HDMI adapter but the projector in her classroom is mounted on the ceiling and it would be a bit of a hassle to have to disconnect the cable every time so that the kids wouldnt play with it.  So I figure if she can stream her content on her future iPad to the Apple TV wirelessly, she would be able to achieve what she has always wanted to do.  I dont think she will be streaming anything to the Apple TV like youtube or anything like that but it would be a nice tool to have in the event that she wants to present something to her kids wirelessly from her iPad.

Unfortunately you can't send audio from the Apple TV to an airport express, but you can send audio from your mac/pc to the airport express via iTunes/Airplay, you could also send audio from an iPod/iPhone to the express. The express supports both optical and 3.5 mm in a unified port.

  • HT1203 Why is it that music cannot be shared between two people with apple devices over wifi or Bluetooth ?

With other mobile devices it has always been easy to transfer music from one friend to the the other via Bluetooth so why is so hard to transfer music from one apple iPhone to another via wifi or Bluetooth ?

It would seem that Apple have chosen not to implement general file sharing over Wi-Fi or Bluetooth as a security measure. That said. you have no rights to transfer your music (licensed to you) to your friend. They should purchase (licence) their own copy.

  • Is there ANY car stereo that REALLY works with an iPhone 3GS?

Right now I use an older iRiver MP3 player with an older Pioneer headunit in my car. I have to control the player directly, which really ***** when you want to find a certain song while driving. Very unsafe.
I want to integrate a digital media player with a car stereo (to be controlled with a wireless remote or steering wheel remote). I also plan on getting an iPhone 3GS hopefully in the next few months. I don't want to mess around with multiple devices, so I would prefer to put my music on the iPhone and use it as an iPod.
I've been looking at several car stereos from Pioneer, Alpine, Clarion, Kenwood, etc. that come with iPod control built-in and a USB cable for connecting the iPod or iPhone to the stereo. Most of these advertise iPhone compatibility, but many reviews I've read says the iPhone compatibility, especially the 3GS w/ newer software/firmware is spotty at best.
I really don't want to deal with issues like this, so I'm wondering if there's any particular models that really work WELL with an iPhone 3GS, preferably in the $350-under range.

I went to the Apple Store and they told me that there wasn't a cord that would allow me to play my music from my iPhone to my car stereo.
    So...
I bought an iPod because I wanted my music in my car.
I also bought this Kensington Digital FM Transmitter/Auto Charger for my iPod as well. I found a radio station and it worked perfectly.
I thought to myself, why not try to hook my iPhone up to that cable and see if it worked.
Well it did and so I took my iPod back and now am able to use my iPhone in my car using the Kensington cord!!
Here is the link to that cord:
    http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/wa/RSLID?mco=F92 F7BFD&nplm=TD145LL/A
It just goes into your cigarette lighter and then you set a radio station on the cord and then tune onto the radio station on your car.
    Hope that helps,
    Sam
P.S.- Your iPhone is going to tell you that the product is not compatible with the iPhone and would like to know if you want to put it into airplane mode.
Well just select "NO" and then your phone will work like normal and play your music through your speakers and it will still be able to receive calls while listening to your music, the music will just fade out while you are driving and allow you to answer your call and then once you are done, continue playing your song right where it left off.

Since performing 2.2.1 software update, my iPhone 3g does not recognize my Apple iPhone Bluetooth Headset when plugged into back of iPhone Bluetooth Travel Cable.
Is there some sort of reset operation I need to do?

    Hi Jonathan,
Try resetting the iPhone by holding the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons until you see an Apple logo as described here: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305743
If that does not work, try the general troubleshooting tips here: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305743

  • Issues with Apple Services and WiFi

I have a 4G iPod Touch that has one of the most annoying, baffling, and downright irritating issues I've ever see with regards to WiFi signal strength.
At anything less than full strength, Apple Services just about refuse to work at all. This means:
The App Store will not connect to Apple's Servers and provide the list of updates it says are there. It just sits and thinks forever.
Once I have the list, and start updates, should the signal strength drop, my iPod reports it's unable to procure the update.
iMessages will not connect to Apple's Servers to send OR receive messages. It will report failure over, and over, and over again until the wifi is at full strength.
Meanwhile, literally everything else that requires an internet connection? Works flawlessly. Google Hangouts? Works when iMessages fails. Safari and Chrome? Work when iMessages and the App Store fail. Mail? Works. Facebook? Google+? Work. Trillian? Skype? Work. By all indications, my wifi strength is perfectly capable of supporting an internet connection, nevermind sending and receiving data, yet any connection to Apple's Servers results in failure.
The most irritating part of this? If I get it to a strong signal, especially with iMessages, and send my message, it will then work just fine where ever I take it. Eventually, however, it drops it's connection and stops receiving again.
    What. The. Literal. ****.
I live in a single storey house. The router is at one end, I'm typically at the other. Construction of the house does not impede signal strength. I've owned three laptops, all of them have received a strong signal at this end of the house. I've got an Xbox 360 and a PS3 back here. Both on wifi, both recieving strong. The iPod? Reports a varying strength between two and three bars. Usually two. I think that can be interpreted as strong reception. So that said, it's not like I'm attempting to do any of this on poor wifi signal. I'd venture to say I'm not an idiot and do have reasonable expectations of when things should work and when they're likely to not work. This should be working. It does not.
I've taken this up with the Geniuses at the local Apple Store. Diagnostics came up clean, they had no other suggestions of thoughts beyond their usual "Nuke it from Orbit" option (Just restore it and hope any issues go away. I did. The issues remain.).
Does anyone else have this problem?
Is this old hardware dying and Apple's diagnostics are failing to pick it up?
Is this an iOS issue? Should I just downgrade (I have zero issues doing that).
I've dealt with this for months, and it's getting to the point where I'd just as soon chuck it at the nearest wall out of frustration.

The router is incapable of being moved (AT&T U-verse, it pretty much has to be located in the same room as the TV), and even then, I really doubt it's location is at fault when everything else reliant on wifi works, aside from Apple Services on  my iPod (and again, outside of those, the iPod uses wifi just fine).
I've not seen those support documents before, but in general it's all information I've gone round in circles with previously on numerous occasions.
I figured any discussion on the actual downgrading process wouldn't be an avenue I could persue here. I'm merely curious if anyone thinks it would be a potential solution before I expend effort on it.

  • Bose Sound Docks are no longer compatible with Apple iPhones or iPods?

When plugging my iPhone 4S or 5, or my iPod 3rd Gen or 7th Gen into my Bose Sound Dock, I recieve a message that reads, "This iPhone/iPod is not compatible with this accessory" and will not play stored music.
    Background Info:
         - The Bose Sound Dock was designed to support Apple products.
         - All software/OS on the Apple products is current as of Dec 2013.
         - The Bose product doesn't have update-able software associated with it.
         - Clearly, something has changed with the Apple products.
What can be done to fix this so that iPhones and iPods will play again on Bose products?
I've unplugged/replugged the Bose Sound Dock, and I've powered down and powered up the Apple products expecting that something would reset, but these steps have proved to be ineffective and nothing has changed.

Ok, I was having the same issue which is why I came across this post (in search of an answer). I MAY have figured it out...I have an iPod, don't-remember-what generation, and it has always worked with my Bose sound dock portable speaker, approx 2-3 years. Anyway, a few months ago, the Bose stopped picking up that I "docked" my iPod onto it. A long while has gone by and we haven't done anything about it bc our speaker was out of warranty and didn't want to spend the $100 it costs to repair (thru Bose, don't know about other places $, but I've learned the hard way to stick to manufacturer for high-end brand device repair). Long story short, we really missed using our speaker outside and I decided to send it in instead of buying a new one (new one-year warranty comes with the repair, so I figured it was $100 cheaper than buying a new one). An added note, we tried putting my husbands iPhone 4S on the dock and it didn't read it, either; the Bose didn't charge either device, didn't acknowledge in anyway that a device was on the dock attachment piece. Back to present day... I got my speaker back from Bose, and I was so happy to try it out. I put my iPod on the attachment, and voila! It charged the iPod (so clearly it registered that a device was attached), but DID NOT PLAY MUSIC....Exact same message about incompatibility. So, when my husband got home, we tried his phone (this is last week, literally, and I was mad thinking it was the recent apple software update and that I just threw away $100). Guess what? His phone worked! Pandora, his music, you name it. When I called Bose and suggested it could be a software update issue? They replied it wasn't, that the sound dock works with the devices after update, but the piece was still bad, as it was not working correctly if it was not playing the iPod, regardless of the new update, and/or what generation it was. So my thoughts are that it is the attachment where you sit your device on the Bose that has gone faulty. I packaged up my speaker and it's going backs to Bose at their expense to repair. It stinks that I won't have it for Christmas to play music as we enjoy the outdoors, but at this point, I will just be content if they get it to work again!

  • Very disapointed with Apple Support, MacBook in repair shop for 2 months.

I don't know who to call, no one seems to care. I found no email address for Apple Support or for AppleCare owners support queries. My name is Andre Alves Garzia and I live in Brazil, I am a software developer and an ADC member. My development machine is/was a MacBook 13'', it was a very nice laptop until it started powering off with that silly design mistake that was named "random shutdown syndrome", I could no longer trust my machine for it could crash at any time and refuse to power up again. The machine was covered by the standard warranty and I also own a AppleCare extension plan for it. I took my machine to an authorized support shop here in Brazil, the same place I bought the AppleCare, probably the most famous apple shop here. This was on october 10th... Until today they haven't fixed the machine, I call them and they say that Apple Brazil is yet to send the replacement parts (a logic board and a heatsink), all my development stalled. I am a contract worker unable to work because Apple Brazil can't ship replacement parts!!!!
I am uterlly disapointed. If it was a matter of waiting couple weeks, okay, I could live with that but on the same shop that my machine is sitting doing nothing, there are dozens new machines, but they can't take the parts of a new machine, they must wait for the replacement... screw your loyal customer that buys a new system every year, screw the same developer that made many people switch in Brazil and that was a speaker in about six conferences in the last two years, always telling how good was to be a developer in a apple world... I earn nothing for more than a month because of a simple logic board. Even as I own all kinds of warranty and stuff, no replacement machine was offered, no one seems to care...
I phoned the Apple hotline here and the very polite girl on the other side said that she needs to verify why my parts are not here and that it will take time... time is all I have now.
I begin to think that I should publish an article in a really big newspaper here to make people pay attention how disrespectful apple brazil is with their customers... maybe this way someone will fix my machine.
This might not be the category for this post but I found no category for "apple support rant" and if this category is "Using your macbook" then it fits because I am not using my macbook because apple support does not work.
    disapointed
    Andre Garzia ([email protected])

I clicked on your notice feeling quite prepared not to believe your story, and ended up feeling very sympathetic! You seem quite reasonable and polite and it must be horrible having to go without your machine for all this time.
If I were you, I would do one of two things. The less satisfactory would be to ask for the machine back while you wait for parts. I don't know how severe your RSD was, but mine was quite liveable - it happened mostly on awakening from sleep, once or twice in a row, and my computer always responded to a prolonged hold of the power button and, in 1 gH mode, it didn't RSD. Like you, I need my macbook for work, so I asked the repair place to order the parts, let me know when they came in, and then I called for a repair appointment, and they fixed the computer while I waited. I also waited about 4 weeks for parts, but at least I had the use of my computer while I waited.
The more satisfactory thing would be to patiently and politely keep asking for higher and higher level Apple employees until you find someone willing to help you by a) giving you a definite repair date; or b) giving you a replacement computer.
I think if you decide in advance that you are not going to get off the phone until you have one or the other, and then you calmly and politely go about explaining your position and asking for a solution, and asking for a higher official if the one you are speaking to can't or won't help you, then you are likely to get your problem solved.
Please tell us how it works out with you!

  • I am very unhappy with Apple response to wifi problem.  Has anyone had a positive response?

The wifi function has stopped working on my 4S.  I see this is a common problem that was caused by Apple with the 7 software.  Has anyone gotten satisfaction from apple?

Have spent 1 month trying to get a resolution to this problem and Apple seem to be behaving in a profoundly unprofessional manner. My own phone (14 month old – so outwith warranty) failed the day of the update to IOS 7.0.4 and on checking with a techie colleague discovered his had failed as well. I'm assuming the new software is overdriving the Wi-Fi chip which then overheats causing solder-joint degradation. The only fix is for the chip to be re-attached by very sophisticated SMT flow-solder technology - a bit beyond a "man with a blowlamp".
Apple should NOT be responding with an audible note of surprise when you phone support with your problem when the forums are inundated with countless examples of a problem which has obviously been caused by an IOS upgrade which it would appear is inappropriate for their current iPhone models.
I was hoping for a “special upgrade or replacement offer” for victims of this problem – but cannot wait any longer, so have reluctantly opted for a Mail-In Exchange/Repair. A recent convert to Apple products – 2 Write-Off phones in three years is getting seriously expensive for me! If Apple don’t respond more positively this will I fear get seriously expensive for them too!

  • I've problem with my Iphone regarding wifi connection.

I've updated my iPhone 4 to 6.0.1. Since then the problems are started:
    1. Every time I'm entering the password for my home wifi connection. It is not connecting automatically. I've done network reset and enable the http to "auto" in wifi properties. The problem still the same :-( help me out from this horrible situation. Entering the password every time if I go out n coming back or if I put "off" wifi n then again "on".
    2. iPhone is not vibrating :-(. I kept my phone in vibrating mode but it is not vibrating. I don't know what has occurred to iPhone:-(
Help me to solve this problems.
    Many thanks

I had a similar issue with our new iPhone 5's over the weekend.  I ended up needing to power cycle my router, as my laptop was having problems connecting also.  How it ended up that the router would have issues right when we got these new phones is beyond me, but that's what did it.  See if that helps.

    1) what is the point of ios5?
    2) what is the point of iCloud?
    3) what is the point of backing up?

    Because NONE of them work!!!

    2) To enable you to store, share and retrieve music/tv shows/contacts/calendars/contacts/etc wirelessly.

    4)  If you have lost your data and need to restore it from the backup that you made.  Same reason you would restore from your backup of your comuter if it crashes.
Maybe you should read the manual.
They all work for me and everyone I know.  It seems you have a probelm with yours.  Perhaps if you were to provide some info, someone here could help.
