Realtek RTL8188CE problem

Hi all,
I'm running into problems with the wifi card on my new Christmas present.  It's a Realtek RTL8188CE.  When I booted the Arch netinstall image I could get it to associate to the access point but it wouldn't pick up an address.  I ended up doing the base install using a Mint live cd.  Had no wifi problems at all in Mint.  When I booted back into the Arch base system I again had no problem associating with the access point and picked up an address after 2 or 3 attempts.  However, the network still disappears every few seconds.  When I try to ping google I'll get 8 or 10 returns and then 15-20 lines of network unavailable then a few returns again and so on.
Any ideas?
Thanks...

On my laptop, I cannot get an IP adress...

  • RealTek sound problem

    Hello guys,
I'm running Windows XP Professional and I'm having one problem with my K8T Neo-FIS2R -- the onboard sound.  When I run the speaker test mode, the right side plays perfectly.  But when I test the left, I get nothing from it, and actually, I even get a tiny bit of sound from my right one.  I did download the newest RealTek drivers for XP.  I can't really think of anything else to try?
I always have my Hercules Game Theater XP as backup, but I'd like to get this working if possible.
    Thanks.

  • Crashes when rendering /Realtek drivr problem

    hi,
love 6.5 then 7 but Pro is driving me potty... My system keeps crashing when rendering and also - or maybe becaused of?! - I keep getting 'can't playback audio / audio inputs are deactivated / adobe default sound drivers are in half duplex mode'. Are these problems linked? I've built up a large project - if I reinstall Pro will I lose it? I know I can't open it in 7.0 - pity! All help appreciated thankyou.
Ps ram is not a problem. I'm on vista.

  • Windows 7 Combo Jack Realtek driver problem s510p

I'm running Windows 7 on an Ideapad s510p, but the realtek drivers (downloaded from the s510p downloads page) sees one audio input, but thinks it is a headphone out only:
There were a couple of topics with kind of similar problems like this where people got recommended to use an adapter for both. I ordered one but that does not solve the problem, it seems to me that it is a driver problem. I tried the drivers from the s510p downloads page and also from the realtek drivers but both give the same problem, is there any way to fix this?

Okay, I solved the problem. Turns out I was installing the wrong driver from the Realtek website.
The correct driver for VB in my installation is for the AC'97 audio controller.
    It is located at:
    http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsCheck.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=23&PFid=23 &Level=4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false#AC
    I have sound now!

  • Realtek Installation Problems

I just bought a P35 Neo2-fr motherboard. I am reallt disappointed by this board so far. Not only did I have the problems with the power on reboot, finding out it doesn't support VT, and now I am unable to get the Audio driver to work. I have read all the posts about this problem and none of the fixes have worked for me. In my system resources I do have the Microsoft UUA bus driver installed. But I am unable to install the realtek audio drivers. I start the install and then at the end it tells me it fails, with no explanation as to why. Is there a log somewhere? I have spent hours and I do not want to have to reinstall everything. Anyone have ideas on what to do?

Thanks for the lead but in searching for the suggestion I only returned 2 results in which neither talked about the solution. I used your name and the word audio in an advance search.
Hmm, sorry about that.  I know I posted about this as I was having a similar issue.  I had to use device manager, Add/Rem Progs and Safe mode too.
I tend to shy away from reg cleaners for devices especially if they still show under device manager.

  • Onboard Realtek audio problem

I just migrate from a K9N Diamond n590 to K9A2 Plat ver 1. Everything was installed succesfully except when I went into Device Manager there is a yellow ! mark under the "Other Devices" PCI.
I checked Vendor 1002 / Device 4383 which is GlobalTek or onboard HD audio.
I have uninstalled all the video/audio codecs from the previous board and installed Realtek HD audio package, ver 1.87.
In Bios I have enabled onboard audio. Rebooted and verified in Device Manager, there is no device, driver shown.
What could be the problem and how to solve it?  Thanks.

If i understand clearly, you just migrated = putting the drive with OS? in the new system with K9A2 board, and booted up.
Have you installed in some way, the original drivers for this motherboard?
In casu, the SouthBridge drivers, because your previous motherboard was nvidia.
You moved from an nvidia-based mobo to an ATI-based mobo.
The id 1002:4383 is from the High Definition Audio device from ATI(Realtek).

  • P965 Platinum and Realtek RTL8111B problem

I have a dual boot setup on my computer:  Windows XP and Fedora 7 Linux.
After booting Windows XP I will have to COMPLETELY UNPLUG the power supply from my computer before booting to Fedora 7 Linux.  The reason:  If I simply reboot or turn off the computer (simply turning off does not remove the power from the mainboard), then the Realtek RTL8111B onboard LAN is left in a state which prevents Fedora 7 Linux from being able to use the LAN.  Fedora simply reports the LAN is not available.  The solution, which I find unacceptable, is to completely turn off the Realtek RTL8111B on the P965 Platinum and use an old Realtek 8129 PCI network board.
A better solution would be for the MSI BIOS to reset all of the Realtek RTL8111B LAN chipset's bits to a valid state so that Fedora 7 Linux would be able to properly recognize and use the onboard LAN.
Again, if I COMPLETELY UNPLUG my computer's power supply Fedora 7 Linux always finds and uses the onboard LAN.  It is only after using Windows XP and rebooting to Fedora 7 Linux without completely unplugging the power supply first that there is a problem.  This would seem to indicate the MSI BIOS is not resetting the Realtek RTL8111B onboard LAN chipset to a clean state when it initializes the system upon booting.
I am using MSI P965 Platinum BIOS version 1.4

Uhm, I'm having exactly the same issue under linux.
The router's led will stay off and it looks like there was no network cable connected (Realtek Ethernet controllers are insmod'ed and everything looks fine).
The only thing I haven't tried is unplugging the power supply's cable ... weird.
I'm also upset about this problem  >:(

  • Realtek Microphone Problem

    Hello,
For some reason I can't get my microphone to work in either front or back panel? It is weird. It all worked before I reinstalled my computer, and after I did it just stopped working. What could be the problem? When I say not working I mean, that the volume control for the mic is blacked out. It is recognised as being plugged in. I have latest software by the way.
    Thanks

  • Possible solution to disconnecting issues with Realtek RTL8188CE

As you may recall I've been having issues with my RTL8188CE WLAN card (and if I recall I'm not the only one), anyway I have found something that solves it for, at least, my system
I introduce to you: Linux Mint Debian Edition, the distro itself is irrelevant but how it sets up networking is very relevant, from what I can tell it uses a so called obsolete method of setting up the network firmware this would be ndiswrapper, from what I can tell it works excellent.
Another thing I noticed is that this card is utter garbage in any OS, it doesn't work right in windows either (making multiplayer games... less than entertaining)
Now, here's the catch: I don't recall how LMDE set it up nor do I have a partition running it right now (sacrificed for a pure debian jessie system (I always keep coming back to debian)), if anyone has this card they could try installing lmde to figure out the network setup it is using (actually, that would be really helpful)
Anyway, that's my two cents to the issue of getting this card working
No seriously, that's all. Now off to get my Debian install and then arch install working with this setup to verify that it can be replicated on other systems. (if possible could anyone try this and post their results, I had four disconnects over the last month, three were my own fault for messing with the driver)
P.S if this is in the wrong section (might be, it seemed like the most relevant one to me though) please don't overreact ^^
EDIT: Update - the card seems to work somewhat reliably with the native linux driver on kernel 3.10 with ipv6 disabled, still not perfect but *usable* (as in haven't disconnected for over an hour)
Now, time to do some more experimenting (the actual stability seems very random depending on kernel version, driver version, position of the moon and whether or not you've successfully located elmo)
Last edited by CubeGod (2013-11-08 14:24:19)

UPDATE: Okay, so as I mentioned that running kernel 3.10 with ipv6 (and powersaving) disabled it works, it isn't perfect, it loses connection every now and then, doesn't get any usable speeds and it randomly disconnects and requires a reauth, nothing major as it isn't exactly common (ugh, it's a major improvement over disconnects every two seconds)
This card is still awful though (on an unrelated note I still find it hilarious that the card works even worse in windows *rolls eyes* I blame microsoft)

  • Wireless Problems Lenovo x121e & DLink DI 524

I'm experiencing some rather erratic Wifi behaviour with my laptop. Since there are so many factors involved, I have trouble pinpointing the problem.
My setup is as follows: A Lenovo x121e with Arch installed, and a Realtek RTL8188CE card; a Hitron CVE-30360 cable-modem and a DLink DI-524 router. I've used this How-To from DLink (beware: German Dlink HowTo) to setup the DI-524; in essence: deactivate UPnP, changed IP to 192.168.0.222, turned off DHCP-Server, connect cable modem to LAN port of the DI-524. My desktop, which is connected via cable to the router, connects to the internet just fine.
With my laptop, I want to use the Wifi, obviously. I set the router to use WPA (also tried WPA2, no difference), and then connected with either wifi-menu or wicd-curses. It establishes a connection, yet it is very slow most of the time, and drops packages (up to 10% package loss when pinging the router).
What log files etc. would I look for, I don't really know where to start with this.
    Thanks in advance

Had the same problem here. The source of the probelm is the crappy module rtl8192ce!
I solved the problem by using a intel wireless card now. I bought the intel N6200 and everything is fine now.
But be careful: You have to mount the card in the free pci slot (with a adapter), if you replace the original wifi-card the BIOS will complain and you have to flash a differnt BIOS where the intel card isn't blacklisted.

  • SoundBlaster X-FI MB3 software problem

    Hello MSI Forums,
New purchaser of the Z87-GD65 motherboard.  Has anyone else purchased this board and installed the XFI MB3 software from the included driver CD?  I installed the software and it states that "There is no supported audio device available".  For anyone that says I do not have a SB card installed, my understanding is that this is not a driver, but software to enhance basic onboard audio on a motherboard.
Quote from Creative: The Sound Blaster X-Fi MB3 software suite is a powerful audio platform equipped with cutting-edge audio technology, offering premium audio quality, effects and features for ordinary PC systems equipped with only basic onboard audio.
No where does the Creative site say it is a external soundcard required software. It is part of the software package included with the MB, and is for sale by Creative.  I would expect that this software is included with the MPower boards as well.
I cannot get 5.1 audio from the optical S/PDIF Out, and figured this software might be the fix.  I only get 2.1 audio.  I have an older Gig board with optical out, and the Realtek drivers that i used for that board had theater 5.1 options.  The MSI Realtek driver under the digital output only gives you the option for CD or DVD with no speaker options, like the Speaker setting does.
I have run through all of the sound settings in Device Manager and can only select 2 channel audio on the Advanced tab for Realtek Digital Output.  Not understanding if it is a MSI Realtek interface problem, or the drivers.  Tempted to install the old R257 or R267 drivers.  Currently running R271.  The old drivers allowed me to install the Dolby HD drivers from Realtek (DCC Win764 2.2.3 Dolby).  If i try to install the Dolby HD drivers for this board I get an error.
Sent an email to MSI Tech Support:
Dear Customer, the board does not have a sound blaster audio controller; it has a Realtek audio controller. It does come with the sound blaster Cinema an audio effect program. the board will do 5.1 from the analog audio jacks only. You can get 5.1 from the audio optical output for video playback if you use a program like power DVD and the audio track is originally recorded in 5.1.
I am using MPC-HC X64 software to watch movies on a Blu-Ray projector and have always had 5.1 audio using the optical out.   So this software supports it, not sure why Tech Support thinks that the software will make the difference, when I cant even select 5.1 under the Digital Audio device output in Device Manager. The included Cinema software only appears to alter the OFC audio jacks. I am wondering if the problem is the Realtek driver for the ALC1150, or MSI's version of it.  Nothing has changed from my previous MB setup other than the board and the drivers.
Running Windows 7 X64 as I was on the other MB.
Any suggestions, or anyone using the software successfully?

sorry froggy that's what i said. i had the problem. cinema sounbd one is another problem. X-FI MB 3 is intended for Xpower board only as far as i know. check your self, check the overview of both boards and you will see only in xpower it says about the x-fi mb 3, so i guess the CD has the software of all the Z87 mobos, i think it's not specific as the rest of the devices are mostly common as well.

  • X130e wireless problems: determining the correct driver, enabling the radio

I just spent 5 days and many hours getting the wireless on my wife's x130e to work, so I thought I would share my experience in the hope that it may help somebody.
First thing: delete all of Lenovo's supplemental software that attempts to in any way manage the wireless connection. It and Windows disagree on what to do, apparently. Windows would tell me the wireless radio was on, and the Lenovo software would tell me it was off -- which it was, but because Windows thought it was on, it wouldn't turn on. So get rid of the Lenovo stuff, and just use Windows to install and manage the wireless driver. The O/S is ultimately in charge, so deal directly with it and don't try to use a middleman.
As far as choosing the right driver: Lenovo's driver matrix still leaves you with several choices of driver even after drilling down to the bottom. I finally opened the bottom of the computer (3 screws, it's easy, see online hardware manual) and looked at the wireless card. In really tiny print I eventually found "Realtek RTL8188CE." (See photo. Your card may not look like this, but you ought to find something helpful.) You can go to the Realtek site, search for that number, and eventually find a driver. I ended up using a driver from the Lenovo site, but I felt comfortable that it was the correct one when the Windows Device Manager identified the author of the driver as Realtek.
So...when I finally was satisfied I had the correct driver, and I deleted all the Levono auxilliary software, and setup the wireless card with Windows, it worked.

it's the same dhcp thing... shutting the daemon down should do a "dhcpcd -k" - but I have to look into it.. .as it doesn't work too well on my machine...
try "dhcpcd -k eth0" then network start... that *should* work the first time, as it releases the dhcp lease...

The current wifi adapter that I have is Realtek RTL8188CE 802.11 b/g/n wifi adapter. I have researched the hardware on the internet and I think I would like an Intel Wireless AC 7260 wifi adapter but I am not sure if it is compatible with my laptop. Could you please tell me what wireless 802.11ac card or adapter is compatible with my laptop or if I am even able to upgrade this compnent. My computer runs fine and has no problems. Thanks.

No. Sorry. The HP laptop motherboard has a BIOS program that is set to stop the bootup process if any but very specific wireless cards is installed. In the case of your laptop, no 802.11ac adapter is on the "whitelist" to allow booting.
